Fighting Dangerously Deep Canadian Snow with

- @DirtLifestyle and I set off to find Deep Snow in the Canadian Mountains outside of British Columbia. We start climbing snowy trails in the night, end up camping at an abandoned cabin, and have an excellent camp dinner of steak. The next morning we set out to find the deep snow on the Whipsaw trail. We climb up to 6,000ft in elevation and find the deep deep snow in very technical driving conditions. Nate's Toyota Tacoma helped my Jeep Wrangler 392 and Lance's Ford Bronco recovery many time. At one point the snow get's so difficult we daisy chain all of our rigs, including a free spooled winch line so we can pull each other and winch each other when needed.

What a great trip my friend. I can't wait to do it again 👊
Same here bro. Had a blast. 100% gonna hang out again.
Thanks for letting the Bronco tag along. Thanks for blazing trail, recovering everyone, and dropping knowledge on us newbies!!!!! Your the beat Nate!!!!
Sign me up for next go!
Still upset I couldn’t come with you guys 😢
Me too dude, we missed you on this one!
I can't believe you guys went up there this time of year, that's wild. Great looking trip.
The snowmobile riders didn’t know what to think of it lol.
Being a Canadian and loving ketchup chips since I was a kid this made me laugh and realize how lucky I am to have them my whole life.
You ARE lucky. I can’t figure out why we don’t have them here. So lame. They are so good.
Allegedly Safeway has them but they are sold out near me. Kinda like the All dressed ones ruffles. A lady at work would bring them down from Canada all the time, then they finally showed up in the US.
The whole time I am watching, I keep thinking don't go down to Wells Lake, you will never get out of there till late, late spring!
Looked like a great time! Winter camping in remote places like that is so peaceful, quiet and relaxing... and no bugs!!
Lol. Ya we knew that was going to be a tough road out if we went down there. We could have called Shaun to rescue us on his tracks...I mean that would have been an awesome video..but would have sucked to leave our rigs. I agree - love winter camping...and am starting to love snow wheeling as well.
glad you enjoyed your stay in our beautiful province. Canada has several beautiful provinces, but BC is on another level, especially if you like the outdoors and wheeling.
my wife and I love wheeling too, but especially the snow wheeling out here. we also make sure to go every christmas and new years mornings. cheers from vancouver island!
Cheers!!! I love that tradition dude, so cool. And I can’t wait to get back up there!
Vancouver island …… top notch to live here!
🤔, you should be able to run 9psi. I run 9psi on stock rims (35s) in the snow in Tahoe. Not as many lateral forces snow Wheeling. However, I only run down to 15psi on stock rims in the summer
I ran 5 psi on the way to our first campsite. I did fine on easy snow covered trails. I aired up to 9 when I wasn’t sure how rough the trail would be. Zero issues.
I had mine at 8psi with no issues. I now wish I would have dropped to 7 or 6.
One year ago today I was going thru 4ft of snow just to get in and out of my home to go feed livestock, also drive 40 miles round trip during those storms we had. PS; I live in N.E. Washington at 3000'😮 N.E.Washington Washington
Love the videos too!!
Last year was snowmageddon in Idaho too. Sounds like you had a ton of work just to go do a ton of work!
Reminds me of late season hunting!
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!
Im hoping overlanding SANTA visits me! I sent him a detailed list...lol
MEEE TOOOOO. lol
Me too!
Wow, that's a pretty epic first run of snow wheeling. Not sure I would have survived it. haha. Though, I'd be down to try Ketchup chips.
The Ketchup chips were totally worth it!
Very good video 👍 🎅
Thank you!
Looked like an amazing trip! I couldn’t believe what I saw…Lance eating chips?!?!?!
When in Canada Chris!!!! Plus back in the 80’s watching good old WWF I was known to dip my chips in ketchup!!! My favorite!!! I had no idea they made ketchup chips. A homage to my youth.
