Because throughout the years, there are few horror series that have had the fortitude of this one. And trust me, it's gone through some pretty interesting changes. So join us as we cover the ultimate in horror with the Halloween franchise.

The remake's makeup job, was based on real burns victim's facial scarring.
Thats fine and all but what ruins it is the choice to cgi it tf up. The cgi aged horribly. Should’ve use practical effects for his make up at the very least jeez..

Halloween Ends should've done more with the story. Plus never let someone else wearing The Michael Myers Mask, never do that.
Yeah, that was a terrible ending to that trilogy, the first 2 were decent but that last one had me shaking my head most of the film, it was upsetting to say the least

Never let someone else wear the Myers mask? Ben Tramer, 4 boys in H4, and multiple people in the RZ movies, and Sartain all wore the mask, not including all the different masks Michael wore. Just seems like a weird hill to die on when it comes to requests.

Your summary of Halloween III: Season of the Witch made me laugh out loud. 🤣 I do enjoy that movie though. I really liked the idea of Halloween as anthology series.

In the 80's during the peak of the slasher genre Micheal was dormant. It was all about Freddy and Jason

The 78 Halloween film is considered the blueprint. 1974 Black Christmas and Texas Chainsaw happened prior. The 72 film House on the left was done by Cunningham and Craven. Both wanted in on the genre and Wes took awhile due to the budget he needed for his vision with Freddy.
I know the og Friday film was inspired by the 78 Halloween film. The truth is when Micheal returned the script was flipped. Halloween was chasing the Friday Formula. Micheal was considered a far weaker version then Jason. Also Micheal wasn't that big in the 80's. He laid dormant for 7 years during the peak. This hurt.
The slasher genre was dominated by Freddy and Jason. Freddy and Jason became pop culture big. If you could even find a Myers mask people called you "Jason". Thats crazy to think about but facts. I liked Micheal for being his own thing. I never understood why Micheal needs to be mentioned in a fight with either. I viewed og Halloween like The shining. Great film.
The issue was Freddy and Jason were Supernatural. One a Dream Demon and the other a powerful undead Zombie.
When you think pop culture in the 80's, It's MTV, TV series, Video game, Talk shows, Hotline calls, and music videos. Freddy was King but Jason was a solid #2.
Jason was powered up near the level of Freddy in F13th Part 6. After Dream Warriors and Jason Lives the hype for a fight started between the 2. Freddy was huge box office with casual horror fans. Jason was a huge cult following with big costime sales. I would say Freddy's Glove and Jason's Mask are the 2 most iconic symbols in slasher Horror history.
@@tedunseth3966 If I remember correctly there was a movie that predated all I think its the town that dreaded sundown I see your a Jason & Freddy fan I kike them too but Jason didn't get good until pt 2 after it got dumb Freddy 1 & 2 was good but then it got dumb Og Halloween 1 & 2 are classics even 4 eas good 3 was a good stand alone film but to me its always Micheal he was the 1 that popularized them in my opinion inlike Leatherface but he was just a psycho
@tedunseth3966 doesn't matter Michael started the slasher genre and is the OG slasher king, even scream the 2nd slasher on the mount Rushmore of horror paid homage because halloween is the blueprint for modern horror, it gave scream the formula to create the rules and etc

Still much better than the awkward "wrestling show" Freddy vs Jason, not to mention the unspeakable 2010 remake, oh boy! "Final Nightmare" was quite good and entertaining in its own right, it just wasn't a horror movie.

U forgot James "Jim" Winburn, Tommy Lee Wallace played Michael Myers, Wallace played Myers In The Closet Chase Sequence & Winburn played Myers when Dr. Loomis shoot him out the 2nd story house in the 1st movie.
Tom Morga played Michael Myers half of Halloween IV until he was replaced by George P. Wilbur, also in the 6TH Installment George P. Wilbur did played Myers in the producer's cut but when reshoots happen they kept half of Michael Myers that was Wilbur, but in the reshoots Myers was played by Stuntman Actor A. Michael Lerner & MakeUp Effects Artist Brad Hardin played Michael Myers in couple of scenes with 2ND Unit.

I agree. I know it’s not true to the Halloween lore but I think he did a great job.
Because of the horrible trailer park dialogue, the over the top exploring of Michael's backstory, and just in general halloween didn't need a remake, the only time a movie needs a remake is if it was crap honestly but halloween? No lol
To each their own I personally only enjoyed the parts that were modernized from the OG he had great cinematography but Rob falls short when it comes to writing, as a director he's great but he needs to let someone take over the writing
Ok correct ok the bad dialogue. But if it would have not been called Halloween it would have been great. But since it was supposed be a remake there was no chance anyone would have liked it. And I understand that too, so I try to watch and think it’s not Halloween. I know it’s dumb, but it is what it is,

A. 1, 3 & 7 - The highlights.
B. 1, 3, 4 & 5 - The original main arc.
C. 1 - 5 & 8 - Main continuity (6 is too weird to include and 8 is a plausible continuation after 5).
If you talking 8 is in Freddy vs Jason it continues from nightmare 6 duh

THey need to get a character actor unknown to the mainstream if they ever want to reboot. Dave McRae in Dylan's New Nightmare was a fantastic breath of fresh air after the stinkfest of a remake.
On your essential list Elm Street are all my favs too.

