Avi (Ah Vee) is the original bass for Pentatonix. He remained with them for 6 years. He is a classically trained vocalist and has a very impressive 5+ octave range. He is also an overtone singer. The cabin he was filmed in in this video is his. It sits on over a 1000 acres of heavily forested land in Tennessee. It is part of the off shoots of the Smokey Mountains. Avi is also the brain child and tri founder of A Capella Academy. ACA is for young people from all over the world. They have to try out online. Only the cream of the crop are chosen. If someone is worthy but without the financing, Avi gets online once a years and takes singing requests for donations. He, Ben Bram and Rob Dietz are the "fathers" for the kids who participate. He travels with his band, performing concerts all over the world every other year. The between years, he writes, records and rests. Avi holds three Grammy's through his work with Pentatonix.

For NJ and any others who aren't familiar with the fantastic performances that each year's classes at A Cappella Academy put out (after only 10 days of intensive study, such as having Avi Kaplan as your bass teacher), here's a perfect example. Avi (Aah-vee) left Pentatonix back in 2017. This is his first solo song - his fight back song! He has released 2 Eps ('I'll Get By' and 'Lean on Me'). The latter was released during lockdown and features alt versions of some of the songs on 'I'll Get By'. He then released a single 'Song for the Thankful' and then the 'Floating on a Dream' LP. Most recently he has released live versions of 4 of the songs from that album as 'Live at Sunset Sound' One of those tracks 'When I m a Fool' is a real banger He has a lot of video only releases and shorts which are amazing. Before leaving PTX he released an EP 'Sage and Stone' under the name 'Avriel and the Sequoias'. His version of 'Hey Ya' is a real treat and 'Quarter Past Four ' is simply beautiful. He is currently working on new music and has hinted that he might be moving towards blues and rock. 'So simple and so effective' - a perfect description. Don't expect all his songs to be like this one. Love to see Avi on your channel! I recommend his “All is Well-trilogy”, the song is from his album Floating on a Dream but there’s three different versions of it out there. First the official duet from the album, then the acoustic version he did for 7Layer-sessions and finally he did Live at Sunset Sounds, in studio with a full band. It would be so much fun to see a reactor listen to all three to see how Avi is the master of changing songs and covering himself!

I do not like Avi........I love his music! A little background for you this was his first release after leaving PTX, and all the voices you hear from the high harmonies to the low bass and growls are ALL Avi. There is a lot more to look at from Avi. His last album is the Shooter Jennings Produced Floating on a Dream and it is amazing. Avi does like to "cover" his own music so be on the lookout for those gems. From his latest album he "covers" All is Well for The 7 Layers Sessions ( On My Way is another cover for this session) and again for the Live at Sunset Sound EP (along with When I'm a Fool, I'm Only Getting Started and I Can't Lie) each version of his songs is amazing for contrast check out All is Well from The 7 Layers Sessions and When I'm a Fool Live at Sunset Sound!
