As an Argentinian, I can say that everything Nicki said in this video is 100% spot on!
The smallest correction I will make is that, while true that ordering water at a restaurant will result in you getting bottled water that you have to pay for, you can instead ask specifically for tap water (agua de la canilla /ka-NEE-sha/) and they will bring you a glass free of charge.
Love you Argentina 💜
From Bangladesh 🇧🇩
THANK YOU for saying that Buenos Aires is NOT the Paris of South America!! I have always hated that comparison and it doesn’t let BA shine for all its own amazing things. BA is so much better than Paris❤️
Right!? BA is SO much better than Paris, and they are totally different. BA should be appreciated for what it is without this silly comparison!
@@NickiPostsTravelStuff i think most people understand it's a simple metaphor regarding BA european architecture; some other ppl need further explanation.
Hasta el "...amazing things..."venia barbaro el comentario ,despues me rompiste el detector de soberbia porteña
@@marianoborello7941 es una simple metafora por la similitud de la arquitectura nada mas maestro, cada ciudad tiene su identidad.
WTH...??????? You are so nutzzzzzz...
Nicki I am an argentinian, living in Phx for 17 years .... I am so grateful you did this video to explain my culture.... you are a genius ... I was having hard time to explain the same you did in a few minutes.... Thank you girl, you did it and you understand Argentinian culture
Aw Alex, thank you so much. What a compliment. I really appreciate that! :) I love Argetina!
it makes me so happy to see someone from a different country enjoying argentina and our culture! it’s crazy how much you know about our country, i’m glad you enjoyed it ❤
Awww thank you so much. I do love your country! :)
I miss Argentina! I worked in Mendoza for a couple months and also worked in Misiones province near the tri border. Its been 20+ years. I hope to return one day. Want to see Bariloche and further south into Patagonia.
@@shishkaboob7264 Mendoza and Misiones are beautiful, you definitely need to go to the Patagonia because in my opinion those are the best views
@@shishkaboob7264 Bariloche is amazing , a dream place all the Patagonia x example Ushuaia , the city at the end of the world. We Will wait for you.
Lived there several years and loved everything about it. Friendly people, it’s a beautiful and fun city. Food is amazing.
Wow. This was like a crash course. Buenos Aires 101.
I hope it helps!! :)
@NickiPostsTravelStuff I love your advice & videos.🎉😂❤.
Thank you from🇨🇦 .
Ok...I am just a guy from New Jersey. I came to Beunos Aires in 2016 and Santiago, Chilie at the same time. It was really an overnight decision...talk about it at a bar at 8 p.m.
At 700 Am...you are on a plane. Actually on Route to see the Stones in Santiago of the opening night of the south American tour...south America is really really special..talk about fans...I probably have around 500 American concerts under my belt. You go to Santiago and actually survive...you travel to Beunos Aires to see the Rolling Stones.....I have to say one thing...the fans are second to none...Beunos Aires...was especially..probably..most likely...the craziest crowd ever..a really grass roots fan base...quite frankly you made Philadelphia look like sleepers...I will have to deal with that later
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the concerts in South America! :)
I am an Argentinean living in the US for 25 years. I'm learning about my own country through your videos and information! :)
Yes, I am interested in going to Argentina. And live there.
hello fellow argentinians! i plan on going to your country the end of this year!
I'm enjoying your videos. I have been to Buenos Aires three times, and going back for my fourth trip this August/September. I am thinking that I might want to live there! What a fantastic city.
Amazing!!! It really is a special city! Have a great trip in August/September! :)
Living in Buenos Aires or other places of Argentina can be amazing as long your income is in Dollars, Euros, Pounds, Australian Dollarsm Yens, etc, if any foreigner comes to Argentina and want to work in Argentina with an income in pesos is the worst idea ever.
Thank you for that. 🎉😂❤. Enjoy life.
Argentina is the same today as it was 54years ago when I live there this lady is right on about Argentina if nothing else enjoy the Tango on the streets 😂😂😂😂
I love Argentina. It's where I plan to retire at.
It’s such an amazing place!
I'm trying to make the move at the moment
I am Argentine, from Cordoba, I found your video so entertaining and accurate, thank you ,you are lovely.
