Tonight Im listening to this song in honor of a good friend I called my brother. He showed me this song..This song is all I have left of him. Rest easy brother
i heard this song before i went into long term treatment for heroin addiction and it was cemented in my head for the entire 3 months i was inpatient with no phone... it was stuck in my head the last piece of media before i surrendered to the process... i love this song now.. it pulled me through the darkest time in my life..

6 years ago I was in a deep, deep depression. Something about being told to be face to face to God, but then “I’m face to face with myself” is so enlightening and invigorating to me. It gave me shivers the first time listening
''I went to god just to see, and i was looking at me, saw heaven and hell were lies, when im god everyone...'' -The Reflecting God by Marilyn Manson. That was made quite some time ago by now!
He's saying as we are human we aren't to lose sight of that. When they look in the mirror they see a God. Satan let's this happen that we see ourselves as God because we have the ability to control our future.
I can tell the others inn this thread are young. "ALl ThEsE yEaRs" LMAO. When you kids are in your mid 50's a song that is 6 or 7 years old is still fairly new. 🤣 Ah to be that young again.
In the one minute, important one minute gone. That is how mainstream music works. Artist gi ves them a bone and they chase it. Chew it up and spit it out. All the while, they make their coin, and the artist is left starving.

@@jeffjohnson3897 Your right. Just wait till you hear the same top 40 hits for forty years! Alot of rock and roll came out of the 70's and I love it (class of 1977) but..... After 40 years.... I'm ready for something new and I'm loving the new Alternative music. It doesn't remind me of the past 40 years! It's totally new and as long as a good electric guitar riff is in it, I'm diggin it.
This song proves once again that a song doesn't have to be complex to be utterly fantastic. It's basically just 2 chords the entire way through, but damn if it isn't one of the sweetest sounding songs I've heard in awhile. If you couple a great vocal melody and a good rhythm with a simple chord progression, it can be much greater than the sum of its parts. Actually, musical complexity often (not always) comes at the expense of quality. There's rather often an inverse relationship. Simple yet well composed is the ticket
‘One chord is great, two chords is pushing it, three chords and you’re getting into jazz’ - Lou Reed. That said I love jazz but layering effects and instruments on two chords rocks too.
I don't think any songs are needed to prove what you are saying. 90% of all popular songs ever written are simple. There do exist more complex songs that use a wider range of musical elements which are also good on multiple levels and are to be admired by those who enjoy them. Both are good and neither denies that of the other. Unless its a toxic internet elitist troll (of which there are many lol).
"I'm ready for love and I'm ready for war but I'm ready for more... I know that nobody's ever been this fucking ready before" I've felt this for 34 years and I don't know why but I'm ready

Saw them live at HOB orlando. Wow. 3rd song in I told my husband , " this will be the last time we ever get this close to these guys!" They are Super Stars!! Love them!!
My mom really loved this song and I immediately knew I recognized it when I decided to listen to it today. She passed away in 2021 and I miss her dearly. I find it interesting that I was able to come across this just by chance
I have a song that reminds me of a loved one who passed. My musician husband told me “When we attach a song to someone we no longer have, and that feeling every time we hear it, we have immortalized that person.” Maybe not to the rest of the world, but your mom didn’t mother the world, she mothered you. I hope you smile when hear this song.
"Hello, my name is human, and I came down from the stars." THIS is powerful! Yes baby, you came down from the stars. We're made from the same material... 💫
I feel like trout makes more sense honestly because it's not like bigger rivers are more likely to dry up or something. I mean it's not even like droughts are a thing that ever happens to many rivers outside of dry climates, so I can't see why it would make sense even if you meant "well, when it does eventually happen the drought would be bigger if enough water dissapeared from a big river". While bigger fish in a bigger habitat makes all kinds of sense. It's obviously not literal but the metaphor should still make sense, and as a metaphor the trout line could obviously have plenty of meaning based on the context so I don't really know why it would "turn anyone off" and "drought" fixed it for them. But anyway, are anyone even sure if it's supposed to be trout or drought? Because I'm sure you could hear both now if you try to listen for one or the other.
Just when I lost hope in this new generation of Rock!!! Then I stumble across Highly Suspect!!! I grew up in the 80s and 90's listening to Alice in chains Sublime S.T.P Misfits and now highly suspect Johnny Stevens is brilliant !!!! Keep the Album's coming and I will keep buying them.

