  • For those of you who don’t know, my husband is in the film industry and a proud union member. His union isn’t a part of the strikes but we stand in solidarity with our union brothers and sisters in WGA and SAG (and all the other unions currently striking!) I’m more than thrilled that WGA came to an agreement and I hope SAG has their demands upheld.
If you’d like to make this Picket Line Pale Ale, the recipe is below! It’s probably the most true to style pale ale I’ve ever made so if that’s what you like, take a stab at it!

I saw this and had to watch as a fellow homebrewer/Local 700 member. This year was pretty tough being out of work but I am looking forward to when things get back into full swing again. While I have the free time I have been working on my brews. Thanks again for the video, love all the info you share!

Hi Sarah. Great to see you back brewing. One question... is there any advantage to measuring OG in Brix and then converting to SG? I just use a refractometer marked in SG to begin with.

I’m not Sarah but figured I’d answer lol. Brix is more accurate when you take into account your refractometer’s correction factor (Short Circuited Brewers has a video on how to find this, but it varies from wort to wort actually so it’s never 100% correct). It honestly doesn’t really matter anyway, it’s gonna be within .004 typically which is kinda marginal and close enough IMO so just keep doing what you’re doing if your beer is good

I've had similar experiences with kveik fermentations; I had to clean krausen off my ceiling once!

Dropping things? Don't want to worrie you, but get tested for M.S. I only mention it because a mates misses got it and one of her symptoms was dropping things.

Kveik works but it is NOT a replacement for chico strain fermented at low temps. Some company should send you a glycol chiller!
