Helldivers 2 bet cod because it had an actual sense of coomunity and rewarded teamplay aswell as a great monetization system and artstyle
100% you could tell the game was made with passion
Dont forget iHD2 dont have a SBMM and EOMM system thats trash either. thats another big flaw of COD. I want COD to fail so they might actual make a good game for once in 8 year's
And yeah, I used to be a hard-core cod fan until I got into helldivers. 2, thank God helldivers 2 came into my life

Yup, I’ve spent over $100 in game and feel like I would have spent at least $500 on a hacktivision game. All about perceived value. I love HD2 and can see myself spending hundreds of hours on it. Also the devs deserve to be praised for what an amazing piece of content they’ve created.

Same here but it sucks when the new weapons you get are just horrible to use

Helldivers 2 has just a superb community. I just got carried by a level 50 veteran who likes RP and it was just so fun. Not even cringe, just pure fun.
100% fun
It's pretty funny to see AAA studios absolutely horrified that Larian and Arrowhead don't want to completely rinse their consumer base dry.
It’s hilarious
They’re horrified bc this means that the consumer knows what dirty tricks they do and not stuck with the same three companies
We ain’t horrified. We actually have an internal chat where almost 150 employees play helldivers on a daily basis XD

The fact that HD2 also has weekly updates, and actually fix issues in a timely manner puts all these massive AAA studios to shame
It really does
Well, "timely manner". Damage-over-time has been glitched for like a month. I imagine they're having trouble figuring out what's causing it.
Actually with today's tonedeaf patch from the developers, i retract the praise i give the game

*highly deserved like*
They denied the spread of democracy.. how dare they?
Activision have now been put on the anti-democracy watch list
Microsoft being the biggest one.
I personally think that those AAA devs are just jealous. And Helldivers one has been around for a loooong time.
Honesty, if Arrowhead ran out of budget for the game, they could just ask for donations from the community and I bet the community would support them wholeheartedly.
True. I love their thi Whole Joel Concept. like he i the main mastermind we are fighting against

i doubt they will, given they outsold their projections so hard they had to increase their server cap to accommodate the size of the playerbase.

For democracy we would 💪
Helldivers 2 is the only game that made me actually want to pay for their currency, to support their team and enhance my experience, even though I easily could have just played more and collected super credits. It felt less like a purchase and more like a donation.
I collected 1000 super credits simply by playing the game, which let me unlock Steeled Veterans, then I payed for the Cutting Edge warbond. Now that the latest warbond is out, I'm already halfway towards affording it, without spending a dime.
Such a refreshing concept
I've unlocked like 80% of all the premium content in Helldivers 2 by just FINDING credits in points of interests while playing the game. I don't even grind them like some do I just happen to find enough over time. It's so rewarding.

@@blanksilver3851 there is like a hundred Warhammer 40k games that came out that year. No idea which one you’re talking about.
Another great thing about HD2 is that even when you lose, you are still winning. Landing on a planet and getting wrecked immediately is still so much fun. Winning is fun. Losing is fun. Crushing the map in minutes is fun. Barely making it out with a mere few seconds out is fun. Playing with friends is fun. Playing with randoms is fun. Randomly getting squashed by a flying bile titan is fun. Getting launched like a football a hundred meters away is fun. Seeing people run into stratagems after warning them is fun. And there are so many ways to play and so many difficulties to choose from so everyone can have fun in their range. Everything builds on the fun and the moments and memes are everywhere. I don't remember ever have so many great memories of any game like this other than Age of Empires 2.
Don't worry Helldivers 2 is gonna disappear soon thanks to the genius at Sony and of course the greedy liars of Arrowhead.

