Magic For An Effortless Golf Swing You’re Not Using But Should! ruclips.net/video/xf6PE5gCpBo/видео.html 💪
Such a joy to find this video! I am a 1 handicap and all I think about is flicking my wrists back, and flicking them through. It’s everything every teacher tells you not to do, but I put my consistency up against anybody’s. My ball flight is incredibly straight, and all I think about is the wrists. Specifically my right wrist. I flick it back as if I’m going to skim a stone across some water and then I flick it through with the same motion. No thought about shoulder turn or hip turn or what the bodies doing or any of that! I don’t think about my grip or where the club is at any point in my swing. Again, just flick it back and flick it through with the right wrist. No, I don’t get any that hook left. Maybe it’s my timing or whatever, but everything is just straight. It’s a joy to swing this way and it takes all the other thoughts out of play. I was really happy to find this video this morning. Thank you very much.
For some reason I thought that was considered "flipping" your wrists when you do that, but I think I"ve been incorrect about this this whole time. Is flipping your wrist losing your bend in the right wrist and not having to do with supinating and pronating?
Thanks for this video. I recently started focusing on the wrist feel and mindset. I quickly started to appreciate the benefits. Not focusing on the body and positions and letting the hands and wrists do the work seemed to synch up the body. The best feeling was how my swing became more relaxed and confident. Less effort and more power. Alex this video is spot on. My swing feels more flowing and not as quick. The hips and body react to my intentions. It does feel like magic when the ball seems to just fly off the face and the effort was minimal. I also found my knees flex and balance became more intuitive, more automatic instead of being uncomfortable over the ball. The falling into the swing feel is still a work in progress. When I do it close to perfect the swing is even more fluid with the best compression. I am working on timing instead of body mechanics. If the hands and wrist do what they are supposed to do the fall through the ball seems to be more of a reaction for me. As always you keep it simple!
This is exactly what I am learning and it has really helped. I use the step drill (stepping forward as I start the downswing) to help get me to feel what the down swing is supposed to feel like.
I appreciate that very much indeed! Thank you Mark. I’m delighted on all fronts to be with #PXG and more lessons coming your way. Cheers and glad you’re with us 🏌️♂️👍
I finally figured this out a couple years ago, was always keeping my wrists completely locked, and would slice the ball so hard it almost turned into a boomerang lol. Now my only difficulty is moving my wrists the correct amount, often I’ll over-correct and turn them too much upon contact, causing a hook.
I remember discovering this and how fun it was to practice all of the shot shapes with the discovery. Then you can learn to punch it low and shape it. Also, you can hit the ball a long ways (not as long of course) with relaxed wrists that whip through the impact area without a big shoulder turn proving the hands and wrists do a lot. It's nice to hit a soft golf ball with these types of repeated practiced shots.
There are so many movements that the wrist is possible of making. Tiny movements make a huge difference to club face alignment. If you think that you can make exactly the right wrist movements at EXACTLY the right moment you are crazy. Look at how a trebuchet works. It has a consistent release despite having a loose hinge and no control where the “wrist” is. What’s the answer! Leave your grip and wrists very loose, turn your hips and shoulders in the correct fashion and allow physics to produce the same result over and over. There’s a reason it’s called a release. Because it’s not a movement we do. It’s one that we allow to happen!
I just got back from tge range. Working with my new 4i. I hit a bunch with open and closed faces. In a short time, I dialed in my draws and could land them on the target. Left to right, not as much yet, but I could also get them much closer down the middle. Activating the wrists gave me more distance to with changing nothing. Thank you for the great tip.
Really like what you had to say. I always appreciate your effort to try to find language that describes what you’re teaching. Communicating sensations, and feelings in a golf swing is, many times, no easy task. Language is an art, as is teaching. Thank you for caring to try to help us improve.
Excellent information, never really thought about the wrist and how it effects the flight of the ball. I will try this and see how it effects my ball flight.
This is fantastic. Solved my long-time issue of open club face. And I also felt it's important to mention the uncocking of the wrists. I played 20 years of golf not realizing I needed to uncock them during the downswing. No wonder I always hit thin and slice.
So much truth in this. I've been using my wrists to close the club face (and hands a little forward at impact) for a while now and I've gone from a life-long slice to a consistently straight ball flight. With me there's an added benefit of better compression and distance. It felt weird at the beginning I must admit.
Another basic that revolves around this that I noticed yesterday. Practice routine and pace. If you start out trying to go as SLOW as possible back and through, it really gives you awesome feedback!
As always, a great explanation and it's now clear to me that the wrists and hands are very active. A bit like throwing a ball or javelin....the body helps but the release and power come via the hands.
One of the best drills my teaching pro passed to me was to stand with feet together, half swings with particular emphasis on wrist hinge and release. Amazing results but over the years I've got bogged down with 252 other swing thoughts!!
Yup, my local pro learned me this as I shoot to the right often. When I learned this I found out that often, in the backswing, the club "automatically" opens up and I dont feel it happens. And if you try to hold the club so hard it wont move during backswing, it gives other problems. But since Im used to not do that movenent for 2 years, the movenent of the wrist is not that natural to me yet, but when I get it right, the ball goes straight.
Hey ART OF SIMPLE GOLF I just watched your 344 videos on simple golf and thank you, I only have 344 swing thoughts and I have not address the ball yet! You are the best!!! Uhhh,,,, can you tell me how to hit the ball now.
