Haven't listened much to vcha but i think katseye mostly succeeded because they trained for years and were from the best among the best girls that already had prior training be it dance or vocal and the training may have been Korean based but it was mostly trained and judge by a western team of professionals and it may have been fan voted any girl would have been an amazing part of the group because personally all tge contestant were so good

Vcha failed? When it's only been a year since they debuted and they've only released two projects and have been gone for seven months, that does not make them failures. I agree that Katseye is definitely doing better, but just because you don't see immediate success doesn't make you a failure.

I love how katseye market everywhere...they went to thr phillipines...south korea Japan...they promoted in Ameerica...they will be performing at MALL OF AMERICA at the 19th of this month...they will perform at MAMA Awards in the US in november and JINGLE BALL in the US on two days in December....and I really love how there are actually dark skin members in katseye

I think both projects was rush more than other... hybe/gliffen got it wrong on all the areas such as no singing skills/dancing is basic but jyp/umc label group do it better on all the package and need changed to completion aka elegant theme is way to go... people think Vcha is bubblegum pop, kidsbop and Disney channel songs but if changing theme a soon before... but katseye falls short in themeing the group don't make sense to me I am not Ikon

Hybe has a way bette understanding of what fans around the world look for in girl groups. I think because kpop is popular, people want to copy that formula. But globally, people generally like individualism and diversity. And KATSEYE having relatability and also being able to be from different cultures with different humor, makes for a great group that can attract many fans of many ages. I especially like that KATSEYE's music seems to be for 16 to 25 year olds specifically, which is a great demographic that literally fits the members perfectly..

Vcha has a very immature sound. Katseye is backed my hybe who shoves their artist down your throat.

its not that hard to understand cuz its obvious that katseye has star power and looks like celebrity/models. its unfortunate but appearance and charisma are really important part in being a star. for example, rihanna wasnt the best singer/dancer or performer back then in 2006 but why did she end up being more successful compared to her peers like amerie and tearra mari? its cuz she has huge star quality, great tone and personality. people always root for pretty girls and thats why they root for katseye

i feel like its still WAYY too early to say vcha flopped and katseye succeeded, they are both so so early in their careers and we really dont know what will happen to both groups in the future, one tiktok sensation does not guarantee success

VCHA looks like they still east asian girl group even tho they are a global girl group, they are diverse but their styling is a bit soso. Katseye actually has Fifth Harmony vibes.

I hate how all these RUclipsrs are calling vcha a failure in their titles, vcha gathered more attention than what was first expected, gathered enough fans that keep asking where are they and if it wasn’t for jyp keeping them locked for whatever reason they would be bigger than what they were at debut. It’s still too early to call them a “failure”

I instantly knew Vcha wouldn’t have been successful when A2k was being released and each episode was being edited all childish and annoying like a Kpop variety show. I’m sure there were SOOOO many girls who auditioned who would’ve fit the exact image a western audience would’ve loved but you mean to tell me the best you could find was a…..13 year old???

JYP is a mess. Straykids and Nmixx the noise music pollution groups. ITZY used to have good songs but recent comebacks are not doing it. Then, VCHA seemed to be a rushed group,

JYP collaborated with Republic Records, and after the members were set, JYP was like, "Let me handle them and show you how I always mess up in the West." He promoted them like a K-pop group but with mostly foreign members, targeting a younger audience, even though in the West, fans generally don't "stan" younger artists as it is culturally frowned upon compared to K-pop. VCHA is also being promoted more as a product of JYP, and you can clearly see how JYP wants all the credit. On the other hand, Katseye has always represented what the show intended: to be a global group that targets fans across different age ranges, and they are always referred to as a HYBE-UMG group. Katseye are actively engaging with fans online, whereas VCHA's online presence is almost nonexistent, likely due to the younger members not being able to use social media openly. It's very concerning how it's been months since I've heard about VCHA, and I keep seeing articles like "WHERE ARE THEY NOW?" and "WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM?" Meanwhile, JYP has plans to debut a Latin American group-watch them fumble and blunder again, especially since HYBE has also recently launched HYBE LATAM with broader and more extensive connections. Comparing JYP and HYBE's approach is very interesting-it's like HYBE is testing the waters first, and if it feels right, they dive in. Meanwhile, JYP just jumps in headfirst and ends up drowning.