January = lethal company
February = palworld
March = helldivers 2 & content warning
April = manor Lords
Every month this year is dominated by indie game
That kind of stuff happens when there's a major lul in the AAA industry. Around 2015 CoD had completely dropped off and BF1 hadn't released yet so the biggest DICE project, Battlefront 1, had some controversy.
Anyway that led to H1Z1 which originally sucked ass and wanted to make money in the first place, they became a BR, then PUBG, then Fortnite in 2017 to which the BR genre blew up. It's always up to the indie devs to renovate the gaming industry before the big dogs follow suit, someone else has to do it first.

Helldivers 2 is a call back to the early 2010s of gaming where companies prioritized a quality product not microtransactions. I still remember Halo Reach and the game flat out implying "screw you, play the game to get the credits to buy that armor piece you want. We aren't going to let you just BUY IT"
Absolutely how every game should be
And even before of that like L4D with the variety of enemies and friendly fire

Same exact passives as ones you unlock naturally playing the game. No pay to win. I enjoyed this process so much I actually upgraded to the Super Citizen edition BECAUSE I WANTED TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPERS!!
this is almost like tipping because you want to - not because you "have to"
That’s when you know you have a MASTERPIECE on your hands. When you spend money just because you appreciate the devs that much 🙌
Fucking exactly. If I had the money, I'd be planting some dollars into the dev's pockets too.
And you haven’t seen sunshine in two months. For us that spend time outside I don’t play enough to get the new stuff so I either have to spend money or have weapons that don’t work well.

One big thing everyone forgets, you can farm the MTX currency in Helldivers 2 and that pretty fast.

You know what's nice for Helldivers 2 as well?
You can play 1 game a day and still have so much fun.
I know right?! I can come home from work, play a round or two, and feel totally satisfied without feeling bored or like I'm grinding. A perfect balance.
I can confirm ^^^
Another key point:
By definition it doesn’t have a population of die-hard CoD fans in it, which immediately improves the experience massively.
Lol for sure
The cod community is the laughing stock of the gaming world.
Super cool deep dive into it. I basically never buy triple-A games anymore. They usually cost more, they call price-gouging people "innovation", and there's no soul. Everything is quite the opposite with Indie games
It’s the complete opposite
Anybody else notice that at 10:53 when the Helldiver steps on the Terminid's corpse, there is another Helldiver beneath it which raises their arm in protest to the extra weight?
Arrowhead communicates to the community, is realistic about their team size and ability to fix and release new content, gaslights users that the new flying enemies weren’t put in by them and “we don’t know what you’re talking about”. It’s amazing to watch passionate people get recognized and holy hell this game is a blast
It truly is a blast
@@lAMDEWAN what your video touches on is an interesting time period in gaming. We are seeing indie/AA studios putting out games that are knocking off the old guard in video gaming. It’s sad seeing how many developers and creators are getting laid off while their CEOs report record earnings but then we are seeing what smaller groups of focused people can do. The way Arrowhead puts it is perfect, “a game for everyone is a game for no one.” They knew what they were doing from the start and haven’t swayed from that expectation that they set on themselves.

I am hoping things change and people realize to start playing games that actually deserve attention and not ones from triple a studios that are soulless.
Another way to spot them is they complained HD2 is repetitive when they haven't actually play with different kinds of strategems and weapons which make the gameplay to be different. And these kinds of people probably only play the easy missions.

One thing I love about helldivers is the stress I feel whenever I get into a firefight, I mostly play against bots, I’ve found myself yelling at my own screen telling my squad mates to get into the fight more times than I can count, like seriously I genuinely feel every ounce of pressure whenever my squad is surrounded, like in cod for example, a tense situation would usually last less than a second at most about 5 before some dipass with a meta gun rails me and I end up just sighing and closing the game. But with helldivers it genuinely feels like every second matters, every single little decision you make could make the difference between a win or a loss and it’s fucking artistic in a way. Like in one mission I think it might’ve been either impossible or helldive difficulty and we ended up getting absolutely surrounded by about 4 titans, 20 crushers and god knows how many bugs, there was like a minute left before extraction and I was the last one left and I genuinely felt every second of that minute. Right in the last second all the bile titans ended up getting onto the extraction pad but I managed to dive into the pelican and we ended up extracting and if I saw I was happy It’d be a huge understatement, I straight slammed my chair and dancing like an idiot for like 3 minutes straight with my heart pounding like a drum.
Hell Divers 2 is the only game I have ever played where once you purchase a warbond (battle-pass) you get to keep it forever, there is no end dates or countdown timer or anything like that, you finish your warbonds at your own pace.

