I have the hyken, by father has the dexley. They both work well and I've had my hyken for MANY years (like 7+ years) with zero issues. I bought it when it was like half the price that people buy it for now.
this video says the Dexley's tilt doesn't go as far back as the Hyken, but the product images show the Dexley goes further back to 135 degrees.
Can you compare the Dexley vs the Hyken?
Is the mesh abrasive or uncomfortable on skin?
They have 8 of these at my job, 6+ years of everyday use for 18+ hours a day. They are all in perfect condition. Biggest guy in the office is 6’2 260 pounds. The slight sag does exist but even at the highest level it only drops an inch or less. WD-40 for the “squeakiness”.
The arms can be adjusted some by loosening screws that attach them and sliding one direction or the other. Then tightening them back down.
Yes but if you're referring to the hyken then even with those screws set so the armwrest goes ALL the way out, if you're over 5'7 you're gonna be squishing your arms to your sides if you hope to use the armrests
6' 150lbs been using it for almost 3 years and it still holds up well no damages either.
I use the larger Dexley chair and I sit on it all day long, I'm working from home and I game on it and it's been really great. The only thing is since I'm working from home in my PJ's, the mesh isn't comfortable so I put down a cover. But in jeans it's fine. Support is great, I can sit here for long hours without backaches and I do have back issues.

Off the bat!. I went to staples and sat in both chairs to test. As you said, the Hyken is definitely for the "smaller" person. I am 5'10" and weigh roughly 200lbs. I sat in the union square and it was an immediate winner for my size. It was built wider. In the Hyken, I felt a bit scrunched in the arms like they were being squeezed together and it would get uncomfortable over time. So yes, for the "bigger" people, the union is great. It was just that much more comfortable. Only downside is that it doesn't have the headrest.👍

I'm looking at this chair because one year ago I had bought a "gaming chair" and its already falling apart in terms of the PU leather and the bottom cushion has made a grove for my but and it doesn't rise anymore, I'm not heavy either I weigh 127IBS. its sad to see chair not even make past the 1 year mark. I didn’t see your video till after I bought this chair. When I went to Staples, I tried 12 different chairs and this one proved the most comfortable to me. I use it mainly for tele-work, 8 hours a day, and some XBOX/PC gaming here and there. So far, it helps prevent circulation problems in my legs from sitting all day. Oh, yeah.. I got a $40 discount, because the AWESOME cashier gave me the cheaper online price!!
Dude I did the exact same. I went to staples today and tested all the chairs there and this one was my favorite and imo more comfortable than the dexly which is the newer model of the chair, online the price was $100 cheaper and the cashier let me get the online price so I felt like the chair was really good for that price but hopefully I don’t have any issues with the chair down the line. I got the 3 year warranty on the chair tho for $20 just in case a part stops working

@@UltraKryptonian my old chair was a used chair from offerup for $10 so huge upgrade. It was a leather chair and it’s been peeling for the last chair. After the discount it was $160 before tax. How much did you pay for yours cuz I’m just curious if I paid a good price

I have super bad circulation problems in my legs too, does this chair really make it better? I thought it was too firm and I'm pretty hesitant to get it
Would've been the perfect chair, but the lumbar support dug into my back and gave me terrible back pain. I wish the lumbar support was removable.
I have this chair and its good, the only problem is the lumbar support really pokes my back and destroys my posture :(
pretty accurate review on the Hyken....Dexley is where it's at though
I've had the chair for more than 4 years now. I'm 5'11 and 175 lbs. I use it 6 hours a day. The mesh has held up well. I'm sure it's not as taught as when it was new but still has good support. I wish the headrest could be raised an inch more. After awhile, the headrest and lumbar adjustments can become loose.
I’m 5’10 and around 200 lbs. You think this chair will be a good fit? I see a lot of people saying different things about this

@@justingreen575 I've literally broken a Herman Miller mesh chair at work sitting down too hard and another one standing on it to play office cubicle volleyball with a co-worker. No, this cheap chair will not support 275 lbs for long.

