People are gonna take this as some personal attack against VCHA which is absolutely ridiculous. VCHA was a failure from the inception of its concept. I get they’re younger and that’s the reason for the juvenile vibe, but there was a fundamental and completely egregious oversight for the fact that there hasn’t been a market for this since 2018. Younger kids/tweens (especially those from the west) that VCHA was intending to draw in are far more mature than they used to be due to the internet age, they are completely skipping that phase of their lives where they would have enjoyed VCHA that used to exist in the 2010s. I cannot see my Gen Alpha sister or any of her friends enjoying VCHA at all, while she watched the Popstar Academy documentary and fell in love with KATSEYE. So you’re left with the group not breaking through at all in the western market and being isolated to its K-Pop fans, defeating the entire purpose of a global girl group.
Yes, it was already planned, it kinda reminded me XG's journey with their docu series, it's also insane. JYP was rushing things (probably because he wanted to be "the first" when he actually wasn't lol).

jyp has always been better at marketing towards Japan because they prefer Basic voices and basic dance over there. This is the reason Nizi U is their most successful foreign group for jyp Meanwhile in the west vocals matter more than anything, even visuals. And hybe understood this
Vcha looks like a group of middle school friends who just decided to become a dance group. Basic voices and basic dance moves. Katseye took 2 years to create and it shows how good they are, in sync, cohesive, and they all compliment each other really well visually. Their songs and choreography is way better! Better voices too.
Hybe has a way bette understanding of what fans around the world look for in girl groups. I think because kpop is popular, people want to copy that formula. But globally, people generally like individualism and diversity. And KATSEYE having relatability and also being able to be from different cultures with different humor, makes for a great group that can attract many fans of many ages. I especially like that KATSEYE's music seems to be for 16 to 25 year olds specifically, which is a great demographic that literally fits the members perfectly..
Jyp didn’t give vcha a unique identity they’re being so fabricated and it’s noticeable jyp claims during a2k he wants his idols to be honest and be themselves yet makes the girls all look Korean and act in a certain way that he wants them too if you didn’t know this was a global would think it was just another K-pop group when I showed vcha to my mom she couldn’t even tell they where a global group jyp had no plan going into this and he still doesn’t
I am not currently a kpop stan (I was big into 2nd generation and a bit of 3rd, but not lately)... I'm OBSESSED w/ Katseye and what they're doing, all because of the Netflix documentary. As messy as the doc was, I think HYBE+Geffen did something super smart w/ this group and its construction--yes, appeal to current kpop fans, but they've pointedly worked with Hollywood producers/writers to also release songs with a Western pop vibe. It's a mix of both. And the group is ideally put together to appeal to the US market in particular. I think the casting was brilliant. I didn't know about VCHA (b/c I've been out of the kpop game) but now I'll check them out. But yeah... Katseye is killing their debut imo. My only quibble w/ their EP is the songs are too short! They're all straight bops, but not a single one is even 3 minutes. Their songs need bridges. (the entire EP is only 11 minutes lol)
its not that hard to understand cuz its obvious that katseye has star power and looks like celebrity/models. its unfortunate but appearance and charisma are really important part in being a star. for example, rihanna wasnt the best singer/dancer or performer back then in 2006 but why did she end up being more successful compared to her peers like amerie and tearra mari? its cuz she has huge star quality, great tone and personality. people always root for pretty girls and thats why they root for katseye
Vcha is struggling because JYP doesn’t understand what American fans want / like. So many people that were following A2K were really disappointed when the final challenges of the show came out and we realized that songs like “go getter” were going to be the group’s concept / identity. So many people said “this is too childish”, “it’s too kidzbop”, “too disney channel”, and most American consumers are not going to resonate with that sound. Many people said that “Kaylee is too young to be in this group and her presence in it might limit the types of concepts Vcha could experiment with that could be more palatable to American audiences.” The Katseye members are older and their concept has that “cool girl” factor. Their music doesn’t sound as juvenile, and the lyrics to many of their songs are just better written than anything Vcha has put out so far. I feel like Vcha’s concept is really not that bad, but it’s slightly too “kpop” still. And the music itself…is niche. Vcha doesn’t have to be the most talented group of artists to be successful. They just need to be relatable and produce music that most people will actually like.

