I love how Tobey’s more experienced Spider-Man, having faced down so many other villains, immediately goes for Andrew’s wrists to stop his webs. Gotta respect the OG.
Every time I see something from this movie again it just makes me wish I could go back to the first time I saw it in theater. Nothing compares to the original feeling
1 thing I love about this movie is how the Spidermen weren't pulled directly out of their last movies. They feel like they've grown organically the number of years since their last movies. Tobey Peter (2007) exudes a calmer demeanor of an adult. He's aged, but experienced and more confident. Andrew Peter (2014) is still goofy but a little subdued. You get the hint he's still maturing from relatively fresh rough patches. Really makes it feel like we're meeting REAL friends.
Yeah, what I love is that it exemplifies how iconic Toby's Spider-Man is. He doesn't need to show up in the suit for us to associate him with Spider-Man.
6:20 Tobey: "for me it was the top of the Chrysler building" Andrew: "Empire State. Better view" Tobey(in his head): "don't bring up the towers, don't bring up the towers, don't bring up the towers" Tobey: "That is a sweet view."
The original trailer for Spiderman featured the Twin Towers when Spiderman caught a helicopter of bad guys in a spider web between the two towers. But the trailer was pulled because of 9/11. It would have been a bittersweet comment if Tobey said the Twin Towers, implying that 9/11 did not actually happen in that universe.
@@ericsteel173 I believe in some shots of the city in the first movie you can see the twin towers, and then later in the second and third movies they're mysteriously absent. The implication(to me) has always been that Tobey's Peter was active during 9/11 and most likely just doesn't like to talk about it, seeing as he was probably just recovering bodies and moving rubble with the NYPD/FDNY for most of the day. I mean seriously think about what Spiderman would have to do to stop 9/11... he can't fly, and there would be nothing his webs could to to stop two commercial airliners going full speed... Maybe he could use his webs to redirect and catch falling debris, but even then... you gotta imagine how much debris he missed. Amazing as he is, he's still just _one_ man. He struggles to keep up with regular falling debris, let alone two entire buildings collapsing right in the heart of the city. I think the reason he doesn't talk about it, or the towers themselves, is because it was the one thing he couldn't stop or change, no matter how powerful he was. Then again, this is all headcanon, you could be right, maybe the towers are still there in his universe and the camera just forgets to ever show them.
@@trainknutTobey’s Spider Man can barely stop a full speed subway train, let alone 2 full speed flying commercial jets, yes Tobey is the physically stronger Spider Man out of the 3, but you’re 100% right, not everyone would have survived 9/11 even with Tobey’s Spider Man helping, you’d need a Superman, Thor, Hulk, Captain Marvel to help with something like that, I don’t even think Homelander would be able to stop every life in 9/11 as he is barely stronger than Spider Man
Clearly shows who is more experienced. Tobey kicked the ceiling so he could land and recover quicker. He blocked Andrew’s web shot by covering up his webbing’s points of origin.
I like how they kind of had Toby edge out the other 2. He is the most experienced but isn't old enough to be losing his strength either so it made sense.
They both recovered at the same time tbh. Andrew landed on the table (which is higher). He just used his leg to kick himself off the ceiling to land on the ground quicker
The Spiderman that joined Miles Morales was clearly an even older version of Tobey-Peter, which explains why he was less fazed about being in another universe with another Spiderman - he's been through it before. On the sad side, it means him and MJ do eventually break-up. This also means that not only has Tobey met all three of the 'main' Spidermen, but also Spidergwen (among others).
Yeah he landed and recovered quicker because of the kick. Just enough to get the shot of his web first. I love how they did Tobey in this movie. Because they really crapped on him in his last movie
I remember when I saw this in the theater last year. The audience cheered when Andrew Garfield appeared, but they went WILD when Tobey Maguire showed up.
I think it was... well, if Garfield is here, Maguire can't be too far behind. I think we all knew for sure when we saw Garfield but couldn't believe they also got Tobey.
Everyone kept saying that it would be impossible to have all 3 spiderman in one movie together. Once the multiverse was introduced and the raimi villains came I was like YOU GOTTA BRING IN TOBEY AND ANDREW
Fun fact: Tobey maguire was around the same age when he did no way home as Willem Dafoe was during the filming of the OG spider man. Also, Tom Holland is now the same age as Tobey was when they filmed the OG movie.
