you may not be allergic to Pecans. the pecan is the seed of a "drupe" (which includes plums, peaches, apricots, and almonds.
i am not recommending that you try them, but you may want to consider testing with your doctor.

A Thanksgiving 🍁🍂🦃 SANDWICH is what you make out of ALL the LEFTOVERS and you eat it the Next Day
JUSTT PILE EVERY THING ON AND EAT
EXCEPT: you DO NOT add pumpkin pie or any pie or any sweets👎🏻
      Basically the SANDWICH CONSISTS of

      gravy, stuffing, cranberry sliced gel...👍🏻🇺🇸🦅

Exactly right! Doug Blake, Editor of Mayflower Quarterly Magazine stated that in his article in Vol. 89, No. 3, Fall 2023. Where the Thanksgiving came in was because the Pilgrims gave Thanks to God in their harvest celebration, which was popular all over England.

One thing I like about Thanksgiving is that it’s not celebrated on the same date each year - it’s celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November. Therefore it’s always perfectly predictable that you have that Thursday and Friday off, it’s basically a 4-day weekend for most people (unless you work retail or restaurant of course, which is where all the other people are going to spend money).

Thanksgiving conmemorates the first British that arrived in the US in Massachusetts in 1620. They mostly left England because they wanted freedom to practice their religion "Puritans". At first the Native Americas didn't want them and fought them but eventually accepted them and taught them what to plant to grow food. They had a successful harvest and a celebration of thanks for the crops. The natives joined their celebration and contributed animals (venison) they hunted. Turkeys were wild animals and abundant. It is said that the feast lasted 3 days. This is a very American celebration and the food is what was available in that region in 1621. Cranberries grow wild, sweet potatoes, corn and pumpkins too.

  • @aliselynch

That sandwich they gave them I think is classically the leftover turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and the moistmaker is bread dipped in the leftover gravy in the center of the sandwich lol. I wish they'd done more classic feast foods for this video but understand the logistics and why they went the sandwich route.
Weirdly, sweet sweet potatoes are a side dish with the smorgasbord main meal lol. Sweet potato pie can be classified as either, but pumpkin pie is purely dessert.

The turkey sandwich in the video was NOT a typical american leftover turkey sandwich. I like to separate the turkey meat like a pulled pork so its easier to bite into and then slather a heaping layer of mayonnaise on both slices of bread. Left over turkey dressing/stuffing is amazing. Left over mashed potatoes can be turned into pan fried potato cakes.

The dish with marshmallows is sweet potatoes pureed with cinnamon, butter, nutmeg, brown sugar and citrus juice (orange, pineapple or lemon), and a dash of condensed milk till pudding consistency and baked in a casserole dish. Its typically topped with spices and nuts, crumble topping or for those like me who can't have nuts we put marshmallows that toast to create a sweet and chewy top.
Relatives will often argue over who makes the best

They had a celebration with the Indians that help them read the first celebration included venison(deer meat), fish, eel, squash, pumpkin, & cranberries. Over the next 400 years turkey came to main meat for Thanksgiving celebrations! It’s estimated that this shirt over 47 million turkeys will be eaten along with 50 million pumpkin pies! We gather with friends and family on that day!Anyone that eats a lot of turkey knows that you get drowsy afterwards… Because of the tryptophan in turkey meat! It’s a great day of overeating… Green bean casserole dressing and gravy mashed potatoes, rolls relishes! Watching Thanksgiving parades and football games!

Oh, and my dad always made turkey soup out of the leftovers, to the point my mom would fuss that he never wanted to leave enough for sandwiches later. Lol

The thing is, there is no one kind of Thanksgiving dinner in the U.S. Sure, most people have turkey, but not everyone will, and the sides that accompany the turkey often reflects the region of the country you live in or your culture. For instance, if you're Italian, you might add pasta to your meal, etc. I grew up on the east coast of the U.S. in the mid-Atlantic area -- New Jersey, Pennsylvania, etc. I'm sure that there were people who had sweet potato casserole with the marshmallow topping, but I can't remember more than one or two times when we had it. We usually had mashed potatoes, not sweet potatoes. I remember a favorite side dish we had -- which might be "equivalent" to the sweet potato casserole -- was pineapple casserole. It was also sweet, but not a dessert. It was a kind of bread pudding with chunks of pineapple in it.
I have to say, that one kid who didn't like almost anything, made me wonder if he preferred the blandest most simple foods. A friend of mine has a boy who also disliked almost everything. Only as a young man is he finally being more open to foods. Thank heavens! I thought he would eventually starve to death!