Yeah its pretty crazy
The era of gaming is really changing in recent years, if we look at the latest biggest successes which have really marked players, there are Among Us, Lethal Company and Helldivers 2, only independent games (especially Lethal company which was literally made by 1 person) People are starting to get fed up with the greed of big studios who only see profit in gaming, and not offering a product that they are proud to present to the public so that everyone has fun, and that's exactly why independent studios will really take a major place in the world of games in the future
It’s not even just call of duty players
I think helldivers does a good job of bridging the gap between many people who probably wouldn’t otherwise be playing together.
I never liked call of duty and I generally like more story driven games, but it’s one of the few games my step dad really plays.
Suffice to say we didn’t really play together much until helldivers 2 came out and it’s honestly genuinely fun to play something with him we both love.
Completely right. Everyone of all different tastes are joining the Helldivers. It’s a genuinely fun game made with passion.
I even heard that Playstation players want to have XBox players join in too
"Let's get the ODSTs as reinforcement!"
What actually is impressive is the game is bugged as hell. Like it is really bad. Every 3 to 5 games I get stuck in a rock or under the earth or get stuck in third person shooting an invisible gun that you can't really aim and you have to find the magical combo of diving and/or shooting or crouching to get out of it. And yet it is still fun even as crazy buggy as it is.
Just played after I posted this, and a bomb landed near me. Everything began rattling and shaking, but it didn't stop so it was like being trapped inside a popcorn maker. It stayed that way until I died. And my teammates had big purple ?s affixed over them. Like I said, supper buggy, and despite that, you just want to play again.
@@Degarth helldivers 2 is one of the few games where, when a bug does happen its really funny.
What I’m saying 😂 feels like ps2 days. Like it’s a part of the game.
Still less buggy than some AAA or 1st party exclusives that have come out the last few years.
Bugginess could be high ping between players. Works to switch game (for me atleast)
It isn't just Helldivers 2 that is gaining more love than a triple A title, it's pretty much most of, if not the entire Indie Game Dev side of things. The devs of Lethal Company, the devs of Deep Rock Galactic, and even the ones of No Man's Sky after their rocky start. Most of the AAA Game devs have lost any sort of touch with their playerbases, now running their games off of how much they make. With the smaller dev teams, it feels more about the passion of making a game that people will love, and their success is based on how much people will stick around and play.
Very well put. AAA devs are absolutely out of touch with their player base.
i’ve never heard if helldivers 2 in my life, let alone heard of the developers, but hearing that they don’t want to add pvp to avoid toxicity in the community was like a breath of FRESH AIR. as if after years of drowning in corporate products made by people who wouldn’t ever dream of worrying about their community to a degree, that sentence was like finally coming up for air. they KNOW the internet, they know how cruel people can get when given full anonymity. it just feels so good for a game development team to actually recognise that and steer their game away from it.
also nicki minaj in cod????? what???? 😭😭
Lol yup that’s what cod has become
The coolest thing is that super credits only allows you to buy the warbond. You still HAVE to play the game to earn the stuff in it. You can't buy your way to a completed warbond. And, as your working on one warbond, organically through the 100 credit bonuses in all the bonds, and the small amounts you can find in game, you'll earn enough to buy the next warbond. It's genius.
Bro cod is like that one uncle that is trying to fit in with everyone but can't while Helldivers 2 is the other uncle that stands out that everyone loves. I'm for sure buying Helldivers 2 now.
Lol so true 😂 HD2 will be worth your money 💯💯