I really, really love how Andrew's Spidey is still the goofiest despite canonically being the angriest. He got the shortest end of the stick, the only one to lose 'his MJ' permanently. Yet he still naturally blends pain and humour into scenes.
Andrew's Spidey had the wise cracking element of Spiderman down. I've often heard it said that Tobey was the better Parker while Garfield was the better Spiderman, each in relationship to how well they depicted the OG comic Spiderman.
Well, that's not really right - canonically, Spider-Man only meets MJ after he loses Gwen. She's the daughter/grand daughter? of a friend of Aunt Mays that she had been trying to introduce Peter to for ages, but he kept avoiding. Her famous line is something like , "Face it Tiger, you just hit the jackpot!" (and indeed, he did - too bad Joe Quesada decided to ruin it) Anyway, if they had done another Garfield movie, I would have assumed they would have introduced Mary Jane. They just didn't get around to it.
I love the detail that Tobey's Peter knew to go for the wrist to block the webs because he's the only one who's fought someone with similar powers to his own before
This movie had heart and it did something rarely seen in movies. All age groups liked it. Im 55 and loved it. My dad was 87 and loved it more then his grand kids.
This is, *undeniably,* one of the most iconic Spider-Man movie moments. When I first saw this at a theater on opening night, the audience were cheering in excitement when Andrew Garfield appeared and then Tobey Maguire. I absolutely loved that moment.
I wish Stan Lee was alive to have been able to see this moment. So many generations of Spider-Man, together for the first and likely last time. This is literally one of my favorite scenes in the whole Marvel cinematic universe. We'll probably never get anything like it ever again.

It's easy to miss, but Tobey kicks off the ceiling so he'll land faster and get the next shot first. Really goes to show how much more experienced he is
Well that and Andrew Parker ended up on the table(which isnt as stable to land on compared to an apartment floor) during and he had to cling himself to said table for a split second, which was enough time for Tobey Parker to react with the web shooting the web shooters bit.
I fucking love it. Love it! The experience of fighting for your life against truly maniacal and vicious enemies, verses someone whose enemies are not quite as blood thirsty.
Tobey is faster, stronger and more experienced than the other Spiderman. Andrew had time to get that shot off but Tobey was faster. Even the way Tobey kicked the lizard off of him with one leg like he was ant showed the power levels between Tobey, Andrew and Tom. Tobey is on a whole nother level, which is why his villains did the most damage in the movie aside from Electro
I appreciate how they didn't make a whole thing about the two spider-men meeting and accepting each other - it was a quick web shoot out and then they were both just like "oh, okay, you're me. Cool. We're cool." Just immediately gives the impression that there's a bond and that they are both trusting and trustworthy.
After watching that a few times i'm wondering if it's also similar to when Peter A parker and Miles meet in 'into the spiderverse' with their spidey senses basically pinging off each other.
And it feels natural. It was like when they changed Terence Howard for Don Chindler to play Rhodey. The 1st time he and Tony met on scene still made me laugh to this day.
I wonder if Tobey and Andrew became emotional and shed tears, while they were watching the movie together on the opening night in masks and hats in a cinema and hearing the audience reactions in this scene. Especially for Tobey coming back after 14 years and noticing once more that he has a golden place in the hearts and minds of children and teens of 2000s, should be priceless.
Yasss. It's like Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, & Ben Affleck; Every generation will appreciate the Batman they first grew up with. I'm sure Tobey/Andrew knew what this scene meant to Spidey fans everywhere.
I love the implications here. Tobey said, “He’s not your friend.” “I’ve seen you two!” Implying that Tobey sort of understood what was going on when he got transported there
I assume a longer period of time has passed between the Spiderman 3 and this movie, compared to Garfield's so he has probably experienced a lot more weird shit since then, probably kept his cool better and went into detective mode lol
remember, by this time, spiderman had made national news, and his (and MJs) identity had been revealed. Im guessing, Toby had been around for enough time to have seen that much.