I don't do sweet potato with marshmellow, my version is with brown sugar and cinnamon. While I enjoy the sides and there are many, the turkey and stuffing are the winners for me. But a good homemade pumpkin pie is a win as well, just don't buy the Walmart premades...lol. And Recky, for me the pumpkin is better, the pecan pie does a number on your teeth. Those kind of colorful shirts are common in America, maybe someone will send you one...lol. You guys are always amazing to spend time with, I am thankful for you sharing your lives with us. Blessings.

    Them: "Thanksgiving sandwich"
Americans: W-w-w-what the what???? We never have anything like sandwiches for thanksgiving. Easy made, quick foods are for almost all other days of the year. Never even heard of anyone making sandwiches out of leftovers. We just eat them exactly how they were made and exactly how we ate them on Thanksgiving day, except we're heating basically everything in the microwave this time and putting it back in the fridge afterwards.
Sweet potato casserole it.....could be considered a desert. But it's not considered THE main desert. In my opinion, the marshmellow on top and brown sugar sauce version is WAY TOO SWEET and I've never said that about ANYTHING!!! So, that coming from an American means you could only imagine the over-the-top sweetness that you litterally won't be able to handle if you try this.

Our thanksgiving is the 3rd Thursday in November so it's always a different day every year this year it's on November 23rd. We are thankful for you guys & the kitties & ur channel for always making our day brighter & getting our minds off of our problems. Thank you so much & we adore you. We have many traditional iconic recipes that Jolly didn't show the highschool boys. I don't usually like pecan pie because I think it's too sweet also but the pecans do give it a nice flavor & I like pecans. We have coated pecans with sugar & cinnamon that's really good. Bucc-ees makes them & a famous local business here in North Carolina called Southern Supreme that sells the Best fruit cake & they have cinnamon coated pecans & other items that are ridiculously good.
We must have stuffing(they can stuff it inside the turkey)or dressing( they add turkey broth & sometimes chopped boiled eggs & mushrooms & etc.... then it's pressed into a casserole dish & baked & cut into squares like brownies. Nothing like a little turkey with dressing & cranberry sauce on ur fork as the perfect bite is the best. Mashed potatoes made with cream cheese & butter with wonderful turkey gravy is so good & deviled eggs with a little slice of green olives on each one.

Love leftover turkey...cold, hot, part of another dish. You name it. Sandwiches are major yum! Don't recall if anyone ever sent you canned pumpkin, and the traditional spice mix, to make your own pie. We always had homemade pumpkin and apple pies for T'giving. A few, in our large, immediate family, who just weren't keen on pumpkin.

That is not a Thanksgiving dinner. Where is the turkey, ham , stuffing. mashed potatoes and gravy, buns, salads, etc. We do apple pie, pumpkin pie, pumpkin pie cheesecake and other sweets. We also do a meat tray with cheese and also different chips and dips. i.e. salmon, salsas, etc. Don't take that video as an representative what everyone in the US has for Thanksgiving. I love my leftover turkey sandwiches without the cranberries. Thanks for the videos, and I look forward to more.

The Thanksgiving sandwich is what you make from the leftovers of the Thanksgiving dinner. It is usually eaten the next day and, for some, the next several days.
Thanksgiving is always on the fourth Thursday in November so the exact date changes every year.

Cranberries have a similar flavor lingon berries
The moist maker is a slice of bread that has been soaked in turkey gravy & placed in the center of the sandwich to keep it from being dry
I like a pecan strusel topping on my sweet potato casserole. I’m not a fan of marshmallows & the region I’m from doesn’t like marshmallows on sweet potato casserole or candied yams
