I couldn't remember where I heard about Kardashev, then this video popped up. Just wanted to say I've listened to The Almanac about 1,000 times the past few weeks. Thanks for making great music and sharing your knowledge and insights!
Dude, HLB is amazing, period. I mean Abyssal was a bit slower in general, with those spurts of upbeat slamming your face in a wall spots. And on that album and the ones before it, they had this certain distortion, that I can only think of as being unique to them. And this song kinda lacks that, but not in a bad way at all. The key HLB sound is still there, and I think we all know what that is. But this one is a little more open, not as distorted, with some new effects added in, that of course, is unique to HLB. And I like that even his vocals are less distorted. You can hear the fullness of his vocals clearly. I agree that this is 10/10 no doubt. I love to give HLB a 15/10 just as a whole. Their entire discog.
Buster is on the everything lol. Including the production, recording/mixing/mastering side of things. The guy is super talented and has a gnarly work ethic to say the very least.
A video on Rheese Peters would be cool. His vocals in his Star Wars themed side project called "The Senate" are ridiculous. Their song "The Bloated One" would be amazing to have a video on
Dont know how I just discovered you, but Im loving this channel! Ive discovered so many more bands and your input is super valuable. I do clean vocals solely, but this is making me want to explore distortion in my vocals too. Rock on dude 🤘
Aye, I just got in their facemask beginning this week and I chose it on price and design. Quite surprised on the band itself. Definitely gonna have these in my DC playlist a lot
I'd love to see you break down Austin's vocals on For the Likes of you - Forlorn! It's such an incredible song, and Austin's vocals are so sick! Would be so cool to see your reaction and breakdown
React to ENDON's "Your Ghost Is Dead" A Japanese experimental noisegrind band produced by Kurt Ballou of Converge. I don't really know what to say to convince you to react to them but THE VOCALIST...just...please. You WILL NOT be disappointed.
Didn't know you were in other bands outside Kardashev. Definitely going to check it out, but absolutely love the new Kardashev. So heart wrenchingly beautiful.
Yep! So glad you enjoy the almanac :) Neverbreath just released our first album here: ruclips.net/video/6EhbjEMSDgk/видео.html and you can listen to Glioblastoma by Viraemia here ruclips.net/video/vgrscPRooM8/видео.html. Any other Viraemia material is their previous vocalist Tony
Like bro this song just feels more than just blackened djent. This song feels like a new sub genre, black djent. Like this shit is so ambient and dark and progressive. I've not heard anyone do djent. Like this before. Its so cool and such an amazing direction for their music
Man I really enjoy all the reactions you do please do as many as you can without compromising your personal or family but you're one of my go-to's...no pressure
I like watching your video's...mostly because i'm a vocalist, mostly do gutturals and inhale squeals...But I taught myself over the last 20 years...I never had anyone around to share my progress as I grew my skills...But what I've learnt over the years, I sit here and agree with most of what you say!! But it's like my moment to share!! My gutturals have seriously increased because of your descriptions!!
So I've been listening to the Almanac a lot lately. There's a part in between the sea and sky where I keep think I switched over to diamond eyes by Deftones, it's such a similar but great sound
HLB is sick thall shit. If you want moor th4ll try out fractalize. Theres one vocalist that i do not comprehend, he is the guy from Revulsion. Check them out. Pretty unique angry boy noise.
I was also wondering if you've ever listened or planned to react to like Aversions Crown. I'd love to see you react to Erebus by them and see you explain the many vocal varients of Mark Poida in that song.
Very interesting video Mark! I just wanted to add one thing. At 6:02 it's actually Buster Odenholm who's screaming and not Robin whos doing the low vocals. You can hear Busters screams in the new Vildhjarta song too!
I am always so fascinated by the breakdown(no pun..maybe) of vocal styles in these videos and descriptions of what is being done, it has helped in my own styles and it is appreciated. I, personally, would love to see some Sammy SlamDance reactions. Either in his Inferi songs like Behold The Bearer Of Light or his metal covers of rap songs(namely Homicide) which highlights his highs. That is a vocal style I am interested in seeing broken down... *sigh* okay, it is a pun.
You should see about taking a look at a song from 'From Funerals to Come' by Katatonia or 'Rain Without End' by October Tide. Each album shares the same vocalist, Jonas Renske, who had a tremendously excellent growl, but was apparently doing so incorrectly, and as such as to opt to only using clean vocals. You should take a look at how obvious it might sound that he was hurting himself, as well as the fact he really was an excellent-sounding growler, but with a destructive technique.
Calle Thomer from Vildhjarta is also in HLB, so there's a lot of crossover. I also believe it's actually Buster doing the bright, mixed-register yelling and not Filip
Hey, Mark, I am loving the videos, they have really been helpful, and I was wondering if you could check out enterprise earth and Dan Watson? I want to learn to do scream high like him. Thanks.
buster started hlb with just him writing everything including vocals. then just had everyone else as fill in members. calle (guitar, vildjharta) now also writes guitars for hlb, but even the last album was all written by him lol
I couldn't agree more. I'm usually so disinterested in metal music videos. I just want to see the band jamming and couldn't care less about some dude running through the forest for the millionth time. But this video was so fucking good.
