what is said is this type of magnesium and that it can in the long run be difficult to stop as a sort of withdrawal. the other problem is that it acts on the gaba and glutamate joint which ultimately could in the long run lead to more disregulation, especially in people who are already sensitive. the only way to act on gaba is time, sleep, a good nutritional intake and non-chemical aids such as sport, meditation or yoga for example. but so much the better if it helps someone

Everyone's recommendation and thoughts are great on taking Magnesium L- Threonate but I notice no one is willing to state the type/brand that helps them. I'm wondering why not if we really want to help each other.
Excellent video!!! I do need some clarification, though. The video is titled Magnesium L-Threonate, and you mention this magnesium sometimes in the video. But then, you use only the word Magnesium and symptoms of low magnesium and how magnesium helps with this difficiency. Are you still only speaking of Mag threonate?
I'm really glad that you're making this video.another great video. Doctor Berg. My doctor talks about the brain a lot too. Always great to learn more about the brain.
Andrew Huberman recommended this for better sleeping some hours before sleep. BUT I myself as some others on the net have the *_following problem with that_* - we fall asleep well but *wake up after < 2 hours* and stay awake for the rest of the night, and that's pretty repeatable. No taking Mg-threonate anymore -> problem goes away. So, be aware...
No food has this form of magnesium - it's a purely innovative synthetic form of magnesium that was created with a explicit intent of nurishing the neural tissue in the brain with magnesium (something which is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to achieve with modern food stuff).
@@jeanpaultongeren125 Magnesium is found in foods of course - but Magnesium L-Threonate is synthetic as it can only be created in the laboratory. You can't find Magnesium L-Threonate in foods.
Do you know anything about pure nicotines effects on the brain? I’ve heard it isn’t anymore dangerous than caffeine on its own? I enjoy your videos because you understand why nutrition is important on a cellular level and the explanations have helped it sink in. I have brain issues, fatigue and sleep issues. Can this threonate be taken together with other forms of magnesium? If yes, which ones should I be taking? Thank you!
Takeaways: 1. Magnesium threonate is special since it transports Magnesium across blood brain Barrier, Especially HIPPOCAMPUS which helps in memory, learning, cognitive functions. 2. Magnesium helps in making ATP whuch is energy currency of body. Brain uses 20% of ATP. Less ATP may lead to brain fog, buffers anxiety, less cognitive function, worry. Natural B1 + Magnesium + Electrolytes helps in Brain function and Neurology. 3. Magnesium and Vitamin D helps each other to work properly. 4. Magnesium is a calcium regulator and antagonist. Helps in hypercalcium. It reduces calcium stuck in brain, kidney, arteries etc.. 5. Magnesium is anti oxident. Magnesium has many forms. For brain issues, Magnesium L-threonate is better. For cramping, heart issues , Kidney stones- Magnesium Glycinate or you can also use Magnesium Citrates .
A question I've always had about this synthetic L-Threonate formulation is... well, what natural forms of Magnesium DO penetrate the BBB? What foods contain BBB-penetrating Magnesium? All I've ever heard is that Magnesium L-Threonate is the "ONLY" form that can, well.... I mean, what if Magnesium isn't SUPPOSED to penetrate the blood brain barrier and be in the brain? That's one thing I never understood... it's not like it's been said that certain forms of Magnesium WOULD penetrate the BBB but had weak efficacy, and that say this new synthetic Threonate formulation would do the job of those compounds but better with a longer half life or what have you, but I haven't heard of ANY thing, all I hear is that Mag L-Threonate is the "ONLY" one that can get into the brain, which to reiterate one last time begs the question to me of well maybe Magnesium doesn't NEED to enter the BBB or be in the brain if there's no other instance of that elsewhere? Am I missing a part of the whole story or what Doctor?
You make excellent points. To clarify, Magnesium L-threonate is the only magnesium supplement (edited) that is known to penetrate the blood-brain barrier efficiently. Magnesium can cross the blood brain barrier from dietary intake.
