It is probably Danny has some kind of charm that has gotten or oozes (ooooohh) into my brain and hence the bulb in my head lighted up.. the a-ha thingy. Got to tried it and works
I love the fact that you covered multiple types of chips. You are an amazing person. Thanks for all you do and for the knowledge you continue to share. God bless you
Found your lessons and must say my favorite is the one teaching your dad how to develop some swing speed with the driver. I'm 78 years old and must say, I tried the technique yesterday and gained so much more distance. Thanks for that and the only advice to my fellow seniors is to add a stretching exercise program to give our senior bodies a little more flexibility. Thanks, Danny!
1000S Of videos and his is the best !!! I was having problems with my driver, I did exactly what he said to do, It was odd but I walked one the 1ST Tee, set up like he told me and I blasted the drive carrying over 275 yards ! And I tried it with my 3 Hybrid and it flew 283 yards ! Also chipping, I was 109 yards from the green on a Par 5 , I hit the bunker trying to get om in 3, The ball was on the front hump of the bunker but on the back side so I'm hitting almost straight up, I used a 9 iron know i would got higher than longer ,I leaned back and had my shoulders even with the ground and it landed right at the pin ! I would have shot one of my best games ever but I put two balls in the water, cost me 4 strokes on 2 holes ! but this guy changed my game beyond my expectations. But Practice practice practice but don't hit 50 balls on the range, hit a few and go play !
Watched this video and the next day golfing I found myself in very similar situations around the greens & right away I thought okay lets try out these chipping techniques. I did at least 6 practice swings each time before hitting the ball to get the feel of what you were saying. They all worked out GREAT I could not believe how well each shot ended , all leaving just a very short putt, thank you for the great tip and explanation on the proper way of holding the club.
I put this video up on a tripod and I was able to view each tip prior hitting the ball (practicing around a green). I was the choker and hitting everything flat until this video. What a difference you just made in my short game. I am so thankful I found you!!
Hi, Danny, You have helped me on all the short game ways to get to the hole and finish out, but can i say without been critical , say that of all your instructions as to positioning, alignment , weight, control, though very informative club selection is lacking in distance and in bunkers, thank you I am 74 years and ta broke 90 today well done to you for your imput for me.
Danny is the man! I was stuck at 83 - 85 scores. Watched and practiced his techniques. You have to practice to make it muscle memory. I shot 78 and 79 last week. I missed 3 putts under 3 feet :( 53 years old with multiple body injuries so Danny's advice works for everyone..
Upright/toe down chipping has helped me a lot but that was great little add on about the bare lies & having a wedge with toe relief. Also- parallel shoulders to the slope, Danny. Perpendicular for when you need to nap or have a good cry.
I've watched this video multiple times as it's been SOOOO helpful with my chipping. It's actually helped me love golf again (I had lost interest for a few years, because I wasn't getting any improvement and didn't know how to fix my mistakes). Thanks so much Danny! Also...it's amazing to watch how close to the hole all your shots land. You're truly an all-star!
Hi Danny! Thank you so much for you videos. I’m learning to play golf and because of you I went from barely being able to swing to getting my first birdie!!
This is the best golf tutorial video I've ever seen. It worked for me first time, on the course (I know, I know, I should have at least spent 20 minutes practicing at the range, but I'm human, so I didn't bother my ar$e). I did one practice swing and then hit a perfect chip. Danny, you're the man!
Thank you for a comprehensive guide to chipping around the green. There are a lot of adjustments needed to suit the different lies & distances to the flag. You made it look easy .You must have spent a long time practising. Older club golfers might not be able to drive long distances but we can improve our short game. Renewed thanks for an excellent video.
A lot of mates that have struggled with flop shots, I tell them it's like driver swing, wider stance, forward ball position and no forward shaft lean and imagine the ball has a driver tee buried and you're gonna try snap the top of the tee with the wedge, that visualisation has helped
Thank you Danny! I am fairly new to the golf and just the other day was in the situation near a green in thick grass on a slope and literary didn't know what to do. This video is very helpful. Explains lots of things. And what I like most is you not telling us what to do, but explain why. This is really great. Thanks again!
As I am now in the older golfer category and the distances are dropping off, these short game tips are one area that I can now improve on. Thanks Danny.
If you want to dramatically improve your game then subscribe to these videos.I’m 73 years old and have struggled with my game for 40 years, usually shooting in the 98 to 104 range. I’ve taken private lessons with very little success. About 2 years ago I discovered the Danny Maude videos. His lessons are easy to understand and have dramatically changed my game. Thanks to the Danny Maude videos I am now consistently shooting scores between 80-84 regardless of what courses I’m playing on. Thanks Danny!!!