HLB is fucking ridiculous... nice to see someone else that involuntarily laughs their ass off when some insanely good riffage occurs. Thought I was the only one. Buster's guitar playing on this is fucking sick. I'm gonna be the rare 46 year old rocking an HLB shirt when it comes in the mail soon. BTW, I've found that I've been doing my growls all wrong for many years (32 years to be specific), since I came across your channel. They were... okay... but my technique was bad (self taught, and a lot of bad habits as a result (there was no youtube in my early years)). I'm mostly only a guitar player, but now doing a solo project, so I gotta get my vocal game in order. That thall moment in the riff you brought it back to, the bweooo boo one, is just... well... thall as fuck. Been ripping off HLB and Vildhjarta unintentionally lately. Tons of down bends in my riffs (don't even know if I'm describing that correctly, but if you know thall, you know what I mean, basically a bend that starts bent before I hit the note).
as always insightful and learn a bit each time. would love to see your reactions to these bands/songs in particular: Aborted: Excremental Veracity (around the 0:30 second on wards part of this song gives me goosebumps all the time) Beyond Creation: Omnipresent Perception (but really any song (except instrumentals) are great, but incredible band) Once Human: Passenger, Paragon, Dark Matter or Gravity (music video) are good songs by them.
Hey man do the bands ur in have tapes I can buy..love old skool stuff. Also love that u sing in different genres..keep up the good work..love from the UK
Hey man, i was just wondering how could i begin to teach a 5 year old how to scream. Hes really eager im teaching him how not to hurt himself but he doesnt understand what im talking about when i say diaphragm etc and how to utilize when i point out the spot
Truthfully, I'm not sure. Children generally have less coordination than adults and screaming well involves balancing multiple things at once. I would A) hold off, honestly and B) Talk with a ENT or speech therapist if you really want to pursue it
Cycles of Haruspex by Aversions crown hasn't got a video but is the most ridiculous vocal I've ever heard. In other words you won't be distracted and have plenty to analyze
Kardavox Academy : Always Nice to hear when someone knowed what he is talking about😁 Listen to Terra Tenebrosa where shadow has teeth... think u can love it
hey Mark! i love your stuff :D you should check out the band I, Exalt and their song Dialect! if youre interested maybe make a video! I've used this song a few times to practice and mimic vocals :)
Can you react to "Igorrr - Tout Petit Moineau @ Dour Festival 2014" ? I think it would be really interesting to hear someone's opinion on this who knows what he is talking about. :) cheers
thall
Thall back at ya!
YESSSSSSS
Still waiting for vildhjarta album
THALL.
@@KardavoxAcademy dude react to HBL Abyssal Mouth its dope song..
big thanks to the guy in the video for trying to give us a close-up on his throat technique.
You're welcome, dude!
Underrated comment
"That bloody neck sputter seemed kinda neat."
That's one way of putting it...
Another great reaction and analysis. Love the channel brother 🤘😈
Yo, whatup fellow RUclipsr! Thanks for the kind words!
2 best reaction channels 👍
Definitely my two favorite you tubers 🤘
Again Galacticriminal, thanks for introducing me to this band! Damn do I love their work! Just DAMN!
Make sure to like and subscribe for an all expenses paid trip to a cultist infested forest!
I couldn't remember where I heard about Kardashev, then this video popped up. Just wanted to say I've listened to The Almanac about 1,000 times the past few weeks. Thanks for making great music and sharing your knowledge and insights!
Yo thanks so much for listening! Glad you like the tunes :D
That outro proves that Buster is one of the best metal song writers and producers out there.
Got your bands new cd and I love it. Thanks for letting me support you guys
Thanks for the support, I'm glad you dig the tunes!
Ive seen some brutal death metal videos but that throat cutting bit takes the cake for sure.
Dude, HLB is amazing, period. I mean Abyssal was a bit slower in general, with those spurts of upbeat slamming your face in a wall spots. Vånda and the detestor fuckin ripssss. Love hlb
Been a while. Glad to see you back
Thank You! Glad to be back!
i love how actually diferent this is to other stuff ive heard, its super heavy but SLOW most of the time gives it a very diferent feel, wicked
Same, it reminds me of Black Tongue’s downtempo style
Buster's the one on the yells.
Interesting, I had no idea!
Thought so definitely sounded like vildhjarta.
Kardavox Academy was gunna say the same thing lok
Funny I just said the same thing. Then realized someone else probably already said that hahaha.
Buster is on the everything lol. Including the production, recording/mixing/mastering side of things. The guy is super talented and has a gnarly work ethic to say the very least.
Check out Chainbreaker by Shrine of Malice bro.
A video on Rheese Peters would be cool.
His vocals in his Star Wars themed side project called "The Senate" are ridiculous. Their song "The Bloated One" would be amazing to have a video on
Agreed mate. Rheese is a freak
Saw this band live last summer, the crowd was excited for sure :)
I remember a local gig / competition I played the singers old band (dont know if they are still active)
In reverence. Was blown away by his vocals.
Worth a shot, but would love to see a bit about Make Them Suffer.
Also, Great to see you back
I'd be down
Hollowed heart plz
please! would need to pick a certain time period though because their style is always changing :D
Dude, just by the look on your face I could tell the vocals were the LAST thing on your mind lmao
So good, man. And always top tier critiquing.
Dont know how I just discovered you, but Im loving this channel! Ive discovered so many more bands and your input is super valuable. I do clean vocals solely, but this is making me want to explore distortion in my vocals too. Rock on dude 🤘
Exploring distortion was my reason to learn clean singing. It's a beautiful world in there
What has Metal done to me? I'm just sitting here eating a sammich thinking the video is neat and the bleeding and all that is done very well.
It is tho lol, besides, the news are far worse..
I literally can't stop listening to this song, it's just a breakdown from the beginning to the end
Aye, I just got in their facemask beginning this week and I chose it on price and design. Quite surprised on the band itself. Definitely gonna have these in my DC playlist a lot
Yeah man HLB is amazing
I'd love to see you break down Austin's vocals on For the Likes of you - Forlorn! It's such an incredible song, and Austin's vocals are so sick! Would be so cool to see your reaction and breakdown