@@WildGoose_F12 Technically all forms can cross BB, but L-threonate is the most effective, it is just like with the absorption (4% vs 45%), some are better absorbed than the others.
Yes! You can find many companies that offer a Magnesium Complex that contains several forms of it. Most do not contain the Threonate form. Also, most Magnesium supplements are lower forms like oxide.
Here's a great question Ive never heard asked, can you take more than one type of meganesium at a time and other vitamins. My husband and I take least 9 different ones.
Due to many brands who produce this magnesium threonate, some are better than others, are there high quality brands you would/could recommend? Thank you, love your videos, very informative. thank you!

I just wanted to say that RUclips has been showing me your newest videos, Dr. Berg, every morning, without fail when I log on. That's good news. With Google, I now have to specifically type in your name in order for search results to show me your content, where in the past I didn't have to specify your name.
My boyfriend just bought this for me to help my post partum depression and I didn’t notice how much sleep I haven’t gotten since my baby was born. I would be up all night and such a light sleeper. Now I sleep through the night and almost don’t wake up for feedings! My baby wakes me up by slapping my face and screaming when she is hungry😂 I used to be awake for hours after a feeding every night. But now I go right back to sleep! Crazy!
My Exam is in 2 months, I hope Choline and This Magnesium helps.
I had amazing results when I tried this form of magnesium just once, my brain went into a super cognitive state, I was processing everything around me and conversation at a 200% level with no effort. I recommend to anyone who this that is learning or studying.
Reassuring words thank you !Was it prescribed to you by your doctor or did you feel from seeing the video that it is exactly what you needed & so how many tablets per day ?
Which brand did you take?
Great Job Again.....Im all OVER IT !!
Loving the new format! And background! ❤ team dr berg! Keep teaching us fans to a healthy better life 😊
Thank you!
This is amazing! It's too bad medical doctors aren't on board with this because so many people could have a better quality Quality of Life by supplementing with vitamins and minerals instead of medications.
Pumpkin seeds are most rich magnisum sources I know that from you pervious videos and I searched about it
Natural dewormer 🎉
what is said is this type of magnesium and that it can in the long run be difficult to stop as a sort of withdrawal. the other problem is that it acts on the gaba and glutamate joint which ultimately could in the long run lead to more disregulation, especially in people who are already sensitive. the only way to act on gaba is time, sleep, a good nutritional intake and non-chemical aids such as sport, meditation or yoga for example. but so much the better if it helps someone
That's all the symptoms I have😢😢.Thank you Dr.Eric.
I found out and started taking magnesium threonate tablets alittle over a year ago but stopped taking 2 months ago as I ran out of tablets. It only dawned on me yesterday that for the last month I have been noticing and thinking I am at the early stages of alzheimers (I am 67) but just put two and two together so today I will be purchasing from Amazon!!!!
What makes you think you’re in early stages?
Best doctor ever
I appreciate your kind words.
I take Dr. Berg's B1 and magnesium l-threonate at night and my sleep has greatly improved as a result.
Thank you for sharing!
Dr.Berg, i have anxiety for 2 years. I have OCD, intrusive thoughts, digestive issues and the main problem is Focus on breathing all the time i feel always air hunger, anxiety, feel always anxious...i have echo test ecg, lungs x ray, endoscopy, LFT, KFT, ULTRASOUND WHOLE ABDOMEN..But the results are all normal...But , i have dificiency of Vitamin D which is 28ng/ml...so, should i take magnesium glycinate and magnesium l- threonate togaether ?
Could u please recommend which supplement is best?
I appreciate your help in explaining different kinds of supplements in detail. Wish you the best.
Very glad to be of help.
FYI this L-threonate helped if not fixed my restless leg syndrome which was triggering seizures. Too bad it’s not covered by the insurance 🤷
My doctor recommended this to me after a concussion.