One of the best chipping masterclass training video that I have seen in a long time. Especially the high flop from below the green with ball buried in thick rough. Need soft hands of Severiano Ballesteros.
Simple instructions…great technique! I will replay this vid many times….shoulders, 45 degree left foot, let club fall, watch where club grip points to on follow thru…..I have some back yard chipping practice to do. Gotta relax when I chip, I rarely get it airborne, hitting it thin, or over strike it long.
Stumbled on here idk how, former D1 for golf at a northern school. I watched every video and was obsessed with the why of how golf balls do what they do growing up. I only had 1 swing coach who gave me that knowledge on what and why and how to shape the golf ball for full swings. Although I eventually intuited alot of how bounce works and how to stand and move to create spin, height, and how to impact a ball based on the lie given through feel alone vis-a-vie thousands of hours…I do feel like this video could have saved several hundred hours or more, and many, many divots at my home course growing up, if it had been out there when I was learning. TLDR: very eloquent and purposeful delivery and well done to say it with such brevity
Fantastic info, thank you. I'm totally confused with how many wedges I should use, what degree loft and what bounce too. I won't even mention the grind. The golf courses where I play are usually hard and dry, but more so in winter. Any advice?
Can I just say as someone who is from a different country that your way of speaking and your accent is so great lol 🤣 swinging beautifully up the hill 🤣 I'm not at all making fun so please don't get it wrong. I genuinely appreciate your time ,.cadence ,.and your particular vernacular. Also I have greatly improved my swing all thanks to your instruction and dedication to detail.
Thank you for showing what the wrists do! All the others keep saying use a putting stroke, but who uses their wrists when putting? Now I know why it hasn’t been working! Thanks mate
Another great chipping video. I have gotten worlds better with my around the green chipping with your help. I love using the toe of the club and getting straighter up helps me keep my body position where I set up and I’ve now dropped atleast 5-8 shots per round with this technique. My drives have improved with your other videos but my chipping has lowered my score the most. I am now consistent low 90- high 80 every round with an occasional low 80. Still working towards the break 80. Keep the great tips coming my friend
Can’t wait to try this on the course. You just helped me understand why I can nail these shots from some lies and why I absolutely struggle from others. I was using the same setup and swing for every shot near the green. Thank you for explaining in such clear terms.
@@DanielMaude Just by coincidence, I was practicing your advice earlier today! I’m definitely not blading my green side shots like I used to. Working on distance control and spin now.
Another great lesson. Something which helped me understand club face / ball interaction and how shaft angle affects it was to put ball and club on a table top and get down and view it at eye level. It made me realize that as loft increases the leading edge slides further under the ball before the face makes contact. It made me realize I should be aiming the leading edge of the club, my visual reference, at the middle-to-front of the ball instead of the back as I realized I had been before analyzing the cause and effect interaction. I stopped hitting my chips and pitches fat. Something we encounter in the U.S. is deep Bermuda rough around greens. The technique I use there is something I observed Phil Mickelson use with his flop shots: open the face of the club and hammer it down vertically into the ground just behind the ball so slides under and it hits the spongy grass and ground beneath it and bounces back up vertically under the ball lifting it nearly vertically like a mortar round. That technique also works, albeit less predictably, in very tall grass which would snag any attempt to sweep through the ball normally.
Some people pay thousands of dollars to get this quality of instruction and Danny does it because he wants to see the average golfer like myself improve their game. I am the head golf coach at Bellaire High School in Houston, Tx and I recommend these videos to all of my players - and they work!
I'm glad you mentioned with the good lie that you should choose the club that works best for you, that a 56 degree isn't the only "best" club. You might have included the club you select for a chip and run could be dependent on the amount of green you have to cover.
Hi Danny another great video, I have been having problems chipping of bare ground, I have a lot of bare patches in my lawn so I shall be practising this. There's just one thing, you talk about different degrees of loft on your wedges and different grindings, my irons 5 through to SW that's all I have, it would be nice if you did a video using bog standard clubs. I am sure there are others out there who only have a PW and SW.
Whenever I lose hope I just always come back to a Danny Maude vid. Going back to putting/chipping/pitching following these vids and its working. 8hours of practice a week. One day I believe I will be able to hit irons/woods/driver
absolutely brilliant, I'm a new golfer and while my game is generally poor all round chipping so far has been my better bit, but I don't really understand how and why some shots are good and others don't go quite as planned. This really helps me to figure it out, particularly how to get out of the longer stuff, as I rarely find the fairway.
Your chipping drills helped a ton. Last time out I had a short side chip out of heavy rough into a green running about 12. Lipped it out. Now I have confidence for 1st time in a part of the game that was a vulnerability. Thanks!!
