How much quicker would high handicap golfers see massive steps forward in their game if they focused on this part of the game rather than trying to out drive everyone at the range. Get round a green before dusk when you've got the course to yourself. This is GOLD !!! Great stuff DM. 👏

      @@columcunningham4458 yep
      Sand wedge pitches
      ×5
      PW pitched ×5
      8 iron full ×5
      6 iron full ×5
      4 hybrid full ×5
3 hybrid or wood off tee ×5 (i dont drive with driver yet)
Thats my 30 ball bucket warm up
Then i got do 10 chips of literally these first 3 examples he gave in the video. Ive seen these exact techniques in a diff video i dont know where and they work wonders
I finish with two putting drills
Tee peg 2 putter club lengths from hole, then 4, then 6
5 putts on really flat part of green from all 3 to get feel for speed of greens
And lastly the phil mickelson 3 foot putt round the world. Put like 10 balls all around a cup at 1 putter length and just tap tap tap each one in to build up that confidence and get that sound in your head of the ball going in the cup
Thay routine literally males a 5 to 10 shot difference on rounds i just rush to the 1st tee and go

1000S Of videos and his is the best !!! I was having problems with my driver, I did exactly what he said to do, It was odd but I walked one the 1ST Tee, set up like he told me and I blasted the drive carrying over 275 yards ! And I tried it with my 3 Hybrid and it flew 283 yards ! Also chipping, I was 109 yards from the green on a Par 5 , I hit the bunker trying to get om in 3, The ball was on the front hump of the bunker but on the back side so I'm hitting almost straight up, I used a 9 iron know i would got higher than longer ,I leaned back and had my shoulders even with the ground and it landed right at the pin ! I would have shot one of my best games ever but I put two balls in the water, cost me 4 strokes on 2 holes ! but this guy changed my game beyond my expectations. But Practice practice practice but don't hit 50 balls on the range, hit a few and go play !

Watched this video and the next day golfing I found myself in very similar situations around the greens & right away I thought okay lets try out these chipping techniques. I did at least 6 practice swings each time before hitting the ball to get the feel of what you were saying. They all worked out GREAT I could not believe how well each shot ended , all leaving just a very short putt, thank you for the great tip and explanation on the proper way of holding the club.

Stumbled on here idk how, former D1 for golf at a northern school. I watched every video and was obsessed with the why of how golf balls do what they do growing up. I only had 1 swing coach who gave me that knowledge on what and why and how to shape the golf ball for full swings.
Although I eventually intuited alot of how bounce works and how to stand and move to create spin, height, and how to impact a ball based on the lie given through feel alone vis-a-vie thousands of hours…I do feel like this video could have saved several hundred hours or more, and many, many divots at my home course growing up, if it had been out there when I was learning.
TLDR: very eloquent and purposeful delivery and well done to say it with such brevity

    Another great lesson.
Something which helped me understand club face / ball interaction and how shaft angle affects it was to put ball and club on a table top and get down and view it at eye level. It made me realize that as loft increases the leading edge slides further under the ball before the face makes contact. It made me realize I should be aiming the leading edge of the club, my visual reference, at the middle-to-front of the ball instead of the back as I realized I had been before analyzing the cause and effect interaction. I stopped hitting my chips and pitches fat.
Something we encounter in the U.S. is deep Bermuda rough around greens. The technique I use there is something I observed Phil Mickelson use with his flop shots: open the face of the club and hammer it down vertically into the ground just behind the ball so slides under and it hits the spongy grass and ground beneath it and bounces back up vertically under the ball lifting it nearly vertically like a mortar round. That technique also works, albeit less predictably, in very tall grass which would snag any attempt to sweep through the ball normally.

Thanks this helped me a lot, my short game was decent and went downhill. I was too focused on hitting the ball and wasn’t following thru with the handle pointing in the proper spot at the finish. Doing that the ball pops out so soft and from there so much easier to control distance!

Fantastic instruction Danny, thanks for demystifying the chipping around the green conundrum, I always struggle to decide how to play these shots around the green, now with your help in this great video I now know what shot to play and just focus on executing that technique as you demonstrated. This will save me shots , many thanks, Stuart

Another GREAT video! Over the last few rounds I've been "forcing" myself to have the confidence to make that smooth follow through after ball contact around the green, instead of 'stabbing" it on: what a difference! Over the previous 20 games I was +2.2 SG.....over last 5 it's 3.1SG. Closer to the hole, virtually no thin or chunked shots. Your plain & simple style makes this so easy.👏👏👏
