- Don't Miss this brand new long range off-road overlanding adventure route across the state of Oregon. We set out in our Jeep Gladiator and Jeep Wrangler to route sections of the trail before making it public, finding dispersed camping, and exploring the beauty of Oregon along the way. This video covers the Oregon Desert, or Oregon Outback, or the High Desert of Oregon - whatever you want to call it. It also covers the section from the Desert to Diamond Lake on back country roads. It's an incredible overlanding route that showcases Oregon's vast variety in landscape and climate from east to west (or west to east).

@@brianperalez8070 It's not live yet. I'll post the link to it as soon as it is. Should be very soon.
OnX Offroad doesn't support my tablet. And I won't be buying a new tablet just to get one route. Gaia GPS has been serving me faithfully, accurately and from what I understand with significantly richer data than OnX Offroad has in it, and Gaia GPS has been doing that since before OnX Offroad even existed. Someday if you publish the route in a universal format, like GPX, I'd love to check it out. But if you're only going to provide it in a unique, proprietary (and in my view, lesser) format, it'll have to wait. But I do look forward to seeing it someday. 🙂
@@VideosOffRoad lol..so you’re saying you like Gaia? 🤪. I like Gaia too, but they don’t partner with creators to do projects like this. And these projects are expensive to create(at least it was for me). I’ve used both extensively and think they have different strengths. OnX is much much easier to use, but Gaia has deeper data if you pay more and know how to use layers effectively. I’m sure there’s a way you could figure out how to get the gpx files if you really wanted them. OnX has been really great to work with and they are constantly trying to improve the platform, so I can easily recommend them…but also understand that it’s not for everyone.
Super underrated that you spend a little bit extra to have some good music in your videos. A lot of creators with the exact same music. Very refreshing
Thank you! I work really hard to try and give my videos a different feel, so this comment is much appreciated!
Will, thank you, for being the adventurous soul who puts together these routes for the users of OnX. I love this type of traveling and I love your videos. ❤️ And wait! The duster isn't a superhero weapon? I must have been using it wrong all this time. 😫
Hahaha...it's 100% a weapon in the hands of 9 year old...and 85% a weapon in my hands ;)
A few days ago I found your channel from the Boulder Basin adventures. I am eating up all of your videos. I just wanted to stop in and comment how amazing your content is: the videography and music is next level. I can’t imagine how long it takes to get the shots you are getting. Extremely professional work. It must lengthen your days by 4 hours. Man though, the product is wonderful. Thanks for doing this. As a fellow Idahoan and an outdoor guy, this is great stuff.
Thank you so much for sending this comment. It's so cool to hear you are enjoying the videos...and thanks for noticing that they take some extra effort, that means a lot! More coming soon!!!!
The Oregon Outback is the best portion of the state. I have spent up to 6 days camping and with out seeing another person but lots of wild horses and other wildlife. You missed a killer camp spot in an old rock pit 6 miles north of Paisley off sand hollow road N 42° 47', W 120° 25'. . Another great campsite is near the corrals between lake Abert and the sun stone site about 2 miles from the highway. N 42° 3' W 120° 45'. On one trip we were camping off Winter Ridge and ran low on fuel. The attendant at the Paisley fueling station stayed open past closing time to fill our tank. :) Love small towns. Currently there is a wildfire complex at Diamond Lake.
Great info thanks for sharing!!
Missed the premier, but I'm so excited to watch this video! Great Job Will!!!
Thanks for watching bro!!
Hey, great video and can’t wait to run this next year and thank you for doing this!! I can’t imagine how much fun it was building this and then completing it. How awesome and seriously great job 👏 looking forward to your onX tracks!!
Right on!! Next vid on this will be out this week. OnX tracks will be out this week or next!
As an Oregonian I appreciate this info. Great work.
Thank you!
What an incredible episode and adventure! This was totally awesome to watch! I can’t wait for the next one. Thank you for all the effort that you put into this Wil! 👊🏼🙏🏼 and, tell Chris to get his RUclips channel started!