Hi Danny a great video as always well explained in a very easy to understand way. You video with Pete Cowan is one of my go to videos when my short game is off just to check Back to the basics again. I always approach chips and pitches with Pete’s attitude that I’m “just messing around” it relaxes me and makes me swing loose and smooth, and my only thought is pressure the club down. It’s transformed my short game. Thank you from a Yorkshire man in Spain 🇪🇸
@@DanielMaude I've been using tips from your videos for a while now and my chipping has improved no end. Your recent pitching video has really helped as well because I probably hadn't twigged just how different the actions are and you explained them really well; thanks!
Hi Danny. I started of as a 36 handicapper and got as low as 21. I have always been able to play as you call it the fun shot and I chip like a 36 handicapper. Some times I will flop it to avoid chipping, if the lie is okay. But I am going to spend a lot more time practicing chipping because your video painted a clear picture for me, thanks mate!
Danny, I always enjoy your short game videos. My Short Game has improved dramatically watching them over the last few years, especially my bunker play. Thanks for another great video
Wow just found these while I was watching Achilles pain remedies...This is where its at put that long club away want lower scores this guy is the key..
Let the club drop down on the ball. So simple! I've been trying to chip with my arms in that A frame and constantly "skulling" the ball. I watch 5 minutes of you explaining and suddenly I'm knocking them consistently....across the basement and into the laundry basket. It's western Canada in the winter, we do what we can. Again, though, thanks for the lesson. I've only discovered your videos in the last month but they are brilliant. Cheers!
Love this video Just what I needed to know to get the feel of what it takes to chip around the green. Your video's are the best training, easy to understand I tell all my hackers to get on board to learn some great techniques Cheers Tracey kiama Australia
Chipping and pitching have been the weakest parts of my game, can’t wait to start practicing these shots! Thanks for the tips, I’ll be sure to pass your channel along to my golf buddies!!
This is awesome Danny! I love working on these types of shots. Trevino talks about using the bounce, and you gave us an excellent detailed breakdown of how to work it.
Thanks this helped me a lot, my short game was decent and went downhill. I was too focused on hitting the ball and wasn’t following thru with the handle pointing in the proper spot at the finish. Doing that the ball pops out so soft and from there so much easier to control distance! ⛳️🏌️♂️☀️
Fantastic instruction Danny, thanks for demystifying the chipping around the green conundrum, I always struggle to decide how to play these shots around the green, now with your help in this great video I now know what shot to play and just focus on executing that technique as you demonstrated. This will save me shots , many thanks, Stuart
This is fantastic! Thank you so much for putting this out and covering those different lies. OUTSTANDING advise. I can't wait to use this right away. Now, need to watch a few more times to make sure i got it on lock down.
Thank you for your time and energy to create these videos to help others and grow the game of golf. They are well produced and your passion can be seen! Thank you again
@@DanielMaude Give praise when praise is due! Golf is helping my in all areas of life. Slowing down, educating myself, making corrections for the next opportunity.
Another GREAT video! Over the last few rounds I've been "forcing" myself to have the confidence to make that smooth follow through after ball contact around the green, instead of 'stabbing" it on: what a difference! Over the previous 20 games I was +2.2 SG.....over last 5 it's 3.1SG. Closer to the hole, virtually no thin or chunked shots. Your plain & simple style makes this so easy.👏👏👏
Danny I am willing to hit your online lessons, honestly this is very purified data to learn from, I started following like 3 years ago and I can notice improvements on recording, production etc. Thanks a lot.

Your chipping drills helped a ton. Last time out I had a short side chip out of heavy rough into a green running about 12. Lipped it out. Now I have confidence for 1st time in a part of the game that was a vulnerability. Thanks!!
Brilliant Peter, happy to hear it 👍
These tips are really interesting, thank You very much, Danny! You're always the best!
Appreciate that Stefano
Yes indeed. Let the club drop and flow. Let the club do most of the work. Thanks again Danny for your discussions about bounce.

Excellent tutorial covering the variety of chip shots experienced by most golfers.
Excellent video Danny!
Probably the best I've seen discussing chipping from bad lies.
Hope it helps your chip shots around the green Joseph
That’s awesome to hear Doug, thanks for sharing
Have watched this vid a couple of times to help recap what I need to do. Really helps how he explains his reasoning prior to taking his shot
Wow just found these while I was watching Achilles pain remedies...This is where its at put that long club away want lower scores this guy is the key..
Thank you David!
Cheers!
Love this video
Just what I needed to know to get the feel of what it takes to chip around the green.
