You're not supposed to screw the dipstick in to check the oil level. The instruction manual says to just set it in and pull it back out. Twisting it in to check makes the amount of oil needed too low.

Nah don’t worry about it. I have used and abused my fair share of lawn mowers. But for the price I will baby this one. 😁
When checking the oil level rest the dip stick in the opening without screwing it in.
