I really like the fact that MCU seized the opportunity to have Spider-Man finally involved with other superheroes and immidiately take advantage of it to the maximum by creating this father-son relationship between him and Tony. It really helped both of them to develop further as characters.
Yeah turn him into Tony Jr without mentioning Ben the sole reason why he is Spider-Man
you mean it was better if mcu literally copy pasted the previous spider-man movies which defeats the purpose of a reboot.@@NaughtyJuri
I agree, I remember being so happy that the MCU moved away from the traditional narrative of Spider-Man and did their own thing with the character, we’ve already seen the same thing happen in every Spider-Man movie time and time again.

"Climbing walls, how you doing that? Adhesive gloves?"
Minor thing, but I like that line.
I like that Tony tried to come up with a technical explanation on Peter's powers rather than instantly assuming that "oh you've got the gimmick and abilities of a spider, I assume you got those abilities from a radioactive spider as well and it's in your DNA?"
He probably first assumed spider man was some kid who accidentally found a bootleg super soldier serum and his other abilities are just tech.
Also note he jumps to that after the web fluid comment. That establishes to Stark that it's possible that Peter has the smarts to build gloves that could do that.
Theory is the Spider was enhanced by Supersoldier serum
It’s interesting they never really confirmed the answer. Peter just said it’s a long story.
@@MrKingYuji Right . They never really have gone into exactly how this version of Spiderman got his powers. They only ensure that the audience gets the idea they clearly aren't natural as Peter alludes here to something he doesn't really seem to know how to explain happening to him 6 months previously to change him. Most likely because the story of the origin of the character gaining his spider abilities after being bitten by a radioactive ( original plot ) or genetically enhanced ( modern updated plot ) spider at a lab is already so well known by everyone they probably don't think they really have to spell it out. Or they were going to make a future surprise revelation, like the spider indeed having been enhanced with Super Soldier serum or version of it. My guess is this Peter's story would be about the same as Toby Maguire's school field trip to the lab version. It makes the most sense and is a less contrived way to get him there. He probably wouldn't even know himself exactly what experiments they were doing with the spider that lead to his newfound physical changes and abilities which would make it pretty hard for him to explain .

I would have liked Peter to mention the kind of damage he could do to someone with these powers playing football. Either way that was a fun scene.
That's the dumbest line in this entire movie because doing now what you didn't before is a part of growing up
@@user-pm6nx1fs2wwhat he’s saying is that he has an unfair advantage that he didn’t before. Yeah, sure, he could destroy guys bigger than him in any sport he wants. But it’s not the right thing to do. When we have power or advantage that other people don’t, it’s on us to be the bigger people.
@@jxynothere that does not matter now you want to interpret that, the fact is how he said it is still stupid as hell
@@user-pm6nx1fs2wit’s literally a perfect encapsulation of who Peter Parker/Spider-Man is. It’s the same message as “with great power, comes great responsibility”. Peter would completely reckless and irresponsible with his powers if he did use them for selfish and arrogant reasons like playing football. That’s why he’s more proud of passing the algebra test than joining sports. He cares the little things that most people wouldn’t if they had his powers.
I really like how they waited 4 years to use the, "with great power comes great responsibility" line, but they still incorporated the concept at 2:37.
Edit:
A year later after writing this comment I realized that the entire first 3 movies were about this. Peter Parker does whatever he can against his better judgement to ensure the best result, soley because he is the only one who can help.
In homecoming, after trying to prove himself to Tony, he remembers that the reason he played the hero role was because he had to by virtue of being capable of doing so. Despite being un-apprenticed by Tony, with no real motivator, he still helps out, just because he can. Even until the very end of the movie, he could have let Vulture die, but he elected himself to help everyone, even if it is difficult in the long run. His handling of power wavers.
In Far From Home, after Tony's death, he finds himself with Tony's greatest weapon, but steps down from the responsibility to have the power bared by someone else. Only after realizing that he was granted this great power because he was expected to be responsible with it, he goes against all odds to repair the damage he has made. His handling of responsibility wavers.
In No Way Home, we're met with absolute catastrophe in his life. All odds are against him, there is no great weapon, there is no obligation to help, and with everything on the line, he has an easy and ethically sound solution to his problem, but he still persists simply because he might be able to help. Though it being the difficult route, he still endures through the most sound resolution. And even at the very end, he distances himself from his only friends, to avoid putting them back into harm's way. In this last movie, he balances power and responsibility perfectly.
The trilogy honestly just tells the story of a weak and irresponsible teen learning to hone himself and produce greatness for the people around him despite the immeasurable trifle in his life. In the end, he sacrifices his well being consistently as a means to fully utilize his power and bare the responsibility of the safety of his city, all while stepping out of the shadow of the people who raised him and truly becoming his own man.