Awww thank you so much, that’s so kind ❤️
I’m gonna head there for about 6 weeks this winter.
Great!! I hope you love it as much as I do! :)
very good and complete explanation, i am from Buenos Aires. mi buenos aires querido....
Thank you, Bostero!! :)
Tap water: You won't get sick as the water is clean but many buildings still use lead piping so you just shouldn't drink tap water over a longer period and make sure you let the water run for several seconds before drinking it.
Great tip, thank you Lial! :)
Run the water for 1 minute, especially in the am!!! Later for a few seconds or more.

I just came across your videos today and I find them to be very informative! I’ve been to Argentina once, in 2019, and can’t wait to return. After traveling all over Europe and once to Argentina, Argentina has become my favorite county to visit. Thanks so much for all of the great information. Your videos are very well done! Look forward to view more of your videos!
Thank you so much, Rob! I hope you’ll love it the second time around too! :)
As an argentinian it is fascinating for me to see what calls the attention of foreigneers when visiting our country. The fact you got surprised by dog walkers was a new one for me, but I guess it's true, I haven't seen something like that in any other country I've been.
Regarding right of way, legally pedestrians have priority over anything else. Unfortunately, in our country sometimes laws are taken as suggestions rather than ubreakable rules that must be followed cumpolsorily. Great video!
Thank Nicki, I have been wanting to visit Argentina.
Hi Nicki, you returned to Argentina, nice to see you! 🙂
Hi Axel, yes I only went to Peru for 5 weeks. I've been here the rest of the year since January! :)
@@NickiPostsTravelStuffOk, great 🙂
My mom is from Argentina and we are finally taking her back to see her family for the first time in 30 years! This will be the first time I meet my extended family also
That’s incredible, Gaby! Very exciting. I hope it will be a trip to remember!💕
My mom is also from Argentina, and I just got my Argentinian passport even if I wasn't born in Argentina. You can get your Argentinian passport as well, thanks to your mom.
I left my country two years ago, and you are talking about things that i forgot i missed. You almost made me cry, i'm so proud that foreing people talk these beautiful things about my country
I love your country! :)
That was a nice comment from you 👍 👌❤from 🇨🇦. 😊
Can you share with us, why you left such a beautiful and diverse country?
Excellent Video Thank you!
Nicky, great info of Argentina! Remember that once you are inside our country, you have the same access as a native, such as Education, Healthcare and a lot of things!
Thanks so much, Guido. That's amazing. Argentina is such a special place! :)
Good tips. Just a correction, there is no such thing as "envase retornable" for wine, it is only for beer and some soft drinks.
Thanks! :)
as someone who has traveled to 25 countries you NAILED this video with all my questions. wow, thank you
This is such a good video, and one of the best balanced videos I've seen about visiting argentina. The outlet/plug issue is a nightmare (I'm married to an Argentinian and I worked and lived there many years), but it still a pain when you move apartments. The envase thing confused me so much when I first arrived - I never saved the ticket. Great hints for the conjugation - I live in Spain now but I retain my Argentinian accent and verb forms - but these are very useful hints. Totally true also about the differences in European and Argentinian (architecture/cafe) culture; it's completely unique. I never had any security issues in Buenos Aires when I lived there, even walking around with my cellphone in my hand, and when I was there in February 2023 to visit family, but obviously being aware of possible risks. A slight update is that there is a tourist rate for foreign card payments - so you get the blue rate, although it is returned afterwards. I always drank the tap water (but it came from a storage unit on top of the building which often had the lids off, so potential dead pigeon water). Nevertheless, I was never unwell. Enjoy Argentina, it's a great country.
I'm from ARG. You are great!!! all tips are excellent!! Small detail, you can get free water in a restaurant. You have to ask for "una jarra de agua de la casa" , a jar of water from the restaurant.
When you said Spanish in Buenos Aires is different from what you learned at school is because the Spanish in BA is full loaded of slang basically words of Italian influence. And it also have a name that way of speaking which is called Lunfardo Dialect. Example Beer is Cerveza in Spanish but Birra in Lunfardo; to work is trabajar but Laborar in Lunfardo; Money es dinero but Guita in Lunfardo .and so on.
