Well now we know why Tony didn’t blame Starlord for his reaction in IW. He knew how it felt to lose someone close, and having the killer right in front of him.
See, that's why if Quill is to be blamed, and he is guilty, then Tony is equally to blame for the divided strength of the Avengers prior to the Battle of Wakanda. They both made the same kind of mistake and people paid dearly for it. You could argue that Tony's outburst was a little more irrational as he knew Bucky didn't do it of his own free will, and yet he still wanted him dead, so he recognized Quill's own irrational anger and saw that he's got no right to criticize. And Tony had no way of knowing that Steve and co. were also in the midst of battle so as far as he knew, he failed coz he couldn't let go of his own ego long enough to properly call for Steve's help and before, that his inability to control his grief was why he couldn't easily contact Steve in the first place.
@@UmarTahir Yes, but they would have been more easily able to work it out. And if Cap DOES go rogue anyway, Tony would have less incentive for going after him (considering he already blew off Ross in the movie as it was, what more if he and Cap didn't part on bad terms), and then have less pride to overcome in actually calling for Cap. Actually, they could've remained in contact even. As we see in Infinity War, even Rhodey quickly regretted being part of that exercise in stupidity, and if the soldier is willing to risk court martial to do what's right, what more the billionaire superhero who's had a history of defying authority that tried to keep him pinned, as shown in Iron Man 2? Rhodey would have encouraged him that the Accords were not the best idea. And, if you're going to still say that the actions of Quill ALONE caused half the universe to be erased, then you SHOULD also blame the guy who screwed up the nearly-equally successful second chance at stopping Thanos: THOR. Why did Thor not "go for the head"? Because Thor explicitly wanted Thanos to suffer and he wanted to SEE Thanos suffer. Both Quill and Thor wanted to hurt Thanos and see him get hurt. Even Thanos points out how stupid Thor was being. If not the head, cut off the arm. Thor has every right to feel like utter crap in Endgame, because it IS kind of his fault Thanos got the opening to snap. Our argument hinges on people being emotionally mature and pragmatic, but Tony, Quill, and even Thor to a lesser extent are none of those, so we are left with tragic mistakes of emotionally compromised individuals. After all, Tony siding with the Accords in the first place was also an emotionally compromised decision due to a combination of his then-breakup with Pepper, revisiting the grief he felt from his parents' death, and being guilt-tripped by the mother of a casualty, so he was emotionally compromised the entire movie because of his previously-established issues piling up all at once.
@@UmarTahir That's fair, since that was the point anyway: tragic, emotionally-driven mistakes, and all three made very big ones that ultimately agreed. The thing about Tony calling Cap, though, was, he had some time to press Call on the phone as soon as the four went out of the Sanctum Sanctorum to check out the noise. He had the phone out, he was about to, but he hesitated, and either Strange or Bruce pushed him into doing it, and when he finally decided to do it, they were interrupted by Ebony Maw's arrival and things spiraled from there, so he couldn't make the call. It's by sheer luck that Cap and co. were already on the scene for Wanda and Vision, though, yes, it means they were unavailable to help Tony anyway.
Its worth pointing out that Tony is the public face of the Avengers. Every time anything goes wrong, it's Tony who deals with the fallout. He is the only publicly accessible one and he's the one who gets blamed for everything. Which is distinctly unfair, because he does try to prevent all the tragedy and pain and disaster, but he gets blamed when it happens anyway
That’s why in my opinion the public sees tony as the leader not cap. That’s why nobody was asking Sam to be the leader of the avengers, they asked Spider-Man because he’s in close relations with the starks.
@@aleenajobi7428 well he’s seen fighting with him in New York. Something that seems to happen more often which is why they’re relationship got so close in between movies. At the time Sam and Steve were fugitives so the public looked to them. @@RealogOnlyBrodie Well in my opinion Tony is kinda messy. He tries to deal with stuff but fails spectacularly at that and then it all goes south. Only my opinion.
