Fun fact. The way the boys were using their knife and fork is common for a lot of Commonwealth countries (NZ, Oz, Britain, South Africa) and Ireland. You will be surprised at how these countries use their knife and forks compared to how they do in the US... it's similar to how all these countries butter their bread for sandwiches (PB&J etc)
You dont butter bread for a pb&j 😂 although thats not a common sandwich to have here. but for pretty much all other sandwiches yes, you butter both slices of bread. Nothing worse than a dry sandwich🤢
It’s common for most of the world to use a knife and fork that way. America is one of the outliers. Like most things “ American”

Ive been watching the Korean Englishman videos for about 6 years now and honestly love the channel. Since you guys are checking them out and seeing Brits impressions of American things, you should also check out some of their other videos. The main purpose of the channel is to share korean culture, foods etc with the world. I really think you guys would enjoy the series where they take British Rappers to Korea. The entire series is great entertainment and you could also see some of Korea, its foods, culture, lifestyle, fashion etc. In one of the videos they also go to one of the biggest kpop agencies in Korea, and spend time with one of the world top choreographers. Sweet Potato casserole made with pecans is amazing! In the UK pecans are called Northern or Ultra Northern Pecans. They leaf out in mid-season in the UK, usually between April and May, much like the Hicans and Hickories. To grow, they require a sunny, sheltered location with ample space. Although they can grow up to 15 meters in height and width in the USA, it is unlikely they will reach that size in the UK, probably limited to 10-12 meters.

I saw another video of someone in the UK trying pecan pie and they said, they have pecans in stores, but it's not a popular nut and a lot of stores don't carry it at all. Also because karo syrup/corn syrup is highly restricted in the UK, which is a main ingredient, you don't see people making pecan pies. It's like super rare.
We make homemade syrup for pecan pies.
I prefer pumpkin pie, but I didn’t grow up with sweet potato pie. I’m making a pumpkin pie this afternoon for Thanksgiving. My mom used to make it from scratch, but that’s pretty labor-intensive.
I just discovered your channel and love your positivity! As other people have mentioned in the comments on other videos, you would probably enjoy Jolly’s other channel, Korean Englishman. I’ve learned a lot about Korean food and culture from that channel. They even brought some of the high school boys to Korea and visited schools and cultural landmarks, and tried a lot of Korean food.

I've had both pecan and pumpkin pie before but not sweet potato pie. Otherwise, I rarely eat a decent pie that doesn't feel like I have something sugary jammed up my gums. But then again... my family mixes Asian and American stuff together. Like my mom doesn't put bread or marshmallows into her stuffing. She uses Chinese cabbage, shiitake mushrooms, carrots, and celery in it. There's a lotta things I don't do because of my family's nature but I ain't no complaining here.

Pecan trees can be grown here in the uk but they dont really have them its more hazelnut, walnut and sweet chesnut trees here. U can buy pecan in shops but they arnt overly used here. We have nut and seed section in the big stores, i personally love soy roasted sunflower seeds
I never had sweet potato pie but pumpkin pie is amazing, it doesn't taste like pimpkin it is it's own thing.
They’re both very similar. Sweet Potato pie tastes more like sweet potato than Pumpkin pie tastes like Pumpkin.
To me the leftovers are the best part of the Thanksgiving meal. All of those things you mentioned are making my mouth water.

I'm a fan of yams, not so much the casserole variety. Although, I once had them with brown sugar on top and that was pretty good. But I always felt that they were sweet enough without candying them.
When I was young, I didn't like pumpkin or pecan pie. Pumpkin I didn't like the consistency, and Pecan was too sweet. Then I got older, my tastes changed, and I love them both. Pecan now. Look out. I am ready to eat that now. I never ate sweet potato pie before, but I would try it in a heartbeat. I bet I would love it too.

Great Britian has only about 5 edible nut varieties but people only eat 3. chestnuts, hazelnuts and walnuts
2:50 idk if you guys have yorkshire puddings over there, maybe it’s called something different. but over here in the UK you can get a massive yorkshire pudding wrap, filled with roast dinner food! usually meat, veg of choice, roast potatoes, stuffing and gravy. it is banging. a bit of everything 😋😋

I never liked sweet potato casserole until I tried the variant with pecans and brown sugar on top instead of marshmallows. I did however destroy every sweet potato pie my grandpa would make.

I'd really like to try the pecan pie. I love nuts, but am not too fond of very sweet desserts. Might be interesting. In Germany christmas season is kind of nut season as well. There are walnuts and other nuts everywhere and no christmas market is without candied nuts. Almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, cashews, macadamia, peanuts..... basically every nut, except for pecan nuts for some reason (at least where I live) Found that out when an American woman got angry at the vendor for not selling any. 😅 But I don't think they sell pecan nuts here. Maybe in some speciality store where you can't afford them. 🥲
Pecans are famous where we’re from and very affordable too. Ordering some may save you some time

i had sweet potato pie the first time 20 years ago when i was visiting friends in the US (TX) and... not a fan tbh. they tried home made as well as store-bought on me... nope... not for me. i didn't find it inedible, but if you put a piece of sweet potato pie and a bowl of plain cornflakes with milk in fron of me, i'm going for the corn flakes. I think sweet potato pie is one of the things you have to grow up with to really appreciate. I liked Pumkin pie a little better, but i also wasn't wowed by it. I really feel you have to have been eating those things from childhood and hold dear nostalgic memories of the holiday it surrounds and the family members who'd prepare them for you.
There are such meals in my country as well. I travel a lot internationally and have friends from very different cultures than my own, and there are some foods in my culture I love which I know just won't be to their taste. I let them try whenever they're curious and the opportunity arises, but I won't be upset if they can't really appreciate it.
Food just is not plain taste, a lot of it also involves the memories we connect with it.
Anyway, I love pecan pie. However many pieces you put in front of me, I'll eat them XD
Edit: thank you for using the only valid pronunciation of pecan. pee-can sounds utterly disgusting. Btw. pecans are native to the American continent, so no, we do not have them in Europe. The closest thing we have are walnuts, but they clearly taste very different. Another common nut in Europe is Hazel nut. We also get Almonds, Macadamia and Cashews, but those are obviously imported.

I have never understood the sweet potatoes. I'm 33 and I still hate them. I just don't get it. Maybe my state's doing them wrong. I know they're a stable in The South but we hate them up here.
Maybe try it simple like wrap one in some aluminum foil and set it close to the fireplace or on top of the wood stove and just let it slow cook. Then push a toothpick or such into it and then open it up and butter it and salt it, maybe a little pepper. Then try it with a fork like a baked potato. Just something simple instead of the casserole or pie etc. Hand sliced and fried like French fries are a fairly decent "something different to try" type of thing.
I hate pecan pie to sweet though I do like pecans one of my favorite nuts.
