- Опубликовано: 16 май 2023
- As much as I like Humanity's Last Breath, you'd think I would have covered them more! Labyrinthian is forkin AWESOME, and has some KILLER vocals for both beginner and advanced vocalists to growl along to. Its got a bit more start-and-stop than I'd normally like, but its still a gem of a tune!

Buster (the guitarist of Humanity’s) is the drummer of Vildhjarta and the producer for both bands. Calle (the other guitarist of Humanity’s) is one of the guitarists for Vildhjarta. Both Humanity’s and Vildhjarta invented Thall altogether
Buster and Calle are awesome, but let’s not forget how sick Filip and Marcus are. This collective is too damn good!
@@Beardus_Maximus Don’t forget about Daniel Bergstrom either. Calle has taken over most of the writing duties for Vildhjarta but Daniel wrote a vast majority of Masstaden.
I would say that it was Vildhjarta that created thall as a genre and HLB that merged it with deathcore to create the elastic stuff that they make now. Buster even said that the first HLB album was just his take on Vildhjarta.
Calle isn’t the other guitarist. He assists in writing. Not sure who the other guitarist is.
@@quandaledingle4659 the other guitarist is tuomas from ATLAS ;)
His vocals dont reinvent the wheel, but I just never get sick of mastered lows like that.
Even though hes not the most acrobatic vocalist the way he compliments the crushing guitars is perfection
We need more Thall influences in metal, the wacky timing and crazy guitar noises feels like an easy way to get a chunky breakdown to hit even harder.
Indeed, c h u n k
AAL's Red Miso has thall
@@sahinlandman4667 yup and I love it
That low harmonic still hits like a sledgehammer.
It comes in and breaks your spine and it's so good.
You did Earthless from HLB before!
Also, these guys are so good!!
Song is absolutely bananas. I am addicted.
Also, the high screams (like at 7:03) are Buster. Sounds suuuuuper crisp.
Damn I didn’t realise he recorded stuff for this track, does he do any other stuff on it?
@@leechick guitar, production and mixing
mhm! all the higher screams are buster afaik
@@leechick buster IS HLB, haha. he started the band, does most writing, produces, mixes, masters
Love how people are finally recognizing this band. Found em when I was 15 or 16. im now turning 30 this year 🤣
I started late with Välde, but damn whenever I need the heavy, I spin that record
Good old Structures Collapse. Man that album was good.
Unfortunately you lose all clout by typing that comment.
@@MegaLaban12345 idk what you mean by that but thanks.
@@MegaLaban12345?
YAAASSS!! 🤘🤪🤘
Aaaaye back at ya my dude, thanks for checking out the vid!
Marks face at 6:40 to 7:22 killed me! May I rest in peace. ☠
I feel like you pointing out the incredible mix of this track and also talking about how when other bands do Thall it doesn't sound right is no coincidence. Buster's production is some of the best I've ever heard and I think with Thall being as elastic of a genre as it is, his insane mixing skills are what glues everything together.
The guitarist Buster does the mixing. He's a full time audio engineer. He plays drums in Vildhjarta and Thrown also. Bro is doin some good sh1t.
Would be super sick if you reacted to/analyzed “A Photic Doom” by Cattle Decap. You get to clearly see Travis’ technique with his tongue. I think viewers would love to see your analysis, as well as your passion from reviewing a band you love so much!
Just recorded a reaction to it today, expect it sunday :D
@@KardavoxAcademy Hell yeah! Terrasite, the entire album, has been on repeat since it dropped
@@Lavaman_E89 Same here.
I'm seeing them next saturday! 😊
Buster is straight up the Beethoven of metal
Love Humanities Last Breath, there is nothing like them at all. Abyssal Mouth still astonishes me even now, and that absolutely floored me when I first heard it. This is an amazing track and I cant wait to hear the rest of the album. I love how into the song you got, it's so slick and mesmerising, it has the gravitation pull of a black hole, you aren't going to escape just how beautiful and brutal this whole sound is. Awesome stuff.
It’s the heaviest song ever recorded, and I’ll die on that hill
@@FurorAeternumXBL it's fully deserving of that title lol
If you also wanna hear another thall-influenced band with awesome vocals, you should definitely check out Our Common Collapse - Brought Beneath. That one is good!
Backed. Killer band from my area, glad to see them getting some love.
HLB continues to remind me why they're my favorite deathcore band (even though they often transcend that label). This song is pummeling, absolutely love the riffs on it, and the vocals are super menacing. Really glad that you reacted to this!
The atmosphere is epic levels this band is so good.
yeah this whole track just sounds amazeballz
While the Vildhjarta vocalist is different, this vocalist was also on another project called In Reverence that has a more black metal feel. They don't have too much content but theyre sick
So glad youre covering this - such an incredible track. These guys don't miss...
MESMERIZING! The only fitting word. Their songs are haunting you. Otherworldy good!
Aahw yeah, this song is amazing.
We love this band🖤
Just checked out your bands new album, holy shit dude! Youre all so talented and im gonna visit all your stuff asap
We’ve watched Earthless by HLB before :)
6:42 Mark just 😮
HLB is incredible, definitely one of my favorite bands. This has probably been mentioned already but Buster Odeholm (Drums, Guitar, and backup vocals) is one of the two members shared with Vildhjarta, and also the producer for both bands as well as many others, he has been a repeat guest producer for URM’s Nail the mix. With that said, I would absolutely love to see Kardavox Academy become something like URM and Riffhard. I would definitely subscribe to an online vocal academic community like those. Especially if you were to bring on guest vocalists for courses where you and that vocalist go over their techniques together. I love this channel and have been a fan for years, very grateful for everything I’ve learned from you!
BTW I just saw your facial expression at around 13:58 seems like you notice the kargyraa (throat singing) section, that performance was done by this guy I believe m.ruclips.net/video/uIgR_pW3wAU/видео.html
I would LOVE a Kardavox breakdown on this technique, many of the “tutorials” (including the one that guy himself made) are very limited. Having an in depth breakdown that I know you would be a perfect teacher for would be super helpful!
When the mix is thiccc ❤
10/10!!
Knew this would end up here!
I think maybe the japanese stringed instrument you're thinking about could be the koto, coming after the zheng from china!
Soty!!!!
Well, now you gotta check out Instill :)
ngl, i was kinda analyzing the vocals along with you lol. makes it more fun.
Mark, when you said if you hear any band/song besides HLB & VLDT try thall they sounds try-hard, I completely agree. But, there is one song that gets 9.99 tenths of the way to Thall and back, It's called Snapdragon by Path Of Giants and ColdBlood Supplicant. Highly Recommend if you want to feel like you're listening to a new Vildhjarta song for the first time.
"everybody has opinion on mixes, and i have learned i have no idea" LMAO yep.
Y’all this song is GOOD 😁
With the course do you cover how to get tones. I can get the false chord feeling and projection just getting better tones out of it is my issue. Serious interests for the paid course so let me know.
i would love to see you review ten thousand crows - Cathedral
When will you have Travis Ryan from Cattle Decapitation and do a analysis together of one of their songs? :D
those higher screams are actually buster, the guitarist, and from what he says he doesn’t do them exactly healthy
Idk man I feel Grayscale Season does a thall sound nice when they go for it.
Check out Glitter and Side Effects by them
I'm sorry Nordlys but this is the breakdown of 2023
😊
Hey Mark, you should check out the band Face Yourself.

