- It's that time of year again! Wet Hop season is upon us (or slightly past but it does take me some time to make videos). I'm trying these fresh hops with some lavender buds in a simple grain bill pale ale.

I had a beer at a brewery that had too much of the other type of Lavender, it was purple and tasted like bath water but when done right I love lavender

I malted and smoked a bunch of wheat and the two parts of my grodziskie are fermenting away. I had to buy another mini fridge to do this so the 3 gallons of of this grodziskie has only cost me $575 so far so yeah, good stuff. I harvested my Saaz hops and will probably knock out a hefeweisen in the next 2 months when its cooler.
O man I hate brew days like this! Usually that means the beer turns out great though. ;)

You lucked out on the hose failure! Always, always turn off your main water valve to the property before you leave! In my former career I have seen six figure water damage from a single failed pipe under a sink that wasn’t detected for a week.
I brewed a wild hop beer recently and found that the cones absorb a ton of liquid. I did a 5 gallon batch (5.3 with Clawhammer equip) and ended up with 4.25 gallons of finished wort. I used dried whole hop cones totaling 4 oz.
Might need to squeeze the hops out like with a brew bag

Does your mom live off 290? I think I have some of that lavender in the cabinet.
Ever consider brewing gruit? I do love beer, but I'm trying to get away from the hops, as they are extremely estrogenic. I like my testosterone too much to continue to drink beer to the extent I used to. I'm sticking primarily to mead now. Still, it's awesome to see girls brewing! Best to you!
Yeah be careful, too much IPAs and you will grow boobs!
@@lucaparolin5623 Exactly. It's good you are aware. Thank the German Beer purity Act of 1516 (first drug law), which took the sexually stimulating herbs (yarrow, bog myrtle, marsh rosemary, etc) out of beer (gruit) making them illegal and replaced them with something known to dull sexual drive, hops. If you've never heard of "brewers droop" you should check out the term. Most people don't even know that the first pilsner (pilsenkraut) was a henbane beer that was consumed by German Berserkers prior to entering battle. You've got to stay informed; your health depends on it. Stay alert!

@@lucaparolin5623 I wasn't implying that your wife wasn't satisfied, sorry if your ego got bruised. The thing is that I'm talking facts, not opinion. If you do your research, you will find that hops indeed contain one of the most potent estrogens that exist, estradiol. Women that used to harvest hops back in the day would come into their menstrual cycles sooner because of this contact. So, while I'm not trying to insult you and say that because you drink beer you are not a man, what I'm really saying is maybe, just maybe, you are not as much of a man as you could be.
@@littlebones88 my ego it's fine, it was just my experience, i guess i have too much testosterone naturally and it balances that out so... are you into body building or stuff like that?! you have a battle to take part sir? you 're talkin about beserkers...seriously... what's the definition for a man in your opinion? i'm curious now...
