club focused swing is so much better than body focused swing... I wish the teaching pros out there would go back to club focused teaching... it would help golfers learn so much faster. This is so well explained!
Not only are you probably the most progressive instructor on You Tube, your swing is the prettiest of any teacher I've seen!! Your own golf swing clearly employs the principles you are promoting. Tour pros don't just hit the ball further because of talent. They are more efficient in terms of using their body and hands. The difference players of all abilities would see by playing "gravity golf" is mind blowing. As fine a training video as I've seen.
Great explanation because everyone doesn't explain why it looks like the pros are not using their wrists and everyone tells you not to do it. Appreciate the video
Excellent video Kerrod on the role of the golf club! For years I tried to manipulate the golf club rather than correctly utilizing it for its design. I was able to play fairly decent golf but always felt that I didn't reach my full potential. Just recently I lessened my grip pressure and relaxed my wrists in order to better feel the club head. I am thoroughly enjoying this new found swing and my scores are starting to show an improvement. I am going to archive this video for future reference and reminder.
Kerrod, think you make a terrific point that few other pros ever make, that of the weight distribution in the clubhead. 50 years+ ago, irons had most of the weight behind the center of the clubface, making the sweet spot/COG very close to the hosel. That's why the old timers used to say the difference between a perfect shot and a shank was about 1/4 of an inch. Now that there is more/proper weight towards the toe, that to your point makes the clubface rotate axially by itself, with no need to try to rotate the club yourself, as you had to do in the old days. Good stuff here and well done!
this is a superb lesson that any 'average' golfer should have embedded in his brain! the description at 4.14 is priceless, Hale Irwin was seen for two weeks before one of his US open wins only hitting feet together shots on the driving range, that drill is arguably the no1 drill in golf, cheers
Very good reference to the pro swing and the “illusion” of no/little face rotation in the swing. It can cause confusion in the mind of the beginner. The best contact I’ve felt has been when I swing through with no tension and focus on proper body movement. The hands and arms kind of take care of themselves. Good vid.
Perfect is exactly what I need. Kerrod one million thanks. Your explanation is so true is vital to practice this drill. Thanks my friend. Life bless you for be a good man. Nice to see you help people and kids to get into this grate sport. Oscar from Canada Gallaghers Canyon. See ah !
This is great stuff. Although Kerrod is saying this, for me, the swinging of the clubhead must start right from the first movement away from the ball and then be maintained throughout the swing. A mistake I made was to try to swing it from the top of the backswing but actually, it must start right from the beginning.
Thanks for another excellent video Kerrod. Clearly explained, expertly demonstrated, and not overloaded with detail. I found it a very useful warm up for 9 holes today. Unfortunately my attempts on the course to generate more speed through shoulder turn, leg drive, wrist set etc. all come to nought as the quality of strike evaporates.
Loved this Kerrod. Great drill and makes a lot of sense without being too technical. How would you then take this on a stage to build body rotation into this as you described in this? Have subscribed to your channel. Mark from the UK 👍
Nice! Great video 👍 I'm really working on getting this feeling into my swing as I feel I'm to rigid and tense. However, when trying to swing like this I have a tendency to start flicking the club again and to lose shaft forward lean at impact. Any thoughts on how to best work with this?
I like your videos and most club pros have their own version of methods used by Ben Hogan via Jim Mclean..the question i have is most high handicappers have 50 putts along with bladed pitch shots dump it in the bunker aka short game stinks..beginners firstb need to learn how to be successful from 40 yds in and practice Practice PRACTICE PUTTING
Why do I feel like modern golf instruction has only recently begun to talk about ideas like this - swing the weight of the clubhead, throw the clubhead, aggressively release the clubhead, etc.? Whereas most instruction in the last 20 years has confused golfers into thinking that it's the body, not the hands/wrists that creates speed, hold off release to create lag and power, etc. It is the movement of the body that leads the club into the correct plane and squareness to the line of strike and which permits the aggressive release. We should start seeing a lot of golfers who struggle with solid strikes and compression get a lot better now that this misconception is cleared up.

You are absolutely spot on! Thanks for your comment 🙌
Thanks Kerrod 😊 great drills. I am just learning to swing the club and strike the ball and not to just hit at the ball. Now for the short game 😀
when I searched "let the club swing you" I like that this came up. These drills will surely help me hit the ball a bit more consistency. Awesome vid!
Thanks for your comment! I'm glad I was able to help you out.

Great tip. I have been playing golf for many years and could not feel the weight of the clubhead. Thank you!
Happy to help! Thanks for the comment. 👍

Interesting Kerrod, I’ll be working on this technique later today on the range
Glad to hear,

So , the faster we swing from that pivot point, the further back we should be aiming our swing bottom?
Great
Great drill, is the playbook still available and up to date?

Absolutely agree🙌

One question Kerry. You feel the swinging weight in the hands, right?
That is correct!
Hi you don’t believe a passive release is more consistent. This can cause massive hook’s
Excellent!!! When I can hit a ball 100 yards with my right hand only, I will send. you $100.
