Today I am going to talk about my long-term experience using the Apple Watch SE 2. Coming in at $249 / £259, the SE 2 is Apple’s entry level Apple Watch and if you’re interested in upgrading your Apple Watch or buying your first Apple Watch, this video will cover everything you need to know about the SE 2. My spec: GPS only, 41mm, SE 2, in Midnight price $249 / £259. GPS vs cellular. 40mm size on my 155mm wrist. Chose Midnight colour, works in both formal and casual settings. Paired with the sports band, great first band, comfortable and durable. In terms of design, SE 1 vs SE 2 are mostly the same. Now comes in Midnight vs Space Grey. SE 2 has held up well, no scratches or fading, remains waterproof (rainproof). Let’s look at display. Square with rounded corners. Crack resistant but does scratch. Normal daily use already scratches, recommend screen protector. Aside from that, the display is sharp and OLED with excellent auto brightness. But no always-on (only Series 8). Overall excellent display. Performance. New S8 chip. Same as series 8. Noticeably faster than SE1 and brings longevity. S8 chip in SE 2 5-6 years of software support. S5 chip in SE 1 only 2-3 years of software support. In terms of battery life, like SE 1 and Series 8 , SE 2 lasts all day. 25% end of day. How you setup your watch is key. I have an extensive Apple Watch guide, that shows how I setup my Watch to get the most out of features and battery life. But to give you an idea: notifications, background app refresh and Siri. Also adds low power mode. SE 2 no fast charging like Series 8. Still charges fast enough. I charge in the morning 25% to 80% (45 min). My favourite Apple Watch features. Notifications on the wrist. Apple cross-device integration, SE 2 takes this further. Unlock my Mac. Adjust volume of my headphones. Ping my iPhone. Siri is great too. In London, use Apple Pay everyday. Maps too (turn by turn directions). New safety feature, Crash detection. Activity rings, 3 rings, gamifies activity. Who is the Apple Watch SE 2 for? Perfect first Apple Watch. Offers core Apple Watch features at a compelling price, that will last for years to come. After 4 moths of use, I can say the Apple Watch SE 2 is fantastic watch that I highly recommend!

I got the SE2 several months ago. My first Apple Watch. Didn't realize what I was missing. The activity rings and exercise tracking is what I definitely use the most. Been a game changer for me, especially now that I'm well over the hill approaching 43 years old.
+1
You're nowhere near over the hill. You're still young and vibrant. I still feel great at 55!
Good to hear, I am less than half of that :)
Hi Chris, these watches are excellent tools to support a better life style!
@@DionMedia Nobody needs to hear that. 🤣
Bought an SE 2 from a private seller for $250 US and being my first Apple Watch
I just love it
It actually restrain my need to grab my iPhone more often especially while I’m working
Thank you for these reviews. Thanks to a previous video I chose the SE2 over the SE1 and I am very happy I did.
I went from an SE to SE2, and it’s definitely an upgrade. Best is battery life but I also love how the screen area is bigger and the shape is more smooth. Unless you need an EKG or AOD, it’s the perfect watch at a really nice price. I got the Succulent band but do also have darker bands to swap out. Thank you for your thoughts as always!
from the se to se2?? the screen and battery life is exactly the same…
@@evergIow maybe they used the se 1 for a while and the battery health got worse? Idk though it should’ve been similar
@@jackysbin3860 I have the first gen SE. I had it since it came out, and the battery life sucks. I wish they had low power mode way earlier on the SE but I have to hurry and upgrade soon because my battery is getting worse.
@@adriannanorwood i bought a used SE 1 4 days ago actually, arrived 2 days ago and though apple says up to 18 hours and the battery health on this thing is 89%, its definitely not living up to the standard.
i think it might be 18 hours with like light use but idk i dont see this thing making it past 10 or 11 without low battery mode
@@jackysbin3860Trust me, it won’t make it. I use my Apple Watch heavily, and right now the battery isn’t doing too hot. This was before they finally added low battery. I totally recommend using low battery even though the battery is 89%. It saves the battery but my watch goes to 10% in just 9 hours with very heavy use.
okay it’s surprising to see how many people bought the SE2 as their first watch. it’s my first Apple Watch too, I’ve been thinking of it for years because it’s way too expensive for a watch. I can finally afford it now. 💗
Enjoy it!
I got myself an Apple Watch after buying my wife one for Christmas, it’s been a life changer, make sure I close my rings everyday, feel much healthier!
Thanks for another honest review video
I got my SE 2 last week because of your first video recommendation for a first time Apple Watch user… Thanks! I’m enjoying it very much.