We all know that uncle. He dresses in "cowboy like" apparel, always seen with a beer but never is drunk because they stop after one can because they know moderation; talented in their favorite past time such as hunting while teaching lessons that you want to learn, never missing a niece or nephew's events/birthday and "second father" of sorts. Yeah, helldivers is that.
COD: Greetings fellow young people
Helldivers, Palworld, Lethal Company, and Deep Rock Galactic are the four horsemen of fucking amazing indie games
Yes sir!! 🙌
i'm not really sure helldivers, deep rock galactic and palworld count as indie, they've got studios and funding
@makinnir indie generally means not a major corporate group. Indie films have studios, they just are not part of Hollywood.
This is stardew valley erasure
Get Palworld out of that list.
Me hearing the based arguments: He's got a point, based.
Me watching him playing on the second difficulty AND having fun: Based
Me internally: Haha go helldive
10:52 Halo too. Seeing their helmets instantly reminds me of the ODSTs.
And both of their motto are similar.
👍
Why? because Helldiver doesnt need to chase trends in the hopes it could stay relevent unlike cod that needs to copy the most popular thing
Exactly right 🎯
Call of Duty Heck Jumpers releasing in 2025 😂
@bretwilliams249 nah its be heaven launchers 🤣
@@chickennugget-agentfuture Both you wrong. It's going to be called "heavens accent", wouldn't want to insult anyone.
@@FoxBoyWithBushyTailAndEars ah ok
I just love how you can find fun in Helldivers 2 even after dying or losing
Yup the fun never ends lol
I remember laughing a shiton after my friend landed on me accidentally, friendly fire is most of the time extremely funny
Its playing for your friends rather than against them
Bile Titan: *Kills a Helldiver*
Said Helldiver: *Guided missle*
I quit playing cod for 3 years and im planning to join the HellDivers 2 community and the game itself
Solid plan
@@lAMDEWAN Thanks man...just I got so much tired of the BS cheats and hackers ruining the CoD community and the streamers...oh boy, hacking literally and the dev's not doing nothing about it, so I quit playing WarZone...now I am playing CoD Ghost DLC Bundles, but mostly I am in DayZ and now Im planning to join HellDivers 2 and Car Drifting X
It’s funny how you mention that older cods were more social and you could meet some life long friends. Literally one of the people I currently play helldivers with is someone I met in MW2 all the way back in 2009 and have been playing various games with ever since.
Testament as to how they brought players together
We real OGs don't even touch any cod after cod ww2.
Some guys from work told me about Helldivers initially. I remember thinking it sounded cool, but still being hesitant given the state of the gaming market.
They continued to talk about it for a few weeks, and eventually I was like "Okay, I gotta see what this is." So, I watched some gameplay, and I was like "Oh, this does look like a pretty cool game."
I still held out for a bit longer, kept up with the news on the game for a bit. Kept hearing nothing but good things, so I gave in and bought it.
The intro scene was so epic, the music was so awesome, the writing was witty, clever, and amusing. And the gameplay was just stunning. Even still, I'm sometimes blown away by the scale of the battles, explosions, and landscape.
I think I played almost non-stop for 2 weeks straight (including nights after work) and put over 100 hours in after one month of owning the game 😅.
It really is that good. Helldivers 2 has captured something really awesome, and I'm glad I decided to join the ride!
Right on! Everything about this game goes back to the developers putting passion into it.
literally the exact same story for me
Arrowhead has good communication with the community, so when places like the creek happened, they can turn that into more fun
They know how to give the people what they want 🙌🔥
When Soap die in new MW3
I saw nothing happen
No one feeling sad or posting about it
But when Malevelon Creek war happen, i keep seeing memes happening
These meme are the reason i buy this game
I finally found a game that can make me play in long term and leave trash COD behind
Why would I, a game dev who makes a living out of milking these no-life incels for their money, want to communicate with these peasants for any reason? They'll pay me for nothing and be happy for it.