This really shows how unstable Beck was. Nobody was laughing when he said B.A.R.F. in fact, they were all listening to Tony sadly relive some of his past and then go on to fund student research. Not only that, but Tony himself said he had to work on that acronym.
Gotta agree on that statement fam. I mean, trying to tear down the world just because your boss named your invention with some 'what-you-called-an-ugly-name' while no one even think it's funny or humiliating, well, the man was a real unstable.
In the comics Tony is now adopted by the Starks dumb Retcon but I have to imagine Maria had to ask when Tony was in his teens "Howard Tony looks like you, is a genius like you, and has your character traits WTF?".
I wonder if Howard ever thought his son went back in time in the future? Like I wonder if that crossed his mind Edit: wait, he wouldn’t cause they returned the stones so he wouldn’t remember therefore it never happened?? I need a fucking true marvel fan to explain my own theory
During the B.A.R.F. sequence, Maria Stark tells Tony 'Say goodbye to your father'. During the press conference on Iron Man (2008), Tony's opening lines are 'I never said goodbye to my father'.
That part didn't actually happen. ITs what tony wished what happened had they knew that his parents would die later that day so he could get some closure with his father.
@@parafilmz5380 Who said what? The OP said there's an inconsistency in the films' plot chronology, in that Stark said he never actually said goodbye to his dad before they left, while here it shows he did in a simulation, but the simulation was projecting a flashback which also had some editing into it, where Tony envisioned what he wished had happened, that he had bid his father farewell at least getting some closure, and what was shown here, the editing, never actually happened. Its just Tony showing what his new invention could do which is apparently reliving and dealing with trauma to acceptance. I suppose it works with the medical field as well to help patients. And its technically Quentin Beck's invention and Tony just named it, albeit giving it an unpleasant name. Yeah. So the person you called an idiot was just explaining to the OP what I am explaining to you now. And who's the idiot? You.
They should've made his parents CGI too. Atleast that would be like "thats a recreation, thats why it's like this", while Tony still looks very CGI in this.
Came here to see how different reality was from Mysterio’s memories... he was definetly ill; he remembers the audience laughing when they didn’t... that was all on his head.
Yeah Mysterio saw everything around him in a very warped way, in reality Tony instantly points out he's gotta work on the name of the program while the audience are more seriously captivated by what he's demonstrating and maybe emotional considering this was the last time he'd seen his parents. No laughing here.
Not only did he remember people laughing at the B.A.R.F. acronym, he DIDN'T remember that Tony immediately said that he "had to work on that acronym." Meaning Tony didn't like it either and admitted it was just a placeholder name that wasn't finalized. He also didn't mention how Stark said that he gave him $611 million in funding, something that, Tony was right, no sane man or branch of government would ever fund.
I love how you can see Tony’s character change throughout the movies based on the things he invents. From building high tech military weapons in his first movie to building the arc reactor as a seemingly unlimited power source to building suits for himself to protect the Earth to building something that helps the individual deal with traumatic memories. Even at the end of the movie Tony’s helping Rhodes after the accident with the mechanical exoskeleton that he’s working on so he can walk again. This scene really shows his character because he knows he can’t invent everything forever. So he’s willing to use his money to fund other peoples’ inventions. Truly an inspiration to the world in the MCU.
I was rooting for Tony actually. Sure Steve had a point, but this movie was too painful for Tony. He was broken up with Pepper, his best friend got paralyzed, everyone (from Ross to that old lady) blamed him what Avengers have done in Lagos and Sokovia, he has faced his traumas since the first Avengers movie, Natasha blamed for being selfish while all he was trying to do was to save the team since the second Avengers movie. And if you think that wasn't enough, he saw the footages of the assassination of his parents while the killer is in the room. Brainwash or not, would you not give the same reaction? Sure Cap also had problems like losing Peggy or becoming criminal but literally everyone treated Stark like asshole, although he was nicer than he was on his solo movies.