Hi Ariley, glad to hear that my video was helpful. Enjoy your SE 2, great choice
Your videos are incredible. I've had my SE2 44mm for a few weeks now and love watching your content.
Thank you Ben! Enjoy your SE2
Hey! Loved the video!! Thank you, for your time testing it. I do have one question, does this version has a keyboard?? Like to respond messages? or only predefined ones?
The SE2 44mm gps version apple watch is my first and I could say it's worth it as I am having a great experience using it
I am watching your video on my SE2. I got a “RUclips app” especially for this occasion! It’s a great smartwatch!
Just got my Se2 today and i love it ❤
Thank you so much for all your SE videos! It was so helpful with deciding which Apple Watch to get (I have a series 3 currently) I just ordered and SE 2nd gen and am very excited about it!!
Happy to help!
Thank you so much for this review, I never had an apple watch because i felt i didnt need it but for the new job i got i cant be checking my phone and in case of a emergency i think this watch will do just great
This review is so helpful for someone like me who recently got an iwatch SE2 ❤ Thanks Dion!
Hi Marjorie, glad it was helpful, thanks
Thank you for the information.
I put on a tempered glass protector not long after I got mine. It was one you recommended on another video (or very similar). Works great so far and makes me less stressed about any major scratches. Added bonus, the squarer shape of the cover, makes it look like an Ultra model 😎
HI Stuart, thanks for the feedback!
Which tempered glass are you using?
great information. Many thanks!
Dion, Outstanding video on Apple Watch SE 2. First time buyer and needed some questions answered and viola! This video was complete in all the questions I had.....thanks so much
Great to hear!
Just purchased my first apple watch ever and it’s the SE 2 thanks to this video. Dank u wel! Liked and subscribed. Cheers from Indonesia.
Warm regards from a chilly London to Indonesia. Enjoy the SE2 and many thanks for the like and subscription
Coming from a galaxy watch s22 and galaxy watch 4 to an iPhone 14 pro and possibly the Apple Watch SE 2. Really on the fence on whether or not I should splurge on the newer version or not
Thank you for the video. Very informative and very well made. Keep up the great work.
Thanks, will do!
i got the watch after pouring through your videos. thanks for the guidance. the SE version is more than enough for me
Glad I could help
Dion - have you found a portable charger for the SE2?
i just got my se 2 today 🎉😊
I have the same size... looks awesome!!!
I don't think the scratches on the screen is something that happens only to the SE 2 since it's the same display as on Series 8.
I was seriously considering the cellular Version until you mentioned it needed a separate data plan. Thanks you saved me some money.
Cellular is very cheap monthly add on like 10 to 15 dollar and you can share the same data plan and phone# as your regular phone but then turn your phone off and you can still use watch as a phone, welcome to the future!
@@steveeklund190215x24 since an apple watch lasts 2 years.. this can give you a new 2nd apple watch
I have used the third party sports bands from Amazon with great success.
Thank you, Dion, for another great review. I just started watching your channel recently and subscribed. Your style is growing on me. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for subscribing, appreciated! Glad you like my style. More videos to come, for sure!
I upgraded from the Series 2 to the SE2 same color and band. It’s been great.
The SE does a great job for $240 for me, workout tracker and sleep tracker. Money well spent.
Wow! I'm glad I saw someone wearing a watch in the right hand.. Like me!
Got mine yesterday. It’s been a great experience so far. Especially make and take call, Apple Pay and listening Music.
Great to hear!
The Mkeke iPhone tempered glass saved my iPhone 11 twice and they come with a clip-on jig that makes it impossible to put it on wrong. Always protect your Apple Screens with tempered-glass. It’s miles cheaper than replacing the phone when the actual screen breaks.
Great video! I was on the fence about finally getting an Apple Watch and you answered a lot of my questions.
Glad to hear it!
Have the Apple Milanese Loop magnetic band. It tends to come loose a lot which is not good after paying €100 euro for it.
Thank you so much! This video really helped me in my research of what watch to purchase!!
Glad I could help!
Happy with my SE2 purchase!!
Hi Ina, I am sure you will enjoy it!
First time user of the Apple Watch and I'm loving it. Paying became a breeze and is my favourite function. Unlocking my intel iMac and MacBook and even my 1Password manager is a close second. Furthermore, shopping cards scanning (3rd party app), sleep and of course sport tracking is great too. Last but not least notifications and simply checking the time / weather etc. All in all, a happy user! Oh and by the way, my Apple Watch lasts a day and a night and in the morning i still have between 50% and 60% battery left. Throwing it on the charger in the morning for an hour is more than enough to last another day. So battery life is good too!
