My first Apple Watch - the S8. I have a slim wrist and tried both in-store. The 45mm was ok, but felt too bulky, particularly as I want to use the watch for sleep tracking. Unless others have experience of sleep tracking with a larger watch, I felt that the 45mm was going to be too big to sleep with.
This is my concern. I have a Fitbit Versa 2 right now, and it took me awhile to adjust to it and it's 40x40mm roughly. So 41x35mm will be similar for me. I think a 45mm is going to annoy me with sleep tracking.

Thanks CJ! I wish I would have seen this video before I decided to get the Series 8 SS. I bought the 45MM S8 SS from T-Mobile that came with a Stainless Band. It was very heavy and looked too big for my small wrist. I decided within the 14 day window to return it and get the 41MM S8 SS. I'm very happy now. One of the reasons I bought the watch is because of the built in safety features. Thanks for bringing safety up. I'm a senior and this watch is better than any Med-Alert service I've seen. I'm going to check out that magnetic band too!
if you have 6 inch wrist but a flat sided wrist 45mm might work like for the guy in the video. but if you have rounded 6inch wrists the watch can't sit flat against your wrist aesthetically
I browsed a number of videos because I can’t figure out the size I want, I’ve never owned an Apple Watch, and your video is the best I have seen addressing size. I have a 5” wrist and appreciated that you clearly stated your wrist size of 6”. The 41mm is more attractive on your small, slim wrist and I will probably order it soon. Thanks for your very helpful video! 😎
I agree, if you are buying online its really hard to get a perspective on the size I took a chance on getting the 41 (small lady) and it's perfect. Most of the things on the home screen require you to tap them to bring them up and then their much bigger to view anyway.
I’m upgrading to the series 8 from the series 5 44mm. Decided to go with the 41mm for the series 8. Big screens are nice but after a while, I got tired of the bulkiness of the 44mm on my small wrist. The bands on either end of the face never sit flush against my wrist. It’d be worse with the new series 45mm. I’ll be giving my series 5 to my 13 year old son since his wrists are larger than mine.
got the 41mm and my wrists is slightly bigger than yours and i was wondering if i made a mistake and i come to realize that 41mm is just perfect! no need for a bigger bulkier display. The 41mm meets all my needs and looks great on my wrist.
This isnt a breitling lol. All the bling on those things, they WANT to be seen, so they are large watches. This is a smart watch. Its meant for funtionality over everything, so comfort is critical. People are going to be working out with these things. And for a lot of people 41 is going to be the most comfortable unless you have a really large wrist. You dont want to be jogging or riding a bike and feel the watch. Thats not ideal or comfortable.
41mm definitely looks better. The larger watch on your smaller wrist looks like kid nonsense. The 41mm on you has the looks of a more refined, no nonsense adult timepiece . You can be a geek and still show some class. I have a seven inch wrist and I’m looking to upgrade to the 41mm Series 9. The Ultra and Ultra 2 looks stupid ridiculous on my wrist. Just my humble opinion. Thank you for the review. Rs
I use the oxygen sensor feature the most. I have the 41mm with Apple's packaged band. The enclosed band keeps the watch snug on my wrist while taking oxygen readings. I also sleep with my watch on. Other bands can give no, or intermittent readings, if not a "snug fit". My wrists are even smaller than yours. I am into sports activities. I felt the larger watch would "get in the way" more than I would like. I love my watch and it works for me.
I like the 45 on you. It fits nicely, and big as you can handle is best when talking digital displays. My wrist is 5.5, so I think I have to go with a 41. Maybe I should get a 45 and put it on my upper arm lol.
I've personally never been able to convince myself that a watch was worth hundreds of dollars, when I already have a cell phone that has a much larger display, and is never more than an arm's length away! So, if I were ever going to drop that much money on an Apple watch, I definitely be getting the ultra with a display that is large enough to make it worth my wild!
You are right on! I am a female with the smallest wrist of anyone I know and I love my Ultra. The screen size is a huge asset, and I love everything else about it. It is both elegant and tough, and the fit and finish are impeccable. I didn’t even consider the 8. I went down to my neighborhood Apple Store and tried it on to make sure the bands would fit and bought one without hesitation.