Lol I just came across and fell in love with kardishev less that 2 weeks ago. I’ve seen your videos for about a year now. Awesome cowinky Dink
I love your reaction videos! They help me find new songs and learn what bands do to scream and sing! Keep it up

Much Love!
Man I really enjoy all the reactions you do please do as many as you can without compromising your personal or family but you're one of my go-to's...no pressure
Family life *
I was wondering when another episode was coming out. Woo made my day
Bro vibing hard as fuck to the grooves the entire song I love seeing it 😭❤️

Pest Control - To The Grave next pls.
Greetings from Norway
Great band my guy, I can ur a man of culture as well.
i hit the like button as soon as i heard "thall"
Back with a phenomenal banger of a song ! Amazing video bro 🔥
Thanks bro!
God I love your channel. Keep it up lol. You've been teaching me new things with every video
Glad you dig the videos!!
HLB is just evil incarnated through music
Definitely
If evil had a sound, it's definitely this.
they self identify as evil, as a genre
Also see : extermination dismemberment, disentomb, defeated sanity, to name a few.
also, disconformity and heinous killings. J slam lives on
Is one of the best voices of deathcore in the world
Been waiting for another upload! Great stuff. Maybe some John Tardy in the future?? 🤞
Sorry for the delay! Never heard of John Tardy, I'll check it out!
@@KardavoxAcademy He's the vocalist from Obituary
You should check out the new Defamed single “In Tenebris”
The breakdown in that song ended earth and I love it 🥵
HLB is sick thall shit. If you want moor th4ll try out fractalize. Theres one vocalist that i do not comprehend, he is the guy from Revulsion. Check them out. Pretty unique angry boy noise.

