Actually, there is a bus that goes to and from the airport, and stops at various places along the way. Additionally, you can get a shared taxi if you're willing to wait a few minutes. There are companies that organize that as soon as you exit the luggage area.
That’s great information thank for you sharing that - does that bus begin from centro historico?
@@TravellingWithCon Transvip, CentroPuerto and/or Turbus. Many options
@@TravellingWithCon There are actually two. One (CentroPuerto) goes to just outside Los Heroes subway station, and starts from there too. The other one (Turbus) goes to Terminal Alameda. I presume it starts from there too on the way back, but I don't know for sure as I've only taken it one way.

@@TravellingWithCon this was a spur of the moment trip. Today is their independence day so just about everything closed for the week but enjoying the sights
There is a bus (free) that leaves you on a “red” station (public transport) and you can ride that red bus to get you on the metro (subway) for one ticket (around 1USD) then you can go everywhere in the city from there

@ it could be a bit cheaper but there is no much difference I am afraid , although the north also worth a visit, specially San Pedro de Atacama 😍

About what you told of the bus baggage, that’s not quite true. We don’t pay or give them a tip. I don’t know where have you seen this, but we don’t do that.
There were guys at the main Santiago de Chile international bus terminal demanding payment for taking suitcases off of the bus and handing the suitcases over to use - this certainly did happen! I saw it with my own eyes, I was there!

Do you mean getting luggage in the bus? Or taking luggage outside of the bus at the end of the journey?

@@Mermaid324 i honestly don’t know to be honest, but I would imagine so. They didn’t take Argentinian pesos at the time, that’s all I remember 😭
