    One of the most smooth and realistic tracks I’ve ever seen! Makes me to consider N-gauge. Well done 👏 👍

    I love watching your videos, Dan. As well as being a superb modeller, you are a great presenter and, yes, teacher! I come here to relax and soak up your enthusiasm.
    I'm one of the many that didn't get off the carpet. In 1971, aged 7 or 8, I was gifted a basic *Hornby OO set which consisted of a simple loop of track, controller etc. The loco was a Hymek Class 35 and there must have been a couple of carriages included.
    Saving up my 5p, and then 15p, per week pocket money I managed to buy more track, points, buildings etc and at some point (probably another present) was the proud owner of a Battle of Britain class 'Winston Churchill'. You had to pour drops of something into somewhere to make it smoke 'realistically'. I remember having a drive-on drive-off car transporter which was all the rage in those days. As a family, we did actually stick the old Mini Traveller onto one these to make the journey to Scotland more reliable.
    Anyway, I saw the scenic backdrops and detailing in the catalogues and knew it was beyond my reach, as an 8 year-old. So I lost interest. For fifty years.
    So, I'm sort of living the 'what might have been' through your content, Dan. Keep it up.
    I'm interested in all things railway - from the Brill Tramway to HS2 and beyond.
    *I'm fairly sure they were still branded 'Tri-ang Hornby' at this time.

      @@greatdeltan6556 Any plans for a branch to a new Great Deltan station? I've been binge-watching the old layout and that little station was one of the highlights for me. I realise it was a pain for you to run.

    • @greatdeltan6556
      @greatdeltan6556  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@DaveFiggley I had thought about it but the way I've built everything so far leaves very little room for a branch, though it would really make the running a lot more interesting

    Layout is fantastic, I have always thought about N gauge due to size constraints like yourself. Especially with modern trains, N gauge gives you great prototypical running. Layout looks very realistic and in scale, which can be harder with N gauge.

    First time I came across your channel. Great model. I love those who use N Gauge. I love the Go Cart track, as I live near a Track at Buckmore Park. Just a small question, what to you plan to use for the overhead wires?

    • @greatdeltan6556
      @greatdeltan6556  9 месяцев назад

      I have made the decision not to include overhead wires on this layout as it would take absolutely forever and would make access for track cleaning 10 times harder. I did however try this on my previous layout and used guitar strings made up into lengths that I hooked on to the gantries and masts.

    Hello Dan This is a fantastic layout, lets hope you can run it long as you can, there is lots of really great work there. Just a quick question though please, do you use various makes of decoder or just stick to one type ? I have heard so many people say one is better than another but its difficult to get an overall view, so far I personally would only like to use Zimo's but Train-O-matic seems a reasonable option (and chesper ?). Thanks

    • @greatdeltan6556
      @greatdeltan6556  9 месяцев назад +1

      For the 6 pin tractive stock I use Bachmann 6 pins and for rolling stock or dummy coaches I'll use either gaugemaster or Rails decoders. As for next18, any tractive stock gets a Zimo and and rolling or dummy stock I use either Dapol imperium or Gaugemaster