Yes, I'm being sarcastic.
Funny thing is on a mission sometimes I only get teamkilled, it’s kinda funny and never met one toxic player. Helldivers 2 is breath of fresh air and I love playing every second of it
Personal experience with helldivers.
New player joined me and apologized for being trash as a level 5 on a challenging mission. He got attacked by a charger, I took offense to someone touching my child. The charger no longer exists.
Lvl 5 later became a 23 and was dropping chargers on his own.
They grow up so fast.
An hour ago I was playing on a nighttime mission against the bugs. Visibility was low, we were on a suicide mission and some guy called a gating sentry to the extraction point. Only thing enabling us to see the incoming bugs was the muzzle flash of that turret and some construction lights around the point. I'm on low graphs but my man that was a sight almost as cinematic as battlefield 1. It was scary af as well. This game is a masterpiece for connecting people more with that non toxicity policy and delivering the atmosphere just right
The other day, my friends and I were waiting on evac on a terminid desert planet. We were on a decline, surrounded by slopes that towered over us. All of the terminids spawned on the hill and came running down in hordes at us. All the while, I kept thinking of that scene from Mulan when the huns arrive and charge down the mountain.
"Prepare to fight! If we die, we die with honor!"
Yes sir love how the game is social!! 🙌🔥
I once had to extract as the last member of my team, the ship was gone, there were fire tornadoes on the extraction, and a charger and 20 other smaller bugs were chasing me. I had to run around for more than a minute with only 1 stim, grab my partners samples, and somehow just barely managed to get onto the ship. It's moments like that which really make the game fun and worth every penny.
It is absolutely hilarious that HD2 gave us a new Warbond bundle for 10$ to easily obtain in a very easy and passionate and fun way, while COD brought a new King Kong Gauntlet which you need to unlock after purchasing the rest of the bundles that costs about 80$!!
The fact I could watch Godzilla x Kong like 4 times irl and then buy the DVD when it comes out all for the same price of that dumbass fucking glove is staggering.
It’s a complete joke 😂
I don't play cod anymore so hearing the "king Kong gauntlet" just sounds like a meme. Oh how the game has changed since I seriously played and liked it.
You don’t actually have to spend $10 on the new warbond as you can get the credits in game. Therefore any warbond can be purchased with in game currency and you don’t have to spend any cash on getting any warbonds.
@lAMDEWAN damn.....I admire your conviction to replying to the comments. More than 90% of the comments have you on the reply section. Bravo
I’ve been a fan of arrowhead since they released their first game, magicka, and enjoyed the first helldivers. I was really excited when I saw them announce a sequel, and even broke my “don’t preorder games” rule, but man was I unprepared to see how much they blew up. It makes me really happy to see a relatively unknown dev studio I’ve followed for years finally getting the recognition they deserve.
Even when i get team killed by a explosion i still love my Helldiver brothers in arms. I haven't even run into a "bad player" only people that want to be a good teamate. FOR OUR HOME SUPER EARTH
FOR SUPER EARTH 🌎
I took a guys sniper by accident in the game and he straight up began to melee me because I took it.
only ever ran into a few bad players, and they were pretty bad, but everyone elee has been great
@@The-No-onesame, I accidentally misclicked my gun and shot him once..
He killed me and then stole all of my samples and then kicked me out, even when I said misclick
@@Catzislife I accidentally shot someone when we were extracting, he died, I said sorry and then he kicked me.
Helldivers 2 has been so refreshing I don’t even want to play another call of duty past black ops 3.
Yup no need to
the fact that you even KNOW the names of "recent" CoDs means you are part of the problem. Any sane gamer have not even vomited towards "games" like CoD / Battlefield / Fifa etc etc.
@@_Lunariathat’s just false, you’ll always hear about them wherever you go, it’s not considering to even buy these trash games.