If they weren’t in the movie, it would’ve failed. It’s story and success was based on the rumors, even then it wasn’t even a top 3 Spider-Men film tbh. Nothing but nostalgia
A detail everyone seems to miss at first: When both Toby and Andrew SPider-Man's shoot their webbing, their respective sound affects come out as well. I love that attention to detail when they brought them back one more time.
Still one of the greatest scenes in cinema for me. I remember watching this opening night knowing full well that they were gonna be in it, and the place erupted and I'm sure I was the loudest. That feeling was immense and unforgettable.
I honestly wish I didn't know. It would have been truly special. I cannot imagine my absolute shock if this had been a complete surprise. I envy those that were completely in the dark about it!
More than anything, this movie honored all the Spider-Man versions. It is saying that those movies are not forgotten, replaced, or erased. The fans loved them for their own charm. It also ended the debate on who is the best spider-man version. Because right now, I still sooooo want to see Amazing Spider-Man 3. Heck I will also want to see how Tobey's Peter is doing married with her MJ
If SONY did it, and did the homework, Amazing Spider-Man 3 could be really dark in reference to Garfield saying he quit pulling his punches, and ending with Garfield being pulled into the MCU. That would be amazing
I remember being sat in the cinema with my son and daughter watching and the cheers that went up when Andrew Garfield and Tobey McGuire appeared was chilling. Such an emotional moment seeing them both again.
I love Andrew. But when Tobey appears I just can’t help but have the biggest smile on my face. He’s my childhood Spider-Man, and every time I think of a hero I see Toby’s Spider-Man. Just perfection. His mannerisms and the costume is just 👌. What an inspiration. Thank you Toby for being the best Spider-Man you can be. You taught me what a good person can really stand for. P.S. sorry for the cringe
Man the wholesome goodness of Tobey and underlying sadness of Andrew's Spider-Man really comes through in this scene. Right from the beginning they felt like their characters had completely returned, mind body and soul, and weren't just turning up to cash a check.
This was the biggest moment in the theater in at least ten years. The Portals scene in Avengers Endgame was big, but this was BIG! Portals had ten years of buildup, this scene had twenty. I've been a Spider-Man fanatic all my life, so for me it was _forty-five_ years. This scene actually brought tears to my eyes, it was so wonderful to see these two men again, playing Peter Parker. And bless both Andrew and Toby for agreeing to do it.
The portals in Endgame is on pair with this. You have Cap standing alone with Thanos in the other side with a giant army behind him. Suddenly we hear Falcon's voice... boy! I still want to cry to this day.
I know it’s not fair but Tobey will always be the O.G. Spider-Man for us late 90s kids…Can’t replace the nostalgia feel from 2002 “And they say that a hero can save us, im not gonna stand here and wait”
When he appears on the scene, he brought many of us back to our childhood/adolescence. For many of us, he was the first REAL live-action hero after a long series of Batman movies (which I’m not complaining about). But yes, I think we returned to feeling like when we went to the cinema to see HIM being Spiderman. I know the movie was largely fan service, but they did it so well!
I remember being a kid and idolizing Tobey Maguire's Spiderman. I will never forget opening night for No Way Home and watching this scene with a packed theater.
This was a brilliant way to bring in the other Spidermans. Note that Andrew even finishes one of Tobey's sentences. It gives comic relief (Lola!) between two very sad scenes. I dare say the next one on the school roof is the saddest of the movie. Even in German and in Polish, the emotion comes through to the audience. Of course, that scene on the roof gives the Spidermans their purpose in the movie.

