Mechanical Animals is possibly the most overlooked and underappreciated album of the '90s. Most people never got past "The Dope Show" and "I Don't Like the Drugs", but the entire album was impeccably produced, to a sheen really, by design. Every song exudes this plastic glam sound that perfectly evokes the themes of the album. Even it's packaging, in the aqua blue CD case was an important part of the package. It's only minor flaw might be that it's never very subtle, but that's just nitpicking. It didn't sound like anything else at the time, or anything after, and it's by far his best work. Holy Wood mined the same territory, but his star and influence had waned as a result of the bogus Columbine accusations, and that album become nothing so much as a soundtrack response to that event. Mechanical Animals is still endlessly listenable and filled with amazing hooks and riffs.
Mechanical Animals has always been my favorite Manson album. Musically, his most interesting and original work up until now. His later albums (post Holy Wood era) more feel like Marilyn Manson trying to do a Marilyn Manson parody...

man it's really hard to come back to this, knowing shit we were going through and the hell Marilyn was being put to, before i wrote this, my tears started raining from remembering the times he saved me from myself back there. he's 55y now and for the last 2 days of his new self i think he actually came back. healed. looking & sounding 30 again and honestly, these tears now are true happines for him, when the last shocking thing he could do today is to come back as his true self. thank you for speaking up when i was scared and thank you for fighting the side of myself i was afraid of. always your fan
So many Christians criticized and attacked him , but he saved many people and gave us a voice with his art and music, including me , the abused , the bullied , the ostracized ,the rejected ,the suicidal, those suffering from health issues or mental , no god ever helped me , it was people like Marilyn Manson who did !

This song LITERALLY saved my life! 14 years ago this song saved my life! If it wasn't for this man I would literally be dead. Thank you Marilyn Manson. If it wasn't for you I would not be alive right now ❤️
I grew up listening to Marilyn Manson growing up while in College and like you their music kept me sane. I'm glad you made it through those tough times Caitlyn. Hugs!
God helped you, not this idiot, this pedophile. I know what I'm saying, I was an atheist, now I pray to God and I'm super happy and without depression. I don't need the dumb music. Good music makes your soul happy. The apocalypse is coming
This track deserves so much more gratitude. If you ask me, it's a masterpiece not only musical but also the video. I still love it after all those years
Jody Burton Amazing! My mum has been listening to Manson ever since she was 16, and she still loves his music, even at 37. She also went to Leeds festival with her friends to see him live for the mechanical animals tour in 1998, and she obviously had a very nice time. I assume she also got to meet Manson and take a picture with him. So here I am, at 13 years old, and listening to his music.
Kelvin Vazquez That's some awesome stuff there. My mother has been listening to Manson since she was 16 years old, and like her, I also love Manson, even though I'm thirteen, and I became one of the Mansonites in October of last year. My mum's 37 now. She still loves his music, exactly how she loves me, her firstborn child. Marilyn Manson forever 💖
This… this is people at the peak of their art. Untouchable. This record knocked my head off at 12 years old and it’s still over in the corner kicking it around today.
Man, Mechanical Animals was one, if not the most, original, creative, sentimental and truly artistic of Manson's eras... Not the heaviest, but the most enjoyable in my oppinion
I’m black and I listen to this guy and a few other bands more than the rap shit, smh I find pain and misery in music to be truly fulfilling and therapeutic.. most music doesn’t give you that raw emotion anymore

