I'm not from Tamil Nadu, but I spent a good number of years there. When I first started kdramas, I was soo surprised at how similar Korean sounded to Tamil. Not just the words like Amma and appa but even the tone that they speak. It has the same rhythm to it. I immediately Googled it to know more. Honestly I thought I was a genius for pointing it out 😂
Appa and amma are even same in Kannada too..
I m nt even tamil but i spent 5-6 yrs in a tamil neighborbood, when i started kdramas i was surprised with the accent too it reminds me of tamilians

Earliest Evidence of Tamil language is the Sangam Literature of around 300 BC
Earliest Evidence of Telugu language is found in Bhattiprolu Scrip of around 400 BC
Earliest Well recorded Evidence of Sanskrit language is from Syria under Mitanni Kingdom which ruled between 1500 and 1350 BC and which too is the Late Vedic Sanskrit. Funny thing is Malaylis can talk in Malayalam and Tamils can talk in Tamil and yet we can understand each other.
that's not quite true... malayalam was derived from the common ancestor of tamil and malayalam. all languages are constantly changing, including tamil. if a tamil speaker from today had a time machine and went back 1000 years, they would not be able to understand people speaking tamil. you can say spanish and portuguese were both derived from latin, but you can't say portuguese was derived from spanish.

For example: 1. There are women sea pearl divers only in TN and Korea in the world since olden days. 2. Lifting a round cut rock with flat base to get married to a girl 3. Elongated ears which was only done in TN and Korea. 4. More than 500 exact words is similar but 3000 or so diagnosed to Tamil and Korean 5. Kimchi is similarly made to Tamil pickel, mandu etc 6. Girls game were small stone is thrown in the air and before it comes down quickly collecting small stones underneath and finally catching the stone which was thrown in the air, etc (for more info google) all thanks to history where Tamil princess married Korean king 2000 years ago, it is said she went with whole lot of people like personal workers, tailors etc

In Indian languages the vowel and consonants are combined to vocalise... Each consonant can vary phonetics from 13-17 different vocalisations according to the combining vowel...

@@abhi_nav1525 Malayalam was indeed originated from Tamil. But kerala has got the habit of welcoming. So the influence of sanskrit and then English, may very well be seen with Malayalam. Since Trivandrum and then some region, were in Tamil Nadu before centuries, you can still feel that hybrid Malayalam-Tamil words,slangs and accents, along those borders.

We were upto Philippenes and Indonesia as late as 300 years ago, and ofcourse, we had a lot of influence in Japan and Korea too. So its not that shocking.

Even, many words like Papa, Father, appa, Padre come from Sanskrit word 'Pita'. Even the word GOD in English has originated from the word Hutam from Sanskrit. Hutam -- Gutam (german) -- God.

The reasons of the two languages being similar is rooted millenia ago, when humans migrated to continents to search food and water!
Dravidians led a lot of expeditions to China, Japan, Korea, etc; to either trade(either items or culture), for asking reinforcements, to send help or capture.
Also, Aryan culture is believed to be spread throughout the world in Ancient times.
Whether the Indus valley civilization was ArAryansor Dravidians like Hadappa civilization , Mohe-jo-daro etc.....

It's my personalopinion but one use of such a study could be for commercial purposes, to attract more tourists or buyers or even political purposes, to make the citizens more favorable towards a friendship between these two countries. There's also anthropology, the science that studies human societies. Behavioral patterns, psychology. Recently I've realised something funny. And that is Jabby can notice a slightest resemblance in two songs and declare that they are the same song or one of them is inspired by the other. I'm not trying to demean him and I'm not particularly talking about the songs played here as well.
I have just noticed him always pointing out "this song sounds like or is inspired by that song" even though the only similarity might be something very basic like a few notes being the same or maybe the percussion being similar.
What I'm trying to say is that the inspiration and sometimes many people call out things like plagiarism is not always the case even if it sounds similar to your ears. Since there are only a few basic sounds we use to make songs and those sounds are arranged and rearranged in several ways to make new music, finding two songs similar doesn't necessarily mean that one of them is inspired or worse plagiarised version of the other.
