“There’s no damage you can do that hasn’t already been done, trust me”
That’s…an understatement
He knows.
It was very sad truth.
Charles basically saw Logan directly taking the atomic bomb
Especially with the level of levity with which he says it.
They did send the right man
Even at his lowest Charles is absolutely floored by the pain Logan has felt in his lifetime .
@@Hi_how_r_u_ 2 lifetimes but still... xD lifetimes is correct
Logan still represents alot of the people who go through some real difficult times in their lives.

@@csguak You'll die messy otherwise. Not much of an alternative.
Gotta love how empathetic Charles is. Even when he is at his lowest, when he saw Logan's life, he instantly felt for him.
Honestly tho I'm sure most people would. Willing to bet if a holocaust survivor like Erik was given the chance to witness it like Charles here did, even he would floored
Who wouldn’t
Logan has suffered in ways a man wasn’t meant to
Wolverine ha sufrido muchísimo más que Magneto
Like even Spiderman can't believe that how captain America can go through his darkness
Wolverine is almost 300 years old. This man has went through hell
2:35
"Oh... you poor, poor man."
Best way to describe Wolverine's story. The most heartbreaking thing about it though is that Charles just looked into Logan worst and most painful memories, and Logan didn't even flinch. He truly is broken inside.
Logan would be reliving those memories with Charles tapping into them and he's like "Stop looking there, you d*psh*t, look for yourself." 😂
" (...) Charles just looked into Logan worst and most painful memories, and Logan didn't even flinch. He truly is broken inside." - 💔💔💔
@@MrRockUniverse thanks for that couldn’t read that part myself

It's very painful to see Logan's memory's. It's like there's no happy ending for him.
His ending is that he finally experienced the end (knowing what death feels like) and saw the future before him redeemed (X-23 not being like him for a future generation)

Writing like this is why this film is easily the best X-Men film ever.
The sheer amount of both trust and loyalty Logan shows Charles here...
I have a feeling it wasn't like anything Charles had yet experienced.
I love how this film has a flashback for every X-Men movie released before it
X-Men - The scene where Jean talks to Logan on the medical table
X2 - The scene where Jean greets Logan walking down the stairs
X-Men: The Last Stand - When Logan kills Jean
X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Logan having his procedure and Sabretooth breaking his claws
X-Men: First Class - Xavier and Mystique talking in the kitchen
The Wolverine: Logan cutting out his mutation dampener as well as seeing burnt logan from Hiroshima
Actually to procedure scenes to me look like they're also from X2 mixed with Origins version of the event because he's more bloody in the flashbacks unlike in Origins where he wasn't. Sabretooth breaking his claws though is absolutely from Origins, you're right
@@alexandernickaboine4798 i know the last stand isn't perfect but it's still a really good movie with awesome stuff

I always thought that this was a great scene in the entire series. Logan was one of Xaviers most helpless students and Xavier's power gave him the ability to understand Logans unique struggles and perspectives. This moment allowed Logan the opportunity to, in his own way, return the favor to the man he values and respects most in the world. It allowed Logan the chance to be more than just the muscle for Charles, but to be a mentor to him.
I always took it the other way out of all the x men Logan and summers are the only ones who are “broken” and can’t be “fixed” by him it always seemed more cruel to me to have them around students and fellow x men he can help. To better explain Cyclops’s lack of control is not mental like Rogue he has brain damage that has destroyed his powers off switch no matter how hard he trains no matter how many sessions he has with the professor he will never be able to control his power. Now for Wolverine he has so much mental trauma that unlike wolf bane or his clone/daughter x 23 that he will more then likely never be able to regain his memory’s or be able to cage the berserker he created to be able to survive
James McAvoy's performance is very genuine, you can see him feeling all that pain
James Mcavoy did a great job a young professor X. And Hugh Jackman will forever be Wolverine
2:40 I love that line "No I don't want your Suffering I don't want your FUture" how he delivers that last word especially 👉
Logan is easily one of the saddest characters ever written in fiction imo. Even after the timeline reset, he, I believe, was the only one who remembered the past. And a greater irony that he has a healing factor which is symbolic of him going through a never ending cycle of pain and healing from his memories again and again.
His healing his memories is forgetting. Forgetting his past is part of his mutant powers in the comics. That's how he stays sane for so long through everything.
@@michellemariejanewalsh5302he lost his memory from an adamantium bullet, before that it was fine for hundreds of years.

