Donna Summer was from New Jersey....when she was around 18/29 she moved to Germany with s musical show....she lived there for yrs...even learn to speak dutch...then she recorded this song ...and returned to U.S. to find that the song recorded in Germany was a # 1 hit internationally...and in US...the rest is history....
She's actually from Boston.

@@carloscolon1916 I'm not trying to be factitious all I'm saying is that she was not born in Jersey.If you do a Google search there's a lot that says she was born and raised in Boston,Mass. and after graduating college she took up residence in Germany, this is even from her own mouth.I never heard her mention that she was from Jersey.
Ahhhhh, Memories from the disco era which I lived thru as a young teen….! Love that look on your face when she started making sounds lol 😂 😂 I don’t remember all that moaning when I was 13! Must have heard a different version 😆 Seriously though there was a different vanilla version for the radio.

I hope now you know Donna Summer! Love to Love was her first release and launched her career as the Queen of 70s Disco. She found huge success in Europe (this clip was from a German TV show) but this song was too hot/ controversial at the time. They did their best to edit a radio version without all the moaning, and orgasmic sounds but the album version clocks in at 8mins! Long before She Works Hard for the Money, Donna had a string of monster dance tracks: I Feel Love, Spring Affair, Hot Stuff, Bad Girls, Mac Arthur's Park, and so many more.
The album version was 16 minutes plus.

This was a German TV show and it was on early night around 7 pm. I was a teenager when this was came out and nobody really cared.
When she did the Moaning & Groaning part she got so embarrassed she asked folks to leave the room. Needless to say it was her breakthrough hit. RIP.

It was Donna Summers idea just to record this as a demo and have another girl sing it. She didn't know the company made it into a record. After recording this she went to hospital for a months, then stayed home in bed for a month, the went on a 10 days cruise. When she returned home she was shocked to learn that they made it into a record, with out asking her first, and then another (not the last) shock when she learned that the record was already out. They had her sent in a hurry to USA where the third shock came. She tought she was going to talk to the press, play the song in a couple of discos and such. Nobody told her that the song was already played in the radio, and was already a big hit. She literally had her life completely turned over, without the slightest warning.

Donna Summer has so much better songs ... hot love ... enough is enough (duet with Barbara Streisand) the vocals in this are phenomenal..... please react . No one has done it and it is soooooo GOOD... hope you do it . Some of the reaction channels I have subscribed to have got lost and are playing music that is in my humble opinion left in the past .