I like your perceived way of thinking. I feel it means "don't be a bunny". "Get up off of your knees boys/girls". Being a Psychic Medium closely connected with Spirit and the Universe I feel this is the words of the song. "I know who I am".
@@psychicmediummariaroselue7300 "I'm up off my knees girl (A Robot). I'm face to face with myself( = A Robot). And I know who I am (A Robot) And I stole my power from the sun (Derives being "Rechared" as a way of being "Revived/Brought back to life") "I am more than just a man" (Transhumanism) "No longer Disillusioned" (Infers being happy with what once was thought of as before as a disappointment to self). The song itself (without application to the deeper context of its meaning) is fantastic. As long as people are able to listen to the music specifically, most songs are harmless, but when you search deeper for the "meaning". You can see that there's a dark and evil message. No disrespect to you, but I personally find it hard to believe that you would come away with its meaning being "Don't be a bunny". lol I think I'm perhaps, thinking too much, and you perhaps aren't thinking nearly enough. 🤓👌
At 65, this song will forever represent the day I stopped drowning in the guilt that 60 years of religion had burnt into my soul. Always questioning myself and their version of love one another when all I witnessed was hate for anyone who didn’t look like me or believed what I believed. Thing is, I NEVER believed that version of worth. I would go on to never enter that church again, freely loving all and opening my heart to all beliefs. I’m an old soul now and thankfully I discovered this before I leave this earth. Peace✌️

Not sure I really see the comparison (or likeness, or analogy. Words, right? Whatever works. I don't see the association) but I'm glad you enjoy it and find meaning in it
This song is really trippy to me personally. Guess it's about just really being yourself, believing in yourself. And not thinking you're just pathetic, beating yourself up mentally. In my own life, when I'm really happy, actually acting naturally, I talk really quickly, maybe sounds really strange to most ppl. Like Radiohead says, I talk in maths to some extent. And I maybe don't seem normal or human to others when I'm like this, in my real mode. (Btw met plenty of other ppl that are somewhat similar here. Like my mom has a lifelong friend; I grew up at least occasionally interacting with their kids. They're good ppl, esp the kids; wish I was closer to both of them (even despite the one ridiculing me at least once. He's bi and I get how he prob thought I was a dck. I don't hold any grudges here. He's been very good to me and my mom more recently also.) Anyway the one kid, more or less my peer now of course (he was a little younger than me, don't know my how much, doesn't matter now) was and perhaps prob still is like this. The first time I wound up unexpectedly seeing him as an adult, he was talking to his brother and other friends quickly about something of a technical nature (he was a math and chem major, so we have pretty similar interests there). I did mostly follow what he was talking about, but don't recall the details. Even as a kid, he was like me: was just happy, would talk a lot about anything. Remember him singing that "kiss me" song just out of the blue, no shame, nor should he feel it. (Ironically, you might think he would have wound up gay, rather than his brother, but he really is a lot like me I guess, even tho I don't feel I truly know him, unfortunately. Just being emotional, singing songs doesn't make you gay anyway, of course...but I think most ppl think in stereotypes like that) But anyway he's just like me there. Tho I can tell he kind of restrains himself, speaks very carefully around me, kind of saddens me. But yeah he too is like me here, I can tell. It's not just autism either. (Nothing wrong w that, just saying, I don't think that's it) but yeah sometimes this is, unfortunately, what it's like for smart people. They feel barely human, like they can't really relate to others. Usually, as in my case esp, I try to tone down how I am, spend a ton of energy just trying to sound and look normal. I lit grew up reading the dictionary; avoid using words I would naturally use, for example. Bc you grow up getting bullied, hide your grades to not make others feel lesser, and of course ppl hate on Will Hunting and math students/majors (really should have got an engineering degree, bc I was always just teaching myself math, far beyond the undergrad classes anyway; lit reverse imposter syndrome, as I was acting like I was new to the stuff in class when I wasn't. Really crazy stuff. Anyway I'd have a good job, could still pursue math in my spare time anyway)
This song is Amazing. "The bigger the river, the bigger the draught" reminds me of an Alan Watts lecture where he talks about the Chinese Taijitu getting bigger as a representation of becoming more successful. Just like the river lyric and the Taijitu, this is a true representation of the more you acquire, the more problems come with it. The Taijitu and river both continue to grow making both dual aspects one in the same.
@@Metalheadaches yeah. The lead singer may have been drunk or on something. He looks like he gained some weight as well which is fine, but he could be dealing with some other issues causing it. He didnt treat the crowd well. Proceeded to call parents assholes who brought their kids with them(about 15% of the audience half kids there). And had the audience yell the F word even after asking if kids were there. Stayed for 5 songs to give them a chance, but I had to leave it was so bad. Many others walked away too before I did.

Might be possible they did this to work on people's cognition like the "optical illusions" do : over the course of so many zooms _out,_ your brain gets used to adjusting, so, when the clip stops, the whole screen zooms in instead. I'm just sleptical about the blue tiberium.