So right now I’m using a 45mm product red series 7. I just ordered myself a 41mm stainless steel graphite series 8. I think I’ll like the 41mm b e cause it won’t look like a computer or calculator on my wrist. Ofcourse if I don’t like the 41mm I can go back to my 45mm. I think the smaller 41mm looks better on your wrist!
Man the stainless is nice but it’s so expensive for a product you upgrade in a few years …. I do value sapphire and steel but Apple really takes you over the coals for that material
41 just looks better to my eye. I went in to the Apple store and tried them on and the 41 just looked better. The 45 feels like I’m wearing a chunky Dick Tracy watch. It just looks kind of goofy.
Thanks for the comparison. I decided on the 45. Great purchased. Got the sport band because arthritis. I had hoped to get a veterans discount but that is only given online. I haven't had a watch on my wrist for nearly 50 years. I love my watch.
I have a 6 inch wrist and I have a series 5 Apple Watch 44mm I love the larger face will be upgrading soon to the series 8 love my Apple Watch! The 8 will be my 4 th Apple Watch ❤
You can wear either size but I really like the 45 on you. Maybe it’s because men’s watches tend to be bigger so it’s more of the look I’m used to. I think it just looks more expensive too even though it’s the “same” watch. I know your 45 is literally more expensive with the material you chose and the leather band, but i think even if you switched bands, it just reads more luxurious to me. As for me, i have the series 3 and haven’t used it for a few years 😂 i got the 38 because I felt like the 40 was too big for me but when I picked up my new phone sunday, I tried on the display watches and I’m really unsure which series 8 size I would get. I think I could go either size and now i really think i could go either size just because my wrist is bigger than yours.
I have a 6 inch wrist as well. The 41mm actually emphasizes my modest wrist measurements, whilst the 45mm feels more masculine. So I’m going to buy a 45mm. I’m probably going to try the Midnight aluminum and buy the graphite Milanese strap for formal wear.
My wrist is 17,5cm and im tall woman, chubby. I still prefer the 41mm, tried in past 44mm and it was really uncomfy for me. Just want to say its not too much about wrist size.. but about preferences and beign comfy for anyone. I got my 41mm series red 8 and im happy.
Great video, I had a 41mm series 7 and after about 6 months sold it to get a 45 mm and still look at the 45mm now and wonder if I made a mistake and that’s not as much to do with the height but width wise it’s more noticeable ! Still love both sizes tbh but the new size 41 display is a lot better then old display 40mm up to series 6 ones !
I got the 41mm since I have a very very small wrist (5.3"). It was a real hassle trying to find a band that would keep the watch snug on my wrist. The sport band that came with the watch had to be cinched in at the very tightest hole and that left a huge end sticking out. Couldn't use it. Apple needs to up its game in terms of cool and small and very small bands. Love the watch though. Thanks, CJ.
Good review. Thanks! 41mm for sure now. Big guy, small wrists. Upgrading to 8 from a 2!!! that lasted FOREVER. OS no longer supported. The old 42mm with simple band was very lightweight. Midnight on midnight. Hardly noticed it. Looked at the offerings all the way up to Ultra for size and weight. Going right back to 41 with lightweight band. Will disappear on wrist. No statement. Can still play Pickleball with the watch on. Coming back from Pandemic appreciating low profile for many reasons.
I’m still up I’m the air, I have about a 7inch wrist. I was gifted a 38mm series 3 that is just way too small! I only wear it for sleep tracking and workouts. I want something I can wear for everyday use. I don’t live close enough to an Apple Store to go try on different sizes so I might just go for the 45mm. I think it looks fine on your size wrist and I’m not much bigger. One thing I’ve noticed about bigger watches too is that even if it looks almost too big from your perspective, it looks normal from someone else’s, or if you catch yourself in the mirror or a photo. I just don’t want to look like a kid wearing an adult sized watch lol, so I will return it for the 41mm if I feel that way. Thanks for the detailed vid!