What does that suppose to do with this one? He was misunderstood as Steve plus the events in that movie also concerned his own life. If he became evil because of that, I wouldn't support him.
@@echarts3710 no, he made a bad decision that no-one supported because he felt guilty. If you compare the teams no superhero person supported team Tony. Team Tony was: tony, his robot, his best friend( these 2 obviously will support him), a guy trying to get revenge on Bucky (black panther) and a double agent. Tony broke the avengers, because he felt guilty
Al Strider you do know that the “cops” that came after Bucky had orders to shoot on sight right? They wanted to execute Bucky for a crime they weren’t even a 100% percent sure he committed just because the government needed a scapegoat; the easy answer, “The Winter Soldier did it”. That itself is an illegal order that the United Nations decided to carry out and also violates Bucky’s constitutional and human rights. The only reason Cap went to his apartment was so that Bucky could _LIVE_ to see a fair trial: something the government didn’t even feel like upholding for him. Plus when Bucky is finally in custody Steve asks about a lawyer and get denied, don’t tell that’s not a fucking violation of many things in the court of law The fact that you say Wanda would’ve been in prison proves how unjust the government is. Wanda has not been charged with anything therefore there is no reason for her to be on house arrest nonetheless prison cuz that would be flat out illegal. Fucking Vision was keeping her there _against_ her will. Nah sure Wanda wanted to leave definitely, she just felt like she had _no choice_ but to stay. So she isn’t really _willingly_ staying there out of her own will really; she’s scared, the gov’t is basically teaching her to fear herself and is making her feel like a caged animal for doing the best she could possibly do in that situation in Lagos. Dude the Accords violates many human rights and also has tons of unconstitutional things in it. I mean the document would literally force enhanced people to register under the Accords like Jews were forced to under Hitler. Cap wasn’t having any of that either. *”Steve kept breaking the law”* Who cares about the law at that point if it’s not moral? Sure as hell not Steve; you think back in his day were things like segregation, Jim Crow laws, treatment of women etc.were in fact with in the law made Steve feel all better just because it was “legal”? Steve goes with what’s morally right not what the government thinks is good.
Al Strider and Wanda didn’t even go to “prison”, where she did go to tho was to an illegal underwater facility that holds people that were given no right to a trial, an attorney or a lawyer. Absolutely nothing at all.
The relationship between Tony and Howard was so well done. I think one of my favourite moments with Tony was in Civil War when he was fighting Steve and said "that shield doesn't belong to you. You don't deserve it. My father made that shield." That right there revealed everything about how he felt about his dad.
@@adib6413 we saw how Howard felt about Tony, and we saw glimpses here and there throughout the films of how Tony felt about Howard, but it was that moment in particular, for me, that really demonstrated the depth of Tony's love. He tells Steve, freaking Captain America, that he isn't good enough for the shield his father made. That, more than any previous comments he'd made, shows the depth of his love and respect for his father.
@@jcraigwilliams70 I always saw it as a disconnect of Tony and his father. Tony's selfishness in the heat of the moment sadly/angrily telling Rogers he doesn't deserve that shield. But Rogers fought and bled for that shield, Tony doesn't know half of what Rogers did for it, while for Howard and "SHIELD" all it was, was a hunk of spare vibranium they didn't care about. I guess the scene is heavily open to interruption but I never saw it as a interpretation of tony understanding his father, but more of a selfish angry moment. "You don't deserve it. My father made that shield". Howard didn't make the shield for Rogers, or even the idea of Captain America. He made the shield just because Howard could. No one deserved the Shield more then Cap because Cap was the only one that even thought of using it. But because Rogers/Cap was the one who decided to use it, and the one who thought he earned that right, he also was the one who felt he had fallen from grace. Captain America always had a higher sense of morals then Tony. Even though Tony was a great Hero he never was as morally sound as Rogers was. Ironically making him extremely like his father Howard.