Andrew absolutely was amazing in this. His peter always resonated with me. I loved seeing him again. Truly a nostalgic feeling. Also love the little squabble between his and tobeys peter haha
I really love how the spider sense kicks in when they see each other. Its like a natural instinct for them and you can see when their human brains kick back in and go "oh yeah that's just another version of me"
I genuinely love that they kept trying to reinvent Spiderman to make money but found a way to bring them into a multiverse for the enjoyment of fans who are older and who would have seen Toby years ago. Marvel had an ability to bring up emotions but this new phase with the shows is missing it. What a fantastic scene
I think what mainly cause this is large reasons. Covid fears, and uncertain goals. Marvel started churning out content when Covid hit, as it was revealed the heads got scared for the future of cinima. So, they spun out content to keep money flowing. It led to hit or miss films. Spider Man did fantastic, but that was largely done before Covid restrictions hit their highs. But you also got Balck Widow, Love and Thunder and Multiverse of Madness. Films i liked, but were largely panned. Then you got the show runs that were more hit or miss. She-Hulk was liked largely by comic fans, but fell off way more with fans of the films. What-If did well, and got green lit for a second season. Loki still standes as their ibggest show hit. Falcon and the Winter Soldier had solid ideas, good characters, and good pacing, only faltering in its last episode falling apart the more you disect Falcon's speech. As to not having a plan? Simple. They put themselves in a hard corner with Endgame. Where do you go after it? Its a good question. Your main cast of characters are retired. Tony and Widow are dead. Thor has gone soul searching. Hulk is crippled. Halkeye is retired and regrettful. And cap is old and dying. You need new heroes to lead the picture. Which means, new films to build them up, but also films to retire other big players, like the original Guardians. But that film got delayed because they fired James Gun (which a whole different disucssion), and the actors refused to do a Guardians film without him. All in all, I think they wanted Phase 4 to be a intro to new players like Riri and Shang Chi, but also wanted to focus on their big players like Thor and the Guardians. Sadly, because of this, and the content output, it made the overall pump ruin most people's fun and enjoyment. Not enough to kill Marvel or hero films, but enough to have people question Marvel's skill and vision. With Deadpool 3 coming out, and Kevin Feigi making it clear he wasn't happy with Phase 4, I think Phase 5 has a big shot of being up to standard again. Possibly with some recap moment in combing films like avengers and such, and you can see the next set of films being fun ad successful.
The new phase has to start all over. You're not going to hold onto actors for DECADES so they have to keep some continuity but catch up new characters and bring them to "replace" the 'retiring' ones, which people by and large aren't a big fan of happening, but I imagine as an actor losing much of your scheduling freedom would be a bit frustrating, so while some may love the characters they play, being so tied down as MCU contracts go isn't necessarily ideal. But then the fans are expecting interactions and emotions like they had in Civil War and beyond, when we're in the Iron Man 2, Thor 2 section all over again, which did not have those interactions and emotions at all. People just have absurd expectations because of how good the finale of the trilogy was, they need to let things build back to that level.
Antique knives and weapons are a big thing in Filipino culture. They're probably his grandma's family's heirlooms passed down. Many cultures have similar.

I still never get over this scene. I remember when Andrew Garfield first Spidey film came out, I had always wondered how they would have reacted if the two had met. Little did I know it would’ve taken 9 years to find out.
This scene always brings tears of joy to me. My inner childhood erupted when both Spidermen (especially Tobey) came out. This scene was so well executed!
A superhero is a person with superhuman abilities and uses them to rescue cats from trees. Spider-Man isn't an entertainer, but he will help someone who needs help...so cobwebs.
3:50 “I guess you keep doing it until you find the real Peter Parker.” Andrew “Ouch!” 4:17 “Great, it’s just some random guy.” Perfect opportunity for Tobey to also say “ouch” because he AIN’T just some random guy, as his narration at the beginning of the first movie says.
The whole point of Spider-Man is that he is just some random guy, Peter Parker was just in the right place at the right time (or wrong place depending on how you perceive his crushing responsibility), but to have Spider-Man consider himself above being a random guy wouldn't be in line with his character at all, so I don't personally feel that reaction would've fit here
Seeing Tobey walk through got me choked up in theaters. He was the first Spider-Man I saw so it was a pull on the heart string. Funny how nostalgia works

Reconnecting with old friends 😉
Go watch the behind the scenes of this movie. It really was like them comparing notes. It is how the MCU used to be when the family got together.

Originally he said "some pastor". Seen the original theatre version.
@@xXSilentAgent47Xx the youth pastor line was when he asked if tobey brought his suit later in the movie.
Yeah, what I love is that it exemplifies how iconic Toby's Spider-Man is. He doesn't need to show up in the suit for us to associate him with Spider-Man.
