    • @franciscofuentes8916
      @franciscofuentes8916 5 лет назад +1

      Fly! Trips that are too long will not be comfortable. The only good reason to do that is that you absolutely don't want to do anything in between and you had no time to book a domestic flight. Assuming you don't wanna visit anything in between you could book a domestic flight to Arica and take a bus there to La Paz but there you'd have to compare between the international flight straight to La Paz and the domestic flight. Really you don't wanna spend a day or two on a bus.

    • @prime8nate
      @prime8nate 5 лет назад +1

      That would take forever. It would be at least two days and you'd want a sleeper bus. Break up the journey by stopping at places in between. Better yet, fly, although be ready to start gasping for air when you get off the plane....La Paz has seriously thin air. The crazy bike ride from up above La Paz down to the jungle below was unforgettable. Don't miss it but dress for all sorts of weather. Lake Titicaca is great, too, although I had trouble sleeping because the air was so thin. Might have been better to give myself more time to get used to the altitude.

    For inexpensive air travel in Chile, or to and from Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, or Peru checkout jetsmart.com/us/en/ airfares, but be advised the seat back angles cannot be adjusted, so if you have a bad back, you might want to limit your flight time to 2 hours or less.

      My wife got whistled at a bit and some men would yell "Chinita" at her (she's Japanese ancestry) but that was the extent of it. We lived in Santiago for three years. If you have a basic understanding of which parts of Santiago, Valpo, etc. are safe and which aren't it's not especially bad. Not many companies are going to compare favorably with Sweden in this regard.

      As a gringo, I'd say Chilean Spanish was the hardest to understand for me. I lived in Santiago for three years and got used to it but it was really hard to understand at first. All the "Ja po, si po, cachai" was really confusing. It sounded like a totally different language. I haven't had as much problems with Dominican and Cuban Spanish. Did you go to Punta Cana? That seemed to be a very popular vacation destination with my co-workers. The easiest Spanish for me to understand is Colombian and Peruvian.
