Ohtani is the best all around baseball player to ever live......that will be true in 5 years or less. He's amazing at everything! Zero chinks in the armor.. He's got BA, OPS, Slugging, Speed, Steals, Strikeout rates as pitcher, BA against as Pitcher, ect. Dude is the entire package.
Ohtani his a 453’ home run tonight that went right down the tunnel way up in right field. I’m going to see Ohtani tomorrow at Petco and every time I see him he blows my mind.
the fact that he's better at batting in one season and at pitching in another season and the fact that some analysists say he's a better batter and others say he's a better pitcher really prove he's a real TWP.
They have Ohtani videos from his outfieldinf days in Japan The guy can a canyon of an arm and very accurate. Plays the ball off the wall like a seasoned vet The guy can do everything
If you are interested in shohei Ohtani, I recommend reading "9x9, 81-square strategic matrix" he wrote when he was 16 years old high school boy. In it, he describes his own goals as a baseball player at the age of 16, the eight keywords for each of the eight challenges he faced, and the eight goals he had to overcome to achieve them. In addition to specific issues to be solved to improve his pitching skills, the book also describes his mental strength, body building to become a professional, and human goals, as well as the specific solutions he came up with on his own plan. Frankly, I am amazed that a 16-year-old boy thought of this on his own, and also amazed at the level of baseball education in Japan that allowed him to write this himself and actually made him put it into practice on his own. And I am amazed that everything he says and does now as a major league player is connected to each element of this scenario. Please read it once. Because you will see the real, true picture of Shohei. He is blessed with natural qualities and DNA, but it was his own willpower to analyze weakpoint of himself, set his direction, and practice self-improvement that made him as the great player he is today. In other words, even his current well-endowed body is the result of his own training, his own diet, and his own body modification plan which he has spent the past 12 years from 16 building into a large body and his mental strength. Part of this plan was already written on his goal sheet at the age of 16. This is an incredible and astonishing fact, but it is true! Rather than marveling at him and evaluating him as good or bad, I think it is more important to understand the reality of what he has done and overcame himself to become the man he is today. I believe that everything is not a coincidence and that there are reasons and causes for the facts that happened. Maybe you can find out why he is not playing baseball for money and what his real goals are, who he is, after reading it. He is the result not only of God's grace, but also of his intentional self-improvement of his God-given mental and physical condition so that he can play an active role in baseball pitching and hitting. Shohei Ohtani was not born perfect, nor was he created by anyone overnight. His physique, muscle quality, and core balance did not come naturally to him, but are the result of 12 years of self-evaluation of his own physical and mental characteristics from the age of 16 to now 28, working daily to improve his muscle strength, stamina, core balance ability, and flexibility. He has made his own self-improvement plan, and he has achieved it. We must not forget that.
I feel like NBA had changed quite a bit in the past few years, and players are being pretty much position-less. Maybe this is what’s happening in MLB as well, and Shohei Ohtani is the prime example. Pitchers can DH or maybe do a base running. Batters can do both in-field, out-field, or even a catcher. That could make baseball much more fun.
@@Pler1978 I understand what you mean but the defensive restriction is such an annoying component, and I don’t think it’s too hard to resolve. Mookie Betts has been able to do both outfield and infield pretty well. I have seen infielders doing outfield in a few times, and they did it pretty well too. They just need to practice more like Shohei Ohtani.
Anybody who followed him in Japan wouldn’t be surprised by what he’s doing now, what is surprising is the impact he is having on youngsters and team’s attitudes to multi-skilled players. This will be the legacy going forwards, and Shohei will be right at the top.

If Shohei did not struggle with his pitching he could’ve easily win the cy young. He needs to step it up its still up for grabs, Valdez and Cole is the only people on his way.
One MLB rule many people don't consider is that 2-way players like Ohtani don't count towards the 13 pitcher limit on a team roster. Hence, the Angels are the only MLB team with 14 pitchers. Imagine if the league reduced this limit to 12, 11 or only 10 dedicated pitchers? Would more teams start encouraging pitchers that can hit to continue improving their batting? Would they see thatbp right fielder with a cannon arm that used to pitch in high school as a potential reliever? Would we start seeing Bumgarner at the plate again? At what point would we start seeing teams start thinking about the advantages of having a 2-way player on the team allowing them to have an extra dedicated pitcher on the roster? I think moving to the DH is overall a good move, but it would be great to see pitchers batting again, even if they aren't at Ohtani's level.
With his insane workload and lack of days off, the fact that he avoids the injured list and does not any miss games is proof enough that he is not using steroids. But I'm sure he is tested like everyone else. How do you think they caught Tatis Jr.
The Japanese attach great importance to high moral standards to demand themselves. Otani spends more time training than other players. I think he deserves it. There is no possibility of any accidents. Blessings from Taiwan😊
There is ZERO chance he's taking steroids. It's because of culture... there is no worse shame than losing face in Asian culture, and because of that, no Asian player would ever consider it.
Ohtani's base running really is a thing a beauty.

That would lead to a bunch of errors. A muscular guy playing second base or shortstop lol, maybe first base at max or outfield.

An Ace pitcher leads the majors in HRs RBIs and OPS, and as a pitcher has the lowest batting average allowed and 3rd in Ks, truly a Unicorn.