Plus some of those games have some pretty good campaigns, I mean games like mw2019 which was an absolute banger of a campaign and a not too bad multiplayer, micro transactions plagued it later tho.
BO3 was mid af, BO4 was way better. But for the most part CoD fell off like a decade ago
@@Andreadu34 Yup, thats exactly what a CoD / Battlefield "gamer" would say "But waaah, its really good and not at all predatory macrotransactions paytowin bullshit riddled pieces of garbage" xD
I know that you have a serious case of Sunk Cost going on, as you must know deep inside that those "games" are utter shit, but cause you spent money on them like a..erm.. "special" person, you must try to convince yourself and others, that it wasnt 200% wasted.
Its okay dude, you can let those "games" go.. step into the light and realize that actual proper & good games dont have pay2win mtx that puts you against more p2wnning people so you are forced to spend more money on pay2win, only for the devs to nerf and/or add MORE pay2winnier stuff 2 weeks after.
Malevolent Creek needs you Soldier !
Palworld and Helldivers 2 devs just seem far more human, and wholesome actually encouraging their playerbase to be normal and have a good time
not getting teabagged by nicky minaj is a big plus imo
remember when entire map packs used to be 10$ lol for 4 maps and a zombies map, now you spend 40$ to get 1 nicki skin and p92 pistol that shoots salt water into your OWN eyeballs
When cod did live service the right way
Yeah you used to actually get content instead of a worthless digital appearance to draw in the Fortnite kids
Correct me if I'm wrong. Arrowhead doesn't have 100 dev. They have 100 staff. This could mean they have around 30 dev.
Yeah even better. 100 is just the safe bet
curious to why you don't believe weekly events with challenges for free animated camos, operator skins, blueprints and after market parts in Call of Duty aren't something to progress towards 4:10
The lad is quite a rage baiter so i wouldn't expect him to buy the next cod
Unlocking a new battle pass in Helldivers equates to about 20 hours or one to two matches every day between battle pass releases. pretty reasonable compared to some games.
The fact you can even find the premium currency on the ground in missions is amazing too. My friend has bought 2 of 3 premium warbonds and almost has the 3rd without even paying a cent, just having fun with the guys.
Recently bought helldivers after seeing my friends all playing it. At first I was just thinking it wasn’t for me, but then I finally convinced myself to buy the game because my friends were playing it nonstop. After only playing for 4 hours I bought the super citizen pack. That should tell you how good the game is.
Awesome story man haha it shows how good the game is for sure
Dude, I’ve met a couple of cool people in this game. It feels wholesome because it’s an us vs them mentality. It’s awesome.
It really is
I love how HD2 has random difficulty levels inside the difficulty levels. We were playing on a high level difficulty, i cant remember which one, and we walked through it. We bumped it up by one and we got slaughtered. Lowered it back down and still barely made it.
The most difficult start to any successful mission ive ever had was dropping between three drone towers on suicide mission difficulty. By the tine we got the three towers destroyed we had three divers left in reserve and we hadnt even started going to the main mission.
Im still figuring out how we pulled a victory on that mission
I think HD2 succeeds for multiple reasons, one of which is it doesn't follow FPS trends such as enhanced mobility, no fast 'zippy' movement, has brilliant particle effects and massive explosions, a weapons sandbox where almost all weapons have their place, and a fun community vibe.
Yup FUN is the word I think of when I think of HD2
And friendly fire
The only good games I've played with said "zippy" and fast movement are boomer shooters. And ultrakill
God, i love the slower movement in HD2. Im so sick of all the fast-paced pvp twitch shooters. Pvp is just way over represented in the market imo.
One of the things about the warbonds is you have to use super credits to unlock them but you allso have to actually play the game to get medals to be able to get the equipment inside them
Yup and it’s fun to play through it