JYP collaborated with Republic Records, and after the members were set, JYP was like, "Let me handle them and show you how I always mess up in the West." He promoted them like a K-pop group but with mostly foreign members, targeting a younger audience, even though in the West, fans generally don't "stan" younger artists as it is culturally frowned upon compared to K-pop. VCHA is also being promoted more as a product of JYP, and you can clearly see how JYP wants all the credit. On the other hand, Katseye has always represented what the show intended: to be a global group that targets fans across different age ranges, and they are always referred to as a HYBE-UMG group. Katseye are actively engaging with fans online, whereas VCHA's online presence is almost nonexistent, likely due to the younger members not being able to use social media openly. It's very concerning how it's been months since I've heard about VCHA, and I keep seeing articles like "WHERE ARE THEY NOW?" and "WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM?" Meanwhile, JYP has plans to debut a Latin American group-watch them fumble and blunder again, especially since HYBE has also recently launched HYBE LATAM with broader and more extensive connections. Comparing JYP and HYBE's approach is very interesting-it's like HYBE is testing the waters first, and if it feels right, they dive in. Meanwhile, JYP just jumps in headfirst and ends up drowning.
Good analysis. A2K was all about JYP driving down Pacific Coast Highway with the top of his BMW down. Pop star academy was messy and evil in a way but that’s what people want. People want drama and that’s how the show got so much attention afterwards.

you know.. constructive criticism is very good in order for a group to strive and be successful in the field of entertainment. if there's no constructive criticism how can one improve and better their ways and theme? ..
I think it's too soon to call Katseye a success. They only have one song. VCHA had at least 2 or 3 before going on hiatus. We are still in the wait and see phase for both groups. In general, I much prefer A2K to Dream Academy. Watching the Netflix documentary made me feel so bad for the girls. They didn't sign up for an audition program so to be drawn into one out of the blue actually broke the spirit of some of them. Then they had girls be eliminated by a robotic voice. What the actual hell? I like A2K because they promoted teamwork abd friendship. THAT'S why there was no drama. Not because the girls weren't being themselves but because the Hybe fostered conflict and JYP did not. Also, I'm not a Vcha stan but I think you are doing too much with the criticism of their songs. Their songs are good. Just because you are a Katseye stan doesn't mean you have to hate Vcha. It's ok to like both. I also wouldn't praise Katseye's songs too much. The amount of repetition in both songs is mind-numbing. That's not to say that they're bad. But you can't be like Vcha's songs are so bad and Katseye's songs are so good. They both have OK songs. You have a point about the makeup though.
KATSEYE has multiple songs but only one went really viral which is “Touch.” In my opinion I don’t really listen to their songs beside from “Touch” that worked out and grew on me, and “I’m Pretty” that is good but underrated. I feel like all their songs they have out right now has potiential to be more dynamic. The songs they have out are just too simple for a girl group, but some songs find a way to be catchy and interesting to the western market. And for VCHA their songs are too much like kpop as the English version, and you barely see any artists in the western market remixing their songs or giving them some promotion to their songs. They failed to appeal to the western market. For their survival shows, A2K is more of a Korean-like show, and Dream Academy is on Netflix (and plus you have to pay to watch) It gives off like a global documentary series, and western audiences prefer drama or beef. And also it became one of the most popular documentaries off Netflix. And for the lineup, all of the KATSEYE members are adults or soon to be adults (btw they are all older than me) and the VCHA members are all young and some even younger than me and still in school. I feel like once VCHA suddenly disappeared KATSEYE took their spotlight at the right timing. So that’s why I prefer KATSEYE over VCHA. KATSEYE members are older and mature, they have different cultures and they share off their differences in interviews. They are relatable to their fanbase, and they interact with their fans.
I really liked both cause I watched A2K but how can we believe you, you don't even know Katseye released an EP with 5 songs 😂😂😂 and btw, apart from 10.8million listeners in spotify now..their song is entering the billboard charts. Just accept the fact.
I think both projects was rush more than other... hybe/gliffen got it wrong on all the areas such as no singing skills/dancing is basic but jyp/umc label group do it better on all the package and need changed to completion aka elegant theme is way to go... people think Vcha is bubblegum pop, kidsbop and Disney channel songs but if changing theme a soon before... but katseye falls short in themeing the group don't make sense to me I am not Ikon
What the heck are you talking about ? For the first part, It’s the opposite Kateye got some of the best vocalists and dancers that were already experts before they even auditioned while most of the Vcha members were struggling to hold a note even during the last episode of a2k. What package ?! Have you watched any of the shows ? Hybe took three years to prepare Dream academy!
katseye has 10m+ spotify monthly listeners, their ig/tiktok followers are increasing every day, they've been constantly rising on the global spotify chart and are close to having a hot 100 entry. they're definitely doing well, esp for a western based gg. i can't really say the same for vcha tho
I mean, both groups just debuted so they clearly have a long way to go still but if Hybe x Greffen keep up with the good promotion, Katseye have a bright future ahead of them. Right now they have 10, 6M monthly listeners on Spotify, they have over 1M followers on TikTok and IG, their EP might divided a bit but they still pull out some good numbers for a rookie group. Honestly Katseye are going on the right direction, they just need to make songs that truly showcase their talents. As for VCHA, if JYP x Republic Record do nothing within the following months, it's gonna be hard for them to establish themselves
well the debut was a success. they were received with tremendous support and curiosity. promotional showcase in 3 different countries and their slowly rising in charts. I mean that is still success.