@@AngerManagementOverland that’s as good a reason as any Lance!
Missed you on this one bro.
Yeah Chris!!!! Missed you bro. Now that you have your passport you are in on the next Canada trip
@@Venture2Roam next time!!!!
AWESOME!! Love the soundtrack this time!!!!!!
Thanks man..I had fun with it.
Did he teach you how to drive with both feet..for limit of wheel spin, and fake the lockers out for advantage? Good job Will and lance!!!
A little bit of two pedal driving. Still lots to learn..need to get back out with him and learn more.
Yes Nate scolded me to two pedal drive. I didnt know it was that critical but now I know!!! Nate learned me that snow wheeling is as technical as rock crawling in a much different skill set.
So cool that i stumbled upon this video. The whipsaw is my favorite trail, and im so fortunate to live within a couple hours of it.
The first time i did the whipsaw was in early october about 4 years ago and it snowed so bad it made for a really sketchy trip. I was no where near expereineced enough and probability used my cheap bulldog winch over 25 times that day. Lucky it didnt fail. When i got back i downloaded gaia maps and bought a garmin inreach. Good times!
Wow..that sounds like a scary day lol. You are lucky to live so close to it..what a fantastic area..I can’t wait to go back.
Pretty mild winter making this possible for sure. Usually it’s off limits just to the volume of snow it gets. Most of the hardcore snow wheelers have areas close to the major city areas. In those meadow areas we rig up what we call the push rope. Daisy chain 3 rigs together with kinetics , usually you can keep one rig unstuck to work the others loose without the rig up/down time. Takes a lot of coordination though to all get on the same page as everyone is forward/reverse right steady
Next time we go out to do serious snow wheeling we'll have more recovery gear to do stuff like that. This time I was short a recovery bag because I had to haul a new suspension all the to BC from Idaho...but I'd love to get into stuff that so deep you have do "The Push Rope" method.
Merry Christmas 2023! 🎉
Merry Christmas!!
Beyond gorgeous scenery. Would totally love to visit and see it but don't think I would want to camp in that cold of temps. Happy New Year!
It was cold. But The views up there were worth it for me. Happy New Year!
Bruh that Taco making you look bad! 😉 Great video. Perfect Christmas Day watch.
That Taco is incredible! But ya…made me look like a noob lol.
*googles "39's"@@Venture2Roam
Glad you came to Canada and enjoyed the chips. Lol. Probably my favorite flavor as well.
Ketchup chips blew my mind...I can't figure out why we don't have them here..they are delicious!
Do you have any fuel left Will is the greatest line ever after watching you do that little climb. Made me laugh
I was laughing out loud in my rig when Lance said it 😂
We have those chips in Florida. I've never had them, but I'm now interested.
What? Florida….
@@Venture2Roam Yep. I see them all the time.
Epic. TY for teaching us noob's some of the tricks of the trade, so we can be safer on the trail. Don't go alone. Don't go with a friend as inexperienced as you are. Don't go without the proper gear for the situation at hand. And buy KETCHUP chips!
Lol…so glad you enjoyed it. Ketchup Chips FTW!
Awesome video and loved the ketchup chips plug. Old Dutch ketchup are the best! I'm eating a bag right now in Seattle! Yum!
I need to smuggle some of those into Idaho!
impeccable music taste
Thank you!!
Never hurts to carry some ether (carb cleaner or whatever) and a good 3" wide ratchet strap or two to reseat a bead. try it at home (utube it) to see what your getting into, but anyway, we are in a habit of just pulling the valve core till she stops whistling should be around 2 or 3 psi, its and incredible difference in a pinch but also incredibly hard on the sidewalls with my fat JKU.
Great tips!
Never had ketchup flavored chips but I have been known to just put ketchup on chips haha.
The Extra Ketchup flavored chips tasted just like that.
Me, know another trail your dreaming of 😜. You know more about Ketchup chips than me now 😂.