This man has become a beacon shining around me ever since I was 12 and I began asking questions that adults couldn't or didn't want to answer. I'm now 40 and his art reaches deep inside as it always has. Those questions were the important ones because after all these years they're still unanswered.
Absolutely!!! Recently got into MM. He is one of the most subversive and intelligent rock stars of all time. He has volumes to say about American culture and contemporary society that many people dismiss before they even hear it because of his cosmetic image and artistic approach. To flawlessly reenact a presidential assassination as he and Rose did shocks and amazes me. He deserves a massive level of respect and praise that some artists could only dream of. Coma White has become my favorite song of his lately and it is an excellent way to close out the 14 track social commentary machine that is Mechanical Animals.
Wow, when I found him, I was 12 or something like this and he was my first favourite singer at all. And I still realy love him, because in music world isn't anybody like him. Marilyn Manson is just one!
Marilyn Manson is one of the few artists whose songs can make you feel something, I hope he continues to make real music for us for a very long time. Thank you so much!
I swear, Marilyn Manson has changed my life I can’t even say how much he got me through everything from depression, divorce. I truly love Marilyn Manson with compassion I own every album this is my favorite Marilyn Manson song and he is so intelligent Marilyn, if you see this, I absolutely love you and your music so does everyone in the comments #marilynmansoncore
I'm a big fan . I think Marilyn Manson is a visionary . His music is different and his videos are bold . There no artists like him these days and I think that we really need that. I really love him . But when I tell this to people , they think I'm a freak... Well, maybe I am.
+lena25 Die Antwoord makes a different genre of music, but they are definitely bold and visionary. One of the best artists of these days in my opinion.
Menime That's what I love. He sliced off Donald Trump's head in a music video and all the Trump fans lost their shit. Manson doesn't give a fuck. Love that.
PESETA BOUNTY HUNTER It was all over the news. Here you go. Also, the part where he is holding the head is quick flashes but you have to pause it. His beheaded body is also laying there with blood bleeding from the neck. It was a preview to his new album. Love that he and Eminem don't give a shit to call out douchebags like that. Enjoy brother. ruclips.net/video/qKOdloZOxIo/видео.html
Ghillie720 Nooo, he didn’t say that. And if you pause it at the right moment you can see his severed head, lol. Also, cash is a poor man’s money is saying a lot. Manson isn’t into right wing Christian conservatism. You either get it, or ya don’t.
Manson is so underrated. It's a shame people judge by his appearance and after all these years think of him because of the columbine shootings. Seeing him live for the first time this September.
He was awesome back in these days man. I was hardcore into him once smells like children came out. Super fan status for real back then lol. Seen him 11 times and met him once
The production of his albums get better and better over time. Although his real prime was during Antichrist, his best works are his last two albums which means that his next albums yet to come will be even greater. Marilyn Manson has fully matured and so have you, which means that you are right on time upon discovering his music only now !!
I started listening to Marilyn Manson very “late”. I’m in the mid 20s now. I had issues with accepting myself as the human being I am before, but Manson somehow gives me the strength to do it. That’s why I admire him so badly. I never had such a strong connection to the rock/metal genre than anything else before.

I get to see so many people that still are what you used to be so don't ever think that you can't go back with the music right? That's where I am with it...he gives me a peace of peace
All my friends were into him back in the mid 90s when we were teenagers. Now I'm almost forty and have recently rediscovered his music. It definitely gives me the strength to say f**k the world and own each day.
U are so correct! The appearance doesn't matter its the words that count! Yes many ppl judge metal bands such as slipknot, for their appearance, if they could just hear the words , it will change their minds!
Sorg616 I am a Christian and i feel like this song is talking to his fans who want to end there lives the first pill will take away the pain the second pill will make u do something stupid and the third pill to u someone ur not just bc someone hates the u r doesn't mean u need to change anything about urself bc u r happy who u r that's what i think this song is talking about
Sorg616 I agree but there r somethings I don't agree that r in the bible but I see that ppl say that they r fine but if u look in there eyes they r not fine
I didn't like him when I was younger. I guess the gimmick distracted me from the message and the melody. But as I grow older and more mature I appreciate his music more and more. He is a great songwriter.
Is it wrong to say Marilyn Manson actually have saved my life more Than once? All the times Where I was inches from giving up and giving in to the Pain, Manson would help me turn The Pain inside out, help me to let those tears flow and clean out my system.. The anger, the hate, the Feeling of never being good enough.. All that did Manson help me cope with.. As said, i honestly think I wouldnt be alive today, right now, if it wasnt for the music of Marilyn Manson.. He helped me when i had no one else (Least no one who could understand and relate to that pain)
@@SortenRavn That is my point. If those guys listened to space girs they wouldn't even have mentioned it. Also, in the midst of such a tragedy, did you really believe that Manson's music pushed you to do that? It's really ridiculous. Instead of blaming the parents or the school, they took it upon themselves to dirty a musician. But anyway, that's the way the media is and at that time Marilyn was at the center of criticism.