His character is the real random guy, no one with a brain gives a f about that dumb character
6:20
Tobey: "for me it was the top of the Chrysler building"
Andrew: "Empire State. Better view"
Tobey(in his head): "don't bring up the towers, don't bring up the towers, don't bring up the towers"
Tobey: "That is a sweet view."
@ericsteel173
They should have tacked the bridge scene to the trailer.
We're New Yorkers, you attack one of us, you attack all of us.
@@trainknutTobey’s Spider Man can barely stop a full speed subway train, let alone 2 full speed flying commercial jets, yes Tobey is the physically stronger Spider Man out of the 3, but you’re 100% right, not everyone would have survived 9/11 even with Tobey’s Spider Man helping, you’d need a Superman, Thor, Hulk, Captain Marvel to help with something like that, I don’t even think Homelander would be able to stop every life in 9/11 as he is barely stronger than Spider Man
@@trainknut why I love the comment section. Here I get a full movie in a reply to another comment on a tender subject from just some random guy.
You can hear the kick! I never noticed it before!

Different generations man. I completely forgot Andrew's version even existed. I grew up watching Toby's version over and over.
Fun fact: Tobey maguire was around the same age when he did no way home as Willem Dafoe was during the filming of the OG spider man. Also, Tom Holland is now the same age as Tobey was when they filmed the OG movie.
@@CaptainRudy4021 fucking time, it never stops
I didn't like Drew Spider Man until I rewatched the 90s Spiderman cartoon and started realizing he's the closest to that Spiderman.
Her famous line is something like , "Face it Tiger, you just hit the jackpot!" (and indeed, he did - too bad Joe Quesada decided to ruin it)
Anyway, if they had done another Garfield movie, I would have assumed they would have introduced Mary Jane. They just didn't get around to it.
he has yet to meet his real MJ. the tobey spidey was right to give him the advice not to give up on love.
That is how SpiderMan is. He makes jokes and is silly but that is to cover the pain, loss, and sacrifices he endured over the years.
He never lost his mj...he thinks gren was his mj....bet ever spiderman has a gwen and a mj

Well that and Andrew Parker ended up on the table(which isnt as stable to land on compared to an apartment floor) during and he had to cling himself to said table for a split second, which was enough time for Tobey Parker to react with the web shooting the web shooters bit.
well tobys spiderman is suppose to be older so of course

This scene actually made me cry in the theater. I didn't wanna get my hopes up with seeing both of them in No Way Home. This was the best fanservice I had in years. Raimi trilogy was my childhood and I enjoyed Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2 despite their flaws. It was great.
Andrew absolutely was amazing in this. His peter always resonated with me. I loved seeing him again. Truly a nostalgic feeling. Also love the little squabble between his and tobeys peter haha
I really love how the spider sense kicks in when they see each other. Its like a natural instinct for them and you can see when their human brains kick back in and go "oh yeah that's just another version of me"
The way Andrew whispers, "Why'd you do that?" is hilarious to me
MJ; Trying to see if you have the tingle-thing
4:10 seeing part of my childhood and THAT theme in the background no matter how cold I feel it always warms me ...
This scene turned the theatre into a stadium. Especially when tobey maguire appeared, everyone got crazy as hell. Still getting goosebumps. 🔥🔥🔥
1:35 I didn’t expect this when I was in the movie theater. 4:13 and this, everyone made noise!!!! I love it!
It was quite predictable to be honest...Everyone knew it was coming but had to see it to believe it.
how didn't you? It was well known this was gonna happen....
@@TheCursedMessiah that I knew but I didn’t know when. Therefore this was unexpected.
@@TheCursedMessiah because I didnt use social media for awhile to avoid such dumb spoiler which gonna ruin the excitement for my own
Mine was opposite.
Andrew reaction was 🤯🤯🤯🤯
Tobey reaction was 🙂🙂
I genuinely love that they kept trying to reinvent Spiderman to make money but found a way to bring them into a multiverse for the enjoyment of fans who are older and who would have seen Toby years ago.
What do we need to know about Ned's Grandma...who keeps a large collection of vicious looking knives mounted on the wall? 0:12
My grandma didn't have that. She didn't have portals to alternate universes either. 🤷♂️
It’s a Philippines knife collection
Antique knives and weapons are a big thing in Filipino culture. They're probably his grandma's family's heirlooms passed down. Many cultures have similar.