There is slang in every language, so that is actually not the reason. The reason I said it's different is because in school we learn with "tu" instead of "Vos," and we learn the "ll" as "y" and not the "sh" of Buenos Aires.
@Marav Reviews laborare es en italiano, laburo es lunfardo
@@alejandrosaus5152 Lavorare in italiano, ma il alcune regioni ( G enova trajae, Napoli travaia )
Some slang words have more than one mean= forro can mean 1) dumb or 2) preservative.
@cygnusatratus6004, Yes but I would say the translation into English for “forro” is more like “useless” rather than “dumb”. Also I believe condom is the word you’re intending rather than preservative.
This is a fantastic video!
Nicki, thanks for your video I love it was very nice and Original. I am ChileanAmerican leavening in USA.y me GUSTÓ mucho tu VIDEO.Un abrazo
Thank you so much!! 💙💙
Sometimes it is better to know nothing at all - that will make it more of an adventure - depends on your comfort zone. Personally, after visiting 105 countries and spending 15 years of my life abroad - I like the surprises.
Ok
oh right so go to a bad place and lets see what happen
@@NickiPostsTravelStuff you really said that buenos aires is not dangerous, thats stupid
The answer is there are no bad places and nothing will happen - unless you act like a dick - so I recommend you stay home in mom's basement@@wolver999
I live in London now, but I'm born and raised in Buenos Aires and I have to say that you pronounce and get all the subtleties on the LL and SH sounds, and grammar, way better than me! LOL great job with the video :)
Jajaja gracias 💕
I love watching videos like this haha, I can’t wait till I can visit next year I hope
hahahaa than you Calvin! You'll definitely make it, and be super prepared as well! :)
I am in Calafate now. I go to Bariloche next. Great information. So true. Also, the Glaciers are just amazing and everyone should see them once in their lives.
Amazing!! THere is SO MUCH to see in Argentina. I hope you'll enjoy Bariloche too, and the rest of Argentina!
@@NickiPostsTravelStuff thanks! I am in El Chalten now. The weather is dramatic and wild. Changes every second. We love the hikes and the community here. It is awesome for outdoors stuff! I wish you could hear the wind outside now. Crazy! Patagonia! :)
@@dlucas527 Sounds amazing! :)
Thank you so much for these videos. My family and I are visiting in October and planning to move to BA summer of next year. We have done so much research, but your videos really help elaborate and give great insight. This video has really helped raise our excitement and confidence in this move. Please continue to post if you have more information to provide!
Hi Taylor! You're so welcome, I'm really happy to hear that the info is useful to you, and also giving you confidence!!! :) October is a perfect time to visit, the weather is so nice. I will absolutely be posting more videos along with the several I've already made. Just curious, is there anything you have a question about that you haven't been able to find the answer to?
So, how was it?? I'm Argentinian and curious to know :)
Tap water: You won't get sick as the water is clean but many buildings still use lead piping so you just shouldn't drink tap water over a longer period and make sure you let the water run for several seconds before drinking it.

i loved your videos because i can practice my listening .. thanks you are beatifull
Great video! very educational....one very little detail Nicki mentioned a few time DNI - some people might wonder what is that. Is the National Document that shows that you are a resident/citizen of Argentina.
Thank you so much for mentioning that Roland. Unfortunately without a DNI, foreigners are excluded from a lot of things!
Very well done - learned some new ones! These tips cover a lot of ground, and not just the superficial. Thanks!
You're welcome, David. So glad to know the tips helped and you learned something new! :)

Perfect summary of what you need to know about our country :)
Great video!
Your videos are just incredibly helpful!! Full of information... I love them!!!
Regarding regional or long distance buses schedule, I would suggest using sites like Plataforma 10. Also, keep in mind that bus schedules only come online with a month in advance aproximately. So, if you need to check a bus schedule for later than that, I'd say, check the schedule for the same day of the week you're planning to travel, but within the next month. Most bus companies keep the same schedule for same days. For instance, you will be traveling on a Thursday but in three months time, do a search for any Thursday within the next month. It can happen that they change it, but I've been doing this for years now and it works most of the times.
I hope this works!!
Thank you so much, Eva!! :) And thank you for the great tip!
I loved your videos there are very informative in every aspect! well done!