I love this colab videos. Even more if are from Will and Nate.👍👍 Canadian Chips in the snow
My favorite part of editing this was the chips thing. It was hilarious how serious we took it in the moment lol.
@@Venture2Roam veryyyyyy serioussssss🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You need to come north Idaho February we can play in real snow 6to10 feet of snow makes if fun dirt head Dave just went up here my backyard
Hope we get more snow this year..it’s been dismal so far.
So good man! Snow wheeling with the master sounds awesome
I was his Padawon Learner lol. More than that though, we just had fun hanging out...it's nice to go out with people you genuinely like...which is you and I have to wheel again soon.
@@Venture2Roam 100% agree man. Great to share the experience with great people
Do you not get copyright shenanigans for using so much unlicensed music? Great soundtrack.
It's all actually licensed. I use a service that has chart music. It's a lot of fun to play with.
I gotta say, the approach that you guys took seems much more realistic and viable than some of the other wheelers on utube who just hammer the eff outta their rev limiters.....I suppose the only real reason to rev the piss out of the engines would be to hear them?
Thanks. Nothing against other creators, but some of them just don’t know how to snow wheel. It’s kind of a tricky thing to learn. That said, different types of snow need different approaches. Sometimes revving the engine is the right thing to do..but most of the time it not.
What about putting a snow breaker with the shape of a triangle because the front of a vehicle would be more like hitting the snow with a brick
I’ve never seen one of those. Going to google it now.
You should try katchup Takis they are amazing
Oooo…now I’m going to go find those.
Love the video! Getting into wheeling myself and hoping to hit snow soon. I have to know what hoodie that is you’re wearing that is red and white?
Thank you! Definitely do some research before snow wheeling. Watch Nate’s channel and go out with folks. The hoodie is from Amazon. Just search men’s knitted hoodie.
Old Dutch #1 Ketchup chips !! Parents bring at least a dozen bags everytime they come !!
lol. I wish we could get them in Idaho!
@@Venture2Roamoh you and me both !
How’d the Gazelle do?? I was contemplating that gazebo or maybe a lined icefishing tent for hanging out in. Merry Christmas 🎄
I was shocked at how warm it was with just a propane stove. It worked really well.
I have a Clam Pavillion that is a solid alternative option to look at. The wall covers are heftier and fully zip.
Man!!! That is some serious powder to plow through!! The views up there epic!! And look at y'all enjoying some Canadian delicacy!! Colleen is going to be so excited when she see's this episode. Next you'll need to try the All Dressed chips!! Game changer for that person who loves to snack!! Cheers!! J & C
Dude All Dressed may have been my favorite. Need to cross the border again just to go on a chip run!
Класс👍Монтаж отличный, фишка с диалогами на экране - что-то новенькое, такого и не видел даже)
Thank you!!
What are you using for your music bro im loving the tracks.
Thanks! I use a bunch of different sources…but check out Lick’d. it’s where I find some good ones.
Great video you should call Shaun and Bruce they will get you through the wip saw . Can't wait for your summer run. MISS VICKIE'S are the best!!!!!! Cheers EH
Shaun was supposed to go on this one, but had something come up last minute...I'm sure we'll find some time on the trial together though.
So glad you guys got out here to enjoy at least a piece of the Whipsaw..... one of our favorite trails!! BTW the Miss Vickys spicy ketchup chips are the best!! good call! If you do return in the summer hopefully we will cross paths. Great vid guys!
I’m totally coming back this summer…fit the Whipsaw…and for Ms Vickie’s!!
Let me know when you want to try again! We did well last weekend
How far did you get?
Snow wheeling is the best!! So glad I'm in Idaho
Same here...we just need a little more snow right now!
Baddest Tacoma around! Awesome video.
I agree. That’s such an awesome rig.
This is awesome, I love snow wheeling, and this would be a bucket list type trip for me!
It was incredible to get up there! I need more snow wheeling in my life.
@@Venture2Roam just saw the lift and tires install on Epic Adventure Outfitters channel, love the ribbing Christian was giving Nate, lol. Was that the day Shaun got his tracks installed too?
@@TheTinManTJ Awesome. My version of that install will be coming out soon. Shaun was there to hang because we're friends, but couldn't go out with Nate and I after. He had his tracks on already.
@@Venture2Roam It would be fun to see you Nate and Shaun all go on an adventure sometime!
@@TheTinManTJ I think that will happen..hopefully soon.
Great video guys! We Had a cabin near the Whipsaw, spend many summers atv’g endless trails and winters sledding, snowshoe’g and enjoying the wood stove in a warm cabin. Winters were our fav time! No bugs, dust & less people! Just haven’t tried the deep snow driving, looks like work lol.
Sounds awesome. Yep, it's a lot more work than standard wheeling, but it's a ton of fun to go beyond what you think is possible in a full sized rig!
Snow wheeling is a blast.. even if you're in SoCal.. but not alone.. unless it's 6 inches deep.. maybe?? Can't wait to get back to the PNW.. thanks for another great adventure
This definitely made me want to do more snow wheeling!
Just found your channel. Love your video and thanks for playing awesome music!!!
Right on, so glad you found it!!
The PNW and BC Overlander crew up there are some of the coolest guys and their videos are movie quality. Love watching. Keep up the great work guys!
I think they’ve invented something for this.
?
Go to Scotland and get haggis potato chips
That sounds gross..but I just might do it anyway.
Old Dutch ketchup chips is the best.
They were the most potato-y to me. Super good.
@@Venture2Roam did you try Cheezies while you were up here? Been my favourite since I was just a little kid, nearly seventy years ago.
@@georgevindo Never heard of those...but now I have something to look forward to when I go back!
@@Venture2Roam You definitely should, they're really good and not greasy at all.
what kinda fire pit is that you are using inside of the tent?
It called Ukia. They make a few different models..one of them has flames that dance to music..it’s wild. Nate’s was just their basic one though. Plenty of heat to keep us warm.
Amazing videos, what drone are you using??
Thank you! We had a DJI Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Pro on this trip.
@@Venture2Roam thanks, I’m trying to make videos too maybe one day we can go off-road together bc right now I’m full stock haha
First time seeing your channel. Great content and edits. Real easy to watch. Thanks for posting.
Right on..so glad you found us! More coming soon!
Kudos Will. Yeah, you picked the right guy to snow wheel with. I think the two guys I would choose to go out with if I had the chance would be Nate or Shaun. Looked fun!
Both excellent dudes. I was bummed Shaun couldn’t make this one..his tracks are just insane. Would love to get the three of us together one of these days.
Nice 100 gecs outro. Got stuck in my head this summer.
Same here...I love/hate that band...but that song is insanely catchy.