My favourite band. SO FUCKING GOOD

hahaha no shame in a good pun, and I'm glad I've been able to help! Never heard of Sammy SlamDance, I'll check it out!
Vittring - Humanity's Last Breath....Different. Brutal. Masterpiece.
also bro, love your channel. just found it from the holy roller reac, love your approach on explaining vocal techniques
also also, the high yells are buster as well lmao
I used this video as an inspiration for a DnD character (and now I'm working on a campaign with it too)
Thall, also look into The Dali Thundering Concept - Words are Winds. Has 5 different vocalist appearances.
You should see about taking a look at a song from 'From Funerals to Come' by Katatonia or 'Rain Without End' by October Tide. I love the hand motion
Angelmaker's vocalist is pretty good, you should do a reaction on them.
Calle Thomer from Vildhjarta is also in HLB, so there's a lot of crossover. I also believe it's actually Buster doing the bright, mixed-register yelling and not Filip
Something new for me, glad to know them from you 😀
Woo! Glad you found something new!
This is about the vocals, I know, but I REALLY like the drumsounds here, very nicely done..
Also, well made video, very cozy ;)
Hey, Mark, I am loving the videos, they have really been helpful, and I was wondering if you could check out enterprise earth and Dan Watson? I want to learn to do scream high like him. Thanks.
Would absolutely love to see you review anything from Disfiguring the Goddess simply because Cam makes so many sounds that it’s wiald.
buster started hlb with just him writing everything including vocals. then just had everyone else as fill in members. calle (guitar, vildjharta) now also writes guitars for hlb, but even the last album was all written by him lol
and the only song he's written on drums for vildjharta so far was den helige anden
this song is so fucking sick! Cool analysis.
It is, thanks bro!
I like their older stuff better, but they are still amazing.
Man, I love your vids and your music!
I couldn't agree more. I'm usually so disinterested in metal music videos. I just want to see the band jamming and couldn't care less about some dude running through the forest for the millionth time. But this video was so fucking good.
BOUND IN FEAR - THE ROT WITHIN PLEASEEEEEEE. THERE ARE SO MANY GREAT AND NEW VOCAL SOUNDS TO TALK ABOUT THAT I WOULD LOVE TO LEARN
That yell is not the vocalist. It's from Buster who wrote and recorded the song (guitar, bass, probably drums as well)
You should react to Cabal - Tongues
Really great band and theyre touring with Humanity's last breath next year
Recently found this channel. Love it man, keep it up.
Also, you should definitely listen to CASTIEL - Phantom
The beginning was funny Marc !!
It hurts so much right?! 🤣🤣
Review before I go by saving vice! They have some awesome lyrics/screams. It would be great to hear your point of view on them!

Yessss, THALL indeed
I love your videos so much
Missed you
I missed this channel in the last month 😭😭
Will we get a Vulvodynia reaction in the future?
I did a live reaction to Vulvodynia on twitch, I'd be down to do one for the channel here
Kardavox Academy if you are thinking of analysing Vulvodynia may i suggest their song “Nyaope”. Its big ooft.
as always insightful and learn a bit each time.
would love to see your reactions to these bands/songs in particular:
Aborted: Excremental Veracity (around the 0:30 second on wards part of this song gives me goosebumps all the time)
Beyond Creation: Omnipresent Perception (but really any song (except instrumentals) are great, but incredible band)
Once Human: Passenger, Paragon, Dark Matter or Gravity (music video) are good songs by them.
Hey man do the bands ur in have tapes I can buy..love old skool stuff. Also love that u sing in different genres..keep up the good work..love from the UK
Yo! So no cassettes yet, though we've thought about doing them for Neverbreath.
When you do let me know will order one straight away
You should really check out Diamonds To Dust's song Corpus Christi, His vocals are amazing.
Face Me by Strangled! Has a good variety of interesting vocals, Sleep by Strangled is also a good option
Yo Mark! Love your videos as always! You should totally check out Ovid’s Withering!
Anyone know any bands that utilize the yelling scream at 8:09 when he goes more in depth on it? It sounds absolutely sick.
I know a lot of bands do it but i cant think of any examples😂 specifically deathcore bands do it for sure
Hey man, i was just wondering how could i begin to teach a 5 year old how to scream. Hes really eager im teaching him how not to hurt himself but he doesnt understand what im talking about when i say diaphragm etc and how to utilize when i point out the spot

This is probably (maybe?) requested a lot but could you react to the great, Adam Warren? I think his lows are God-tier
100% awsomeness 🤘🤘👊🏼🤘🤘
Thanks so much!
Kardavox Academy : Always Nice to hear when someone knowed what he is talking about😁
Listen to Terra Tenebrosa where shadow has teeth... think u can love it
a reaction to Grimoire from Lorna shore would be sick or decay by feign
Traitors - Cold!
Also please do something on Austin Dickey he's a beast, band - For the Likes of You
Really like the channel 😀 would love to see you react to Naglfar the perpetual horrors some time 👍 keep up the great work
hey Mark! i love your stuff :D you should check out the band I, Exalt and their song Dialect! if youre interested maybe make a video! I've used this song a few times to practice and mimic vocals :)
Pretty sure I am cursed after listening to this song. Love this band!
You’ve got to react to Tatiana from Jinjer! So curious what you’d have to say about her. She’s incredible.
Your wish is our command ;)

Dude you need to check out Deviloof
This song's THALL so hard even comes to demonetization
Can you react to "Igorrr - Tout Petit Moineau @ Dour Festival 2014" ?
I think it would be really interesting to hear someone's opinion on this who knows what he is talking about. :)
cheers
Have listen to ur bands.. ur a talented bearded man ❤️🤘😁
You should react to Acrania, Auctioneer of Depravity for example. Would love to know what the hell is going on in Luke Griffins vocals.