Tilt mechanism broke after just over a year of usage.
Pretty limited to begin with since seat and back tilt are locked together and there's only three positions.
Too often I've felt that I want the seat in a position between the middle and largest angle but it only locks to either one.
Here's how mine broke: Every once in a while over the span of a maybe two months, I'd find a very small black metal piece on the floor which I later figured out to be gear teeth. I basically keep my chair in the middle position so I assume that put a lot of shear strain on the gears that lock it in place. Now there's a lot more range of motion in the middle position which is pretty annoying.
I'm honestly astounded how the manufacturers thought that those small gear teeth (basically 1/16" thick) wouldn't eventually shear off.
Bought the warranty though so I'm using the replacement until it eventually breaks again and gunning for a steelcase v2 since it wasn't that uncomfortable.
Same thing just happened to me. Gear teeth on the floor and all. Really sucks considering the price for this thing.

i bought this chair 7 years ago. it used to only have a 3 year warranty when i bought. it.
I had a cylinder go out about 2 years in so I got a new cylinder by calling the warranty number. they sent another one out. all they needed was the proof of purchase and receipt number.
Year 3 before the warranty expired I had a kid who chewed the arms of the chair. I just went ahead and requested new arms, new seat, new back and a new cylinder. so basically got 2 chairs for the price of 1. I just repurchased the chair again. 2 years later. Although I am making some modifications. I am getting the roller blade style wheels and getting a heavier cylinder. (the stock is rated at 275 and I am just above that)
The biggest problem is finding a chair with the right counter sink. You all will notice this chair has part of the lift that sticks out under the base. I wish it wasn't so, but its what we have. I am 6 foot and would like to be able to have the chair go just a little lower than my after market lift allows it to go, so im trying to find on to support 300 (so my kid can sit on my knee and watch, but still have the counter sink. not many replacement cylinders look like the hykens. which i wish wasn't so.
overall, this chair is great, and the warranty is really the selling point. in 2021 the chair has a 7 year warranty. so i guess ill see how it hold up now
I bought the dexkey on sale for 189 with 20 dollar warranty for 3 years that covers any damage.
Got this chair while I look for a more high end option as I have back issues and I gotta say it’s very nice for $199 it’s definitely worth it.

I’m mostly curious about the strength of the fabric. My cat loves climbing up and standing on the headrest of my current chair. If my cat clawed this would the fabric material hold up?

My hyken lumbar support keeps slipping to the bottom, this was during the first day of use. Is this normal?
I’m 6’5” and got this chair a couple years ago through an online order. It’s ok but too small for me. The arm rests are also very uncomfortable, I wish they had memory foam. I do like the look of it and for the price it’s pretty good. If I was smaller I’d like it a lot more.

@@beariyy3872 I sat on it in a store and it's a perfect fit for me at the lowest setting; I'm 5'1 and a lot of chairs don't go low enough for me, but that one did. However you are a couple of inches shorter, so I doubt it. Sorry, English is not my mother tongue if some words don't make sense 😆
I'm 5'11 and weight about 200. The Hyken was way too small for me. The seat and armrests were far too narrow for my build.
What’s the tallest from floor to seat?
I've had two of these chairs (inherited one from my sibling) and it was great in the beginning. However, if you're on the bigger side, or even just have wider hips, this chair will hurt in the long run. Due to the mesh seat, it gives under your weight and it pushes up the outside of your hips uncomfortably, thus making your back hurt. Look for a chair with a flat bottom and wider seat 👍🏻