Marilyn Manson is so close to reality that I sometimes feel there is no purpose of living life. Our coming to consciousness is a coincidence and not some divine plan.
Something is cold and blank behind her smile She's standing on an overpass In her miracle mile 'Cause You were from a perfect world A world that threw me away today Today, today, to run away A pill to make you numb A pill to make you dumb A pill to make you anybody else But all the drugs in this world Won't save her from herself Her mouth was an empty cut And she was waiting to fall Just bleeding like a Polaroid that Lost all her dolls You were from a perfect world A world that threw me away today Today, today, to run away A pill to make you numb A pill to make you dumb A pill to make you anybody else But all the drugs in this world Won't save her from herself A pill to make you numb A pill to make you dumb A pill to make you anybody else But all the drugs in this world Won't save her from herself You were from a perfect world A world that threw me away today A pill to make you numb A pill to make you dumb A pill to make you anybody else But all the drugs in this world Won't save her from herself A pill to make you numb A pill to make you dumb A pill to make you anybody else But all the drugs in this world Won't save her from herself
Punkrock Baby In 1921, the stretch of Wilshire Boulevard now known as the Miracle Mile was a 20-foot-wide dirt road, flanked by oil wells and barley fields. Today, the strip is a busy thoroughfare, home to museums, the La Brea Tar Pits, and a collection of historic Art Deco structures. The story of the Miracle Mile's stunning transformation from cow path to commercial artery - told through selected images from the region's photographic archives - is part of the larger narrative of L.A.'s decentralization, as electric railways and automobiles encouraged sprawl and drained the downtown retail district of its vitality.
I was going through a really difficult time with my mental health being suicidal and really self conscious. This song predicted the next generation of pill abusing youth culture - Brian Warner is a top tier artist and like most artists is tapped into a higher perspective of what is all around us all. This dude is still so revered as a persona - he might not live to see the day when he is viewed as a totem of philosophical and religious commentary of our present age of humanity. My teenage years were made wiser through these lyrics. My emotional rage was made more focused through these insane guitar riffs. The outfits, the looks - it all blew my mind. This was my favorite band in high school and looking back as an adult, holy shit - they are even more amazing than I realized.
I've found Manson a few days ago and I'm deeply concerned that his art and music is the highest tier I could even imagine. I was thinking about what I see that Manson made real... I find it as a peak of conceptual artistic vision that is guaranteed to be great. I'm a fan now.
That's the flex of vocals. Just as an artist of the pen and paintbrush can make a message with a stroke of the pen/paintbrush how you excersize your vocals and carry them also carries a message.
Marylin Manson is a certified legend and that has lived to his badass status. Coma White is a brilliant example of the amazement of Marylin Manson and how this shows just incredible his passion and talent for music actually is. Marylin Manson is the defintion brilliant and has grounded himself as such through hsrd work and has earned his success and has formed a legacy that will echo through the cosmos for a long time as the Marylin Manson identity won't fade away and hopefully he keeps rocking with enjoyment wherever he is.

This'll always be that song for me, the one which whenever I listen to it I feel like I'm outta here, I'm in somewhere else, floating on my thoughts, just vibing on my own. I feel really connected to the lyric as well. It's the whole package for me. Don't matter what happens, I can't never turn back from what I'm today thanks to Manson. Honestly I don't know and not care if it's a good or bad thing. Maybe I enjoy his work cause we're both weirdos. 🤫
Im a huge Manson fan and listen to his music everyday especially whenever I’m working. My girlfriend hated Manson and his music with a passion. One day I get home from work and I hear this song playing and it’s my girlfriend cleaning and listening to Manson. I’m like wth? She said me playing his music everyday it kinda grew onto her and she never listened to the messages he’s actually talking about in his music cause she was more focused on the the dark gimmick or character he portrays. Now she’s a fan and sees him for his art. You’re welcome Mansion you gained another fan😂😂😂
Back in the day, I was in art college and I had a Symbolism in Art class, where I was allowed to chose whatever I wanted as my final presentation. I got my hands on the VHS of the collected music videos, and played this song in front of my whole class, then dissected the video to explain how it equated Catholic religious rituals with American Culture, referencing drug use as a mere facade for coping and surviving with a greater, systemic evil. I'm pretty sure I alienated a lot of people, but I felt so proud of my 18 year old self in that moment.
He is genius and Intelligent. Most of all>>>Vocally, he is one of the best singer/vocalist. Especially, on Live Show. His vocal chord is so good and also the lyrics is deep and great.. Damn, All the goods are inside him.. Born talented with Hardworking = Unbeatable........
Without a doubt his most prestigious, thoughtful, artistic, and cinematically amazing music video he's ever done. I remember before MTV sold out my generation, I'd stay up to watch it. (why the hell couldn't you two be around in 1999?)