Tobey Maguire's spidey senses are so strong he could sense the plot of the movie 5:37
Or OR he just looked at a television once and saw that a different Peter Parker had his identity revealed and realized that he probably could use some help?
As an early 90s guy watching Toby Macguire gave me chills and made me kinda sad. We used to adore this guy in our childhood. I wish marvel make more movies with andrew and toby
Tobey is always my Spiderman. The happiness and nostalgia I feel when I see him is just… nothing against any other spidermen though.
I still never get over this scene. I remember when Andrew Garfield first Spidey film came out, I had always wondered how they would have reacted if the two had met. Little did I know it would’ve taken 9 years to find out.
4:39 Tobey plays such a nice guy here.
5:02 So you're Spiderman 2
That's a high level of pun, not many would realize 😂
youtube subtitles be like :
Well spiderman 2 is the best spiderman movie❤
This scene always brings tears of joy to me. My inner childhood erupted when both Spidermen (especially Tobey) came out. This scene was so well executed!
I love that Tobey is basically a master compared to the younger spider man, immediately silencing him like a black belt to his pupil
I love how the grandma tricks him into crawling on the ceiling after he wouldn't for MJ😂
A superhero is a person with superhuman abilities and uses them to rescue cats from trees.
Spider-Man isn't an entertainer, but he will help someone who needs help...so cobwebs.
3:50 “I guess you keep doing it until you find the real Peter Parker.”
Andrew “Ouch!”
4:17 “Great, it’s just some random guy.”
Perfect opportunity for Tobey to also say “ouch” because he AIN’T just some random guy, as his narration at the beginning of the first movie says.
Except he wants to be considered that. Anonymous superhero thing, after all.
2004: He's just a kid
2021: Great, it's just some random guy
The perfect summation of Tobey's tenure
Except he's trying to stay anonymous. He wants to be a random guy here. Hence not wearing the costume.
The whole point of Spider-Man is that he is just some random guy, Peter Parker was just in the right place at the right time (or wrong place depending on how you perceive his crushing responsibility), but to have Spider-Man consider himself above being a random guy wouldn't be in line with his character at all, so I don't personally feel that reaction would've fit here
Tobey is a lot more humble than that. Andrew has more pride and ego, thus why he was offended and said "ouch"
Seeing Tobey walk through got me choked up in theaters. He was the first Spider-Man I saw so it was a pull on the heart string. Funny how nostalgia works
I will never forget watching this for the first time. I absolutely lost it when I saw Tobey appear. I cried so hard because it was basically having your childhood come back to say hello. All these years later and I still get teary eyed when I watch this. No one will ever be a better Spider Man than Tobey. He will always be Spider Man. 🕷️
I love how Ned's Lola fangirling over Tobey.😂
Cuz he’s the OG
@@Noremac.22 and the best spiderman
@@yohani8352 agreed
Lola was cute in this scene in genral
My paternal grandfather looked like Tobey in the 1960s.
3:37 spiderman: homecleaning😅
Literally crying thinking about the reactions, we wanted all three of them in the movie more than anything. They exceeded all of my expectations and made the film absolutely magical.
my mom grew up and had me when she watched tobey maguire’s spider man, and tobey, along with christopher reeve’s superman, introduced me to superheroes. when he showed up and the entire audience started screaming, i heard my mom scream “OH MY GOD!!!”. this rlly was a once in a lifetime experience watching this for the first time
me, my mom, nd my sister also lost it when ned’s lola started speaking tagalog bc we’re all filipino
This will go down the history of cinema as one of the most iconic scenes, OMG the crowd reaction when Tobey stepped in. Only true 80s, 90s kids would know.
We watched it as teens and now watching it with our kids and shouting at the same excitement, this was another level.
I just love Andrew Garfield as Spidey. To me he portraits just the right amount of sas when talking to the bad guys.
This movie means so much to me as a fan, I saw the first movie with Tobey on opening night. The moments with the three spidermen are just the most incredible thing.
There is only one true Spider-Man, and that is Toby’s spider man
It was something special to see this in the theater. People went mad when they saw Tobey!