I have to admit that I enjoyed Rob Zombi's first Halloween. But I think there was much more potential that made it a bit lackluster.

I love freddys Dead. Im 26 btw. I grew up with Freddy's dead, the hot rod roll down the hill, the final destination with the plane, the Wizard of Oz parody the smoking weed running away, the trippy vibes and video games just cattered so well for some one like me who was into and living just like those kids. My next fave is Wes Cravens New Nightmare, Freddy vs Jason. Also the reboot is good not for the story but for awesome production, it really does it's best to reboot the original & some of the recreated shots just bring back nostalgia to the original. Hate me for it these are my favorite.
I enjoyed the first RZ Halloween. Not the 2nd one hardly at all though. I feel like because the 2nd one was way too weird that the first one gets roped in with it as being total shit. Putting the 1st RZ one on the same level as 6th the whole Thorne Curse thing is rough for me lol. But word. I agree with pretty much everything else.
Jacky early Haley gets way too much credit for that pos remake. Even he sounds weird.

I'd rather watch the remake over Dream Child and Freddy's Dead again. And I saw Freddy's Dead in the theater, with 3-D glasses.
The Essentials are my Top 3 films (all 3 of them basically tied for 1st place).

The blumhouse trilogy was a lot like game of thrones. It started fucking brilliantly, kinda waned in the middle but kept us intrigued with plenty of action, and the ending pissed everyone off.

Halloween Series is coming out in 2024 the creators of the Cobra Kai series is going to do it. They said it going to be teenage drama with Michael Myers. There fans of the first 2 Halloween movies and there favorite Halloween movie is Halloween 2. They even said if Halloween Ends would have done a good job of putting and end to the series they probably wouldn't even had Michael in the series.
Going to have a marathon with the Elm Street and Halloween movies all week long... MINUS Freddy Vs Jason, the Elm Street remake, Rob Zombie's Halloween movies and the David Gordon Green trilogy.

I actually thought Haley did a great job in the remake and he wasnt the problem with it had they did a reboot and did a new story it might have been great. He was actually creepy and a villian to hate not to root for. I actually like 6 and the remake over 2 , 4 and 5

There are a couple of Nightmare fan movies that are really good that fans should check out.
Some of the flashback sceens in Freddys Dead are actually pretty good and give us a semi-prequel
7:30 this always irritates the shit out of me so i feel the need to point it out. Freddy wasnt resurrected by a dog pussing fire on the bones. He was already back. Kincaid (i think it was kincaid) was dreaming and freddy was messing with him. How tf anyone, and there are a lot of you, managed to mess up so bad that they thought somehow kincaids dog brought freddy back by pissing fire is way beyond me

Microsleep is pretty cool from remake
Making him wrongfully accused wasn't the misstep. Making the "twist" that he was actually a horrible bastard AFTER setting up the possibility of him being innocent definitely was. Basically everyone saw it coming, which brought most of the movie (building up to the twist) right down the drain.

HALLOWEEN - in Rob Zombie's version, I hated how Laurie and Dr Loomis acted. Laurie isn't a shy teenager, and she treated Tommy badly, she cared more about Tommy in the original. And Dr Loomis is a dick. Only caring about his book sales not about Michael. Even telling him he has to move on. The original Dr Loomis was always there. Plus the acting in Rob Zombie's versions, sucked. How they talked sounded so rehearsed and bad.

Halloween (2007) is hoestly my favorite one. Obvs the original is what started it all. Its the best, but i loved Zombies take on it. His sequel sucked Myers dead dick, but the first one rocked for me.
Nightmare on Elm Street can work better as a series than Halloween. Freddy needs one dream and victim per episode and the story can play out in between.
Halloween on the other hand has to follow the rules. When the new trilogy proved one thing it is that the fans don’t want experiments or fresh views who need a little more thinking. They want the standart formula which run the series into the ground. And that formula doesn’t work well in a series.
Only problem is that Robert is Freddy. And the fans will riot no matter what actor takes the glove. Horror fans are a special and rabid breed which is intolerant and allergic to change.
Hot Take: the new trilogy is damn near perfect with each film getting better and better. Ends is the 2nd best Halloween film, after the OG film.

Nightmare on Elm Street isn't really a "simple" story, especially when juxtaposed with Halloween, a notoriously "simple" story...

Love the video, but i disagree! lol ALL HALLOWEEN MOVIES ARE ESSENTIAL! Even Resurrection and RZ H2, im a Halloween franchise fan, not just MM so appreciate Halloween 3, Halloween Ends etc as i think they are very good movies regardless of "fan" reactions to them.

When you watch interviews of the director for Halloween Ends he sounds like a tool, he sounds like he not even a fan of Halloween. Talking about how Michael Myers story has been told it was time for a new character... OKAY JERK THAN DIRECT ANOTHER MOVIE!!!!! He said "I saw a love connection between Alison and Corey right away.. I wanted to do a love story... I was thinking why the hell did you Direct Halloween Ends if this isn't what you wanted to do. INSTEAD OF DISRESPECTING HALLOWEEN AND MICHAEL MYERS just go direct another film and let someone who wanted this to end with a good note. Why get someone who didn't even love Halloween to direct the final one.

you can argue the original is the highest quality movie for sure, but i think 2 is more fun to rewatch as the original is a slow burn