I remember seeing him on August second... Good ass times. He played this song last, and I started crying my eyes out. This song has so much meaning. And I swear, I heard his voice shattering bit too.
+Harley Quinn What meaning, its just a hangover song, capturing the feeling of emptiness, thats all, for me, but i admit to not beeing particularly interested in his lyrics not as a teenager, not now and i am pretty sure he doesn't care about that aspect of his work as much either.
Max Power That's understandable. But he does. indeed, care about what he writes in music. I mean, it is his career, after all. Music is such a beautiful art form. Its an escape from reality. And even if there is no meaning, you give it a meaning. Which is why its such a beautiful art.
+Harley Quinn Maybe i don't even see him that much as a musician but a complete artist, i think he can and does put his personal mark on everything he touches and although i really don't follow him that closely i hope he continues reinventing himself in art, the music is well done and certainly has appeal but it doesn't touch me at all, his mannerisms though, his styles and poses keep creeping and amazing the piss out of me and are the thing i really appreciate about marilyn manson, i see you do too :)
I’m so thankful to have grown up listening to this man. He and Twiggy were big influence in my early goth phase (still going btw 😝) going from a 6-7 year old kid to my 30’s I’m still blasting this album. Thank you Marilyn for giving us our voices and listening to us.

man it's really hard to come back to this, knowing shit we were going through and the hell Marilyn was being put to, before i wrote this, my tears started raining from remembering the times he saved me from myself back there. he's 55y now and for the last 2 days of his new self i think he actually came back. healed. looking & sounding 30 again and honestly, these tears now are true happines for him, when the last shocking thing he could do today is to come back as his true self. thank you for speaking up when i was scared and thank you for fighting the side of myself i was afraid of. always your fan
you can really just feel the pain. I love this song
Hated with Antichrist loved with this
Not really because of the effected way mason sings but I enjoy the song
I tear up everytime it is a beautiful song
Ellie's Art Aw yeah, me too. Marilyn is totally awesome.

So many Christians criticized and attacked him , but he saved many people and gave us a voice with his art and music, including me , the abused , the bullied , the ostracized ,the rejected ,the suicidal, those suffering from health issues or mental , no god ever helped me , it was people like Marilyn Manson who did !
as a True Christian. I find your statement ironic. May you receive all the blessings you deserve!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@bobtony6036 How is their statement ironic? Saying it is "ironic" and not giving a reason as to why you said so is fucking stupid because then it sounds like you are pulling words out of your ass. Just say why, my guy, it's not that hard.
He's pretty traditional in his personal life, as it goes.
Agreed man!!! Well said ❤️
Stop attacking Christians they have the right to pray to whomever they please. Have a good day!
This song LITERALLY saved my life! 14 years ago this song saved my life! If it wasn't for this man I would literally be dead. Thank you Marilyn Manson. If it wasn't for you I would not be alive right now ❤️
hope you are okay now🙏
I grew up listening to Marilyn Manson growing up while in College and like you their music kept me sane. I'm glad you made it through those tough times Caitlyn. Hugs!

I've been listening to Marilyn for a couple of years now I'm almost 50 I think he is one of the most talented musicians there is. Have open mind
Yes! One amongst many. Check out Dax Riggs
Im 41 now, been listening to him since 1997
Jody Burton Amazing!
This record knocked my head off at 12 years old and it’s still over in the corner kicking it around today.
you know that it´s an awesome song, if you can hear it 10 times in a row without getting sick.
haah I did read the same comment under another song.
Mechanical Animals is one of the best rock albums of all time.
true!!
No is rock, is metal industrial
absolutely
It's definitely up there. I'd even argue it's top 10.
My favorite album ever.
Man, Mechanical Animals was one, if not the most, original, creative, sentimental and truly artistic of Manson's eras...
Not the heaviest, but the most enjoyable in my oppinion
I agree. The whole story behind the album is intricate and well thought out.
Not that original. It was basically Bowies Ziggy Stardust.
At least he got quality influences
Thats because most of the songs where made by John and Twiggy, most of the bands best songs were made by these 2 or Daisy (and some Pogo too).
does any one no what these lyrics are s something about washing up on beach of cocaine is Manson song one of them
Best concert theatrics ive seen in a long time .im 59 and love marilyn manson .outstanding performer.....xo

