    I always felt like that the MCU has always needed scenes like this. The way that this scene allows Howard to talk to Tony through an old home movie feels very impactful, not just how Tony realises that his father did care about him, but this scene alone really set the course of the MCU going forward after Iron Man 2. This is cinema at its peak, and we just didn't know it yet.

    I love this scene so much, and it's one of the reasons why I love the MCU so much. Not the big grand battle scenes (yes, they're cool) but nothing beats intimate personal moments like this one. This scene reminds me of my own dad. My dad constantly told me how proud of me he was. And while he was in hospice earlier this year, the last solemn promise I made to him was that I'd go back to school, study engineering, and pursue my dreams of becoming an aerospace engineer. I wish he could have lived long enough to see me accomplish my dreams and goals. Everything I do, from this day forward will be as much for him as it is for me.

      The only negative if that is if he never said “I love you”, to his son as a child. Saying it to the son when he’s an adult has no meaning at all. Tony probably saw that as”Howard is just trying to get into heaven by saying that”
      At least my dad said “I love you”, to me as a kid. And when I became an adult, it meant something! Especially when he said:” I do love you son! And I know I did things that made you hate me at times. But if I didn’t do them, I’d have failed as a parent!”

He always thought his father was cold towards him and didn’t even like him, but it’s because Howard knew that Tony would be the one to fix his mistakes, to be the one who solved the problems he never could. He was hard on Tony because he knew that he had the potential to be one of the greatest minds on the planet, and because of THIS scene Tony now truly believed it. The one person who he thought he had disappointed turned out to be the one person who was his biggest supporter and his biggest advocate. Cap tried to tell tony that it wasn't Bucky's fault, and that he was under the control of Hydra. Tony said "I don't care, he killed my mom." Which shows that he didn't really care about his father's death, or at the very least, didn't care about it as much as his mom's death. And I don't blame him for not caring all that much. He was treated coldly by his father for years, up until the point of his father's death. One video praising Tony isn't going to immediately make Tony forgive him

    Howard Stark looks like Walt Disney and that plan is to build DISNEYLAND

    • @DoctorFalchion
      @DoctorFalchion 5 лет назад +135

      Actually, the whole concept seems to be not-so-subtly based on Walt Disney's plans for EPCOT, the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow.
      EPCOT now, of course, lends its name to the Epcot park; the World Showcase is loosely based on one of Walt's ideas for EPCOT. Part of Walt's original model is still on display at the Peoplemover in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom. Even the Stark Expo itself is taking some major notes from the 1964-65 New York World's Fair (note the Unisphere and the New York State Pavilion, which were real things), where Disney presented several of his ideas, including parts of his theoretical EPCOT and the "Carousel of Progress," a ride which is still operating today (albeit with alterations - the EPCOT model was originally displayed at the end of it, and after being at the Fair it was actually in Disneyland before coming to Disney World where it is today).
      This article from 2010 sums it all up really well: jimhillmedia.com/editor_in_chief1/b/jim_hill/archive/2010/05/14/why-for-does-howard-stark-look-like-walt-disney-in-iron-man-2.aspx
      and the Wikipedia article for EPCOT is also worth glancing over: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EPCOT_(concept)

      I think it's funny that they felt a need to shave quite a few years off Tony's age between this film clip clearly filmed in the 60's from Howard's suit to the poster art and 'Endgame' where Tony's birth year is reset to 1970.

How powerful this is, Howard passing the torch on to his son because, admitting the technological gap of his era but fiercely trusting the future generation to make a better future for humankind. And at the same time he affirmed that our brains, our capability to evolve, change, adapt, this is the best technology, hence the machine being nothing without the human brain and that will never be capable to match human ingenuity.
