I always found the lines where he says " you posion all your children to camouflage your scars", to be a powerful and true statement. I think we are all victims of our parents mistakes and traumas. So more then others. This song is so painful to listen to. It's feels like a fresh cut. True genius.

Yes, but also he is saying that to himself, I see this song like he is singing to himself: "you poison all your children to camouflage your scars"- like- you abuse all your girlfriends to camouflage your scars.... anyway too bad he become an abuser like his grandfather was.... bad for him..and his victims too...

When I was in high school my music teacher told us to do a work about a musician who had mark ourselves. I chose Marilyn Manson and the song "The Man That You Fear". I was then the bullied freak and the most harsh threatened. But I remember how when I expose my work, my teacher said that Manson was a true poet. Could be something stupid but that was the happiest thing happened on my teenage.

When I was 13, this song expressed the fear I felt about how my mom would react if I came out as gay: "The boy that you loved is the man that you fear." This song, among others from Marilyn Manson, clarified the angst that I couldn't articulate. It was cathartic and made me feel like someone understood my suffering. Thank you.

People throw stones at things that shine. Marilyn is one of them. He has always been different and rebellious. He is not a follower but a gainsayer. I was about to lose my hope to find someone real in this industry as a musician, till I encountered him. People love being pseudo-individuals. People love being fake, seeing fake around them. They think being like that will cover up all their flaws, but they put themselves into a deeper shit unintentionally. Whenever I listen to Marilyn's music, I feel something super intimate, super real and fragile. I love the way how brave he is to show all his flaws rather than covering them up with fake masks. I love how he can express his fragility without being afraid. Most people are afraid to cry, afraid to look sad, in fear of being seen like a weak or pathetic person by others. However, Marilyn showed who the real pathetic and weak are. I even read his autobiography to make sure if he was as real as I thought. However, he has never let me down. He and artists like him are the real ones people should respect and value. World has always been cruel to this kind of people. However, they persistently continue to be the way they are. These people are the only ones the world can't ruin or denigrate.
Edit: I haven't thought of writing this here until now, but last year I was watching Hannibal. On Instagram I followed Mads Mikkelsen who was the main character in the series "Hannibal". I saw him sharing fan art coming from fans, mostly of his pictures being drawn by fans. I decided to send my own drawing of him and then soon I saw him sharing my art and my name on it saying I have a nice name. Then as I followed Marilyn Manson on Instagram as well, I saw that he actually liked that post. I was shocked, but mostly because he probably had no idea who I was and that actually it was him who's been my top favourite artist of all times. So I wrote to him on Instagram DM section but of course he hasn't seen any of it. Then I decided to delete my Instagram account out of the blue to stay out of social media. The reason why I'm writing this to here is because I want him to hopefully read this comment and see it. It'd make me really happy if you just thumbs up and thank you for reading such a long edit. ❤️

He is simply accused which doesn’t mean he is guilty. It’s very strange that his ex fiancé (Rose McGowan) and ex wife (Dita) came forward and said that he was never abusive to them. I think ERW was a little girl trying to impress a rockstar and pretend like she was into BDSM when really she wasn’t…but again, that’s not Manson’s fault that she put in a front. If he was so terrible why did he support her when she left and came back pregnant by another man?? 🤔🤔

Then the long walk to crucifixion and when he falls to the ground. Such a beautiful video but the way he looks here is beyond gorgeous. Based on "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson. This song is literally a discussion about the entire story if you take out the music and prose.
This isn't about MM being an outcast or stoning him due to his strange social scruitny at the time. This is literally about a man trying to tell a town they need to stop holding a lottery once a year and killing a citizen. And that, by not changing, they poison all their children by covering up their sins. And yes, in the book children are not immune to the lottery. And yes children must participate in the murders.
And yes, he's amazingly beautiful in this video. Both with and without his makeup.

Recently had a very early miscarriage that I been dealing with alone, absolutely feared the father (serendipities definitely, still emotionally hurts tho), this video/song hits in some very strange ways but high key has actually just made it all a little bit easier to cope with. Interesting how many different ways people can relate to the same song.

Generation X'r get it. The world is a hard and lonely place. We don't sulk, we move forward. We had ut easy, yet hard. Soft, yet stale. Pain was familiar yet distant.
We would prick our finger, and instead of crying out we would cry within.
We don't hold back, we merely hold it in until it needs to come out.
We don't cry when people don't like us, we don't really care because the ones who love us are the ones who matter.

I've seen full blown 2h movies that don't have an ounce of substance like this MM video. I remember being 15 when it came out and my metalhead friends and I were mesmerized by this song and the video, newer generations don't have anything as deep as this, as deep as we had it in the 90's, I kinda feel sorry for them

This cd meant a lot to me. I was a rebel 16 yr old listening to this forbidden music. Lol. It was a dark time but mix with good memories. I used to eat up anything that had to do with manson; I even got one of the cthulhu tattoos he has in his inner arm or cubital fossa. This and tourniquet where my favorites from this album. And my favorite albums are this one and Hollywood.