Mine has been terrible after 2 years although it was great at first. The foam that's below my knees wore out quickly and doesn't stay in place any more. Also, the arm wrests have started to warm and pieces of it have been falling off.
I've been using mine for 7 years, and it's finally time to replace it.
I'm 5'11", 165lbs, and use it on average roughly 40 hours/week. About 2 years ago, the padding on the armrests began to disintegrate. Now, what's left is frayed and loosely sitting. The seat is sagging, and has been for about 3 years. Still supports me, but there's a noticeable sink. The waterfall padding on the seat has compressed, and over the past year the seat has been slowly tearing. The headrest no longer holds a position. The base of the chair has a noticeable wobble.
I should note I rarely sit regularly with normal posture. I move around in my chair a lot, and often have my legs up on the chair, or lean heavily into the arms.
Still, for the price, I'm impressed it has lasted as well as it has. I'm moving away from this style chair for my next one because the hard frame isn't really conducive to how I sit, but I think it's an easy chair to recommend to someone looking for a full-featured chair on the cheaper side that will last them a while.

i bought and still own mine back in 2015 and its still going with some tube socks ( black in color) over the arm rest ( due to the rubber ripping apart) but the socks cover them well have a nice feel and let me still push the buttons with ease and my first lock for back tilter has worn out and now dose not work

I tried both the sexy and Hyken in the stores and the Hyken wins for me. The Hyken tilt is more adjustable than the Dexley. I also like the way the Hyken looks more than the Dexley.
@Digital Cynics, I am 5'0" and trying the Hyken out in the store was pleased by its smaller/narrower seating, and found the mesh amazingly comfortable, just I would have to lose the headrest entirely. When you were searching for your new chair, did you happen to notice a chair similar but without a headrest, by any chance?

It's called the "dexley mesh chair".
I use this chair as my gaming chair I play on console and I can’t say I don’t love it tbh. Wish the arm rests were lower even on the lowest height it’s a bit too tall and shrugs my shoulders upwards. Removed the headrest because it was super uncomfortable pushing my neck forward. The lumbar support is not the best something about this chair feels like it’s not symmetrical. Also you can expand the width of the armrest on the bottom of the chair with a Allen wrench
Im 200lbs and I fell straight through the floor in the hyken having to make an insurance claim almost a week after purchasing. It was a decent chair, but I went with the Lockland big and tall in the end. Way more comfortable and sturdier.

I absolutely loved this chair for the first 6-9 months that I had it. However, the first thing that failed was the foam positioned at the front of the seat that supports your thighs, lower gluts. This foam separated from the mesh and moved its way out. Eventually, it became totally disconnected and now I have absolutely no support for my thighs. I'm average weight for my height, 5'10" 170lbs, and losing this foam support causes serious discomfort in my legs after 30-60 minutes of use. Long term, I'm legit worried this lack of support could lead to restricted blood flow in my legs.
Overall, I got the chair at an INSANE price via discounts on Black Friday, about $130 shipped, so for that price I'm not that upset. However, if someone paid the full $229+ for this chair, I feel the quality and durability just wasn't acceptable at that price range.
What chair do you recommend?

how is this for people who are over 190cm and over 100kg?
I'm just 6'1 and it is too small for me to the point where it actually hurts to sit in it for a few minutes at the store. As for the materials: very cheap, and the mesh was too stiff for me. I'm going to spend that extra 300-400 for a very good mid-chair. It's one of those things where it's worth it to invest a good amount of money into.
What’s the tallest seat setting
I just got this chair and I can’t stand the smell that its giving off. I’ve had it for 4 days now and I don’t know how to get rid of that toxic smell thats coming off of it. Any advise?
Seems to be a common issue with mesh chairs, I've read that it goes away after a few weeks on its own. You could try spreading some baking soda on it and then letting it sit for a day and vacuum it off
It looks like it pushes your head too much forward. Is it as bad as it looks?
Have you tried to tighten the tilt tension underneath the chair?
Yep. It works well enough but still has that bit of "give" that I mentioned in the video. Not a big deal though for me. Thanks for watching!