The ability to connect with their fans on another level. I finally got to see them last month in ST Louis at Point Fest. I am still in Aww of how kick ass they are
I've been listening to music for 43 years now, too, and found Highly Suspect earlier this year while playing and loving Royal Blood, and I fing adore this group, I would freak out if I could get to see these guys, live music is an undescribably amazing thing to get to be a part of, must've been incredible to be there, and Johnny Stevens is a pretty easy guy to watch while listening to, too, that's quite a beautiful man, 😁 irrelevant, yeah, but not a bad thing, but I've come to find that I haven't played one song of theirs yet, not from any of their albums, that I've felt like I wanted to skip past, not a one, and very few bands have that talent or sound or whatever other word that could be used there to label what happens when real musicians can get together and produce such magic, I mean great shit, like what Highly Suspect gives us, I really REALLY like this group, sorry, music is so important and finding stuff worth getting excited over, and most isn't, most bands but not all are like blah or ok or just good, I think there are bands and then there are groups and those are the real deal I know what I mean by that there's just a thing the really good ones have that most bands are lacking even when the music made, for whatever genre ppl feel must be applied to their sound, is good it's more a feeling of that's good enough but this guy sounds like this guy and that band is definitely whatever the genre happens to be idk I have a way of knowing the ones I'm going to come to love and the ones who are eh like The Neighborhood good but could be so much more maybe and then the Imagine Dragons and Coldplays I don't know how else to explain what I mean but Highly Suspect is one of those "real bands" that everyone needs to hear, all of their music not just what's played for you, they're worth it ☺️
What's up with ppl commenting that ppl need to listen to that band SLT from Highly Suspect videos, I did that and I was like wtf cuz no way are those two groups comparable in that way, they're not at all, I'm sorry I don't like to put down ppls art but, no, no, maybe if you'd quit implying they're equal to or possibly even better than (don't say that, plz, lol) Highly Suspect, or maybe quit doing that with musical groups, altogether, I don't know, then I probably wouldn't be feeling so mean and I was all excited to find a group equal to my Highly Suspect and then just did not, Highly Suspect is making real shit, you can literally hear it, can't you, that there's a difference between the two bands, I mean, idk, I sound rude but I'm not I swear I'm just a little surprised I think it's an opinion do what you will but try The Blue Stones and Royal Blood and Alt J and even Badflower or Nothing But Thieves, more groups like them maybe idk

Talented, lyricly gifted, and musicly crafted... bravo.
In the one minute, important one minute gone. That is how mainstream music works. Artist gi ves them a bone and they chase it. Chew it up and spit it out. All the while, they make their coin, and the artist is left starving.

Flattered
Most people in here have no clue just how deep this song is!!!
Agreed!
@@oliverklozhoff Maybe that's precisely why I gravitate towards great rhythms, melodies, and harmonies. they always sound best to my ear.
I respect the simple stuff but t gave you never listened to TOOL that is a spiritual experience 🌞❤️🎸🎹

This song got me into the band. One line alone did it "the bigger the river, the bigger the drought" God damn, that's so true for so many things.
I thought it was the bigger the river the bigger the trout
@@dannysult4456 me to
I actually thought he said ''the bigger the trout'' the first time I heard this, and was turned off a little bit.... Glad I listened to it again.
i always thought he said TROUT LOL

Right! Cool observation.

Anyway I'd have a good job, could still pursue math in my spare time anyway)

slowly put the calculator down and step away from the seriousness.
The Taijitu and river both continue to grow making both dual aspects one in the same.
bingo
The message in this song runs so damn deep, that no one can hear it.
Perfectly said my friend!
I can.

This band is everything. It's ridiculous that they don't get the recognition they deserve.

I love the song, musically gifted, and enjoy their lyrics, but they were one of the top 3 worst bands I've seen play live. So that could be a reason.
Nick D No way really? I saw them at the grammys and the performance was super cool and raw
Damn that's not cool at all, if they want to do such things at least put an age restriction or something like that

While the jokes about the camera zooming out are hysterical, I feel like its just symbolism to see the bigger picture in things.
I dig the way you think
Might be possible they did this to work on people's cognition like the "optical illusions" do : over the course of so many zooms _out,_ your brain gets used to adjusting, so, when the clip stops, the whole screen zooms in instead. I'm just sleptical about the blue tiberium.
A lot of symbolism in the video as well as different meanings in the song.
@@Velvetspoonful I think the Blue Crystals growing like that are Symbolic of, or Analogous to, Life itself... including Non-Biological Life, and how it Springs up, Sprouts forth, and Grows even without some Magical or Divine Force.

It's the raw emotion. The ability to connect with their fans on another level. I finally got to see them last month in ST Louis at Point Fest. I am still in Aww of how kick ass they are
He'll yeah brother
💯✌️