@@saintbooker5450 and there's also the issue of Tony growing up hearing his father praise Cap. "That's the guy my dad wouldn't shut up about?" Might've led to some envy.
@@konstellashon1364 In Iron Man 2, Tony sees a movie where Howard says "my greatest creation is you". What you need to bear in mind, and what Tony is keenly aware of, is that Howard was also involved in the "creation" of Captain America. So the revelation Tony is experiencing in that moment is that Howard is saying "I'm more proud of you than I am of Captain America". Which, apparently, Tony had doubted, and needed to hear. An aspect of the climax of Civil War which is often under-appreciated, is that not only is Tony learning that Bucky killed his parents, but that the reason they died is because while his father was apparently too busy to spend time with his son for Xmas, he was still finding time to try to recreate Captain America.

@@reyonXIII cap was a complete idiot and lunatic in CW
Its worth pointing out that Tony is the public face of the Avengers. Every time anything goes wrong, it's Tony who deals with the fallout. He is the only publicly accessible one and he's the one who gets blamed for everything.
Which is distinctly unfair, because he does try to prevent all the tragedy and pain and disaster, but he gets blamed when it happens anyway
That’s why in my opinion the public sees tony as the leader not cap. That’s why nobody was asking Sam to be the leader of the avengers, they asked Spider-Man because he’s in close relations with the starks.

That part didn't actually happen. ITs what tony wished what happened had they knew that his parents would die later that day so he could get some closure with his father.
@@epicfan1598 that’s what he just said idiot

I think its because he is guilty of the accident in sokovia
Tony truly changed himself after Iron Man 3
Tony Stark is a futurist what did you expect.
That tech is totally gonna help Tony and the other Avengers in endgame to help them get over their depression and properly fight Thanos, isn't it.
@@fallenlogan fucking funny 😂😂
Using that logic a politician can do shit if something bad happened in their personal life
What does that suppose to do with this one? He was misunderstood as Steve plus the events in that movie also concerned his own life. If he became evil because of that, I wouldn't support him.
@@echarts3710 no, he made a bad decision that no-one supported because he felt guilty. If you compare the teams no superhero person supported team Tony. Team Tony was: tony, his robot, his best friend( these 2 obviously will support him), a guy trying to get revenge on Bucky (black panther) and a double agent. Tony broke the avengers, because he felt guilty
Al Strider
you do know that the “cops” that came after Bucky had orders to shoot on sight right? They wanted to execute Bucky for a crime they weren’t even a 100% percent sure he committed just because the government needed a scapegoat; the easy answer, “The Winter Soldier did it”. That itself is an illegal order that the United Nations decided to carry out and also violates Bucky’s constitutional and human rights. The only reason Cap went to his apartment was so that Bucky could _LIVE_ to see a fair trial: something the government didn’t even feel like upholding for him. Plus when Bucky is finally in custody Steve asks about a lawyer and get denied, don’t tell that’s not a fucking violation of many things in the court of law
The fact that you say Wanda would’ve been in prison proves how unjust the government is.
*”Steve kept breaking the law”*
Who cares about the law at that point if it’s not moral?
My father made that shield."
That right there revealed everything about how he felt about his dad.
Underrated thinking, the reality was revealed on ironman2, howard always had hopes for his kid

I love how u can see tony slowly change from rich, playboy, asshole to actually becoming a men an seeing things differently and his money an fund other inventions and willing to sacrifice hinself so the wholw world can become better place.
Yeah rdj is such a good actor
@DJHart Not ass hole he was just a sassy
Play boy type but he became better every movie
@DJHart I liked him but most of the captain America fans don't like him I don't know why ? 😅
@@JaySewani Cap fan here. Didnt like Tony Stark because of his stance on Sokovia accords and tried to kill Bucky without listening to his reasons.
Just that. Everything else about Iron man is great.
