I upgraded to the series 7 from the series 3 a couple months ago, and I haven’t regretted it once. I’ll probably use this watch until it dies on me just like I did with my series 3. @@zmanqx4 Hmm. It’s definitely hard to say in that situation then. If it’s for your wife, there’s definitely benefits to both. The series 8 like you already mentioned has the cycle tracking. I think most people upgraded to the series 7 since it introduced that beautiful screen and much faster charging. And because of that, in my opinion, there won’t be a lot of people upgrading to the 8.
I’m on the fence. Thinking of upgrading from 6 to 8. My 6 has a small scratch on the screen which bugs me. The 8 with apple care will provide me some peace of mind. My 6 battery health is down to 82 percent. I also went to use the 8 for sleep tracking.

Interesting. That’s where I am now, Apple Watch 4. Still works fine, battery life not terrible. I think if I upgraded I’d feel guilty for putting my Series 4 in a drawer, so thank you for your comment

Great video, as always! ❤ I will be upgrading from series 4 to 8! Looking forward to the always on display and all the new sensors and health features.😊
Great comparison video with nice explanations of whether or not to upgrade based on other models! I’m upgrading from a 4 to the Ultra, but I really wish that they offered a dark titanium and didn’t include orange on the buttons so that it’s a little more discreet. I’ll have to keep my SS Series 4 to wear to business and formal events because I think it’ll definitely clash with a suit or dress shirt.
I have the Apple Watch 5 in stainless..got it when it came out in 2019. Im strongly considering the 8 in stainless. The only thing holding me back is that the one i have is rose gold and there is no rose gold option in the 8. I would love to have a bigger screen since i do use it to text when I am working…. But that is the only reason. I may wait until the 9 and pray for rose gold 😊
I upgraded from series 4 to stainless steel series 8 since I wanted a elegant watch and im happy with my decision of picking up the graphite so happy with the finish of the product
Actually the old SE has one advantage over the Series 5. Because it came alongside the Series 6 it also supports the new running features which are not supported on Series 5 and older. Just because of those running features I’m upgrading now from Series 4 to Series 7 and I didn’t want to ditch my Series 4 until my first run with watchOS 9.
Yes I wish he went a little more in depth with the SE comparison, however one of the reasons I like his reviews is a short sweet and doesn’t get lost in the weeds.
Another reason to update is the battery health. How long can you reasonably use a single watch before it becomes too short in the battery department? I've had Series 5 GPS for over 2 years now. Battery health is now at 85%, which is above the guaranteed minimum. However, with the always on display it hardly manages to last an entire day for me. A 16h day in most cases. If it's 3 years old, I imagine this will be far worse. As to what version to buy, to me the aluminum has a huge drawback. It scratches way too easily for a watch. One cannot save the watch so well as the phone. It touches many surfaces by accident, and many of those instances result in scratches on the screen and the case. Wearing a case or a screen protector is an option only in theory. In practice, I've tried 5 or 6 types and they all suck in their own way. There are those that impair visibility, destroy touch response, gather dirt underneath, peel off too quickly, make the watch too bulky or nearly all of the above at once. So, the stainless steel version is the way to go because it has some sort of a sapphire screen, which survives everyday use much better. But the battery issue remains. How long can one use a single watch without getting annoyed by the battery shortage?
