    Reviews of clothing, boots, and accessories for men, along with style advice and life philosophy. I've been working with my hands for my entire life as a mechanic, tow truck driver, and eventually a licensed electrician. Being a blue collar guy, I look for certain elements in a product: is it durable? Is it high-quality? Will it perform well over its service life? Whether boots, pants, jackets, or tools I believe it's best to buy once and cry once by getting the best you can afford. With so many options these days, choosing the best product can become a difficult decision, but that's where I come in. Helping you stay stylish, rugged, and handsome.
    I don't care where it's made as long as it's made well and allows you to buy fewer, better things.

    You guys make me smile. I just turned 70, and strongly because of you, Carl, I ordered a pair of Nick's boots (made to order Overlanders, should get them anytime now). I hope I live long enough to break them in...LOL. BTW, many cowboy boots have had double pull on loops for many decades, but not hidden inside of course.

    Great video, guys. Your banter is very enjoyable. I gotta say, getting into higher end clothing has been an exercise in frustration for me. I have spent a lot of money on boots I don’t like, I have bought a number of leather jackets and vests that don’t really work for me, and the prospect of spending a few hundred per piece for more stuff I won’t wear has burned me out to a large degree.
    I do love my Schott Storm, which I waited 3 months for. the sleeves are a little long but I love it. I am glad for that. I am trying to put together a fresh wardrobe for a 50-something who has mostly worn t-shirts and cargo shorts casually, and high end suits professionally, in a world where no one wears suits and I don’t want to dress like a preppie.
    The main thing for me is comfort and functionality. And honestly, a lot of clothes out there are lacking in one or both.

    Very interesting convo....You are so right Albert, when you mentioned the difference between receiving a freebie from somewhere/someone versus laying down your own hard earned cash...I reckon your level of appreciation for an article is far greater, not to mention how powerful it is to make an expensive considered purchase for yourself as opposed to being given it. Carl also does a brilliant job as host by allowing his guests to talk, only interjecting where it adds to the convo or sharing his own experiences with a certain item.

    As long as you’re buying something in a classic style that won’t go out of fashion and will last a long time, buying quality is probably worth it- if you wear it enough and have already set aside money for your old age, your kids, a house, etc. If I’m only going to use a tool a few times, I’ll get the Home Depot or Harbor Freight brand, not Dewalt.

    • @CarlMurawski
      @CarlMurawski  2 года назад +3

      Definitely agreed. I just had this conversation about Snap On tool boxes versus Harbor Freight. When I’m using it all day, every day, I’ll get the Snap On. For the weekend warrior, a base level Harbor Freight is just fine. Though I’ve heard good things about their US General line.

    Love these conversations with the both of you, please, more and more! As for quality, cost and why, hmm, here are my thoughts for what they are worth.
    For me over the years the equation comes to this. The more you invest your passion and interest in a particular subject the more important becomes the quality of that subject.
    If you have a passion for philosophy then the more you learn about the subject the more you desire to seek out the highest quality information and authors on that subject with which to base and improve your knowledge of the subject. It’s like you learn to cut out the dross to get to the meat and bones of it all and when you do that you not only save time and energy as you simply will not waste those things on the lowest form any more, why on earth would you when you know there are better, more reliable and sustainable answers.
    It is the same with “things” if you have a passion and deep seated interest then that can only be fueled and satisfied by seeking out the very best as the very best is the end game and you then even if it costs more actually save money and time and energy by not spending it on things you know simply won’t satisfy your knowledge and depth of commitment you have invested, does that make any sense or am I just rambling?🤓

      Just my 2 cents, I bought one and did not like the city they use. It’s a thicker cotton thread in a looser weave and feels thick/heavy but isn’t the warmest. I personally prefer a much tighter weave fabric with a smoother surface. Also the light blue fabric on the inside of the collar doesn’t match a lot of their shirt colors and can ruin the look when unbuttoned IMO.

    Frustrating how Albert mumbled his way through this. Could you ask him to speak up a bit next time?

      Sponsorships and advertising are how entertainment stays financially solvent. In order to purchase $500 worth of white tee shirts to compare, or $1,000 worth of coolers to review requires capital. I’m thankful that brands like Original Grain are willing to sponsor my videos.

    I really dislike those tall boots. Looks like I’m gonna ride a bike or a wild horse. I’d rather wear parkhurst, Thursday boots or something slim like grant stones.