My review: It was great at first, then the hydraulic piston wore out within 3 months. After replacing that the chair began to squeak loudly. After that the back piece came apart and doesn't want to clip in again so if I push my head back on the rest the whole back of the chair comes apart. I'm unhappy at this point 6 months later. I have to presumably disassemble and lubricate this chair to fix the squeaking.

Had this chair for a few months now and have to say its not very comfortable, im only like 130lbs and the mesh sags pretty bad (pretty much sitting on plastic) and the headrest doesn't go high enough

I have the dexley and my main complaint about it is that give. I want to be able to lean against the chair and not slide backwards. I guess this one will not be the one I get either.
what do you mean by not slide backwards? you mean your hips sliding forward?
@@tor13128 actually I bought the extended warranty on my chair and as I started looking at it I figured out it had broken. The pin that stop the back from moving backwards and forwards had wallowed out the hole so when you sat down you were always is an almost all the way reclined position. I will say that I am a large guy and close to the chairs limit weight wise but not over it. Maybe that had something to do with it?
When I warrantied it they refunded me the entire amount rather than give me the chair and I ended up buying a lazy boy office chair. I have complaints about this one too but that's a different story. The main reason I didn't go with the same style chair was because I like the bottom of the chair to move with the top of the chair so you are always in an L position where with the dex only the back part of the chair leaned backwards. This is personal preference not a chair issue.
What is the size of the armrests? Wanted to get some arm rest visions and they work on arm rests up to 10.5 inches. What is the width and length of the arm rests on this chair

My chair broke. I left a post on it on reddit and I keep getting people DMing me asking how I fixed it so I'm not the only one lol.
If yours break, look up the PDF for the user's manual and call the manufacturer. They will send free replacement parts.
For people that don't have this chair yet, I'd recommend just saving up for something higher quality like a Knoll ReGeneration.

Idk, I sat in the Hyken as a 6" 1' and it is WAY better than the Dexly. The Dexly sits way too low for my feet and lower back to be comfortable. Sitting in the Hyken, everything is just perfect. IF you're tall, don't get the Dexly. If you can't drive to a Staples and test both, pick the Hyken. Also 3 year warranty that includes wear and tear.
Nice chair if the wheels would actually swivel instead of scraping the floor like nails on the chalkboard. Will be returning this pos.
One little question is the mesh good quality?
I dont have any complaints with the mesh. Especially for it being less than $200.

The Dexley I bought started creaking after a few months. It drives me nuts. I don't recommend it.

If you are the body type for it, I'd say it is. Not many budget options out there for decent ergo chairs. The dexley is the only other one that I can think of in that price range that might be a good option.
I’ve had this chair for a little over a year and I absolutely can’t stand sitting in it. I mean i’m tall but it’s not like i’m a giant (I’m 6’1) and the head rest is too low. Also the back support just feels like a piece of plastic that digs into my back. Don’t get this chair

I sit in this chair ~9 Hours each day and I'm 5`11 and ~150lbs. I been using it for about 4 months already. I did have to modify the headrest but its comfortable for me. I would recommend to test it out for yourself at a local staples or office store that has models set up before buying.

@@DeleteMACI searched up "hyken headrest mod" and I did the one from the guy "SomeTechNoob" on imgur (First Search result). It worked great however, you would need a slightly bigger allan wrench and a skinny somewhat long screwdriver (I used a standard flat top screw driver that was skinny enough not to damage the mesh).
@@DeleteMAC Also, be aware of the tilt mechanism because you have to pull it apart with a lot of force and it should pop out. The guy I did it from did not mention that there is a tilt system that might interfere with the tilting however, I had to redo it a few times which was annoying but I eventually got it. Also, when putting it back together I had to use a lot of force to tighten the screws back to the head so it can work. Just be careful to not strip the screws in the process

Your measurements of the armrest from the floor to the top of the armrest is pointless without disclosing the height of the seat of the chair. Those measurements will change depending on whether you've got the hydraulic seat lowered all the way or extended all the way to its full height.