You reacted 3 years ago to Earthless by HLB
I've been SUPER satisfied with and grateful for 99.12345% of your reactions that I've seen....thus just made it 100...that's like a gazillion percent increase...point is, fired up a preroll, watched this, and realized how knowledgeable you are and have the chops and beast within you to demonstrate a lot of those techniques...awesome job as always, I'm gonna go eat some Doritos now
The high screams aren't him, they're the mixer/guitarist Buster Odeholm
Is really great . But you hot to see VITTRING of Humanity's Last Breath AND comment , please
Reaction black tongue please
Dude, about 6:50 seconds into your reaction video, right after he starts singing following that 1st breakdown...is that not the Wu-Tang symbol that the light shines on his chest??
Idk if there are like patreon requests or if you take suggestions into consideration but you should definitely check out Harper’s new single featuring Brand of Sacrifice and Dave Stephens of We Came As Romans. She’s an 11 year old metal vocalist who was featured on America’s Got Talent performing a Spiritbox song.
Definitely be interesting to hear your perspective on vocal technique with such young talent
Some day I wanna chat about trans women and vocals because that's not a topic I've seen anyone cover!
this rocks and as another trans woman i'd love to see some discussion on that
there's so much more things to consider with voice training and vocal practice?
sharing a personal anecdote- learning vocals was a very very big help to understand my voice and how to use it to sound more femme , or just how to navigate using it in general.
props lucy for offering a springboard on this
I don't get the problem, how is learning vocals gender specific? Both women and men can do nasty vocals
Or do you mean you want to learn how to speak differently because I think that's not possible without killing your vocal cords. Or with an operation
Completely different genre, but Rabbit from Steam Powered Giraffe did a very interesting vlog series in-transition where she was very candid about her voice and how it relates to singing as herself and the character in the band.
Y'know, what absolutely enthralls me about HLB, Vildhjarta, Tesseract, and some others, is the fact that if I'm not holding a guitar myself I can't stop myself dancing in place to them, but.. weirdly, like fluid as you fucking like, but punctuated by decidedly twitchy movements. I've never been able to describe it other than to say it feels like their music actively pulls my heart strings and my soul this way and that, and I couldn't stop it if I wanted to. 'Visceral' is about the only word I know that will come close. Possibly with a side of 'cathartic'.
Edit: Oh FFS, should've watched it through before making half my comment a more verbose and less thought-through version of what you said not ten seconds later..

Buster is great at mixing... Easily my favorite metal producer not named Scott Burns or Terry Date
