Which weapon do you think is most similar?
Don’t take this the wrong way but the shotguns you use at 6:15 are nothing alike. The MPS (Atchisson) AA-12 in XDefiant is not even made by the same company that makes the Tavor TS-12 in MW2/MW3. While yes they’re both fully automatic they have a completely different firing mechanism and magazine system making them impossible to compare to each other.
The first DMR that you do (MK20) is an FN SCAR (not 100% on which one) which would’ve been the Taq M from MW2 not the MTZ interceptor from MW3.
The guns you use for the M1911 are not even the same gun, but they are the same caliber (.45 ACP). The XDefiant is a actually a M1911 (whether or not it’s a traditional Colt 1911 or a Kimber is hard to tell for sure) and the gun used in COD, the P890, is actually based of the .45 APC variant of the Sig Sauer P220 (most common variant is a 9mm). The best comparison gun from COD to match the M1911 would be the 9mm Deamon (essentially a 2011 which is a 9mm variant of the .45 ACP 1911)
I don't agree with all of the ratings. For example I think P90 is more similar to COD than Vector.

@@sebastianherrmann4741 no it is an FN SCAR the SOCOM MK 20 has a AR-15 reminiscent receiver with the same type of charging handle as the AR-15 platform weapons system while the MK20 in XDefiant has it on the left side of the receiver in the exact same spot as the FN SCAR and if you look real closely it’s even the same type of charging handle
There’s only so many ways to tactically reload a weapon. I love Ready or Not’s weapon animations, similar to MW19.

Some of them almost seem like a carbon copy of CoD ones.

I miss the little detail from WaW where if you only fired a single shot from the double barrel, your guy would put his finger over the unused shell so it didn't fall out during reload.

While the animations take obvious inspiration from Modern Warfare, xDefiant in general reminds me a lot of Cold War with its colorful art style, movement, pacing, gun feel and longer TTK.

We are probably close to a plateau in regards to weapons animations, there's only so much you can do with it and still have practicall gameplay, most games today have a fairly decent animation work that follows the same overall guidelines.
Some detail I can geek about here:
Throughout FPS history, shotgun reloads require a loop animation to load each shell in. Usually the process is simple: Hand off-screen, hand with shell, load shell, hand moves away, repeat. This will lead to somewhat awkward moments where a character finishes loading but has to move their hand off-screen to reach for the pump/handguard as an end to the animation.
MW managed to make shotgun reloads more seamless by having each shell load loop end at the point where the shell is inserted rather than the hand being put away. Meaning that as soon as the last shell has been loaded in, thumb still in the loading port, the hand simply moves towards the pump rather than going off-screen and then towards the pump, making their reloads less awkward after the last shell.
XDefiant doesn't do the H&K slap on the MP5? Literally unplayable.
If anything, this video to me showed the detail that CoD went into with the common mistakes people make when reloading. Things Like just missing a mag well, or the delayed use of the ejection rod on the revolver. They both look like the went to the same reference material for the reloads and as many have already said, there is only so many ways to reload a gun.
It’s impossible that they didn’t have CoD running on an extra monitor when animating these reloads. This is like how teachers can tell when you copied someone’s homework. There’s just too many specific things that are similar.
Eh tbh this are really standard reloads. Though I would not deny that the MW series has definitely had an effect on the reload community
@@kingtitant5732 they’re holding the gun at the exact same angle and doing each action for the exact number of frames on a whole bunch of these. Factors that would undoubtedly be slightly different if done independently by an artist. Even the flick of their left thumb and position of their left index fingers are identical. These are things that would always be a little different every time someone keyframed these animations from scratch. Look at the left hand when cooking a grenade! lol. It’s pretty shameless. No hard feelings against the artists who worked on these. It was surely the producers and directors that instructed them to clone CoD animations.

Tbf to them mw19/2022 tried to use tactical reloads that would be used in the military. It would make sense that if both games used the same standards for reloading they’d both get a similar result.

I can understand for the AA-12, M1911 and TAC-50 to be based on handling more than appearance (and even then, the XRK Stalker might have been a better fit for the latter) but this one made me raise an eyebrow.
Because the weapon in Xdefiant is an SOCOM MK20 and the CoD weapon is an FN SCAR 17 S 😉
@@sebastianherrmann4741 I actually went to check before commenting and you are correct (hence "basically").
However they share the same SCAR "platform", unlike the MTZ Interceptor wich is based on a CZ Bren 2 with DMR configuration.
Since in this case both CoD weapons are actually converted batlle rifles, I maintain that it would make more sense to compare it to the TAQ-M.
I don't do this usually but commenting for the algorithm.
I think this video title is a banger and I want the algorithm to push this channel to a new audience.

when you look at the slow-mo of only XDefiant you think its alright, but the same animation is so superior in COD.
I mean weapon models clearly look better in CoD but considering XD runs on Snowdrop engine variant from Division 2 its kinda impressive how good they managed to get

Cod and Xdefiant are both shit and good in their own ways. We gamers just needed more competition in the “Cod-like” FPS industry, and hopefully this game will shake Activision and prompt to actually start trying in their games again. Competition always benefits us consumers. But anyhow, I won’t be surprised seeing this game loose hype fairly soon.
For the tac .50, you could use the "xrk" in cod...
Some of the guns you used to compare from MWIII are not the exact gun being portrayed in XDefiant; for example, your Mk 20 should've been the TAQ-M since they're both based on the SCAR Mk 20 Marksman rifle
XDefiant as a F2P shooter is doing a great job. Game looks good, gameplay is solid and the most important Shooting is very good.
the cod "tac 50" is actually the Remington MSR 2010, not a .50 Cal rifle like the tac 50 in XDefiant

I was enjoying xdefiant all week on my pc but today, Saturday, during double xp my game crashed a few times and my audio and guns disappear :/

A friend of mine was pretty hyped for this, but now after we played it that's gone.
It feels nice to play, but nothing more.
I don't see why one should play this longer than a few hours.