Lee Flores Different directors
Also didn't realize this at first but Tony calls her "Aunt Hottie" when he's threatening to tell on Peter!
1:22 This whole sequence here, complete with him looking goofily into the goggles, was really him being super smart and likely figuring out what adjustments and features he should add to the suit for Peter. Think about it, he finds out that:
-Peter has amazing reflexes
-Peter doesn't need a new web formula
-Peter made the webbing himself and is very smart
-Peter doesn't need adhesive gloves or shoes
-Peter needs to have sensory-related adjustments
All from this one wholesome scene.
I think that reflex, before Far From Home focused on it, was the subtle nod to his Spider-Sense without actually going into detail on it, he catches it with his non-dominant hand (We see he's right handed in Homecoming), without looking, the near instant it's thrown at him. And, if Spider-Sense works similarly in the comics, and it doesn't activate around people he trusts (Which is how it doesn't trigger when Aunt May sees him in the suit at the end of Homecoming), he's on edge in this moment, he's meeting his hero, since the boy in Iron Man 2 is in fact Peter, but he also just got his secret identity found out, so his Spidey-Sense is kicking into gear.

I feel like the whole “my senses are dialed to 11” thing was an interesting interpretation of Peter’s spider sense that wasn’t explored as much as it should have been
it would be really interesting to see him deal with sensory overload or something
That's true. The kid is walking around without any goggles when he's out of the suit, so how is he dealing with his super senses then? What is he seeing? Is he getting better at controlling them?
So many questions that could have made interesting scenes if Marvel amd Disney had planned better.
There was also him catching the web cartridge without even looking up.

@@TheKingOfRuckus Spider-sense is basically feeling vibrations in the air so his head would probably feel all numb when he's in a crowd or something like that. Though, if they wanted to use that disturbing oversensory thing, it would have more suited an origin story, where he would have to learn how to control his powers, like learning to hold back so he doesn't kill with one hit ore something. There was something pretty similar in TASM where Peter felt everything around him and was always sweating and scared and he would catch a fly for no reason.

2:37 Peter saying With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility in different words along with the fact he first heard the line from Aunt May many years into his crime fighting career and not from Uncle Ben right after getting his powers shows that this Peter is the most morally intelligent and learned that lesson himself and didn't just hear Uncle Ben say it to him,
And to think, he would go from, 'trying to protect the little guy', to fighting along side Iron Man, fighting Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and win, then fight Captain America, lose but still held his own pretty well, help take down giant ant man, taking down a guy in a mecha vulture suit powered by Chitauri tech, helping save the universe, and then the multiverse. Even though he almost broke the second one in the first place, only to then go back to 'protecting the little guy'. He's come full circle now, and I can't wait to see what's in store for him next.