Logan is beautiful
Wolverine learned one thing from being a member of the X-Men:
To use your pain to become stronger and help people.
“You poor, poor man.”
“Look past me.”
No pause, no hesitation. This is Logan’s most heroic moment. No claws, no barrage, no cigar, no tough guy platitudes. This is it.
He gets it. In the moment. Right now. His entire, torturous life laid out bare with the one role model he ever really had validating EVERY OUNCE of his personal issues…
And Logan doesn’t even blink. This isn’t about him. This is about everyone else. Do not pass Go; do not collect $200…
“Look past me.”
Good way of pointing that out. Real difference of a hero.
Also, I would add Charles saying “I don’t want your future” is really what the problem was. Was still hiding, pretending like there was nothing to act on.
(I do disagree that this would happen to Charles. Charles helps people who struggle with loss but struggled himself with abandonment? Idk odd writing)
I've seen a few people mention that Logan doesn't move, flinch, or blink. I haven't watched the movies, but was Logan meant to be going through pain right here?? I'm genuinely curious.
@@BlueBamboo9 in this scene, it's just his memories, but they are all incredibly painful moments from other films, so yeah I guess his memories could cause pain, not physical pain though. Also, when Charles looks into people's minds, they see what he sees as well, so Logan will have been forced to face his worst memories and didn't flinch or even blink, showing how strong he is mentally as well as physically. Hope this helped😁
@@Mischief157 This helped TREMENDOUSLY, thank you!!🎉⛄
Beautiful insight, beautiful comment. 100% agree. We need more heroes in fiction who get (understatedly) selfless moments like this.
I love how Xavier's first response to Logan's trauma, despite his own suuferring and addiction, is not rejection and horror... it is empathy and compassion and sorrow on his behalf.
2:10 *"theres no damage you can do that hasn't already been done!"*
~logan
the thing about logan is that he's always been carrying all those traumatic memories and thinks about them constantly. so xavier just making him remember it all did nothing. logan has been through so much hurt... physically, mentally and emotionally... that he's become the true definition of "pain is an old friend".
Says a lot about Logan/Wolverine that these are the first mental images Charles/Professor X sees when reading his mind. The fact that he hasn't gone completely insane by now is a small miracle.
having seen wolverine first time in the x men prequel, i didnt expect him to be so kind. sure a bit rough around the edges--hes been through so much--but thoughtful and genuinely nice
his flash back is heart breaking
When quicksilver saved Charles and erik. Wolverine was the only one to thank him even though he would of survived the attack in the pentagon break in.
@@tepigbro oh yeah, thanks for pointing that out, it's a really good detail😁
This is hands down one of the best scenes I have ever seen in any marvel movies. The raw emotion is unmatched.
2:26 sneaking in x men origins wolverine is crazy
James McAvoy blew me away in this scene when he shouts I don't want your future, he makes you believe just how painful it is to be a psychic
Days of Future Past is arguably the best superhero movie ever made. This scene is a great reason why.
Top notch acting from McAvoy here. He's animated but still believable.
Wolverine especially within the comics has one of the most tragic lives over the hundreds of years he’s been around
This really is a great showcase for Wolverine because if you know the long history of Hugh Jackman's version up to that point, you see how far he's come because of his life with Xavier and the X-Men. A lost, solitary man with no purpose to someone fighting to save the family he found and using his own personal growth to do so. For me, it's a tie between Days of Future Past and Logan for Jackman's best work as the character. (I doubt that's an unusual opinion)
After watching Logan, this scene made me tear up
They skipped the best part too
Omg this scene is gonna make me cry. Why is it so good. Hugh jackman is a god tier actor
This cast was so damn good! Just bring Halle Berry back as Storm and it's perfect.
Why? She was horribly bland.
@@cptpepper7731said nobody
@Julianjulesr1361 that's the writing, not halle
Charles: you poor... Poor man
Logan: What? Don't look there! Look for yourself
When Logan said "there's no damage you can do that hasn't already be done" the truth behind that statement is so much deeper & darker than how it was said in that moment until Charles sees it for himself 😢 "You poor.......poor man"
Shit hits deep.
0:30 my favorite scene in this movie the unfiltered emotion on Logans future is so surreal.
The quicksilver jailbreak scene, Logan waking up in the end, and this are the best scenes in the film. Absolute perfection.
So good, easily one of the best superhero movies ever made.
I don't care what anyone says - "Days of Future Past" and "Apocalypse" were amazing.
Then they totally dropped the ball with Dark Phoenix.
Both so clever and so sad. Xavier is so broken inside as a result of the trauma that lost him the use of his legs that he effectively fries Cerebro, a machine designed to boost his powers to the Nth degree, by completely failing to have any control of his own mind. He's not insane, but something on the inside is so ruined he cannot pull himself together. You assume that he did somewhere before 2000 in the end, in the original timeline, but here he either finds a way in 1973 or the world comes to an End there is no coming back from.
Logan can't do for Xavier what Xavier once did for him, but he knows who can-Xavier circa 2023, who has walked through Hell itself with his eyes wide open to become the man he is. He knows what his younger self would have needed to hear, what he needs to know, to draw himself back together, but he's not there.
Or is he? Logan might well have suspected, given his body is still in 2023 and his mind is being projected back through history. If he can connect the two, maybe he can fix it all...
All that he's risking is his life and sanity. But, hey, he heals.
Then Xavier, at his very worst and lowest point, reads Logan's mind-and nearly starts screaming. Even after all the horror's Xavier's seen and witnessed in peoples minds, Logan just says "You can't do anything up there that hasn't been done before"-and we are shown why. If a man as broken and wounded as Logan could still believe in the Xavier he knew? Xavier circa 1973 had to give his all to see if he could be that man again...
An excellent analysis, my friend.
Beautifully written and I believe - perfectly explained.
Logan and Charles deserved so much more than the endings in "Logan".... so much much more
Yep I agree, very true!
They do deserve happy endings. But for Logan a tragic end to his life is sadly fitting, considering everything he went through. He represents the ugly side of heroism. He embodies "live by the sword, die by the sword." To its fullest
I will never understand how people hated this movie! I fucking love it, so much depth and love was poured into it! Merging the two timelines and having Charles talk to his younger self/ two different actors playing the same character and it having so much emotional weight to it and it not even feel weird or confusing was so perfect! I will always love this movie
I love Charles character arc in this movie. One of the best character arcs in any superhero movie
“Oh, you poor, poor man.”
“I know, an affair, not my best moment.”
man james mcavoy absolutrlly killed in this scene, so good acting
What great actors!
Xavier : "I am having a bad day." Logan : ""Let me show you something, hold my beer."