Did the person who worked on Sledgehammer's animation team went over to Xdefiant? They did mention they no longer work on CoD titles and the XD reloads look very similar.
Both of them are referencing T.REX ARMS' irl tactical reloads for the reload animations. It's gonna be bound to be similar no?
The new MWs are king when it comes to cool reloads, simply no contest
I want to start this off by saying the concept was great, and the editing was very well done.
However, the execution was terrible in the back half. Handguns, shotguns, the marskman rifle and the snipers aren't even the same guns half the time.
Maybe this can be revisited with the mythbusters or with a smaller redo now that practice zone is available and you can get some community feedback by people who know their guns

Xdefiant is the first game i've ever played that nails the COD smooth shooting that games have always been trying to replicate.
I agree but there’s still something off about it. It’s the first game since COD that I actually enjoy but somehow it still doesn’t feel like COD the guns feel more punchy in COD

@@Kanyethegoat365 yea for sure. It almost reminds me of BlackOps4 in the way guns and shooting feels. Even hit registration feels a lot like those later older titles
The reload animations I'm going to consider coincidence. There's only one way to reload these guns properly and the differences are in the small details like the angle of the gun and small timing beats so it's not a copy paste, just the same reference material. The recoil being identical is very very suspect.
Now I need Jonathan Ferguson, the keeper of firearms and artilery at the Royal's Armories in the UK, to review who did better.
I wish you could just provide this footage to GameSpot so the firearms expect could review it.
Also, despite me actually knowing which game is which regardless, stating that in the video would be better than just saying "Call of Duty".
It’s weird because technically the COD footage is a mixture of MW2 and MW3 guns, but it was all captured in MW3. COD is so weird now
@@defendthehouse I think the game title that you are currently playing is more important than from which the guns come from, as Sledges were also doing some adjustements to the MW2 guns to fit MW3..
So despite these guns being in MW2, I would just say "Call of Duty MW3", but we also gotta include the year so that it's not mistaken with the old cod mw3, so "Call of Duty: MW3 2023"... Damm COD is infact so weird now.
Weird video. It’s cool to compare the games animations. But it should probably have been between the guns they actually shared instead of choosing an over under shotgun vs the Double Barrel, the MX Gaurdian vs AA12, and the P890 vs the 1911. Like. Dude. There’s a 2011 in the game with the 9mm Daemon.

I hate how for the mp5 when they reload a partial mag where there should still be a round in the chamber. BOTH cod and Xdefiant cock the gun like theres no bullet in the chamber 😭😭
why does everything in xdefiant look like crap? The ak is missing the cover, the m16 has a wing nut and rubber bands holding the carry handle on. The mp7 has scribbles all over it, Mp5 look's like someone hurled it against a wall.
Because XDefiant is from a mishmash of Ubisoft titles. 2 of the titles currently it's taking inspiration from are games where you're literally a scavenger and a guerilla fighter without funding.
XDefiant multiplayer is much better for me than CoD.

Unless I’m dumb and missed them, XDefiant has no weapon inspect animations otherwise those would have been a big point of comparison.

Everything flows together in Call of Duty, whereas Xdefiant is clunky and slow af. Slide cancel doesn’t help at all.

Don’t let this standing still relapsing and shooting fool you. As a person who played XD If COD was still on black ops 2 it might be comparable. But they have a long way to go before they can call themselves equal.

Aim down sight settings: .75
Vertical&Horizontal settings : 20/20
Get use to that and build from there.
Those settings are similar to Cod or battlefield default settings. It will help a lot

Played XD, it’s mid. Fun for a few hours but balancing weapons+hero skills will be impossible and BP while on on a cheaper side I dont have tome to grind that shit. Solid F2P game but nothing more
I love xdefiant, but have mixxed feelings about cod mostly bad, but cod definitely looks better.
so are we just going to ignore that every handgun in xdefiant is completely static when shooting, the cocking thingy whatever its called is always in a not ready to fire position and theres no empty shells anywhere?
I mean, there's only so many ways you can reload the same gun. They also have to comply with the license of the gun manufacturer.

during the AK M4A1 reload it looked like that he puts empty mags into the gun in XDefiant.....

The gun you should have used for this is the "9MM Daemon" instead of the "P890" which is a SIG Sauer......

If XDefiant is in a situation that it is winning over cod, Cod must be doing TERRIBLE right now.
I mean they did just release a map pack and some half assed spec ops missions for $70 back in November.

Cod weapons look more "elegant"
XDefiant's reloads seem a lot more reserved, which I like. The CoD reloads are constantly slamming and hitting charge handles like they're stuck, while XD is moving them like a normal person. I also love the little detail on XDs M249 where the character checks to make sure the chamber is clear and nothing is blocking a new belt, it's a lot nicer looking than the CoD M249.

xd has everything being slammed and goes way too over the top. cod is just slow but significantly more polished
I give XDefiant like 3 months of life. It doesn’t actually do anything better than CoD, but it has a lot less content. It also will undoubtedly suffer from Ubigreed which is astonishingly even worse than Activision greed

@@j-niss Helldivers is a great game. Anyone who said that was coping. XDefiant is not a great game. 5 years of playtests and nothing has changed about this game at all.
It does so many things better than CoD. One of them is lack of SBMM on casual.
Another thing is that it's free, so whatever greed it is it's only cosmetic so what difference does it make in an arcade shooter.
Also, the anti-cheat is better.
