Manson is good at what he does because he's one of those musicians who just knows what a song should sound like. I'm a 70 yr-old grandmother and I've always been a fan. This is still my favorite version of this song.

As a kid of the 80s, Lost Boys was my favorite movie growing up. The MM version of this song is incredible. The remastered original is good but this just has more raw emotion and complexity to it. Love it.

I've waited over 20 years for this man to cover this song. I began listening to him around...92,93? And after seeing him live for the first time in 96 for the Antichrist Superstar album I said to my buddy "if anyone needs to cover 'Cry Little Sister' its this guy.
Fast forward to today, after witnessing this band rule MTV and hard rock through the 90's...thank you so much Marilyn Manson.

Anyone who listens to actual goth bands from the 70s and 80s would not consider this, or 95% of MM's catalog goth music. Which is not to say it's bad, but people tend to correlate imagery with music. As far as imagery, hes definitely got a modern/grotesque spin on the whole goth thing, but as far as his music, it's really not close, nor do I think he intends it to be.

I don't think he EVER sounded this good before.
I mean, his voice sounds pretty much identical to how it sounded in 1991 and he hasn't really learned any new vocal tricks since then, but somehow, there's more soul in this performance than anything else in his entire career.
He sounds more vulnerable than usual. His voice doesn't sound as "put-on" as we're used to. :)

I first heard the Blutengel version of this, which i also like. But this, this is gold! Although it may not be what the whole song is about, when Manson sings the chorus, I always think its my brother calling me to be with him. I lost my brother to suicide 5 years ago. I feel like its him calling to me, to break him free from the hell he was living. Too many times since his death, I did want to follow him. Im the baby sister. My brother and I were very very close. I cant wait until the day I get to see him again! I love you Stephen!

I like most of his covers too but his version of the Ministry classic Stigma on the Atomic Blonde soundtrack didn't add anything to the song and his versions of Tainted Love, You're So Vain and Cat People aren't better than the originals either imo.
That was the first album of his I owned. First song I heard by him tho was man that you fear and I fell in love with his music and metal.
@@christopherbell4543 tainted love is absolutely not better or worse. He made it his own, which is why he's great. When I was a kid I always wanted the new artist to be able to sound just like the original. Now I realize it's so much better to hear a different side of the song from a different artist