Man that Taco is incredible
It’s something else!
Well done on the soundtrack

I've been through whip probably over 100 times and watched a ton of different vids and your edit is absolutely top shelf !! Great job !
Thank you! I can’t wait to go back and film the rest of it. What an awesome trail.
@@Venture2Roam Late sept early oct is best time unless you want the snow.
New subscriber due to Nate lead my dude! Awesome videos!!!
Nate is the best! Thanks for coming over!!!!
Awesome video as usual! What’s your first impression thoughts on the new tires?
Thank you! I like the new tires in general..but it's hard to say because I haven't really tested them in anything but snow. They are decent snow tires, but not great. They are great on the highway, which is surprising because the tread is so aggressive...the siping helps a ton I think. I may not keep them long term, but I'm going to have fun with them for a while!!!
How was Lance’s Bronco in this trip? Was it able to keep up with you and Nate? I’m asking cause I just recently traded in my Jeep for a Badlands and am waiting for my new set of wheels and tires to start testing it out! Thanks, great video dude!
Glad you had a great time adventuring our backward! BC is amazing!
The Bronco did great…but it had Nate’s Taco, and my 392 plowing trail ahead of it. I think it would have done just as well in the lead, with the exception that it was lower to the ground than the other two rigs. The traction control seemed to work great.
@@Venture2RoamNice!! This just gets me more excited to start exploring with the new rig. Can’t wait to change the components to accommodate some 37-38” tires!! Cheers!
Did they take or need extra gas?
We didn’t. We filled up 5 miles from the trailhead, and had plenty of fuel range.
What a fantastic video!
Thank you!
Class video guys
Thank you!!
Will, what tires are you running on the 395? Are they Baja bosses? Also, this video could be a commercial for the K02’s 😂
The KO2s were incredible in the snow. Yes Baja Boss ATs. They were ok…just not as good as the KO2s in the snow.
Thanks for the reply! I’m interested to see how the K03’s are now that they’re starting to roll out.
Awesome video as usual! I can't wait to explore it this summer!
Thank you. Same here. I’m going back this summer.
great vibes in the video
Appreciate that

Merry Christmas to you too!!
Welcome to Canada !
Thank you! Loved it up there..coming back soon.
what tires did they use?
Nate and Lance were on KO2s and I was on Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs..all snow rated, but the BFGs did a bit better.
great video. I learned a lot and am looking forward to doing some snow wheeling.
I learned a lot too! Nate is the best.
Points of Authority makes for a badass opening! Love LP! 🥰

Nate is the best..had a great time with him. I’m definitely going back in the summer. The 392 will eat it up man.

Another awesome video Will! I love the snow wheeling, Nate is definitely the king of it! Can’t wait for more videos! Merry Christmas!💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Nate is King of the Snow Wheelers for sure. He's also a really fun dude to hang with. Gonna have to get together with him more often.
I just got done watching Nates video on snow tires. 2 key factors for me is the lowest tire pressure you can run with a soft tire that will balloon on the bottom and tires that will not only pack snow, but traction that will pull you forward with minimal throttle usage! I prefer a throttle assist on electric throttles so you can lighten a heavy foot. Nate didnt mention the Super Swamper iRok's in his video, but its my favorite tire in Pinhurst, Silver Valley, and Mullin, Idaho areas that I do most of my winter wheeling in. Great video Will! Looks like it was a great time!