@@darnit1944 He was right to try and kill Bucky.
I think when they can successfully do the entire body, not just the face, older actors can have more longevity.
Its a hard process but its already posible
They do the faces based on DNA replication
I think the reason Tony named the grant the "September Foundation" is because he had forgotten what song his mother was playing the last time they were together and re-learned it because of the BARF technology.
Alexa play September by Earth, Wind & Fire
ruclips.net/video/KmLk3ce3z80/видео.html (sorry for posting a link ) Tony Was The GOAT 😎❤
3:11-3:13
Did you notice that? As someone mentioned it , he already broken up with Pepper but he saw the digital screen mentioning her name, he didn't even burst out in tears but handled it a positive, cheerful way. He didn't even react negatively to the technical staff for that mistake.
1:26 wow I guess Tony has been learning from Drax lol
Endgame watchers, I've been expecting you.
Lol
Don't forget Far from home watchers
You can see that Tony still hadn’t recovered from all that has happened. You wanna know how? Tony used to just talk, not follow a script. But here he actually has a hologram telling him exactly what to say. I believe he still hasn’t recovered from Iron Man 3 and the first Avengers movie.
watching this video after endgame i know me too.... he is not a character he is more than that.. a emotion
Who's the homeless person on the couch?? Lol
@CLNT- Nah, that's stark humour.
No one. Just a man that will save the universe.
Jamil Watkins 2.5 that was couch guy from half baked Russo brothers confirmed
Who would have known a disgruntled Stark employee who was standing back stage would be responsible for changing Spiderman's whole life.
And indirctly almost destroying multiple universes
The saddest part about this this is the last time Tony said goodbye to his parents and he didn't know he was going to say goodbye
Apart from Mysterio , Drax was also there , just he was so still that you didn't noticed him.😁
Hi Drax!
NO ONE HAS EVER MADE THIS ORIGINAL FUNNY JOKE BEFORE GOOD WORK
lol
Drax was there
Yes John Cena was there too but we couldn't see him
For anyone wondering, the beginning song Tony's Mom was play is "Try to Remember" from The Fantasticks
Somewhere in the back of the scenario a bitter man named Quentin Beck is pissed that Tony named his project B.A.R.F. and that he is using it for self therapy, willfully ignoring the good it can do or the fact that Tony wasnt trying to humiliate him and recognizing that B.A.R.F. is a terrible acronym
also Beck's memory added in laughter
Everyone talking about mysterio here but can we all admit that there is actual love behind Howard and Tony's relationship in this scene here.
There's something incredibly vulnerable about the young RDJ's, eyes.
Was anyone else expecting Mysterio to have a Tony Stark hologram try and convince Peter to give up EDITH/ give up fighting entirely? I love what they did with the whole zombie Tony but I totally thought they were gonna bring RDJ back for a scene.
Final act means final act, I guess. But yeah, Why not just make a photoreal CGI replica of Tony?
Strider 1 Trigger Probably couldn’t afford to get RDJ back for even one scene, unfortunately.
But having a scene where Peter would either
A) realize he just fucked up big time by helping fake-Tony or
B) Having to fight off/ kill/ destroy holo-Tony
would’ve put the movie on another level
1:46 "He renamed my life's work.....BARF" 😭
In Beck's flashback, he clearly left out the part where Tony said he would work on that acronym. That clearly shows Beck was the real jerk, not Tony. He remembered it that way just Tony look bad.
@@paolotorres8537 Worth to notice too that when Berk talks about this scene, the flashback shows people laughing at the name "BARF". Here, nobody was laughing.
Because Tony had a TERRIBLE MEMORY HE WANTED TO TAKE BACK
I told him it was a mistake, that my technology could change the world… and then he fired me, said I was… unstable. To Tony.
