I’ve had the same machine for over a year and this is an excellent overview of how to best use it, thank you for posting.
There are a couple of points I’d like to share:
Firstly, the hose is 15m long and is ¼” bore. I found it a bit cumbersome to work with in e.g. stairwells so I bought a 7.5m long 3/16” bore hose which I’d seen people using. It wouldn’t connect to either the machine or the gun. Eventually I spoke to Wagner who confirmed that the threaded ends of their hose are unique to Wagner, so you can only use the Wagner hose. The good news is that the thread on the gun tip end is universal so you can use e.g. Graco extensions and tips, etc. which is useful if you have a high ceiling.
Secondly, I glanced through the comments and couldn’t see anyone had posted about the order of painting a room. So for any beginners, the best order is to spray the skirting, architraves etc. on day one (hitting the wall as well); On day two, mask off the skirting, etc. with 12” paper and spray the wall colour (hitting the ceiling) and damask skirting when wet; On day three, mask off the walls using delicate tape and 2.7m film to cover the skirting and doorways and spray the ceilings. Remove the wall masking when the ceiling is still wet for “the great unveil”!
Clients are thrilled with the results.
    With best wishes, Rob

This has to be the go to video guide for the Wagner sprayer. I watched this as part of the research into searching for an airless sprayer. I took the plunge and bought the model featured here and I had this playing whilst I was setting up for its first use. Excellent bit of kit, the finish is superb. I did find that it’s easy to over spray so kept the dial low down to number 1 in use.

Fantastic video, we are 3/4 way through a large house under refurbishment and have used around 250 litres of paint. We would never have managed this without the sprayer. And the speed is sensational - yesterday we did a second coat of a hallway, utility room, boot room and small wc in 25 minutes. But some additional tips to this video. Firstly consider getting the smaller 250m model as it is much lighter, easier to move from room to room and plenty powerful enough. Next, when spraying don't be afraid of adjusting the power. We started using a power level of 4 which was much too powerful if you couldn't stand well back from the wall eg in a confined corner or inside a wardrobe. Using level 3 works well in these locations. Protective clothing - I found goggles were a pain - kept steaming up and got obscured Much better is a face shield - On a big ceiling have someone with you who can swop and wipe clean a second face shield so you don't have to stop. And finally when cleaning it is much easier if you have several buckets of water available so you ensure you are rinsing through with clean water . The Leyland Latex paint covers really well but you do get through a lot of it

I bought this model based on your video, and it hasn't let me down.
You can do 1 coat, in an average size bedroom, ceilings and walls, in about 7 mins.
I'm renovating an older house we bought, so works it perfect, as we've stripped it back to the walls, and we've no doors or floors in yet, so there is little we need to protect from the paint.
If you just want to paint a room, that has carpets, wardrobes etc, it's probably not the way to go, as you'd be as long masking and covering, as you would be painting the room with a roller!
    Thanks again.

Been spraying for years in 🇬🇧 key piece of advice when spraying a mist coat, back roll it and work it into the plaster or it just sits on top 😂 then prep your walls properly and apply a spray finish.
ALWAYS backroll mist coats on new plaster and boards

    • @mrabuilders6723
      @mrabuilders6723  Год назад

Hello Jeff. I can't say that I agree with the backrolling at all. Why a liquid being put on an extremely absorbent surface would need pushing into it is a strange concept. Unless your plasterer gives a polished, glass like finish which will always give you problems when it comes to painting. Add to that the fact that the paint on bare plaster dries almost instantaneously backrolling will be almost pointless in my opinion.

@@mrabuilders6723 just from years of experience spraying and decorating professionally. Depending on temperature and conditions of the build if the mist coat is sprayed and not worked in sometimes it can sit on the top and get sanded straight off or even peel. Colder temperatures over night seem to cause it more often.
The big prep after a poorly applied mist coat normally knocks the majority of it off and has to be mist coated again. We use mirka Leros’ and deros on the walls so it has to be properly worked into the plaster. If you do any professional spray courses it’s heavily advised on new plaster and plaster board.
It doesn’t take long to do just to cover your arse when you do as many paint jobs as me. A lot of these fly by decorators buy a gracos spray and pray. Get paid and clear off. They’re not interested in the long term Ive had the same customers for nearly 20 years 🤣

So I have been looking all over for some video that explains things I had questions about and you did that and more with this vid! I was wondering about the filters, why are they there... (you covered that very good), I was wondering about how to clean everything etc, so well done, also an unedited portion of using it without any music etc (you would be surprised how rare that is), how to properly handle it etc! The part where you use a waste bucket for when priming the gun, I didn't get that at first but it´s so obvious when you talk about airbubbles etc. Thanks for that tip, it´s super obvious now looking at it again (and this is not covered in other videos). It feels genuine with real information from someone who has experience and want to teach their tips to others, so very thankful for your work here. My own project is to paint an old barn and want to make it easier for me and the only thing that I feel is left for me to figure out is what if the bucket is larger than what the hose here seem to reach... but thats a minor thing, and I can live with that if I need to scoop out from 100L to 10-15L at the time. Again, excellent video, very very well explained and pedagogic in all ways, great helper you had there too (props for good-lad-#1 we all need one of those around!).

I’m a DIYer and love my Wagner 250. I’ve added a whip hose (less stress on the wrist), nozzle extension (access to Victorian ceilings) and another tip holder (Trade Tip 2) which means I can attempt to use water based under coat and gloss using a fine finish tip. Cleaning wise, I salvage as much paint from the pump and hose into the paint tin then I do exactly the same as you, one clean water bucket, one for dirty or if I can, take the whole lot outside, clean bucket under outside tap, return pipe and gun pointing down the gully and keep going until it all runs clear. I also strip down the gun and give everything a good clean. It is well worth adding some oil to the pump (instructions in the manual) if you aren’t using the pump for a while as it gets expensive replacing the inlet and outlet valves if the get gummed up…DAMHIK! 😂 The London Craftsman has a great series on airless spraying.

I'm doing it like this: mist the whole thing, do my fill and caulk, walls and wood, knotting etc, white contract matt on the ceiling, do all the woodwork over sprayed slightly to the plaster with zinsser primer, 2 coats of armstead quick dry satin. Then mask the edge of the ceiling and all the woodwork and dobthe walls in armstead vinyl matt with a dulux colour in it (illegal mix). One thing I will say with this method is watch how much satin goes on the wall, especially round window board horns for example. The vinyl matt will hang around on the satin and can run.