Thanks Greg! And congrats on hitting 20K - what a massive milestone, and well-earned.
This episode was great…the next one is going to have some banger moments! …and duly noted on the channel! I’ll get to work!!
Btw…my eldest daughter stole the shirt you gave me! 😂 AND Congrats on the success of your channel Greg!
Awesome video Will, so cool you made this route given the time and effort it takes to do this! It will be a bucket list for me someday for sure!👍
Thanks Mike!!! I'd love to do this route with you some day.
Great Video, as always. I just came through part of that area mid-July and there was still a lot of snow around Crater Lake. roads all open but still a lot of snow on the hillsides. I have been picking my way from eastern Oregon over to the Umpqua Vally for 3 years now while trying to avoid pavement. I will try using your route next year. Thanks for sharing!!
Ya there was a ton of snow up there...as the next video will show. I made a very big, very stupid mistake that cost us a full day. However, I'm not sure there's really any way to avoid pavement - because in Western Oregon even the forest service roads are paved. So at one point, we decided to make sure the route went through and was accessible, and stopped worrying about it being 100% dirt. After all - even BDRs can have a good bit of pavement since you're trying to get from point A to point B.
Man such a great video. I loved so many moments and you left us with a KILLER cliffhanger. Ready for episode 2.
Thanks dude, can’t wait to get the whole series out and launch the route!
I was in Oregon this past week driving through Pacific City. Oregan has such beautiful forest and mountain views. Hope to see ya'll on the road one day.
I really really loved the Coastal Mountain Range - one of my all time favorites and I can't wait to get back there.
Hey man, thank you so much for putting in the effort so more people can enjoy a multi day adventure. Just got a chance to watch your video. Looking forward to trying to do this route sometime🙌
Should be out very soon! Hope you get to try it.
Chris, check the motor mounts. If things flex enough it can pull it out of gear with the cable. Don’t forget the transmission mount also.
Great tip.
Thanks for the advice! I’ll definitly get that checked! 140,000 miles, that could be a real issue.

Chris, I really like your rig. I hope you don’t need to trade it in anytime soon.
@@westyso.cal.8842 thank you! Ripley has become like a member of the family, she’s not going anywhere anytime soon!
What a great video... the "calimocho" in Chile is known as "Jote" and it is also with Coca Zero
I need to go to Chile to find this out for myself!! Cheers!
@@Venture2Roam We will wait for you! 😄
That is nuts. quite the dedication, and as always great video man!
Thank you!!!
I really enjoy watching your video the look on your son face says it all enjoy life my friend keeo these beautiful videos coming its my dream to do this one day .
Thank you so much!!!
Ahhhh. Polaris RZRs catching fire since 2015. Great vid WILL!
Thank you. Ya I was really disappointed to read about the cause of that fire...there are ongoing lawsuits over it right now I think.
Those desert areas are no joke if you have a problem. I grew up roaming around the Nevada deserts and some of this reminds me of that. Now I have another trip to plan 🤣....great video.
I totally agree. It's 25,000 square miles...just in Oregon...10 million acres between Idaho, Oregon, and Utah out there...a problem if you're in the middle of it and something goes wrong. Thanks for watching!
Such a cool project, hope to do the route someday!
Hope we get to do it together!!
If a public road leads you to a private gate that’s not posted, go for it. But you might want to be prepared to return fire🤨.
Exactly!!!
Fantastic video!
Thank you!!
The story tell now could have gotten thru that snow no problem lol..... just kidding great video guys
lol...maybe we'll get him down here to try this winter!
keep up the good work!
Thank you!
We also have a Portuguese-South-African drink called Katemba which is a 50/50 mix of red wine and Coke. I prefer Pepsi 😅 Great episode Will 👍
Oh I like the sound of the word Katemba..I might use that next time! Pepsi is good too...we were just kidding around.
Great video. Looking forward to part 2.
Thank you! Part 2 coming soon!