What model do you have?
@@pauloarenas4956 it’s the SE 2022 version :-)
@@LarsHofman Thanks for replying!
@@LarsHofman I love the battery life too. The first SE didn’t last a day.
Thanks, I was trying to find out how long it would take to recharge as I am on the verge of getting one.
Excellent video, my friend! Very detailed and informative! Thank you so much!
Thanks for the compliment!
I am thinking of getting this watch...Have never been an apple watch owner...i am 58 and not very tech savy so i really appreciate your videos and instruction....thank you cheers from Canada
Good evening, I think that one can enjoy all this Watch brings without being tech savvy (a quality that is not related to age imho). When you buy it, enjoy it
Thanks so much! Didn’t know GPS version works with text messages. 😅
Great review a lot of content . Thanks
My pleasure and thank you for the feedback
Very nice, thank you! 👍🏾
What kind of band was that leather looking one? So nice
This video convinced me to get the Ultra. Thanks.
Thank you. I still have the 1st Apple watch and I use it mainly for my activity tracking.
Thanks Ron, good to hear. What about the support?
@@DionMedia No support left so will be looking to replace it very soon. 😊
This review help me to pick if I should get the Watch we 2 and I just ordered it 🎉 thanks so much for the amazing detail in you review and also love the style of the video I’m a new subscriber 🎉
Glad it was useful and thanks for subscribing!
Wonder if i should get se2 or wait till sep..in case new se watch will be launched
Thank you soo much for this detailed information on the watch good review🎉
Thanks and Happy Holidays!
SE is a great watch. Nice video dion.
Thanks Steven!!
I just got a 2nd hand SE (1st gen) and the battery health is still 100% and within 1 year warranty. I couldn't ask for more...I think it's the best option for considering that it's 50% lesser than the SE 2
sounds like a great deal
This was immensely helpful. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience with Apple Watch SE.
Should i wait for SE3?What is expected from that release in September?(prediction)
Moved from Android to Apple mostly because I wanted an Apple watch as they are known to be much more accurate than android equivalents. No regrets so far. Loving the apple ecosystem and 3 days into owning the SE 2, and couldn't be happier! Using mine mostly for fitness. Not sure what the 8 could offer that would ever sway me away from the SE range. It does everything I want and for a decent price! Great video
Enjoy your SE 2!
Hey Stuart, I am seriously confused about choosing se 2 or watch 8. As there tons of health features over se2. I am just looking at a watch for running predominantly
@@dankmeme8040 I haven't tried the watch 8 unfortunately so can't really give you the best advice. From my understanding, the 8 does have some additional monitoring features such as ECG and Temperature, however, the reviews I read mostly suggested that those are things you may only use once in a while, and the SE2 still has the core monitors that are most useful for everyday use. For running, the SE2 has been very accurate for me. I am happy with my SE2 so far, and I think the value for money is fantastic! If budget is no issue for you though, then maybe go with the series 8 for the slightly larger screen/extras. You will be happy with either IMO!
@@stuarthillier2156 Did you buy the cellular version?
Same, the android versions I tried 3 and all returned for overheating after 2 minutes on LTE cell calls, garbage! Now have Apple Watch 9 LTE, fantastic no need for cell phone and no over heating problems cutting off phone calls!
I got Apple watch Se2 as my first apple watch and i have a i phone 13 . I am very happy with my purchase and it is very satisfying to use and seamlessly compatible which is apple known for ❤😇
У меня тоже Айфон 13, и сегодня я купил apple watch se2, часы шикарные, и нет переплаты за ненужные датчики и функции такие как измерение кислорода
SE2 is my 1st AW, definitely in love with it!
Same i got the 40mm in midnight🥰
Same in 44
Got the 44mm with the Milanese bracelet. I could wear the 40 BUT couldn't get my hand through the bracelet.
Thanks for the review, Dion!
Hi Eduardo, thank you. All ok over there in Brazil? Preparing for carnaval ?
@@DionMedia everything is ok over here! Thanks for asking! People are starting to get ready for carnaval. I’m not a huge fan but people here are very fond of it! And how are things in London? All the best!
After nearly 20 years of Samsung phones and wearables I have decided to try something new. Apple it is, And this video helped a lot thankyou!
Enjoy the transfer (why by the way?) and glad my video helped
I don’t understand having always on display on a watch. I don’t need the screen on when I’m not looking at it. Just drains battery more I would think.
