- Also known as Grand Convoy from Transformers Superlink fans often refer to this figure as Fatimus Prime by fans due to it's rather bulbous robot design.
It is my personal opinion that this figure is one of the dumbest Opimus figures we have every had.
After he defeated Megatron in Armada, Optimus really let himself go.
Megaton sacrificed himself. Optimus didn’t defeat him.

Probably he is regretting letting Galvatron to die and get kinda depressed soon he eat too much now he became fat
The reason why he looks fat is because of the design for his super mode has to make his regular arms and legs to be able to fit the parts that go to them. That’s just how it’s supposed to be design unfortunately otherwise he’ll have bigger bulky arms and bulky legs and a skinny body in his super mode that wouldn’t look balance at all.

Loving finding these older figures on your channel! The unicorn trilogy were the first figures I bought on my own as an adult. Makes me feel real old looking back now at how long ago these came out

Optimus got depressed from the guilt of megatron dying and he ate his sorrow away. not to mention over the war he bingwatched Netflix to add to the cause. that is why he is fat.
The "satellite" part in vehicle mode is meant to fold forwards over the head. It can also be placed out of sight behind the back.
He does have a gun that can be stored on his back.
The orange hand can move in and out. When it's folded inwards, you can take the middle hand cover piece and fold it inwards behind where the hand normally is.
The standard formation for the limb attachments is very similar to switches 1-4 on Kamen Rider Fourze.
So the digger is earth
The firetruck is fire
The chopper is wind
The sub is of course water
Does that mean that Optimus is heart?

Since the newest Optimus is Armada as a commander class, I feel like they're building up to a remake of this figure as a Titan class. It'd be the best way to distribute the weight evenly. Figure would be a dream come true as someone that missed the figure the first time around.

I remember when I was in my teens watching this. When I've been seeing Optimus Prime using his four drones to combine with him as arms and legs, I've been wanting the toy because I've always liked the drones the best. Fire One combine! Copter Two combine! Digger Three combine! Submarine Four combine! I'd do anything to get the Transformers Energon Optimus Prime toy again.

Why didn't Unite Warriors/Combiner Wars make a combiner set to resemble this? The team would've been a repaint of Prime as Grand Convoy, A repaint of Rook as the OP 1 Drone, A repaint of Alpha Bravo as the OP 2 Drone, A retool of the Alpha Bravo mold as a Submarine to be the OP 4 Drone, and the repaint of the Takara Nosecone as the OP 3 Drone.

The transformation is just like G1 Optimus. But the combined mode is awesome!
the main thing to think about with the energon series of transformers is at that time they were supposed to be "Semi but not entirely" futuristic vehicles while I do agree he was sooo oddly proportioned for a robot they were still an alright line of figures the only problems I really had were that the powerlinx figures often had pieces that would break with little to no pressure on them.

Cheeky Optimus is what it looks like you have. The original one, it was replaced by faceplate Optimus shortly after. He should come with a gun that launches a missiles like most of the Energon weapons.
The fire vehicle is Fire1, the helicopter is Copter2, the drill digger is Digger3, and the submarine is Submarine4

You have the weirdest luck with Unicron Trilogy figures. Your Armada prime blew up and your Energon Prime is some kind of weird defect. I remember the one I got as a kid had a gun and a plate instead of a mouth.

The Year Of The Snake Platinum Edition Optimus Prime is SO much better than this prime. I mean color wise and it has a better head sculpt so it does look better.

We need a remolded masterpiece . I know tje Energon was bad, but this combiner had potential. It would have been cool to see this guy during the combiner wars toyline, a whole new mold as well.

My biggest gripe with the Unicron trilogy figures is that their vehicle modes all look like robots doing yoga. None of the vehicles look cohesive and just a robot with limbs folded up. I think that most of this is because unlike G1 inspired actual vehicles, there’s no impetus to design the vehicle mode in a tight way
Another reason for him looking like that is probably the truck mode cuz it would be hard to make a better proportioned robot mode cuz of the shape of the truck
The Super Mode helmet isn't supposed to stick up in vehicle mode. It's supposed to be folded back. And he IS supposed to have a gun.
Japanese version has a gun.

In retrospective I'm glad I didn't buy this figure. And it was a surprise to me that it didn't have any weapon. I was complaining of power of the prime figures that just have a set of feet. Now I understand it is a homage to this one.

When I bought this figure years ago and started to fiddle with it,I wasn't thinking Optimus Prime. I was thinking Power Rangers Thunder Megazord. So I took it back. Now I wanna get this one again.
Oh I'd also like to point out you have the windscreen of the fire truck go between the hand and roof of the fire truck. You can do this by folding the the hand down and folding the flap up into the opening created.
Energon optimus and omega supreme were repainted in the year of the snake in transformers platinum edition.
Energon prime is very oddly shaped. I never could really get into energon and armada. Cybertron was better. The whole unicorn series was just outlandish and hard to follow. Terrible dialog and animation was not consistant
I think we can all agree that Energon Prime design is by far the worst Prime design.

You missed a step when turning rescue 1 and chopper 2 into arms. You forgot to fold out the wrist away from the front windshield, fold the windshield where the hand was, and fold the hand back.
Does not have to be coincidence. Could have been an intentional homage on the part of Fourze's designer.
To be 100% honestly I would only buy it for the drone vehicles.