"All the drugs in this world won't save her from herself" - THIS IS A FUCKIN' MASTERPIECE
Nick Rose I couldn't have said it better, my friend: one of the most intelligent and genial rock stars ever.
StephenGioKing Without a doubt.

That thought sounds very familiar hahaha.
No, all rock bands/singers make real music. 🤘
That voice... That emotion.... The melody.... Still one of my favorites.

I'm a big fan . I think Marilyn Manson is a visionary . His music is different and his videos are bold . There no artists like him these days and I think that we really need that. I really love him . But when I tell this to people , they think I'm a freak... Well, maybe I am.
+lena25 Freaks are cool :)
we are all freaks in some way
+lena25 Die Antwoord makes a different genre of music, but they are definitely bold and visionary. One of the best artists of these days in my opinion.
+lena25 if you like MM, you should check out The Pretty Reckless
I love this stuff.....I'll be a freak with ya ✌
this man is a genius, love him, the fact he doesn't give a flying FUCK about what anyone thinks of him and be able to be his own style is awesome
Menime That's what I love. He sliced off Donald Trump's head in a music video and all the Trump fans lost their shit. Manson doesn't give a fuck. Love that.
PESETA BOUNTY HUNTER
It was all over the news.
Here you go. Also, the part where he is holding the head is quick flashes but you have to pause it. His beheaded body is also laying there with blood bleeding from the neck. It was a preview to his new album. Love that he and Eminem don't give a shit to call out douchebags like that. Enjoy brother.

PESETA BOUNTY HUNTER No prob!

Never too late... MM is timeless

U are so correct! The appearance doesn't matter its the words that count! Yes many ppl judge metal bands such as slipknot, for their appearance, if they could just hear the words , it will change their minds!

He helped me when i had no one else

@@SortenRavn That is my point. If those guys listened to space girs they wouldn't even have mentioned it. Also, in the midst of such a tragedy, did you really believe that Manson's music pushed you to do that? It's really ridiculous. Instead of blaming the parents or the school, they took it upon themselves to dirty a musician. But anyway, that's the way the media is and at that time Marilyn was at the center of criticism.
I dont think bach and mozart did these awfull things to their girlfriends

A pill to make you anybody else
But all the drugs in this world
Won't save her from herself
Her mouth was an empty cut
And she was waiting to fall
Just bleeding like a Polaroid that
Lost all her dolls
You were from a perfect world
A world that threw me away today
Today, today, to run away
A pill to make you numb
A pill to make you dumb
A pill to make you anybody else
But all the drugs in this world
Won't save her from herself

This has and always will be my favorite song, so beautiful and I love his art.
It’s a lyrical masterpiece

Max Power That's understandable. But he does. indeed, care about what he writes in music. I mean, it is his career, after all. Music is such a beautiful art form. Its an escape from reality. And even if there is no meaning, you give it a meaning. Which is why its such a beautiful art.
+Harley Quinn Maybe i don't even see him that much as a musician but a complete artist, i think he can and does put his personal mark on everything he touches and although i really don't follow him that closely i hope he continues reinventing himself in art, the music is well done and certainly has appeal but it doesn't touch me at all,

I bought "Mechanical Animals" exactly thursday 24 December 1998 with my first pay (I write from Italy) I remember that there were record stores and I paid exactly 38,000 lire (currently € 18.00).
Today I hugged and kissed a woman and in the meantime this song rang in my head.
Oh nothing, since I grew up with Marilyn Manson's music I wanted to set this date...
Peace to you!

Crediamo in Marilyn Manson. Stammi Bene!
Hearing stories like yours is so cool. You and I both lived through this album in our own ways and that is beautiful