Not sure if I’m upgrading yet, my Apple Watch series 2 is still chugging along and does most of what I need to. The improved speed over the years, and improved battery does look very appealing though
I just got an S4 for my 18th birthday from my aunt, she bought it for herself on its release and literally worn it ONCE, watch was in its box for over 3 years she even forgot about it, because she was too lazy to figure out how to use it properly... I won't be switching to anything newer soon, it is perfect for my needs
I actually think it’s nice but when you realise on comparison with series 7 nothing changed and it isn’t worth 539 that it costs here in Ireland. I wish the price range was around 450 here. But that addition 80 euro can give you the newest model (for names sake I think)
I have Apple Watch Series 5, and I really wanted to upgrade my Apple Watch this year, but unfortunately. Nothing is new with Apple Watch Series 8, and Apple Watch Ultra is just too BIG! I will buy the Apple Watch of the next year
I am upgrading from series 4 to Ultra. S4 still works good and shows 86% battery health. But I own them 4 years already and would like to try something new. No reasons for upgrade as s4 fits my needs. 🙂
I would like to upgrade from series 6 to series 8 for diving, for a bigger screen and for crash detection, but from what I saw in your video, it's not really worth it. I only use the watch for notifications and occasionally for fitness
I've had a Series 3 since the Series 4 came out. I only use it to track walking distance and tell time. I keep the bluetooth off, and turn it off completely when I don't need it. It's still at 100% battery health. However, it has been a bit clunky and the workout app crashes the first time I launch it without fail. The only time it doesn't happen is when I give it two minutes to connect with Bluetooth. Since it has a scratch on the back, Apple says it's "ready for recycle." My whole intent is to use my watch as little as possible. Quite honestly, I simply don't need an upgrade. I'm saving for other things that will make a significant difference in the future. (e.g. M2 pro macbook).
I don’t think I’ll upgrade from my series 4 Apple Watch since it’s my first Apple Watch and I haven’t had mine for that long. Plus, the health and fitness features is enough for me and gives me what I need; Also, watchOS 9 gives my Watch some features that the newer Apple Watches get. So for now I’m not upgrading.
You mentioned that if you just use it for notifications and have a 3, it might not be worth updating - I have a 3, and when I picked up my iPhone 14 today they told me that the 3 will no longer interact with my phone (because the 3 is no longer being pushed OS updates, and the most recent OS on the 3 is not compatible with iOS 16). Worth considering if anyone else in the comments is still rocking a 3 after all this time.
As always, excellent videos. The pace and the information is very digestible and informative. I really enjoy them and look forward to new installments 😊
I upgraded to the series 8 from the original series. I went 7 years before the battery finally gave up. Since my original was a daily use item for me the entire watch was battered and worn with a crack across the upper part of the crystal be it just kept on working so I never did anything but kept using it. I did do one thing and that is aluminum GPS only as I always have my iPhone nearby so I saw no sense in wasting $120.00 a year for the cell model in addition to the extra $100.00 for the watch.
Thank you for the comparison, it was very informative. I am currently using wifi only series 4 and will be upgrading to series 8. Can anyone tell me what are the advantages of going to cellular unit ?
I have a series 6 with cellular, and I love it. Cellular lets me be active without having to drag along my phone. For my needs, convenience is worth the extra cost.
Great video! I'm looking to upgrade from S3 and using it mostly for fitness and health. Initially I wanted to get S8. But the only noticeable difference with 7 for me are temperature sensor and car crash detection. Is it worth few more bucks than 7? Not really sure
One benefit besides what’s advertised is that it’ll be able to utilise the latest software for an additional year in comparison to the series 7. Something to consider if you’re planning on keeping this long term.
from series 6 to 8 mostly because of the fast charging..I don't like how slow it is to charge on the 6. also for sleep tracking as that's something I'm into and the more details the merrier. and i also need it cellular as the current one i have isn't. so 3 reasons to upgrade really. I only wished they had done something more with the overall design
@Austin Wilhelm I did. The quicker charging was important for me and I'm really appreciating it especially in moments of need. And I got to like to see the sleeping phases as well.
A really coherent comparison of the Apple watch models - without an agenda. Still undecided about upgrading from 5 to 7 given the apps I use. Thank you!
Got the original SE about a month ago, not long before the announcement. I'd love an upgrade, but I really can't justify it. I'm not missing out on ANYTHING I actually care about from the S7 or S8. An on screen keyboard would be cool, and slimmer bezels look nice, but no useful fitness features would be gained by switching to a S8. The ultra is very cool, but i'll probably wait til next year to upgrade. See if they come out with anything monumentally life changing.
something tells me the next Gen Ultra will have more colors and itll be much better overall. So im waiting to see what they come up with as Im wanting an apple watch thatll last me at least 2-3 days.
