- This is a review, shameless plug, and affiliate link for the new office chair I bought a couple months ago. It is the Hyken Mesh Chair from Staples. It has great lumbar support and a cool breathable mesh covering. If you wish to buy one, here is the Amazon link: amzn.to/2ZjF10s
Thank you very much for the walk through and tips! I’m excited to get mine in a couple days.
Thank you for this review, I am actually looking into getting one of these.
This is a really well presented review and the coupon tip is very helpful.
incredible review. no other review specifically mentions that back and the seat will move independently, which is an absolute must for me
Awesome review! Tested this out in person at staples. Definitely using your link! 😎
thank you! I'm SOOO Glad I got it. I've taken a job working remotely and now I'm spending even MORE time at my computer.
I've had my Hyken for about a week now. I love it. I'm about 6 feet tall so the head rest tends to hit me in the shoulders now matter how I adjust it. So I just left it off. I can honestly say that I don't miss it at all as my last chair didn't have a head rest. The only thing I would want to change is the arm rest adjustments. I'd like something that was not just discreet steps. One setting might be too low, the next might be too high. I was able to make due with the settings, but for some it may be an issue.
The lumbar support does adjust. You can move it up and down about 3~4inchs?
just bought one, wish i saw ur vid first to know about the rewards coupon! nice review!
Thanks for the review Matt. I also bought the same chair and I like it very much. I want point out 2 things in your view though:
1. The lumbar support can adjust, albeit, about 1-2 inches up or down.
2. THe head rest height can also be adjusted up or down. But the adjustment is tight.
Other than that, great video review!
It's crazy, I bought this chair back in like 2015 and still use it and it's as good as the day I bought it. I think I paid ~$100 in store.
you've had it for 5 years? any issues?
It’s crazy because its been a year for me now and its been the worst chair ever for me, the whole seat is sagged and it gives me hips butts and back pain, just a regular wooden stool is better than this for me. Im 180pounds which is way under the limit. I really wonder why I have different experiences as thousands of other people on the internet
I've had this chair for about 6 months now, and today I just realized you can move the headrest up/down VERY slightly. If you pull the headrest up it should click into one of three positions, and by default it's in the lowest position. I hadn't realized it was vertically adjustable because it was REALLY hard/stiff, but I promise you it can be adjusted vertically if you give it enough force.
great review..best i found , so far. thanks...:)
bought the chair for 160$ off of a local website and I found this video. Great review and great chair
thank you matt i love you
I can't wait to get mine tomorrow. I ordered from Staples, and it was on sale and I used a 20 dollar coupon! So I saved a nice amount over the msrp of the chair. I hope it's better than the current chair I own.
How is it ?
The seat totally does tilt with the back..it's actually very visible in your video .. I own one and realized that the back does not recline like the 400 dollar similar Looking chairs...this one is more like a rocking mechanism as opposed d to reclining.. .it's not bad but it does raise my feet off the ground then I lean back ( I'm 5'6") which can hurt the back of my thighs over long periods of leaning baczk...and it bends the knees uncomfortablely if I dont put my feet up on a foot rest or something. Taller people may not notice this as much but it does change the position if your legs slightly. For the price it's not bad . Just wanted to point that out as a lot of people seem to think the seat stays flat when it doesn't
Thank you. Nice
Whats the difference between "old" one vs the new "FlexFit™" Hyken one?
It's good chair, but I hope the seat would be adjustable fwd/backward! , something to look fwd to, maybe aeron
how can the lumbar support be adjusted?
What were your other options when you were looking at mesh chairs? It was either this or Ergo Chair 2 for me which is about a hundred bucks more expensive. I really like this chair, comfy but not TOO comfy and the tilting is pretty sweet.. What do you think of the arm rests? They were a bit of a pain for me I personally had to buy armrest cushions to relieve pressure.
I was on a budget too, didn't want to spend more than about $200. I felt like I needed to go to the store and sit in it first, so I went to Staples and tried them all out. I don't remember the other contenders.
I love most everything about this chair EXCEPT for the very hard lumbar support cushion. I don't see a way to remove it though. Anyone know how it can be removed ? I feel like I 'm getting an Accupressure treatment that never ends ! lol
Why do people keep saying the lumbar is not adjustable?
The lumbar support is adjustable
I can't seem to put the wheels on, there's a ring in it though, do I have to take it out?? It's not going in..
They snap in. It's a bit tricky, but if you tap them in, they go in okay. That ring has a gap that acts like a retainer to keep the wheels from falling out.
@@MattKnowsThat Thank u, I just pushed them in with more force and it worked, thanks! 😊👍
The lumbar support in the Hyken is adjustable.
Thank you. Yes, but it only moves up and down 3/4" so not very useful.
After two weeks of use, my hyken chair started squeaking? Is there any way to fix it or get it covered by warranty?
Hyken gives you 7 years warrantly.
can you adjust the chair height and how high can it go?
Yes, the seat height on mine goes from about 17" to 21". The seat is curved, so it's hard to measure, but I put a notebook on the seat and hung it off the front edge to get those heights.
@@MattKnowsThat Thanks. I really want a Herman Miller aeron however its far too expensive for me right now. This seems like a great alternative
just grabbed one for $125 at staples.
hi matt i bought this
Great. I hope you enjoy it. I'm still very happy with mine.
How is the mesh holding after 7 months of use
looks and feels like the day I brought it home, and I'm in it working 5-6 hours 5 days a week.
How is the chair holding up?
Perfect. It gets used about 6 hours a day and looks like the day I opened the box and assembled it. I've really grown to love the tilt lock feature. Thanks for asking.
@@MattKnowsThat Was your black or grey color?
How is the chair now Matt?
Great! I took a job working from home, so in addition to my content creation/RUclips duties, I'm spending another 20 hours a week in the chair. Glad I have it and glad I have two big monitors.
@@MattKnowsThat I think I bought something similar to the Hyken chair. Does about the same features you mentioned in the video. A very comfortable chair and I think my lower back pain is starting to go away! Thanks for the awesome video Matt.
Got a Walter White vibe going on
Where do you buys this?
