  • ►A golf grip has a huge impact on how the golf club is delivered to the golf ball during the swing, with a poor grip the clubface and shaft angles will be inconsistent causing swing manipulations will in turn cause poor shots. Getting the set up correct isone aspect we as golfers are completely in control of albeit it can sometimes feel awkward to change but the benefits outway the bad shots for sure!

I have a strong right hand grip. Left is pretty good. I took a golf lesson today and the coach pointed this out and changed my grip at the beginning of the lesson. It felt so unnatural that it ruined the rest of the lesson.

Great detail of the grip and it's effect on swing.

That I learned very early while learning my swing that the grip is the most important part. Thanks

you explain the "why" really well.
I've noticed i've been getting really steep on the backswing and had no idea why.
this explained. Made a quick change and noticed the takeaway is a lot less steep straight away

I'd like to think I have a fairly neutral grip but I'll check it out when I get to the practice range.
I love this sort of vlog which gets back to the basics; they are so important

Used these tips at the range over the weekend, really got me thinking and checking my grip rather than just getting hold of the club and going for it. Really helped and felt like i was setting up consistently (which I struggle with) thanks.
Just wondering, have you done any videos of how the Dubai move came about and anything on how you've changed your swing or setup over the years? Just curious that’s all.

Really helpful Video Andy. I’m guilty of a strong grip. Keen to get to the range now to try neutralise it 👍🏼

Great lesson, I sometimes go off to the left because my grip is too strong. I will definitely take your points on board and see how my grip works next time I am on the range or playing...Which is every other day.

Strong grip, especially on driver because my miss is a huge slice! my irons are more neutral.
Interesting how you say a strong grip can stop you shallowing the swing and coming from inside to out, I am going to go to the range tomorrow and try a more neutral grip and focus on swing path to see if that works for me.

I have a very strong grip always have done since a junior! One coach tried to change but couldn’t stop slicing after the change. I think to change the grip requires more swing changes to compensate. We would love to do something on this and see how long it would take to make a full change

    • @andycartergolf
      @andycartergolf  3 года назад +1

Yes definitely, the grip change needs to have a swing adjustment too but even the change in the grip can help that.
Also a new level of compensation to start with too in order for the clubface to square up at impact

Juniors are different. They are so hand-eye co-ordinated plus they naturally do this grip as it feels more powerful so right now I’d leave it

    Mines too weak.
Causes a weak cutty shot and really difficult to feel like I’m turning my hands over at impact.
When I go to a strong grip I slowly slip back to my old ways lol.