@@v_a_n_e I ended up going with the 41mm, I think it’s perfect for my wrist, although I’m sure 45mm would have been okay too but It’s definitely way better than the tiny 38mm lol
Moving from my 15 year Fitbit Ionic to the Apple watch series 8. Still trying to figure it all out. I just don't want to scar the Apple watch all up. The Fitbit could really take a beating. So stainless steel or aluminum for durability? Thanks for the info
41 looks better on you. I’m still deciding for me. Going from a series 3 watch this is a big step. Love your style on this review. Fun and easy to watch.
I bought the Apple Watch ultra and I absolutely love it. It’s a very tough watch and it charges very quickly! The faces are also very sharp and are easy to see in the sunlight.
I still find it too hard to choose. I ended up with a 45 mm stainless steel for work purposes, same leather band as you have as it looks really nice. I have the 41 mm for recreational and weekend use as well as wear it at night for sleep tracking. 😂
The Sport band is THE classic look of the Apple Watch. One of the best designs, modern, resistant... It can be used with formal or informal attire and the variety of colours through the years has been staggering
It’s a toss up, they both look great, although your wrist is small, because you’re a guy, the 45mm can still be pulled off without looking too big. For everyday wear you’re good either way, if you planned to wear this in a more formal environment often, then the 41mm would be best, maybe with that leather strap. The strap also looks great on the aluminum version(but the stainless steel is looking 🔥 with it) Now I will say, if you’re getting the Ultra, that 49mm case may be over the top for your wrist size. I too have a 6 inch wrist, so the Ultra is completely off limits for me until they drop it down to a 41mm in the future. Nice video!
Great review! If you look at it as a computer/iPhone on your wrist, then normal aesthetic considerations are less of a concern, as per a traditional classic watch - which simply tells the time and looks like a very desirable piece of jewellery. And looks best appropriately sized to your wrist. Whereas, with an Apple Watch, the biggest one you can tolerate visually on your wrist, will give you the best battery life and easiest to use as regards size of text, ease of finger swiping etc. Given that, the aesthetic concerns with a big watch weigh less, than functional aspects of use to my mind. And when it comes to formal/dressy situations, a traditional watch for ½ the price will still look better in that role, than any Apple/Digital Watch - which arguably look best in smart/casual roles with the sport loops.
This! Thanks! :) Exactly what you said. Probably that's the reason why my wife, who has small wrists, doesn't want to return the 45mm that she received from me, or even try on the 41mm in a store, because she's totally happy with the large digital beast on her wrist. :)
My wrist is also on the smaller side at 6 inches but I ended up going with the 45mm Apple Watch Series 8. I don’t have the best eyesight so the larger screen makes it way more visually pleasing. I dig that magnetic watch band as I’ll probably order a few of those! Great review CJ! 👍🏼⌚️
My Rolex submariner stopped working and I know it’s gonna cost more than a series 8 just to maintenance and repair ($500-$2,500). So I’m used to really bulky and heavy watches. Someone mentioned the lugs make normal watches bigger…that’s very true. The dial might be 45mm, but the lugs extend out further. I think I’ll go with 45mm on the series 8 if I get it. My wife has the smaller series 5. I’ll have to upgrade her too if I get one. A lot of jewelers tell me girls like bigger watches verses the tiny woman’s watches nowadays, and I think the 45mm would look good on her wrist too from a watch enthusiast man’s opinion. I think it stands out more from the older cheaper models too than the smaller version.
Awesome informative video! Loved it! My wrist size is 6 inches also, so this was perfect for me to compare. I liked how you did the different bands also from sport to swanky. For me, both looked great on your wrist. Thanks for the review!
Super helpful, thank you for this! I have about 5.5in wrists so it was great to see the comparison with the two sizes. I’m definitely going for the 41 if I get one at all. Both looked cool for you, just depends on the look you’re going for.
I see a lot of men claim their masculinity is threatened if they wear the small watch, even if they have small wrists and the large watch looks ridiculous. 😂 The regular sport band is uncomfortable, and I watch a blog where the guys snorkel in rivers, streams, lakes to find treasure. They come up with tons of lost Apple Watches, all with sport bands. Not sure if people secure them incorrectly or not, but they pop open when one jumps into water.
