    Disclaimer:
We are creating mango tastings for the 2nd year in a row and feel like sharing the same disclaimer because we still see people arguing about taste. Like many things in life that cannot be ever measured in a lab, taste is one of them. It is purely a subjective experience involving one's cultural conditioning. Exposure to certain types of foods during our childhood days, special liking of other types of fruit or candies and finding hints of them in mangoes play very heavy on the type of mangoes one likes or dislikes.
Also, the same mango variety grown in different parts of Florida (or the world) will taste different depending on changes in microclimate, annual rainfall, soil health, soil mineral and salt content, fertigation regimen (irrigation+fertilization), etc. so blanket statements about a certain variety's taste aren't welcome. Lastly, mango picked early / not fully mature vs picked at the peak maturity changes how they ripen off of tree; often mangoes picked green, hard & immature eventually change color and look nice but will not get optimal sweetness (brix) or the complexity of flavor that makes mango such a unique and tasty fruit.
Please don’t make assumptions about a variety based on your tasting of a mediocre tasting fruit! Try fruit from different places, different microclimates at different stages of ripeness.
We don't think mangoes can be objectively rated from 1 to 10, as many variables play into it, but for the fun of it we have done it in some of our videos.

The Julie mango I had at your place was one of the best mangoes I’ve ever eaten. Thanks Satya!

I just ordered a sofie fry tree from tropical acres. You are the only taste test of sofie fry that I have seen. Good work, thank you.

So glad that Juliette wowed you're taste buds. 😋
Just read that Taralay was a Julie seeding with ZINC as a speculated pollinating parent. That could explain the Sweet Tart like flavor.

Why you hating on my Sweet Tart!...lol. Where's my Sweet Tart peeps at!!! Taste is subjective...you like what you like. You can have my share of Julie and i'll have your share of Sweet Tart. I would never turn down a home grown mango....well maybe Tommy Atkins. Thanks for sharing.

Our neighbor has a huge Tommy tree with the best tasting fruit, among our favorites. You just need to know how to ripen it properly 😎✌🏽

Thanks for your video! Can you explain again why we shouldn’t irrigate the mango trees? We just planted 8 mango trees ranging from 7-65lb and we setup irrigation.

Mango trees that are propagated in nurseries in 3g, 7g etc generally do not have a healthy root system compared to a seedling grown from seed planted directly in ground and grafted later. So the rules change a bit there…i think one should irrigate the nursery trees for a few months after planting so the roots get adjusted to the soil. But i prefer once a week deep watering compared to daily irrigation. This promotes a deeper more extensive root system as roots explore for water. Same goes for fertilization, a plant fed constantly with ferts gets used to the feeding rather than explore wider for nutrients. Another cause is micorrhizae, the healthy microbiome, their network is more extensive in a slight drought condition, this promotes plant to start relying on microbiome rather than daily fertigation regimen. Also the microbiome association develops a tree with healthy immunity compared to trees that rely completely on external input. In South FL from June to October it is always raining big at least once a week so i wouldn’t water them daily. I also have mulch initially for a year and then plant ground covers on top after that so this keeps it easy for dry months. Another very inportant aspect is fruit taste. Once your 3g and 7g trees are at least 3 yrs in ground allow them to hold fruits. Dry farmed tree fruits have more concentrated and complex taste in my experience. If you want quality than quantity go this route. Trees that have been fertilized with high potassium taste sweet but have a chemical sweetness to them, do not have a natural taste to them…Irrigated trees will hold more fruits, have less immature fruit drop but taste is washed out and good for commercial purpose.

It grew fast, was 12 ft tall and i pruned it down to 8 ft a few weeks ago. But it is a very productive tree.