Too funny. I am doing the same thing except for going across Idaho. I call it the East West Idaho Overland Route or WEIOR. I am heading out in two weeks to attempt the entire run between Jordan Valley, Oregon to Alpine, Wyoming. Just stumbled upon this video. I was hoping it ended at Jordan Valley, Or. Would have been cool to combine the two.
My route is 570 miles with 93% of that being dirt roads. We pass through only 4 towns along the way. Good luck with your adventure. George.
Right on. We’re developing an Idaho route too, but it’s in the very beginning stages…coincidentally it will likely also start in Jordan Valley. But will run north/south.
@@Venture2Roam might work out after all then. It will be interesting to find out. I'll keep a eye out for it.
Thanks for sharing the next adventure with us, Will. What’s the bin with drawer in the back??
That’s our DeWalt TSTAK set up. Been using it for years, love it.
Paisley! Love the Pioneer Saloon.
I have yet to go there, but I really want to. It was for sale when we were there.
Cheers 🥂
Cheers!
As a Pepsi enjoyer I feel attacked
Hahaha! Pepsi Matters.
Worst. People. Ever. 😂 Just kidding, I’m sure it’s great with Pepsi!
Great content, I live in Oregon and belong to On-X however I cannot find any Oregon overland route? Is there a specific name of the route you made/did?
The route hasn't been released yet, but it's coming very soon.
Did yall figure out the trans? Wondering if it was a combo of the incline and a flared 2-1 shift. I get that in my ram 3500 aswell as my 392 jeep. But it could be exasperated by the incline?
We think it was just the incline. No issues since then.
No after market high clearance, winch compatible, integrated light bars, couple of spotties for the Mojave?
😂 Not yet. It’s about to go bonkers though. Next week I’ll be at Epic Adventure Outfitters…then will have a bunch of stuff going on. Including high clearance, winch compatible lights lol.
Well, you need to add some potatoes and a vegetable to those steaks. You’re not a fan of Idaho potatoes you can always do rice.
ONLY MEAT! Just kidding - ya we were just being lazy. We love potatoes...It's hard not to when you're from Idaho!
New jeeps seem to like a clutch system transfer case , they get hot and your kinda stuck , the old chain style ate so much better , new tech in any 4x4 seem to fail
Interesting. I’ve never heard that before.
What drone do you use for the air shots
Mavic 3 Pro
Is this route live yet? Can't find it on On-X
They are working out a display bug..should be any day now...I'll announce it when they are ready.
Will the route be drivable for the majority of vehicles? Just curious because I’m driving a Subaru.
Yes, that’s the intent. I can’t say definitively, but yes Subarus should be able to do this route.
@@Venture2Roam awesome. Thanks. I’m trying to get out there more with overlanding
Whats the route called on Onx I dont see it. Thx!
The route isn't released yet..should be out very very soon!
What will the full route be named when it hits onX?
Good question. Not sure..but I’ll be very vocal about it when it on there.
@@Venture2Roam Living in Bend, I am so looking forward to hitting this route when it launches. TY
👍👍😃
🙌
way too much editorializing.
It’s literally my editorial 😂😂
@@Venture2Roam I mean, really love your stuff, just make it shorter. You do excellent work.
@@Noename-qx5rn Thank you!
Really enjoyed this video. Can’t wait for part two.
Oregon looks amazing.
How do you like that Iceco fridge compared to the Dometic?
Have you done a review on it already?
I like the Iceco because it's a dual zone..and a pretty good one at that...but I don't like the size of it..it's huge and heavy. The old Dometic is still running strong. It's the perfect size for a Jeep IMO.
@@Venture2Roam
Thank you Will.
I really appreciate that you take the time to engage with your viewers with helpful feedback.
See ya on the trails. 👋
Another fantastic video, thank you.
btw, Pepsi is better lol :) ... cheers!
Eewwww. Just kidding, I actually have no preference. Thanks for watching!!
😂😂😂 cheers!
