I got a Banana Republic peacoat about 8 years ago. It's not available anymore, but it is the style with a removable "liner" in the hem, which is more just like a fake layer, since it doesn't actually line the cost, just closes off the usual gaps a peacoat would leave - the front of the chest, and neck. It's a fantastic coat, and I wear it as my fall/winter go to coat. They're super versatile, especially with the removable fake layer.
I did not take care of it, but the exterior looks great, I just need to reline it 😅

@@justicebinder6544 I got mine through bison trading out of Vancouver and it is an aero leather jacket. From what I’ve read they are very high end in the leather work and they actually had the contract to make them for the American military during ww2. It was made to measure. I couldn’t be happier with both aero and bison trading. I paid 1800 if i remember correctly. So not the most expensive of the b7 models but i can’t complain in any way about the jacket

    • @justicebinder6544

@@KyleMeyer949 not cheap by any measure either. Something I’ll probably hold off on till I have more money. I live in Missouri, and it definitely can be well below freezing here but it’s not THAT cold where I need a b7.

Love the Alberta shout out. I work snow removal up here in the far north of the province where with the windchill it gets to minus 83 degrees Fahrenheit on occasion. I bought some of the fleeces you mentioned in your cold weather videos and they have been a huge upgrade over my typical mid layer (usually a Sherpa lined flannel or a crew neck). However with the workers on the oil fields and construction sites here you rarely actually see heavy parkas unless it's people who do not move much like equipment operators or sign holders. Typically it's just heavy bibs or coveralls and a lighter jacket. This is to prevent sweating.

  • @ejcandrin

Good list. I would add a dedicated rain coat, especially if you live in the PNW. Also I get a lot more use out of my down puffer than my parka. I get way too hot in the latter unless it's 0F / -15C or lower.

For leather jackets the BEST quality/price ratio I've ever found is Soul Revolver. Fantastic wide range of styles for around $400-500. Sounds like a lot but honestly anything less isn't worthwhile, just get denim.
I highly recommend their Ghost Rider which is a simplified classic 50's style and the Café Racer style, a bit more modern. Both have the back pleats/gussets that allow a slimmer fit with ease of motion. Their bonber styles are great too.

On overcoats, size your first one like a pea coat. To fit on a thick sweater not a suit jacket, looks way better on days you don't need a suit jacket underneath. Pair it with a nice paisley scarf and you're good to go. I have 9 of them in wool melton wool twill, cotton twill and leather. If you're tall, long coats are the only way to go.

This was pretty humorous. The FOUR coats you need, then Carl reels off 45 of em. Also consider some of us move around a lot for work. What works at 10 below is not the same as 25-35 and wet. What works on land is not the same as with a pair of waders. What works in dry isn't the same as a coat you'd wear in the driving rain of the Olympic Rain Forest. It also depends on the needs of the activity. Are you backpacking or sitting still? Are you continually exerting or working in pulses. If I think about it I MIGHT whittle it down to 8 or 8 coats. That's a bit more than four.

@@WeEmptyRooms 😆 no worries man. I can only speak to the things Ive experienced, you know? I haven’t lived anywhere besides this region.
And damn I just thought Bluey was the show my kids watch, not a cool wool jacket company! Will definitely check them out.