Your video's are the best training, easy to understand
I tell all my hackers to get on board to learn some great techniques
Cheers Tracey kiama Australia
Really kind of you to support the channel Tracey
Chipping and pitching have been the weakest parts of my game, can’t wait to start practicing these shots! Thanks for the tips, I’ll be sure to pass your channel along to my golf buddies!!
Have fun Kory
Excellent presentation, Danny. Great timing for our new season in Canada!
Thanks Jeff!
Another great video Danny. The visualisation of swing under a table top has really transformed my chipping.
That’s brilliant Colin
Such great coaching. You helped me get my woods right!
Really happy to help
Great lesson Danny! Great reminder of how to play different shots around the green, where it counts the most! 👍
Happy to help Daniel
Thanks Danny. Love you tips and tricks. Just wish I lived closer to you for a 1 on 1 lesson.
One of favourite, and most needed, golf videos on YT - Thanks Danny, outstanding!
Absolutely stunning chipping lesson!
This is awesome Danny! I love working on these types of shots. Trevino talks about using the bounce, and you gave us an excellent detailed breakdown of how to work it.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙏
absolutely amazing, totally changed my understanding of chipping...thank you.
Brilliant to hear
Best chipping video I’ve watched. Clear and concise.👍
Very useful video for actually chipping, thanks a lot
Pleasure Andy, love to hear how you get on
Great video Danny, I've really struggled with chipping lately so it helps to see you cover all types of lies and the approach needed for each one 👍
Well worth my sub stopped my slice now 220 yard straight carry
Nothing like a big drive though is there
Thanks this helped me a lot, my short game was decent and went downhill. I was too focused on hitting the ball and wasn’t following thru with the handle pointing in the proper spot at the finish. Doing that the ball pops out so soft and from there so much easier to control distance!

Happy to help Jeremy 👍⛳️
Brilliant. A great help.
Thanks Alisdair 😁
One of your best lessions especially informative!
Thanks Michael 😁
Fantastic instruction Danny, thanks for demystifying the chipping around the green conundrum, I always struggle to decide how to play these shots around the green, now with your help in this great video I now know what shot to play and just focus on executing that technique as you demonstrated. This will save me shots , many thanks, Stuart
Really happy to help
Danny...you did an excellent job on this video. You are a great explainer! Well done.
Thank you Kevin!
Enjoyed that one Danny my chipping has definitely improved in the last six weeks thanks to you 😊
Amazing, happy to help
Love this video Danny! I have to work on this but learned so much!
All the best Cathy
Thank you for another wonderful lesson session.
Thank you Nathan 😁
This is fantastic! Thank you so much for putting this out and covering those different lies. OUTSTANDING advise. I can't wait to use this right away. Now, need to watch a few more times to make sure i got it on lock down.
Danny is the best in online instruction that I have seen!
Thank you for your time and energy to create these videos to help others and grow the game of golf. They are well produced and your passion can be seen! Thank you again
Really appreciate the support
@@DanielMaude Give praise when praise is due! Golf is helping my in all areas of life. Slowing down, educating myself, making corrections for the next opportunity.
Don’t know how you keep devising brilliant golf instruction. Once again Danny top class.
Danny Maude, YOU are the man! really enjoy your lessons. TY
You are very welcome
Thank you so much for your videos. They have helped me become a better golfer. Thank you.
Thank you Ty 😁
Thank you so much for this video, it has been a game changer over my last 3 rounds of golf
That’s wonderful Fiona
Great instructions!! Will try these methods next time out!!
Thank you Jose 😁
Some fantastic shot savers there Danny. Many thanks.
Thank you Brian!
Thanks for another great video Danny, my game has improved a lot, 👍 👌 God bless you 🙏
Mate you're a legend, I always mess up my shot whenever my ball is landed on the Slope and on hard soil, Definitely gonna give it a try the next time I'm playing, cheers
Love to hear how it goes
Best instruction video so far. Just wondering if every golf course in Britain has 10 youtubers? I've found so many over the past month
There’s certainly been quite a few people trying to get into RUclips
Thank you for the lesson in lie reading and how to react to each type of lie the ball may be in.
Really interesting and useful as this is definitely my area of most concern - I drop so many shots within chipping range!
Hope this helps Robert
Best chipping lesson ever....
Really happy to help
Excellent instruction on chipping from around the green. I finally & truly learned how to set up and visualize these shots. Now to go out and execute them on the course. Thank you!
Absolutely brilliant, I have comp on Monday I'll try this tip as the one before saved me at least 2 shots.
It is 11 o'clock at night. I can't wait until the morning when i can get out and practice.
You are a true genius.
Thanks Danny.
Thank you Pat 😁
Great stuff. Learned something on the toe grind. FYI, perpendicular is 90°. 😊