@@Peter_File69 absolute best thing the apple watch has. Its a must have tbh. the auto on off from raising it can be finicky at times, so you are sitting there raising and lowering to get it to turn on. Always on display gets rid of that problem.

Just pulled the trigger on series 8. Upgrading from series 5. Series 5 was fine but I workout much more and want the running help and the better cell. Plus my battery life is trash and I’d like to wear to sleep.
I have a series 3 and still on the fence because all I use my watch for is notifications like work emails and when my phone is ringing. Also use it to FF songs from spotify. So not sure if I want to take the plunge.

im planning to get a series 8 as my first apple watch. Is it worth it so far?
@@poknut69 for your first Apple Watch it is definitely worth it.
I will buy the Apple Watch of the next year
Bigger is better. You’re missing out lol
The Series 8 has the Blood Oxygen level and also body temperature etc so a few extra features including better battery.
I am upgrading from series 4 to Ultra. S4 still works good and shows 86% battery health. But I own them 4 years already and would like to try something new. No reasons for upgrade as s4 fits my needs. 🙂
Picked up my first Apple Watch today. Chose the Series 8 due to my Fitbit constantly getting disconnected from bluetooth🎃It’s nice so far.
Still using the Series 2 today. Now ordered Apple Watch Ultra :D
I have a series 4 and use it as a watch for checking the time, notifications, sport a lot and the odd game when I’m bored. Do I upgrade or wait?
Does the Series 8 include a CGM? Seems no one is mentioning that functionality which had been seen as a big deal, esp. for diabetics.
You should probably upgrade next year if the series 4 is unsupported
I might upgrade my Apple Watch SE First Gen that I got in 2020 to a refurbished series 7
I cant speak to the 14, but I have the S3 watch v8.7.1 that works with my 13ProMax running iOS16.
That said, I’ll probably get the S8 cellular.
My series 5 is still doing well, I’ll consider upgrading sometime next year.
As always, excellent videos. The pace and the information is very digestible and informative. I really enjoy them and look forward to new installments 😊
I am so confused 😆 I want to upgrade and I want the series 8 but then if the series 7 is so similar to the 8, might as well get the 7??? 🤔
Does the series 8 inherit the “more rounded design” from the 7, or has it gone back to similar to the 6 just larger???
I plan on going from a 5 to ultra but I’m waiting to see in person to make final decision.
Super good video. It answers all questions one may have when deciding to buy an Apple Watch. It would be my first. Super!! Thank you
I'm on series 5 and honestly don't see any reason to upgrade. Maybe series 9 will bring a different shape or something. Let's hope.
I’m considering the ultra from the series 5 I just wish they offered it in different colors
I don't have an apple watch. Which one should i get? Thinking between 7 and 8
And what if you haven’t Apple Watch is it better to buy the SE and then upgrade when an Apple Watch with an bigger upgrade come out?
I just upgraded from a series 3 to a series 8. Great video, thanks!
Thank you for the comparison, it was very informative. I am currently using wifi only series 4 and will be upgrading to series 8. Can anyone tell me what are the advantages of going to cellular unit ?
Basically if you have a cellular one you can use it as a phone if you leave your phone behind or dont have it on you.
I think series 4 or later should upgrade to series 8. Saw one in person today and the screen honestly does seem brighter
from series 6 to 8 mostly because of the fast charging..I don't like how slow it is to charge on the 6. also for sleep tracking as that's something I'm into and the more details the merrier. and i also need it cellular as the current one i have isn't. so 3 reasons to upgrade really. I only wished they had done something more with the overall design
@Austin Wilhelm I did. The quicker charging was important for me and I'm really appreciating it especially in moments of need. And I got to like to see the sleeping phases as well.
I have a series 5. Should I get the 8? I was gunna wait for the 10 but I know I won’t pay full pruce
Great comparison. I'm upgrading from nothing but looking to buy a used watch and had no idea of the differences, so thank you
A really coherent comparison of the Apple watch models - without an agenda. Still undecided about upgrading from 5 to 7 given the apps I use. Thank you!
I’m still sticking with my Series 4.
