She was a great song writer. That was so rare for a black woman in the 1970s and 1980s. Hell even today. And she made you blush. LOL. I think she had 44 hits in the Hot 100. She was amazing.

Donna did not retire in the late 80's, she had #1 hits until the year she died in 2011. Donna is only one of only two singers with Grammys in 4 different music categories. Most people do not realize Donna Summer's vocal abilities, range and versatility. She was far more than a disco Queen. One of the greatest singers of all time. And she never denounced her gay fan base.

Trippy, you're blushing! This was Donna Summers breakthrough song. Provocative, overtly sensual, and borderline pornographic, Love 2 Love was banned on many radio stations across the US! But it got her huge recognition, and became a mega hit in the discotheques from NY to LA. You might recognize her other mega hits Bad Girls, Hot Stuff, She Works Hard for the Money. The irony when she retired from the music industry in the late 80s, she became a born again Christian and basically denounced her gay fan base. Nonetheless she left her mark/ legacy on the music industry as a consummate performer.

      Get your fact straight dude!!!!!!
The only thing that was true was the Love to you baby, became a huge hit.
She didn't retire, she continues working mainly in Europe, as far as what you said about her gay friends, a total lie.
There were people that wanted to hurt her Carrier.

haha.. that's the cutest reaction to this song so far haha
But Donna moved on from the moaning at some point and became a one of a kind vocalist... we miss her

Hahaa!! I LOVE DONNA!!!!! This was her break through song. And think, this was in 1975. It was banned in several countries because of it's sexual nature. It's NOTHING compared to today's music LORD!! She wrote it but never intended on singing it. She did the demo for another singer but they really liked her version and wanted her recording. She had SO MANY more hits than this though. You have probably heard some....Hot Stuff, Bad Girls, MacArthur Park, She Works Hard For the Money, On the Radio...LOVE HER!!

Donna Summer had many hits and became known as the Queen Of Disco in the late 1970's. She was the #1 selling female disco artist and the only other artists to outsell her were the Bee Gees, the #1 selling disco group of the 70's!
    Donna Summer/MacArthur Park studio version.
By the way, the album version of LoveTo Love You Baby is almost 17 minutes long and takes up an entire side of the album.

Donna was a church girl, sang in the choir. She set aside her
religion to do this song., later regretted it even though it
catapulted her to fame. She later became a born again Christian.
Her live stage shows are very entertaining. Try reacting to She Works
Hard for the Money. It is different from this style.

Disco was never my thing but there were a few songs that I liked. Donna Summer had some decent songs, the Bee Gees of course, "Don't Leave Me This Way" by Thelma Houston and "Forget Me Nots" by Patrice Rushen. That's about the extent of it.