The expression on Charles's eyes always gets me . He really felt all the pain Logan suffered
Honestly, professor x’s powers are quite a curse too. Imagine the power to see and feel all those people’s memories, their pain, their suffering, all of it at the same time.
This was the perfect moment to show us the Sentinel War between 2013-2023
How beautiful..Charles brought him from being helpless by unlocking Logan’s mind, so Logan helped Charles from being helpless through his mind as well.
There's no damage you can do that hasn't already been done. 💔
Logan is very matured in this movie
2:22 Your such a calm person I wonder what goes on your mind
"I don't want your suffering, I don't want your future!" This hits me harder now that I grew up emotionally and medically in pain. My past self would probably yell this to me.
A fantastic film.
I’ll die on the hill that this was the best X-men movie.
James McEvoy is such a brilliant actor.
God, I love this movie SO MUCH! Easily the best X-men movie :)
What a great scene from the best of the franchise
“There’s no damage you can do that hasn’t already been done” we love how much of a bad ass Logan is but sometimes we forget what he’s been through

Just his skull
His mental fortitude is stronger than admantium. Anyone else would've been suicidal, depressed, psychotic, all the works but not logan. His true strength is his will to go on.

There WAS some good stuff in those movies!
I'm pretty sure that's a subtle nod to a Vulcan Mind Meld, and I love it.

Great film great scene
This scene belongs to James McAvoy. Exceptional actor.
Those memories are only a few decades of his life, it doesn’t get better further back.
"There's no damage you can do that hasn't already been done"
This is why wolverine is the best character besides spiderman imo, he embodies how men should embrace pain and move on like we should be to lead and to survive. Beautiful lines.
I Like They Show Those Throwback Scenes Of Logan Very Nostalgia
James McAvoy is so underrated.
Logan: "Look past my future. Look for your future."
Narator: So he look for his future, but too far future, his next reincarnation, as a captain of a space ship.
When Logan says "You showed me what I was. You showed me what I could be. I don't know how to do that for you..." - gets me every time. Logan doesn't want anyone to be as broken as he is. 🥺
2:26 Rewatching these X-Men movies to get ready for Deadpool 3, and in the other flashback scene where Logan had PTSD from seeing Stryker and only using X2 footage, I thought was the movie telling us X-Men Origins wasn’t canon, but this one half second clip of Victor stomping Logan’s claws off proves it is.
My favorite Xmen movie
logans suffering is on point with the flash, and im not sure who handles it better
X men first class and this movie is great
The tragic beauty of it is, no one but Wolverine could live with that much pain inside of him. As much as Charles was heartbroken, he was also terrified of Logan's life.
He willingly rushes first into battle, he is the first to risk his life for his friends knowing he's the one who can handle it because better him than others. He always takes responsibility for dealing with the ugliness.
Which is why Logan was such a sad movie. It showed what happens when you're strong for too long. No matter how tough you are, eventually you will break.
Logan is such an amazing friend.
God this movie is amazing.
The amount of pain Logan has been through is truly unbearable man..
Thats scene always makes me tear up
Charles is the only one who felt his pain emotionally.