Hey dion,
I was wondering on your opinion on the iPhone 13 in 2023 and how it’s holding up. Do you recommend it still and how’s the Battery, display etc. I’ve watched your reviews and they’re great. Thanks 😊
Hi Daniel, quite well actually. Thanks for your compliments. And see this link. studio.ruclips.net/user/video0UkQM18PLYI/edit?c=UCSwv_kfe851-26n_Dg4xnAg
I have the iphone 13. It's really good and the battery life is amazing. Well worth it.
I’m unable to find Instagram notifications button on watch app. How can I get that option ? How can I get Instagram notifications on my SE2 watch
Got the SE2 44mm for Christmas, first time Apple Watch user this is beyond expectations, from iMessage, Answering Calls, Home integration, Sleep tracking and so on. Also, a great video as always!
Thank you and enjoy the SE2!
What a great review thank you I am researching them now and will be getting the SE I also didn’t know they have a screen protector which was a concern of mine
Glad I could help
And enjoy the watch when you get it!
I bought myself Apple Watch SE GPS model. I was little worried that i could have bought series 8 inztead but am really hsppy thati made right decision after watching your video … thanks for honest review video man 😊
My pleasure, enjoy your Apple Watch1
I like being phone less so a cellular smartwatch is much more convenient for me, and because I don’t like the bulk in my pockets so yeah basically a cellular plan for the Apple Watch to me personally is worth it.
Thanks for sharing your POV
I went into my local Apple Store thinking I’d be choosing the darker colour, but was unsure of the size. After trying out all the colours/sizes/models, I surprised myself because I preferred the lighter colour. I actually went for the Series 7 41 Nike. It’s my first Apple Watch, and I’ll hopefully be keeping it for a few years.
Enjoy!
And lighter colour will hold the colour better than the darker colours I think.
do you have smaller wrist? and do you think the display size is large enough for you after using it for these many months?
All right you convinced me
Did you get one?
Nice review. How did you get paint chip on the edge of your watch? Have you been abusing it? For comparison, I used the Amazfit GTS for 2 years straight (took off only when I showered & charged) and the case & screen are still ok. Too bad the watch finally RIP a couple weeks ago.
I do not abuse my watches :)
Thanks for this review. I have the same and am so happy. Sir, may I ask you what kind of protector is on your watch? Something tels me yours is good quality. Thanks.
HI, good question. I have done a video on this issue, but as I test also the durability of the watch I do not use a screen protector in order to be able to share the results with you
such a helpful film! :)
Thanks!
Nice video Dion!
Thanks Julien!
I got my SE(2) in silver yesterday afternoon from Target. I accidentally dropped my last Apple Watch SE on the floor in the bathroom. I put it on charge for overnight. I noticed a few cracks on the screen. Yikes!! I did used it a little bit. I kind of cut my finger a tiny bit on one of the cracks. I got it in a smaller size so that I still can used my watch bands towards it. I even have series 1 and 2 that I bought refurbished. They are just backup. I can’t get those updated as current Apple Watches.
Thanks for sharing and sorry to hear about the misfortune
Best Value watch ❤❤❤
I prefer the 44 or 45mm sizes, since I have to wear reading glasses now.
My Apple Watch was 7 yrs old. Today it fell and shattered 😮. So looked into this watch. I got the midnight black and the cost was $189 😊. It’s amazing watch. Absolutely love it. Definitely a upgrade from what I had.
Enjoy it!
My cousin has a Watch Ultra with his iPhone and was on the bus and lost his phone. It got stolen.. til payday two weeks later he was able to make calls and texts and he is a nurse so it was a life saver.
Just pointing out that type case scenario too.. if you can’t go without a phone ever.. maybe get a cellular Apple Watch.
Thanks this video really helped me. @ 3:36 you have a purple braided solo loop. Is that an Apple Original band or where can I get one?
Hi Stefan, is from Apple indeed, but not for sale anymore in this great color. Many people inquire after this band!
I was able to get my SE two for $179 on Black Friday!
We had to upgrade to an unlimited data plan which cost nine dollars extra a month. I think that’ll be great for peace of mind and not running out of minutes.
Also, I upgraded from iPhone 8 to an iPhone 14 on a special deal.
Thank you very much for the comment about the screen protector. I didn’t think about that. Good tip. Thank you very much.
My pleasure. enjoy your 14 and Happy Holidays
Little known fact. The processor is actually the same used in the 7 and 6 series. Tear downs show it’s the same part number across the lineup.
I was so bummed if I am going to get the cellular capable variant but thanks to you I'll also skip that since I always bring my phone with me.
I get where you are coming from, so in that case start from scratch and manually carry over files
lol you will be kicking yourself when you get a flat tire out in the middle of nowhere and your phone battery dead or forgot at home!