Great video, and your personality makes it even better! I just bought a 41mm, and it's my first Apple watch. I have a small wrist. After having watched this, I think I made the right decision. BOOM! LOL
Hey great video very helpful. My husband just gifted me a series 8 midnight 45mm, im so petite with small wrists so i was kinda thinking that this 45mm is a bit too big for me, im getting use to it tho. 45mm looks better on you it looks just right and elegant. Thanks for your input!
Same story here except I'm the husband who gave the starlight 45mm to my petite wife. After 2 days she's in love with it (and probably with me too) and she doesn't even want to check out or try on a 41mm in a store. I must say though the 45mm looks defnitely too big on her, but maybe it doesn't matter these days. Do you still like and wear your 45mm?
Thanks for the video. Was having a very hard time to try to figure the right Apple Watch to buy for my mother. Was concern that the 40 inch Series 8 was too small for her to see the fonts and apps. My aim was something easy for her to use so she would use often and lightweight. So went with the aluminum silver 40 inch series 8 with a white wrist band which I believe looks amazing. Only concern with this setup is that heard that white is easy to see any stain or dirt.
I’m so glad I found your videos! I appreciate the effort you’ve put out to making such crisp and clear comparisons (visually too!) and your attention to detail. Thank you!!!
Yeah. This is such a great review. I seriously like how you elaborate on every subject and don't just jump to something else entirely. Very calming and very clear. Thanks! I'm not upgrading my iPhone this year. Personally I find the difference between the 13 Pro and the 14 Pro too small to spend the cash on. In stead, I'll upgrade my Apple Watch SE to an Apple Watch Series 8 (45mm). Definitely still deciding on the color :)
Great video thank you! I went for the 41mm as it’s my first smart watch and I’m very active so the smaller the better in terms of knocking into things. Undoubtably would enjoy the 45mm more but for practical reasons I want to wear the watch
My wrist is about 6-3/4 but I was so terrified of the 45mm being too large and was set on the 41---until I went to Best Buy the other day and tried on both sizes. Totally changed my mind. It was big, but not gaudy big. I can still see about 1/4 of my wrist top and bottom. And actually, the 45 is only 1/16" taller than the 41 which is nothing when you're looking at display models sitting there, but was a big difference appearance-wise when on my wrist. The 41 just looked too small.
I have a small wrist also. They both look good, however, I like the way the 45mm looks on your wrist. I upgraded from the series 6 41mm aluminum to the series 8 45mm aluminum midnight black. I’m excited to get it tomorrow. Great video! New subscriber too!! ❤
I think that you have very masculine hands/arms so the 45 def looks great on you (esp in that set up) but as a woman, I would prefer the 41 but my aging eyesight may tend to disagree! 😝
When I was a kid I always longed for a calculator watch but could not afford to buy one but now that I’m a grown adult who can afford an iwatch, I’m definitely going to compensate myself with one🙏
Nice review thanks, was very useful to see the size difference between the 2 and has helped my mind up. The 45 looks better to me, looks much better on your wrist than the 41.

I’ll be giving my series 5 to my 13 year old son since his wrists are larger than mine.
Usually the younger ones give their old stuff to the older people hahah
got the 41mm and my wrists is slightly bigger than yours and i was wondering if i made a mistake and i come to realize that 41mm is just perfect! no need for a bigger bulkier display.
I love my watch and it works for me.
i think the 41mm looks best. i have a 6" wrist too and ordered the 41mm. now i want that orange loop! ty for this video!
I like the 45 on you. It fits nicely, and big as you can handle is best when talking digital displays. My wrist is 5.5, so I think I have to go with a 41. Maybe I should get a 45 and put it on my upper arm lol.
I have a tremor so the larger 45mm display works on my small 6 1/4 “ wrist
I'm team 45mm, CJ! I also think 🤔 that's the one you should rock. Keep up the great work 👍🏿 and be blessed!
I just bought the 41mm. I also like the 41mm on your small wrist.
45mm for me, I am getting old now and have to wear readers. I will be getting the Ultra, but it won’t be delivered for about 4 more weeks.
Right. I’m waiting on my Ultra too
I got a 6 inch wrist bought the ultra I don’t mind carrying a cellphone on my wrist
😂 my ultra is on the way
Thanks for the comparison.