Taking Magnesium L-Threonate (even at low dose) before bed does make me dream more, but it makes me very groggy/tired the next morning and actually feel more fatigued. Not sure why.
Try taking it in the morning instead it can have a stimulating effect for some
I switched immediately to this type magnesium after listening to another of your videos last month. I didn’t realize the type I take at night in my tea has magnesium carbonate (in Calm). Thank you Dr. Berg, 🥰👌🏾🙏🏾❤️
Calm... Magnesium carbonate and citric acid mixed with water create ionic magnesium citrate.
Happy that you found it useful!
I now take a combination of magnesium’s. I keep a list of the types and descriptions on my phone. 👌🏾🥰
Thank you so much for explaining Magnesium, very informative, really useful. I am grateful your advice dr Berg. ❤
You're most welcome!
Dr Berg I appreciate your videos so much! I’m a long time subscriber and you give me the confidence to learn about my body and health. I like the way you get straight to the point and and make it easy to understand and give extra info for those of us that like to deep dive in topics as well!!
Thank you!
Works! ✌️ I notice an effect in short term memory.
The BEST doctor in the world!!!! As a post-menopausal woman how much magnesium is ideal and also can we combine, for example, I like the Threonate for stress relief and the glycinate for everything else??
Same question
Interesting to hear him say that magnesium L-threonate also needs vitamin B1 and vitamin d3 to work best. It so happens I take all three of them. Thanks, Dr.Berg/
I recently bought Mag L-threonate hoping it would help my ADHD symptoms while I’m off my regular medication. Fingers crossed!
@Helenegardener I didn’t realize he had any. Thanks for much for the suggestion!
Did it help?
@@JML542 Not in any remarkable way. What I found most helpful was taking a systemic approach - more reminders, padding my time even more so, exercise and mindfulness to help boost mental clarity, increase dopamine and reduce mood swings (that ADHD anger is real.)
It was challenging but I’m grateful for the time off my meds, because it helped me (& those closest to me) to realize just how much better I function with it.
@@jness2312 gtk, thnx
I saw one of his earlier vids. On magnesium, about 6 years ago. I followed his advice , and l haven't regreted it. I had done some research on magnesium in 63 when picking cotton in west tex. town of Pecos. I was 18 and most of the locals were in good health. Sad to say l didnt add magnesium to my diet and lm still kicking myself. Thank you Dr. Berg.
Most welcome!
Hi Dr Berg - I am ok - I don’t do anxiety, panic or fear 😊 but thanks for the continued advice ❤
Been waiting for this magnesium information
I also read it penetrates the blood brain barrier
It will come in time .
@@russdadogdumbest comment ever
I don’t have anxiety, panic, or fear either but my memory sucks so I think this would help me
i’ve been taking this at night…helps w/sleep❣️
Sounds good.
Had a lady friend in the past who was easily pissed off! If she wasn't pissed, she was in what I call a "sneaky-angry mood." She drove very aggressively and always snappy at other pretty women! Told her the menopausal type mood was diet related and to stop eating like a hog. Wow! That ended our friendship. 😐
Thank You kindly, Dr. Berg!
Sounds like you did yourself a favor. But in fairness industrial influences on dietary choices according to the food pyramid has been a catastrophic failure.
😂😂😂
I take with P5P and 5HTP to improve sleep.
Thank you Doctor for all you do. Great information
You're very welcome. Glad you found it helpful.
Surprisingly magnesium citrate was the onebi saw moat improvements. It was crazy. I would sleep all day and i started magnesium citrate with krill oil and it was crazy
Could please you share specifically what happened?
Everyone's recommendation and thoughts are great on taking Magnesium L- Threonate but I notice no one is willing to state the type/brand that helps them. I'm wondering why not if we really want to help each other.
GEnologix
Mind max. Mag L threonate.
Life Extension brand.
I take mag threonate. The brand is Nowfoods . Mag is really beneficial.
Hi Doc🙃thank you for this imformative.. keep doing good doc, do not Stop.👍we love you doc Eric 😍
Thanks for your support!
