Can i test all vacuum hoses by disconnecting a hose from the pump and inserting a smoke tester? If yes, which hose should i connect the smoke tester too, top or bottom on the vacuum pump? or both?

My 09 Mini S r56 has 46000 should I wait until I get a engine light before changing out the vacuum pump?