2:14 My name is Tony Stark and welcome to my Ted talk
That expression in tony's eyes omg
This, THIS scene right here, is why I cried in "Endgame" when they left each other's presence in 1970. You just can't leave feelings on the table. A father and son, even in the most bizarre of ways, got to get those feelings off the table and say what they truly felt to and about one another that you could *SENSE* here but just not developed enough (Tony's immaturity as a young man; Howard's detachment due to his work immersion). Man its amazing how this Cinematic Universe did a great job of tying stuff together
Dude the commitment. One of the best directors ever. Imagine having a great idea for a movie but being in a time where one is limited by the technological advancements of that time. And then saying "I'll make a small scene just to see where things go." Decades later, we have the Avengers saga! Kudos to everyone that dedicated at least 3 decades to this saga. I kneel before thou.
1:40 a gentle reminder that not one but *two* MCU Spider-Man films happened as a consequence of this very moment
Me after watching this and remembering Tony meeting his Dad in Endgame: "I'm fine but my eyes are like a leaking tap."
This scene is so sad because the fact that Tony's mother gave the foreshadowing that they knew what was going to happen to them and still went through with it. Imagine seeing your child the last time and walking to your own death, voluntarily. And then when Tony sees the footage how their deaths actually happen is just painful!
Funny how mysterio remembers this scene incorrectly in Spider-Man. He remembers everyone be laughing at the BARF term when in reality they didn’t.
proof he really was unstable
This scene is different for me after Far From Home
DolphinNai And Endgame
Dayum, we need Tony Stark in our lives.
Love how Maria manages to harmonize with herself before changing vocal parts.
Tony’s a ‘mad man’. Not surprised having Roger Sterling for a father.
Looks like he just walked off the mad men set and they slapped a mustache on him.
@Daredevil did not even notice it was a woman until you pointed it out. Also what about my comment made you think that's why I commented?
i remember seeing this in the cinema, scared and amazed at how they made him looks so young. damn what a time to be alive
How damaged must one be to share this moment with people he doesn't know and just believes in.
I don't know how realistic the whole idea is, but it's beautiful to imagine that it could happen.
that's a "less than zero" era robert downey jr.
I was thinking that too and I've only seen a few clips of it.
His mom: say something or you will regret it
Tony: *regrets*
1:25 present tony not there
1:27 yo wassup don't mind me standing here in the back.
Dude came outta nowhere lmao
"truth is... I am Batman"
- Tony Stark, alternate universe #1939
@@reidt182 good one
3:00 "No strings, reframe the future!"
Ultron can relate
You just see the pain in Tony’s eyes.
EndGame is so sad.. we lost Nat.. we lost Tony.. and Cap becomes old. Tony's character change through out the movie. From Iron Man to Avengers End Game. Love you 3000.
What most people don't realise is Maria probably didn't actually say "this is the last time we're all gonna be together, you know whats about to happen. If you don't, you'll regret it." It was what Tony wished his mother said so he would do the right thing and say what he could've said to his parents for the last time before they left. He clearly remembered what his father said and fondly remembers his mother's singing.
the dichotomy of Tony and Steve : Tony is someone who often struggle to process his emotion so he protect himself behind a jerk, cold calculating demeanor and have tendency to rely on a quick, calculating, the most logical solution available, sometimes with disregard of other people's feeling
while Steve is someone who endures, he endured hardship growing up, he endured a near death event on his super soldier surgery and the destruction of Hydra, he endured hardship being a super hero and an avenger, he is the heart and soul of the avenger despite being the weakest among the big 3 because his leadership quality and his ability to endure and persevere
I remember watching this scene in theaters thinking why this is in the movie? Because we never see him use this tech. But it was for us to see what he wanted his goodbye to his parents to look like before Bucky kills them. Which made the climatic fight better because of this moment in the movie :)
Now this scene is used to talk about Mysterio in spiderman 2 lol
Elsewhere Quentin Beck was there.
Tony: **Slips on wet floor**
A janitor: And i took that personally
“If that’s true You’ll be a great man someday”
You have no idea Howard stark