Just fabulous information Dr Berg much appreciated
Glad to know that you liked this post!
Thank you for this video, Dr. Berg. How many milligrams of this form of magnesium should I take?
perhaps you could use the supplement label indications of use
@@fidelcatsro6948Ur sooo smart👍🐈
Ideal will vary with age, gender and health status as well and the amount you get from REAL food.
We suggest that you follow the recommended dose on the label of the supplement that you will get.
❤ Thanks alot dr Berg. This topic is so precious and really useful.🙏👍Thank you again and again Dr Berg.Have a good day.
You're very welcome!
dosage?
frequency?
time of day?
for brain health please doc
I'm really glad that you're making this video.another great video. Doctor Berg. My doctor talks about the brain a lot too. Always great to learn more about the brain.
Oh oh oh!!! Ok. I have the B1. So I will add this too!!! Thanks a billion!!!
Great!
Have you tried taking it in the morning?
I stand behind taking 1000 mg a day, good for the soul.
Brain chatter , anxiety , Alzheimer’s, sleep issues can be addressed with Magnesium LThreonate
Dr Berg,
It is okay to take two different forms of magnesium at the same time?
Hey Dr Berg, love the content. Wondering which food group we can get Magnesium Threnate from. Thanks
No food has this form of magnesium - it's a purely innovative synthetic form of magnesium that was created with a explicit intent of nurishing the neural tissue in the brain with magnesium (something which is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to achieve with modern food stuff).
Is this magnesium found in foods also. Thanks already
I learned early not to just accept what people say unless I knew why for myself so your videos has helped it click because you explain why other than just because it’s healthy.
You're Fabulous! Just what I need. Thank you so much!
Very glad to be of help.
I have brain issues, fatigue and sleep issues. Can this threonate be taken together with other forms of magnesium? If yes, which ones should I be taking? Thank you!
Takeaways:
Hi yes I said that it efficiently crosses the BBB. We're saying the same thing, just in different ways@@tairikuokami
So what if we need magnesium for brain and energy/muscle issues..... Do we take more than one type of magnesium? Please 🙏
Yes! You can find many companies that offer a Magnesium Complex that contains several forms of it. Most do not contain the Threonate form. Also, most Magnesium supplements are lower forms like oxide.
Yes, you can
Great info..i .like the way you explain everything, it makes sense
Glad to know that you liked this post!
Blessings and appreciation from Australia .
Thank you!
❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏I am so happy you did a video of this Mg! I was never sure.
Glad to know that you liked this post!
Should it be taken in the evening or in the morning?
How often should I be taking this? I started taking it and get vivid dreams.
hmmm tourette’s/tics people from what I read, have difficulty absorbing magnesium and it has a lot to do with it not crossing the blood brain barrier
Here's a great question Ive never heard asked, can you take more than one type of meganesium at a time and other vitamins. My husband and I take least 9 different ones.
Yes you can. I do
Thank you. :)
God bless you Dr berg.thanks for your nice videos
But per Dr Ronda Patrick, this is not ready for the public
Amazing video.
Glad you liked it!

Whatever “Covid” is…it cannot survive without magnesium. I’m torn about supplementing right now!
I use organic whole food vitamins/supplements... they are the best of the best recommended by my functional medicine Dr. 😊
Thank you Dr. Berg👑🏆
Most welcome!
thanks im going to try this one, dosage recommended?
Did I miss where you tell us how much is recommended?

Good morning, Dr berg great information thank you very much and all the best 🙏🇨🇦
You're welcome! Glad you found it useful!
It’s expensive and hard to find they don’t have it at cvs
Sprouts and Amazon have it
Due to many brands who produce this magnesium threonate, some are better than others, are there high quality brands you would/could recommend? Thank you, love your videos, very informative. thank you!
The best is “”magtein” magnesium ..T
@@perisndirangu1280 Thank you!
I'm using magnesium aspartate
