I absolutely refuse to believe that after 10 years no one ever tried reversing at the start of this race. Even by accident, look at gta for example people are accidentally finding exploits every bloody week and the player base isn’t that big anymore.
Literally the first time anybody ran that race, with that many people, SOMEBODY would have gone backwards, possibly even by accident. And considering nobody has ever beaten the track, you have to wonder why everyone keeps playing it like a death race instead of scattering to look for secrets.

You can’t tell me in that time someone didn’t drop their controller and accidentally reverse. Not to mention that there were legit teams of people getting paid to complete the level. Saw this movie in IMAX and i was blown away , what makes this scene so awsome is no music , no score ,just explosion, crashes ,cars speeding up, breaking , bike reving up ,t -rex roaring just spectacular scene

GOD DAMN this was groundbreaking VFX! I never thought about it when I was a kid, but these VFX shots seem so alive, yet they will still always be nearly impossible. A perfect example of the digital computer being used artistically to achieve that 0.001% of what seems impossible.
A futuristic simulation and no one has a parser to figure out the race is impossible. And adaptive, or else someone would have made trainers to perfect muscle memory.
1. It may have an advanced algorithm, considering the dev could make a much more complex NPC at the end of film. So the patterns are hard to predict, like roguelike games 2. The race arent made to be finished. With tons of player, we could work together to find some glitch but still, we don't know how capable the dev are 3. It's a kill = restart type of game. You would bet tons would try at first, but less are interested to join. Remaking acc every single time? Hell we don't know what you need to try the race (max rank etc) 4. The plot are just kinda dumb bcs how could NOONE actually try to go backwards. At least let em do some secret stuff instead just driving backwards

A parser would have discovered, in theory, that Kong always beat anyone with a perfect run. #4 agreed. It was great popcorn but can't really try for any depth to it. I'm trying to remember when the book was written. Not pre-Internet but definitely has issues with how gaming has evolved.
So what if IOI had eliminated players who knew the secrets before they could attempt them by killing the avatars in game or the actual person in real life?

Only if you 100% knew the second and third key locations and solutions would you delay. IOI was portrayed as having no tact or strategy aside from spamming the race with paid racers.
Currently watching the movie and oh my god. This race scene was insanely without a doubt, not a joke, this is everything. EVERYTHING! I am shocked and impressed. This is the best movie I've ever seen! I enjoyed how they included the Plymouth Christine 1958, Batmobile, and the van from GTA V bikers at 0:27. I'm not 100% sure about the van, but I am very familiar with it on the right, there's also the DeLorean, NASCAR cars, Mach 5, and everything! Everything! If Lightning McQueen, Guy Gagne's car, Brian O'connor's skyline, or anything else was included, it would spice up this scene even more and bring more joy and appeal!