Jyp's aim was to make them a twice English version but it does not works on global market
Is that an insult.. so they're not really a global group. Lmao
@@jermainerodgers is what an insult what I said? No I like vcha lol
I hate how all these RUclipsrs are calling vcha a failure in their titles, vcha gathered more attention than what was first expected, gathered enough fans that keep asking where are they and if it wasn’t for jyp keeping them locked for whatever reason they would be bigger than what they were at debut. It’s still too early to call them a “failure”
Vcha as a debut project was a failure because of JYP mishandling. It's not an argument, their streams sales engagement etc are proof of this.
@@tanielented4773 It was just okay, as I said, It’s not as far as to call it a failure, if jyp hadn’t put them in the dungeon as fast as he did their success could have been more, but if it keeps going on like this for the next months I’ll have to agree
You cant ever compare Katseye to Vcha
Vcha dont even got the western appeal they already failed since the choosen lineup of girls for their survival show
All the others were dozens and untalented, and didn't look right. They did a great choice.
Stop associating katseye to that vcha please, this vcha marketing is not gonna bite us 😅❤❤

Im seriously tired of these videos vcha are still rookies ask this question in 5 years not when they just debut and gone silent for now
Then stop watching them if you're tired of them.
@24Kurenai Ate 💅🏼
So are katseye though ..vcha debut way before katseye
@@kimyoung3160 and the promotion is different literally right now vcha is gone we dont even know if they will come back the only thing vcha lack is promotion not being popular now doesn't mean not being popular in the future u kpop stans want instant success but that not how the world woke sometimes
you know.. constructive criticism is very good in order for a group to strive and be successful in the field of entertainment. if there's no constructive criticism how can one improve and better their ways and theme?
One? Pfft
You said u prefer a2k because you're a vcha fan😂 saying katseye only have one song says it all
KATSEYE has multiple songs but only one went really viral which is “Touch.” In my opinion I don’t really listen to their songs beside from “Touch” that worked out and grew on me, and “I’m Pretty” that is good but underrated.
@@calichxre-hp5txonly touch went viral because it was the only promoted
Where they succeeded? They created a tiktok song with a repetitive chorus like kpop songs
Hybe took three years to prepare Dream academy!
katseye are the best vocalists in hybe plsss
Katsye is 10× more talented than your whole flop group
Neither of them has succeeded yet. Not even a little bit.
katseye has 10m+ spotify monthly listeners, their ig/tiktok followers are increasing every day, they've been constantly rising on the global spotify chart and are close to having a hot 100 entry. they're definitely doing well, esp for a western based gg. i can't really say the same for vcha tho
Katseye debuted a song in the top 200 US spotify which is so hard to do if you follow Kpop... like they're gonna be huge
You're wrong.
Both are flop because American support other country more than their own countries wait for Trump win everything will be better? 😂😂😂
Tf?
Katseye is charting on billboards and 10.6+ millions listeners in just 3 months ago