I like the loop
I actually got it as my 2nd Apple Watch. My friend had given me his 3rd gen and I upgraded to this and I love it. Don’t see any real reason to pay for a series 8 or whatever…
Enjoy!
I had the Apple Watch SE upgraded to SE 2 just cause found out it had crash detection so gave my old Watch to daughter
I’d recommend going with the cellular version if you’ve got extra cash to spare. I always go to the gym without my phone, just with Apple watch and Airpods. This frees my of hassle of finding a place to keep my phone as i move from one workout to another. Its freeing to be not carrying around a brick in my pocket or in my hand at the gym. In addition, even while I’m at work, i leave my phone at desk and go to meetings with only laptop and watch. My screen time as reduced significantly, more than half reduction in fact. So glad i went with the cellular version.
Thanks for sharing your pov!
Hi,
Does the non cellular track your run without having your phone with you?
Thank you
Hi Sudhan, yes it will stil track the data
I reckon Huawei GT 3 pro are finest smart watch current with 2 weeks battery life with everything on.
The only reason I got an SE 2 Apple Watch is it was only $5 a month extra on my plan so I figured why the hell not if I don’t like it oh well. Well honestly the little fucker is so useful when you don’t even think about it and keeps you away from actually using your phone for minimal tasks that lead to sessions of other social media and apps whereas the majority of the application on the watch are strictly for productivity and health
Still using the SE 1st gen and it's still good for me. Been waiting for the SE version to have an Always-On. Please Apple!
Can i bye 2023 Apple Watch se 1st gen??
I'm sure if you look around you can find a brand new series 1, but why would you want a new 3 year old watch?? You'd be buying something that's already outdated and isn't going to be updated for long. That would be like buying a new black and white TV...
I guess I hold a different perspective when it comes to getting the cellular vs the non-cellular. To me, it's like buying an "insurance" given the cost difference to be pretty small and of course, paying a small monthly fee to use the cellular service as well. As for why I look at it as buying an "insurance" is because during unexpected situations where you suddenly lost your phone, you can still remain contactable to your loved ones. Another use case scenario would be for runners and swimmers where it is inconvenient or your phone will be inaccessible when you are doing these activities. The cellular version gives you the opportunity to take calls, messages while your phone is lying inside the locker or at your home. Oh, and those occasions where your phone dies because you forgot or do not have a power bank around, your watch becomes your backup plan.
Hi Constance, thanks for sharing your point of view. Interesting and useful and might change some users to change!
With increased risk of thefts, size and weight of newer iPhones, I’m 50/50 on carrying my phone when out and about. Many times the Apple Watch is all I need.
@@DionMedia I was talking to a patient of mine who was wearing an Apple Watch since I'm thinking of getting one. She said that when her kid is a bit older, she's going to give him a watch with cellular as opposed to a phone, so they can be in contact with him, he can text and make phone calls, but he will not have access to social apps or google. So smart!
I am thinking of getting my first Apple Watch. Would the one with out cellular connect to the AirPod pro?
yes
I can’t believe people don’t put screen protectors on phones and watches. You can get a glass protector for that watch for like $7 dude! I know you got one but day 1 it should go on and helps resale value!
Not enough of an upgrade to justify trading in my series 4. Maybe I’ll upgrade to the 9 whenever it comes out.
@Dion_Schuddeboom. tell me more about this scam
Is there a way to add complications to your smartwatch that has its watch face set for multiple portraits (i.e., it selects from each of 24 photos, each time you turn your wrist)???
Hi Scott, sorry, I have not used this feature much so can not help you here.
First video that ive watched from ur channel and i noticed 2 things:
1. U said 2 different screen sizes a few times. First u said it had 41mm and then u said 40mm and then went back to 41mm.
2. u didnt "correct" urself in the video by adding a visual note that popped up when u were saying the wrong screen size - most do that in the editing process.
just a note for future vids if its something u wanna take into concideration.
But besides that, great video and it made me switch from wanting a series 7 to the se 2nd. I feel like the new features would obvi be an upgrade but what i can get from the series 7/8 compared to SE 2nd just might not be worth it - also taking in the difference that each model costs. Coming from the series 4 that is.
HI Seolyeon, thanks for the feedback, always appreciated!
I’m looking to get an Apple Watch, having finally moved to iPhone earlier this year. My current device is a Samsung Fit 2, and the rubber strap has now split in two places, how does the rubber strap on the Apple Watch hold up?
Hi, I have done no study into this, but I am not aware of specific problems
i like the way you explained about the SE2 it’s really helpful, now I’m really buying the SE2 👍
Enjoy it