That was Tony going "oh shit, I'm going to have to lie to him to get him on my side to fight against Cap."
This was Civil War, Tony was on the *other* side of that argument.
Did that whole uncle Ben thing happened to this version of Peter Parker or nah?
@@weadon44 I reckon it did, and this scene is referencing that rather than making the fans watch it yet again. Tom Holland manages to convey so much pain in just a few lines, and by avoiding eye contact, it's such subtly brilliant acting.
@@weadon44 It did. It was referenced in Homecoming.
“Look, when you can do the things that I can, but you don’t, and then the bad things do happen? They happen because of you.” Notice how Tony leans forward as he says this? He relates to that sentence perfectly. That’s exactly why and how he started off as being Iron Man.
1:14 I CANT WITH TONY ‘ not even your unusually attractive aunt ‘ I CANT 😂
I love that moment when Peter says _"when you can do the things that I can, and then the bad things happen... they happen because of you"_ because you can see Tony's eyes look down a little, likely as he's self-reflecting on the bad things that happened because of him, which led him to become IronMan. The words of that teenager just hit him right in the heart at that moment.
I take it as more that Peter just made Cap's argument against the Accords, while Tony is recruiting Peter to fight Cap. Cap's position is that he won't be bound to an authority to which he must ask permission "to do the right thing". He doesn't want to be in a situation in which he is denied permission to act because then, due to inaction "the bad things are because of you".

Hah didn’t expect to see you here
Because Robert portrays Tony so damn well. They are actually a lot of improvised lines that are kept in because he's such an amazing actor.
You see him looking over at something off screen. Probably the crew. But it fits well anyway because in the movie he's probably just looking at something that he could make fun of in Peter's room and taking a moment to skip the joke and go right to the reason he's there.
He looks like he's looking at the crew when he waits for Tom to move his leg
@@MysterDaftGame true... But in fiction fantasy he is doing what I described lol. Just my opinion.
I wonder how many viewers actually noticed how clever they set up Tony to be in this scene. Tony figured out tons of stuff just poking around. For example, he noted the very few places the suit could have been hidden, decided it was probably the ceiling, and immediately picked up the very stick Peter probably uses to get it himself, noting it had no other probable purpose. Then he talks to Peter about his powers and equipment, which sounds very casual. But he's already designing his new suit in his head, noting the key points like Peter makes his own webbing cartridges, his wall-climbing is an inherent power, and he needs eye filters. Tony also wouldn't have come here if he didn't already suspect Peter would respond the way he did to the question of why does he do this hero stuff.
I don't think Tony was expecting the response.
I think he expected Peter to be like him at that age- some hotshot kid out for a joyride.
He wasn't prepared for him to be incredibly mature for his age, and wise in a lot of ways his contemporaries were not.
That’s my favorite thing about this scene
That's all over the pleace with Tony. We like to focus on the big shows of intelligence, JARVIS, the Iron Man armours, Vision, etc. But the series is full of small moments like this that show just how smart he is
I always assumed he had a drone or something watch him put the suit up, but your explanation makes more sense

2:37 I love No Way Home but they did not need to have aunt May nor Uncle Ben say the line. I would argue its more powerful not having Ben say it as it hits much harder that way IMO.
1:37 Is why I love Robert's character. Just so goofy. Although he can be serious.
When an actor can show you what they're thinking about without saying a word, it really shows their level of talent. The moment Pete explains, "when you can do the things that I can but you don't, and then the bad things happen (Uncle Ben) they happen because of you," Tony relates without saying a word. Solid acting on both parts. Tom sells the biggest mistake of his life perfectly. Doesn't get too into it but the pain is there.
I don’t think that has to do with acting probably because that story has been rehashed 100 times
@@thewanderingassassinlk3136 Or they're also just good actors

@@pershop4950 "when you can do the things that I can but don't, then the

Plenty of applications to Tony's life and guilt. Id say mostly stemming from his life pre-Iron man. It wasn't until he was forced to build a missle for terrorists that he realized his technology has been used for evil. He chose to make a fortune and live out his life as a billionaire playboy. He let someone else run his company which was likely responsible for thousands of innocent deaths, including Wanda and Pietro's parents.
Yeah it doesn't take much of a leap of intuition to know that Parker is doing what he does out of guilt because he let someone die.