I have a series 6 now and im not sure if its worth upgrading yet to the 8 or waiting. I use it mostly for fitness
So im waiting to see what they come up with as Im wanting an apple watch thatll last me at least 2-3 days.
what are your opinions on always on display?
@@Peter_File69 absolute best thing the apple watch has. Its a must have tbh. the auto on off from raising it can be finicky at times, so you are sitting there raising and lowering to get it to turn on.
Always on display gets rid of that problem.
@@aquifer98 if i need an apple watch for fitness and stuff, and i want always on, and wouldn’t want to spend much, which would be the best?
@@Peter_File69 Series 5/Series 6 if you dont care about faster charging or Oxygen level then those two.
imo Id just swallow the pill and get the 7 for the bigger screen/fast charging and better sensors for Health. Thats just what I would do though.
if you want a watch JUST for health/fitness Id recommend a fitbit over an apple watch.
but if you really prefer/want the apple watch then 5 or 6 depending on what youd personally like/need
hi I have a series 4 44mm do you think it is better to take s8 45mm? I run 5 times a week both outdoors and indoors. thanks great video
i have an apple watch series 1. I want to upgrade but don’t need series 8, which should i get?
My apple 4 screen is gone. Need new one but am unsure which series to go with. I use it mostly for calls messages maps gps and health.
I’ve series 4 now which model should i upgrade ?
My guy saving me so much money TY for actual information on what the series differ from each other
Just pulled the trigger on series 8.
I went from 4 to 8 and it’s no difference those new bells and whistles don’t excite me …like seriously.
The ONLY reason to upgrade would be the extended battery life. I love ❤ not having to carry my watch charger around anymore. Xoxo
Why can’t series 5 have backtrack feature? 😢
A real upgrade for any Apple Watch user would be going Garmin. That's what I will do, from AWS5 to Garmin Fenix 7.
I have a series 3 and I’m trying to figure out if I upgrade for the Aw7 stainless steal or if I should go for the 8, and cellular or not… 🤔 Help! 😂
Great content Daniel!!.I really appreciate your efforts and commitment!.-Keep up the high quality and amazing videos!.
I'm upgrading from a series 4 to a series 8! I love my series 4 but I got it back in 2018 and I think after 4 years it had its time. So excited to receive my new series 8!
Currently have the series 4, upgrading to the 8
Which one should i buy?
What about first-time users who haven’t had any smartwatch yet?
Should beginners buy Series 8 or the older Series 7 ?
series 7 (unless you are female and currently having periods)
I boughthe SE2 yesterday and it’s my first one. Don’t need the other features. Only “sad” thing is I don’t have the keyboard and fast charging. Other than that, i’m good!
i dont have an apple watch and never had one. im planning on buying the se 2 very soon. should i?
Great, well done video showing comparisons from Series 4 through 8, SE, and Ultra 👌🏻
Do you use cellular or GPS only version?
should i get SE2 or is it totally nonsense to get? only always-on feature doubts me. i think i would want that feature.
Last month I bought the series 7 and I’m not regretting it
Well that was a waste, everyone should know you don’t buy a new device the month before new ones come out
My S4 is holding on dearly, a lot of physical wear and battery sitting at 80% - won't swap it out yet but it's getting tedious charging it 2-3 times a day and dealing with software hickups
4:04 more like series 4 with a compass and no ECG
I never had apple watch. Im thinking to buy one to go run with. Which watch should I go for? I was thinking about series 7. what do you think guys?
Thinking about upgrading from the series 3
Do it. The S3 isn’t getting watchOS 9
I’m upgrading my series 6 to an 8, still the larger watch face, excited for a new band. My first watch purchase, I was disappointed we couldn’t choose our band, so I’m glad Apple rethought that
I’m probably upgrading from a 5 to the 8. This video definitely helped me with my decision!
I am rocking the Series 2 should i uprade? (SARCASM)
What do you mean by improved Sleep tracking on Series 8? I think I have that too on my Series 5
I don't have an apple watch yet, which means there's nothing I'm upgrading from. Which apple watch should I get?