I have a small wrist and I have the 45mm 6 watch and getting the 45mm 8 watch. Love the bigger display and I can see it without my glasses 😂
Right 😂
My wrist is 17,5cm and im tall woman, chubby. I still prefer the 41mm, tried in past 44mm and it was really uncomfy for me. Just want to say its not too much about wrist size.. but about preferences and beign comfy for anyone. I got my 41mm series red 8 and im happy.
41 looks MUCH better on your wrists IMO
Great video, I had a 41mm series 7 and after about 6 months sold it to get a 45 mm and still look at the 45mm now and wonder if I made a mistake and that’s not as much to do with the height but width wise it’s more noticeable ! Still love both sizes tbh but the new size 41 display is a lot better then old display 40mm up to series 6 ones !
how compare battery life 41mm to 45 mm ?
@@P.I.D.27 battery life better on 45 but it is the bigger watch ⌚️⌚️😉
I'm in the same boat! 😂 7inch and got a 38mm series 3! It's tiny indeed!! Did you end up with the 41 or 45??
@@v_a_n_e I ended up going with the 41mm, I think it’s perfect for my wrist, although I’m sure 45mm would have been okay too but It’s definitely way better than the tiny 38mm lol
Team 41mm! I have small wrists! Sweet video! The sport loop is sick!
I bought the 45mm on my 6 inch wrist. I value my sight more I guess & it looks really good.
Moving from my 15 year Fitbit Ionic to the Apple watch series 8. Still trying to figure it all out. I just don't want to scar the Apple watch all up. The Fitbit could really take a beating. So stainless steel or aluminum for durability? Thanks for the info
I’ll definitely choose the 41. On you though , I thought the 45 looked best.
Small wrists big **** 🤣. 41 all the way if your still have some sense of class However 41/43/45 options would be solid in the future series !
Great video thanks. Team 45mm here. Your enthusiasm is so contagious, I love it. Boom! 🙌😁
Thank You
41 looks better on you. I’m still deciding for me. Going from a series 3 watch this is a big step. Love your style on this review. Fun and easy to watch.
Yeah that’s a big upgrade and you should enjoy it. Thanks!
I bought the Apple Watch ultra and I absolutely love it. It’s a very tough watch and it charges very quickly! The faces are also very sharp and are easy to see in the sunlight.
Always find the right hole before you tuck.
I just picked up the series 8 45mm given that my wrist is is 191mm in total and the 45mm looks way better on my wrist then my old 41mm series 7
Nice! Glad you're happy with it
I still find it too hard to choose. I ended up with a 45 mm stainless steel for work purposes, same leather band as you have as it looks really nice. I have the 41 mm for recreational and weekend use as well as wear it at night for sleep tracking. 😂
Right😂
men cant wear 41mm that's why u have got the bigger one for work right . lol
Where can I get the leather band used in the video?
waste of money buying 2 but if you can afford it why not
41 is indeed more comfortable for wearing while sleeping isn't it?
I love the magnetic midnight leather wristband, it’s beautiful.
People should wear whatever makes them happy. A great review!
Exactly! Thanks
@@CJKnowsTECH I have tiny 152 mm wrists and I’m getting the ultra because .. I want to lol. Can’t wait for your review of it!
The Sport band is THE classic look of the Apple Watch. One of the best designs, modern, resistant... It can be used with formal or informal attire and the variety of colours through the years has been staggering
Don’t be silly. No matter how you dress up an Apple Watch, there is nothing formal about it.
think I"m going with the 41mm
Nice video!
I’m a 6inch wrist guy too and went with the 45mm S7 a few months ago. I was going to wait for the S8 but couldn’t 😂
Understood
Nice! Thanks
do you know whats the name of his 45mm leather band? I found the umbra band on apple website but the color is way darker than his
My Rolex submariner stopped working and I know it’s gonna cost more than a series 8 just to maintenance and repair ($500-$2,500).
I'm so glad this was helpful...Thanks
Got 45mm my wrist is small too. Soon got used to it
Right
Thanks for the review. I'd pick 41mm for you. I'm seriously looking at this watch.
Super helpful, thank you for this! I have about 5.5in wrists so it was great to see the comparison with the two sizes. I’m definitely going for the 41 if I get one at all. Both looked cool for you, just depends on the look you’re going for.
