We've been to Merus twice. The husband usually drives on the trails, but Merus is a great place for us ladies to practice our driving skills. Don't be afraid!!! You have a lot of people there to help you along and driving Merus trails will boost your confidence. After all, if you ever get in a situation where the passenger has to drive, you need to know how to get out. Really loved the night runs.
Merus is a blast, went last Oct for the TrailRecon Summit with Brad... had an absolute blast.. my memory is pinstripe from front to rear on the passenger side...
I recently found your channel and am really glad I did. You do an excellent job all around and I truly enjoy coming along on your adventures from my couch. Learned a lot about places I look forward to explore with my wife!
A couple days at Merus will make anyone a better, more confident driver. There’s really no place like it. Awesome drone footage - 1st time I’ve seen shots that do the drop zone justice!
Thanks for the video. I just heard about this park recently, after having passed though Amarillo last march, I would have never thought this could exist out there!
Wow. That looks like so much fun. Dang, at about 50 minutes into your video....that shows just how bada** Cara's Jeep is. 😊. I'm in New Mexico and that looks a lot like it here. I'm going to have to check it out one day. Thanks as usual, for the great video. I'll watch the other one later.
Great video as always. Seen a few from there done by your buddy at trail recon. Would love to do his trail recon challenge one year if I get the opportunity to get over there
That was a blast to watch. Fun unique trails and lots of flexing and off camber stuff. Definitely a cool different experience. Looking forward to the next video!!!!
Great video!! Hellyeah, you both were flexing, and so was the gladiators .carnage is part of your overlanding. Mad respect for sending your gladiators. There are definitely not mall crawlers .killed it once again. And she's got the battle scares to prove it. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year.
BTW, starting around 38:45, you can hear something pop as you drive through that area. Can't see anything, but wondering if that part of the trail caused issues with your tires.
Black bear pass was closed for rock slide mitigation early this last season, the group that got in trouble drove around the closure signs and got in overvtheirvheads by trying to drive past the slide. The sherif was angry because after they were rescued they posted on social media that the pass was open. I do not expect a permanent closure.
Im curious, you said you swapped to the HD springs. I Have a clayton 2.5 overland going on my JTDR with just a simple rack/fuel and recovery gear. Even if I add a tent do you think I really need the HD springs ? How bad where you sagging?
Hello, how much do you estimate the loading in the bed? I'm looking for the Clayton 3.5" HD but I don't know if that's enough for the 1100lbs of extra loading in bed. Thank you for your response.
As a Colorado resident, I do think that if Black Bear (and other neighboring passes) can be cleared safely, they will re-open. The San Juans had a very snowy winter last year and stayed snowed in well into the summer. By the time officials could access the area, necessary rockslide mitigation couldn't be completed and get the pass open for 2023. That said, when people take it upon themselves to "open" a pass without the appropriate officials involved, I think that can influence how much priority those officials put into getting trails open. The San Miguel County sheriff was pretty peeved that people were ignoring the closure last year and putting themselves (and others) at risk. So, before people go on trails - please verify with the appropriate agencies that the trails are truly open so there isn't a reason to close them permanently.

Totally agree!!
Made a detour to Merus while we were in Texas for the Holidays. Too foggy to see much but a wonderful way to spend the day nonetheless.

And for the record…1st time I ran Starlight I missed a turn slightly and ripped a hole in my tire the size of my hand
Couldn't agree more!

@36:53 Troy's rig just wanted someone to come down and give it a Belly Rub.
Did you notice less popping while turning in 4x4 with the new axles?
BTW, starting around 38:45, you can hear something pop as you drive through that area. Can't see anything, but wondering if that part of the trail caused issues with your tires.
You can see my tire causing the fender flare to bulge then popping loose. It’s possible that did something. No way to know for sure.
Matt....killer long video....again. Hey I like those purple pants dude....what brand? Link?
Revolution Race. I love them. amzn.to/49xQ489
Matt, I need to run with you guys for a while, need to gain skills with someone that has them already

Greta video I need to make it out there. What are the thoughts so far on the Milestar X/T's?
Cara is loving them.

Do you chose not having a hard bed top do to weight? Or would it not make much of a difference
Fridges don’t work with bed slides

So what popped on your Gladiator going up that his after you had to readjust?
My fender
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures I'm going to have to look at rhat again
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures it sounded like your front suspension. Lol
@@rickhenry5468 it wasn’t. If you watch it you can see the tire pushing the fender flare up and then releasing it.
@OzarkOverlandAdventures ya I see it now