Vcha is struggling because JYP doesn’t understand what American fans want / like. So many people that were following A2K were really disappointed when the final challenges of the show came out and we realized that songs like “go getter” were going to be the group’s concept / identity. So many people said “this is too childish”, “it’s too kidzbop”, “too disney channel”, and most American consumers are not going to resonate with that sound. Many people said that “Kaylee is too young to be in this group and her presence in it might limit the types of concepts Vcha could experiment with that could be more palatable to American audiences.” The Katseye members are older and their concept has that “cool girl” factor. Their music doesn’t sound as juvenile, and the lyrics to many of their songs are just better written than anything Vcha has put out so far. I feel like Vcha’s concept is really not that bad, but it’s slightly too “kpop” still. And the music itself…is niche. Vcha doesn’t have to be the most talented group of artists to be successful. They just need to be relatable and produce music that most people will actually like.

I was one of them. But then I remembered kpop stole from the black community and the Japanese training system and is coming into worldwide spaces, esp western spaces in award shows and fashion shows so why wouldn't the west get a piece of the pie.

Jyp didn’t give vcha a unique identity they’re being so fabricated and it’s noticeable jyp claims during a2k he wants his idols to be honest and be themselves yet makes the girls all look Korean and act in a certain way that he wants them too if you didn’t know this was a global would think it was just another K-pop group when I showed vcha to my mom she couldn’t even tell they where a global group jyp had no plan going into this and he still doesn’t

I am not currently a kpop stan (I was big into 2nd generation and a bit of 3rd, but not lately)... I'm OBSESSED w/ Katseye and what they're doing, all because of the Netflix documentary. As messy as the doc was, I think HYBE+Geffen did something super smart w/ this group and its construction--yes, appeal to current kpop fans, but they've pointedly worked with Hollywood producers/writers to also release songs with a Western pop vibe. It's a mix of both. And the group is ideally put together to appeal to the US market in particular. I think the casting was brilliant. I didn't know about VCHA (b/c I've been out of the kpop game) but now I'll check them out. But yeah... Katseye is killing their debut imo. My only quibble w/ their EP is the songs are too short! They're all straight bops, but not a single one is even 3 minutes. Their songs need bridges. (the entire EP is only 11 minutes lol)

I think it's too soon to call Katseye a success. They only have one song. VCHA had at least 2 or 3 before going on hiatus. We are still in the wait and see phase for both groups. In general, I much prefer A2K to Dream Academy. Watching the Netflix documentary made me feel so bad for the girls. They didn't sign up for an audition program so to be drawn into one out of the blue actually broke the spirit of some of them. Then they had girls be eliminated by a robotic voice. What the actual hell? I like A2K because they promoted teamwork abd friendship. THAT'S why there was no drama. Not because the girls weren't being themselves but because the Hybe fostered conflict and JYP did not. Also, I'm not a Vcha stan but I think you are doing too much with the criticism of their songs. Their songs are good. Just because you are a Katseye stan doesn't mean you have to hate Vcha. It's ok to like both. I also wouldn't praise Katseye's songs too much. The amount of repetition in both songs is mind-numbing. That's not to say that they're bad. But you can't be like Vcha's songs are so bad and Katseye's songs are so good. They both have OK songs. You have a point about the makeup though.

Putting it on netflix is a big move

People are gonna take this as some personal attack against VCHA which is absolutely ridiculous. VCHA was a failure from the inception of its concept. I get they’re younger and that’s the reason for the juvenile vibe, but there was a fundamental and completely egregious oversight for the fact that there hasn’t been a market for this since 2018. Younger kids/tweens (especially those from the west) that VCHA was intending to draw in are far more mature than they used to be due to the internet age, they are completely skipping that phase of their lives where they would have enjoyed VCHA that used to exist in the 2010s. I cannot see my Gen Alpha sister or any of her friends enjoying VCHA at all, while she watched the Popstar Academy documentary and fell in love with KATSEYE. So you’re left with the group not breaking through at all in the western market and being isolated to its K-Pop fans, defeating the entire purpose of a global girl group.

Vcha looks like a group of middle school friends who just decided to become a dance group. Basic voices and basic dance moves. Katseye took 2 years to create and it shows how good they are, in sync, cohesive, and they all compliment each other really well visually. Their songs and choreography is way better! Better voices too.

They rushed and that’s what’s messed them up. Hybe took YEARS building katseye..