Glad it was helpful!
IMO - The 41 looks better on your wrist.
Just bought the Series 8 45mm GPS, I have larger wrists so I think that'll be the one for me. Excited to check it out.
I see a lot of men claim their masculinity is threatened if they wear the small watch, even if they have small wrists and the large watch looks ridiculous. 😂
The regular sport band is uncomfortable, and I watch a blog where the guys snorkel in rivers, streams, lakes to find treasure. They come up with tons of lost Apple Watches, all with sport bands. Not sure if people secure them incorrectly or not, but they pop open when one jumps into water.
45mm for the win 🙌🏾🙌🏾
Do you still like and wear your 45mm?
i think that the smaller size looks more like a watch than like a tech gadget
Team 45mm and team stainless steel gold
Right🔥
Go big or go home lol no matter the wrist get the 45 💪🏽💪🏽😊
Between the 2 the 45mm is king, but I am a Apple Watch Ultra user so I am bias to the larger screens
I could wear either really. After comparing in store I went with 41 it just felt more comfortable for something I’ll be wearing 24/7
I think they both look good on you, but I would go with the 45. ☺️
where can I get that orange band for my own apple watch?
"Golden Brown" (link): geni.us/GldnBrwnLeatherBand
Thanks for the video. Was having a very hard time to try to figure the right Apple Watch to buy for my mother. Was concern that the 40 inch Series 8 was too small for her to see the fonts and apps. My aim was something easy for her to use so she would use often and lightweight.
So went with the aluminum silver 40 inch series 8 with a white wrist band which I believe looks amazing. Only concern with this setup is that heard that white is easy to see any stain or dirt.
No problem glad the video could help
40 inches?! Damn yo mamma’s watch is bigger than my TV
I have a 6 inch wrist and gone for the 41mm the 45mm look and feel to big.
Where did you get that orange watch band from? It looks amazing!
"Golden Brown" (link): geni.us/GldnBrwnLeatherBand
@@CJKnowsTECH Thank you! Definitely grabbing one!
I bought stainless steel 45mm and it’s good
I liked your info - but I liked, even more, your friendliness and glasses with the purple tinge in the glass! Stylin'!
Thank you
Team 41 mm stainless steel graphite ❤
Nice
I’m so glad I found your videos! I appreciate the effort you’ve put out to making such crisp and clear comparisons (visually too!) and your attention to detail. Thank you!!!
Thank You!
Totally prefer larger screen and larger watch. I’m male. The smaller one felt more like a woman’s watch.
My concern is, will a 45mm strap fit on a 41mm case?
Portland, JAMAICA in the Building!!!!!!!!
I dont like the silicone type straps. I find them slippery when i sweat. I prefer the fabric straps.
Great video thank you! I went for the 41mm as it’s my first smart watch and I’m very active so the smaller the better in terms of knocking into things. Undoubtably would enjoy the 45mm more but for practical reasons I want to wear the watch
Understood gotta get what works best for your use case. Glad it helped
What color is the 41mm band?
I had a s6 40 mm and going from that to the s8 is a huge difference for me
My wrist is about 6-3/4 but I was so terrified of the 45mm being too large and was set on the 41---until I went to Best Buy the other day and tried on both sizes.
Any updates is it too big for your wrist or a perfect fit
Is there diffetence o. 41 and 45 mm
What benefits does stainless steel have over allumium
I think that you have very masculine hands/arms so the 45 def looks great on you (esp in that set up) but as a woman, I would prefer the 41 but my aging eyesight may tend to disagree! 😝
😂
41mm . I just like how you show your Apple products .
Thanks
I just buy the bigger screen
When I was a kid I always longed for a calculator watch but could not afford to buy one but now that I’m a grown adult who can afford an iwatch, I’m definitely going to compensate myself with one🙏
Get the big aluminum one. And the sports loop. No brainer.
Great video, this is the exact comparison I was looking for 👌
Glad it helped
CJ, the 41mm looks best on your wrist.
Nice review thanks, was very useful to see the size difference between the 2 and has helped my mind up.
The 45 looks better to me, looks much better on your wrist than the 41.
No problem glad it helped