These are missing with 1 extra tape layer under left hand and 3 extra layers under right so less taper. I urge most to test out midsize or jumbo. It’s either you love it or not. But most do better with thicker grips in my experience
Do you think wrists should be active or passive (active meaning I try and snap my wrists as opposed to letting it happen). I'm a 3 index but driver ball speed is 140 and have never really tried powering through the ball with my wrists since I hit so straight, but would like more distance. Thanks
Hi Alex , I have just discovered your channel for the first time while searching for help with the wrist hinge in the golf swing . It has finally dawn on me that I am not using my wrists properly and this is the major thing that I am going to concentrate on going forward . Like your videos and have subscribed and look forward to following your uploads . I am also a big fan of PXG and currently using Gen4 XP irons . I play off about 12 and very keen to get down to single figures . Where do you film your lovely videos ? And where about in the UK are you originally from ?
My question is does the back of the left wrist need to be facing the target at impact or can it be facing the right of the target. I have found that I have to strengthen my grip to hit it straightish. For the life of me I can't supinate my left wrist enough to have it point at the target at impact. Is this a match up thing with my body anatomy?
Every word this guy said in the first minute is absolute facts. Spent 2 years getting my body to swing well with limited results and then just got my first private lesson today. Instructor said the exact same thing. I need to work on unhinge. Got some beautiful hits on my driver!
I couldn’t agree more with this video. The only thing I been suffering with is when I still come over the top and I have my wrist in the right position. I will rocket a left pull cause of the over the top. I guess for me how do I get more consistent on in to our path. What drills
Played in a Pro Am 30 yrs ago hitting driver 320 str. Pro said he'd never seen anyone with such flippy wrists. At 71, I'm still very flippy, but now know how to control it. Thanks.
I got the left and right shots down pat. I need to know how to hit it straight consistently. Can never get the timing or whatever squares the face at impact.
Incredible, il is the first Time I hear that explanation from a Pro and I have 35 years of golf behind me😅.at 72 years old I begin a new life of golfer. You will Excuse my English😂 and congratulations for your Channel🎉
Just before I saw this post, I watched an infomercial about the new ProSendr golf aid by David Woods and Sean Foley. Exactly the same message. It’s all in the wrist position and forearm connection.
Ah neat! Yeh I’ve seen that bouncing around on social media. The precision impact is similar. But the HackMotion I demo with is really perfect because it’s not forcing you into any positions that feel strange once you take the device off. It’s true training within parameters and your feels
I have had difficulty in consistently getting the grip in the right place in the hand. I saw an old video of Manuel De La Torres who talked about gripping the club like you are shaking someone's hand, or he suggested gripping the club like you are holding an umbrella. Both ideas have helped me be more consistent in my grip. Do you agree with that approach?
I would love to have a session with Alex and Paul Wilson (Body Swing) arguing over my golf swing. Pretty sure that would get me to scratch this season!!
I've been playing golf 2 years. I've taken lessons and watched a million RUclips videos. Still, my shots were all over the place. Hooked, sliced, thinned, fatted, etc. A month ago I learned about flattening my lead wrist. Wow, I've turned into a straight up assassin with my golf clubs. I hit (almost) everything dead straight. On top of that, I've added about 20% distance with every club. I'm the honorary mayor of Compression City. Sad that none of my coaches caught and corrected this simple issue.
I do this drill with my feet closer together and my eyes closed. This gives even better feedback. Then try to estimate by feel how much you hit it left or right depending on your intention.
Lots of info too much if you ask me. A- Think back turn not back swing. 2 many baseball players out there. K B- hold your club straight out infront of you and make a circle with your arms without "breaking" your wrists. Watch the head of the club move in unison w your hands and arms. Is it weird that only one club in my bag is uncontrollable and it’s a pitching wedge. It either hooks or pulls never a straight shot unless i come extremely over the top
This video repeatedly went back & I could NOT view it properly. I tried several times to forward the video but the same fault was repeated. All your other videos worked correctly. Thank you for your valuable advice.
Only way I can get a better wrist set is by turning my left hand under the right in the takeaway. This keeps my squared and removes manipulation in the rest of the swing. Also got rid of my slice
Another great video sir, definitely something to think about and work on! Oh and looks like somebody might be a PXG staffer now?? If so congrats and we’ll deserved!
Its why people still slice with a "strong" grip. Your grip isnt strong if you have a flat wrist at setup. Dont matter how many knuckles you see. The wrist turns the face. Did it countless years was like well its told see the knuckles. No its all in the wrist cup. I started to setup with max wrist cup in my lead wrist that way just swinging naturally theres absolutely no way im going to return to the ball with maximum cup in that wrist. Try it setup max wrist cup in the lead wrist and relax the hands in the swing youll no longer have a left to right flight
I think the best thing is do not turn your wrists. They should not be turning anyway. Most people tend to turn their wrists at the backswing which is setting them up for a slice or over the top swing. Hi Alex. What shaft flex are you gaming? I feel like stiffer shafts are easier to load. Is this true?
Can you preset the club face closed before you swing and get the same results?
It depends but it’s worth testing for yourself. Creating awareness of the correlation and impact is always beneficial 🏌️♂️👍
